Changing the colour of the trackpad light?
Changing the colour of the (and using) the charging light?
What ROMs let me do this? (MIUI, CM6, Sense based)
I know there were threads ages ago, but I don't know what to search. And the info will be old.
The trackpad light is white, you can't change it. The LED near the top is either green or amber.
I use the "LED Me Know" app from the Market to control which one I want to flash etc. Don't know which custom ROMs handle it natively.
The stock Sense ROM flashes the trackpad light if you set it, but only every 10 secs or so.

I thought people had claimed that you could change the trackpad light like the N1... And that the top LED had colours of a mix of red and green.
I couldn't have been wronger.
Cheers for the answer though!
It's undiscovered yet
Although they're the only 'stock' colours which will show ;D

Led me know enables you to select;
red, green and white trackpad. Not sure about amber though, it appears red to me
.....didn't the G1 also displayed the default colours untill someone found a hack to enable multi coloured LED?

ok, well that looks like amber to me, not red. I think we're talking about the same thing. So the LED can be either off, green, or amber/red (depending on your colour perception).

Are you sure ?
My version of LED Me Know (the latest, as far as I'm aware), lets me select either an amber, green or "trackpad" notification. i.e. the amber and green ones are for the light by the speaker grille, and the trackpad light doesn't have a colour selection (it's only white).

Not sure about any other roms... but in the stock rom if you let the battery get critical (lol... less than 5% I think) it will flash pure red every 5 seconds or so. There's no way I'm confusing it for amber. Its clearly red.
Also: if amber is a combo of red and green, then the green led is not running at 100% while displaying red. It would have to be something like 100% red power, 60% green power. Reason? Download the app "Covedev Design" and enable amber, then green as well. You can clearly see the led change color slightly.
EDIT: oops, sorry, its "CoveDesign Dev (root)"

We have the option for green and amber. I mean to try and make the colors different. Like they did whith the G1 same with the trackpas. If anyone can find a hack to make it change colors altho that one seems impossible considering its one perm. Color.

Just the way he cooled his rom, nothing wrong with the led, it won't show charging till you hit 90%, then it'll show the green charge light however.

Well, not specifically a Gingerbread issue, but the fact that because it's AOSP, it's not built specifically for the Evo and thus hasn't been coded to use the Evo's LEDs.
That's how I see it at least.
so everyone knows how the MT4G has the indicator light that by default glows green when chard i get it at 92% and i don't have the thing where it goes to 100 then back to 95. is it bad

not really understanding your question on MIUI, the indicator light should be orange while charging until about 90% then it will turn green all the way up to 100% and itll stay green as long as its plugged in

wait until your phone is fully charged, and download the Battery Calibration app from the market. while the phone is still plugged into the charger, run the app and it will wipe your battery stats and give you a more accurate reading. recommended every time you flash a new rom
Hey there, got my N4 this morning, its a good upgrade from the GNexus. I haven't had any problems so far, besides the GMail not syncing and the lack of a LED notification light. Or so I thought at first, its actually on, but incredibly dim, so I didn't even notice.
Is this just me?

It appears to just be you, my notification LED is rather bright, actually. Have you tried tweaking it with a third party app from the Play Store?
Its dim in comparison to the Samsung LED for example the LED on my Note 2 is a lot brighter and more vivid

Thanks for the replies. Its very dim, even when I tried using Light Flow. I haven't installed any other app that may interfere with it.
In addition, my GMail syncs really slow.
I'm currently re-flashing the stock rom and maybe it'll be fixed.
Thanks

No your not the only one.. Did flashing the stock ROM help you?..
I notice mines is dim compared to my gnex
Its dim and it blinks unbelievably slow. I dont understand what they were thinking. Notification lights should be bright and obnoxious to.... notify you.
Has anyone found a fix for this yet? The notification light on mine only blinks once then stops. How is this suppose to notify me if I missed a message if it only flashes once and is extremly dim. The Samsung Led light are are way better. Is there going to be a patch for this problem?
Hello fellow RFDer - to the OP
I used light flow with the custom flashing rate, set at 1000/1000 (so 1 second flashes with 1 second gaps) and it seems to work well. Setting any of the other settings (slow - fast) didn't make a difference. I really can't wait for CM where all these items are built in and we dont have to mess with 3rd party apps.
It worked for a while yesterday, now it stopped working. I've since installed Light Flow with no luck, have Light Manager right now (all free so far), but still without success. I've always been a Blackberry person and had a GNexus before, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't spoiled with a working light.

Agreed, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see if anyone has any recommendations.
Same thing for me, notification light worked fine the first day, then I rooted the phone and now it's very dim. LightFlow did not improve anything.

Hmmm I noticed my light is super dim as well just like the pictures on the first page. Unlocked and rooted it before I got a notification though.

Agreed it's dim.
The LED appears to be under the plastic in the bezel rather than displayed through a hole cut through it. Not sure adjusting brightness at the software level will have much of an impact.
My led is dim as well
Mine is dim and glows really slow! Using Light Flow now, but still not as bright as the one in GNex.
Hi all,
I have a similar issue:
My LED light flashes only when I get notifications relating to Facebook & Whatsapp.
It does not work for missed calls, Gmail messages, text messages or while charging!
I had installed Lightflow and it was a little buggy, but I think, the LED notification should still work for all types of notifications?
I have also factory reset the phone and have the pulse notification option under the display menu turned on, but still no success.
Any help/replies will be much appreciated.
I have no issues with using light flow.

Thanks mate, how about without light flow? Does lightflow drain a lot of battery?

Light Flow only drains battery when you leave a notification unchecked for long periods of time (i.e. the notification LED flashes for long periods of time). Naturally, the longer the LED flashes, the longer the wakelock.
In normal use, the battery hit is negligible (in my opinion).
As title says.

My apologies. Thought this would be easier as i think i'm not the only one with this question and this is easier to find for people.
I've had my rev_11 for about three weeks now with no red LED. I RMA'd my Rev 10 for a red LED.
Right, but whats the issue? Not working at all. Working sometimes, showing orange instead?
Come to think of it though, ive never seen a red LED on my Rev_11......

That your phone is not willing to boot/turned on and showing the red led blinking on charge as sign something is wrong.

I encountered the red LED, twice. But luckily it wasn't ruined. I got it to work and boot up normally.
FALSE ALARM: It might've been something else.
My rev 11 still flies, havent seen a red LED yet.
It's been charged in all possible manners, with different chargers on different locations.
Most often it gets charged when it reaches around 40%, but I've had runs where I went to 20% and also having it drained completely. One time was a max runtime test (I got 3 days by using the phone only when I needed to, so just skipped the entertainment bit) and once while playing Ingress it died on me.
Title pretty much says it all, I figure this would be a kernel level thing, and I know it's not a big light but I kinda like the notification led. It would work at least a little.

I don't think it is a kernel thing... You see, the tablet charges when completly shut down. I think that fact tells us that the led light is completely disconnected from kernels, roms, etc , it may be only connected to the battery itself. All the devices with led that showed charging automatically turned on when I connected them to a power source.
Another thing that makes me think this is the fact that most devices don't have such light, and by that reason early CM ROMs (alphas that still have nothing from the device implemented) should mess up with the lights, which never happened (I tried all CM versions for this tablet, I bought and unlocked it still on ICS).
Then again I might me wrong... Lets wait for other opinions. I would like to have it too!

you know i didnt think about that, you're absolutely right, It could be connected to the battery and the fact that it did work in the alpha's when nothing was implemented probably means its not even in the rom.
i've looked for some alternatives in the play store, the was one called no led, which is an interesting concept but i couldn't figure it out. notification icons
