There were always a few occasions when I was playing with my vibrant and noticed my brightness would increase randomly. I just figured out after some investigation, that if you slide your finger ALONG the status bar, so left to right either way, it will adjust the screen brightness. Just a tip in case anyone wasn't aware. It's really not an obvious feature to discover so I figured it might help people.
Ha, what a strange feature.
Nice find!

wow, nice response. all he was telling you that there is a link to all kinds of good and useful tips like that...
hmm, cant figure out why developers leave xda
Wasn't asking for more tips. Wasn't asking if there was a two line blurb saying this already. Posted to help out people that didn't pick up on this. I've seen a lot of complaints of brightness not being in the notification bar toggle. Compared to all the other things that are repeated over and over I don't see it necessary to tell me what's for "my own good". If you already knew, hit back and move on. If my thread was entitled "I want to learn new tricks and tips" it'd be appropriate. Besides from this one "tip" everything else in the sticky is stuff I was already aware of.

Dude, just don't title this "does everybody know...". Anyone who knows how to use this forum knows your useless trivia. You successfully informed 2 noobs about a known feature that's been threaded a dozen times already. Congrats.

LOL... Perhaps you could write the next guide for us? Should I put a "word" in quotes so it has more meaning?

Harsh!
But, yeah, this is fairly well-known. I still use auto-brightness instead, though, cuz I'm lazy like that.

good hell is it that time of the month again?
IF you/other people would read the stickies, or use the search function you/other people would have found what you were looking for. not to mention he responded with a link to the sticky that has loads of other very useful information that you may be trying to figure out, and that when you do figure out you will post a new thread for something that has already been covered in another thread that isn't that hard to find because it is stickied....

So it wastes time because my title is bad, yet you took more time from your life to post that? 2 people is still 2 people. I get more pleasure from people like you that think you're defending....I'm sorry what exactly are you defending right now? Anyone who knows how to use the forum can figure this out, yes. However anyone who has a life and doesn't read every word of every thread can find this easier. It's a feature that will be used daily. This thread will eventually go to the bottom just like all the other old thread. RELAX.

Look I found this feature on my own, accidentally, and shared it. I wasn't going to search the entire forum to see if it had been mentioned before I shared. Idiot.
Don't worry. I edited the title since everyone knows everything. Go rag on the consistent threads of people asking where to find froyo roms, lag problems, and people starting threads wondering whats wrong with their gps.

You're right. And the word "douchbagery" is definitely one of those common terms found in the word choice of an adult.
Why can't we play nice?
your new title brings even more attention to this thread, I clicked because I was curious wtf was going on in here...
so now are you not only wasting everyones times with a feature that everyone knows, but now you're also wasting my time by giving your thread a confusing title.
I hope you burn in hell.

Haha. Hey it says don't read now! Damn I can't do anything right hahaha.
I have searched and searched but I cannot seem to figure it out. I'm assuming they have something to do with the screen digitizer?
They aren't bothering me or anything, I'm just genuinely curious what they are. I didn't even see them until today, haha.
They are the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor.
Thank ya sir.
Now that I search that, I get my answer... which got me thinking: if you don't know what you're talking about, it's nearly impossible to get good results from searching.
So keep that in mind next time you see a noob question, folks.. sometimes searching is of no help at all, especially if you're completely unread on a subject.
That's my PSA for the day.

and then, please, don't continue this thread any further. The W8 forums are getting seriously filled with "will my non-windows ARM device get a hacked version of W8" and the answer is the same every time, and will continue to be the same, ever single time.

Sorry, i just get kinda fed up when the same question gets asked again and again and again and again, more noobish every time. I used to mod a forum on a different site, i hate having to deal with duplicate threads, and noobs with one post spanning up subsections.....
i always try to help out the noobs, after all, we all used to be one, didn't we? but sometimes there's just no excuse, and this is one of those cases. this question has been answered in about half the threads on the first page of both W8 forums on XDA, and several times in other device forums. there were 2 W8 a500 posts in the a500 section last time i was there. When i saw this thread, there was an almost identical question directly bleow it!
I don't mean to sound snippy, but my tolerance for ignorance and stupidity has been being chewed up more than usual lately. Sorry for any offence i caused, it wasn't meant.
EDIT: i'm not calling anyone stupid!!! i'm just saying, some people's actions can seem stupid to me. No offence intended to anyone! I'd just expect someone who's been here a while to know to look for similar threads first.......

Pretty sure the Transformer is different hardware than the A500. If you have a problem with a post, please report it instead of playing internet cop.
Also, lots of people here have been mods on other forums. They don't go around doing this.
Actual mods, just close this please.
See my edit above. was written as you were posting.
And the transformer hardware is actually very similar to the a500, that's why software ports are so easy.
But yes, i agree, this should be closed.....

I disagree. I want to see a barrage of zombie devs who aren't set on flaming anyone who would like to see Windows 8 work on any ARM processor. XBOX said their new 360 was unhaxZ0rable. Low and behold http://x360key.com/
If these people can crack MICROSOFT's box o love to this extent, then I feel anything can be done. I'm not saying I personally can do it. OR anyone I personally know. I'm saying, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. It just takes the right minds of brilliance to find a work around or a 'hack'. Even if these tablets have to be J-tagged, I think it is possible....
My four cents.
Thoughts?
PS. Not to mention all of the numerous hackers on the internet destroying Infastructor Security for FUN. Ever heard of the group Anonymous or the hacker The Jester? I suggest you flameboys do some research before you claim the impossible. I'm not bashing you guys for being disgruntled about n00bs over posting the as-of-yet obvious, but open your mind a little...
I'm just going to leave this here: http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/07/asus-windows-8-tablet-promised/
this is a general question that is relevant to multiple devices. it's relevant but doesn't need to be brought up repeatedly.
when it's possible to port xda is likely to be the place you'll know
Hey,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. 4 weeks old and yesterday I discovered a problem that was not obvious. Under a black background in a dark place, I could see little dark black dots scattered over the screen. I once had the same problem with my iPad but in a different colour (white) and they gave me a new iPad right away So I just wanted to warn you guys to check for this problem, as one of my friends had this problem too!
Hope this helps!

yes, because people do not search before posting anything.. They find something and think "Oh I need to let everyone on XDA know about this" Go and create a thread without ever thinking "I wonder if anyone else has had the problem I have, maybe I should search before I create a new thread"
Like yesterday, a guy created a thread on jellybean source, 10 minutes later another person created another thread on Jelly Bean Source, not even seeing that just 3 threads down from his was the original JB thread... There is no excuse for that.
So not only are people not searching, but they arent even taking the time to look through the threads on the first page.. it's laziness, it clutters the forum for more useful posts.. And there is really no excuse for it.
When I experience a problem I know the first thing I do is search to see if anyone else is having that same problem. 90% of the time a search yields me what I need, if not THEN I create a thread, I dont create a thread without searching to see If there is an existing thread about the issue I'm having
OP your intentions are noble, but for the furture.. please search before you post. If you had you would of found the mega thread discussing this issue and would have learned more about the issue instead of just creating a thread..
is the fix for this using screen filter app?

As the title States, is there a way to use the note 4 screen as a screen for let's say a PC or otherwise? I know about splash top and streaming online, however I'm referring to using a local connection like MHL and reversing the signal so it takes a signal instead of giving it, i'm guessing a resounding no but I could be wrong so thought I'd ask.
Many thanks
