Where is the option in the menu (after bringing up the Dialer and ##3282#) to do a data reset? I knew this before I think and can't remember exactly. I'm doing this mainly because my 3G goes in and out randomly. Thanks

Once you put in the ##DATA code, select edit. Enter in your MSL. Press Menu. Select Restore. Once that's done and the phone resets, go into your settings and update Profile.

Sorry left out a step. Go into data profile, then hit menu and restore. Just tried it on mine. So order is once again:
1. ##3282#
2. Select Edit
3. Enter MSL
4. Select Data Profile
5. Press Menu
6. Select restore.

Yea, I've tried every screen possible and then pushing the menu button and nothing happens. I'm not worried about it now. I flashed a new rom and its way better. but i checked after the flash and the restore option still doesn't come up. so i dunno whats going on
what exactly doese "restore" do here?
does it wipe my phone?
BTW: to get your MSL
1. call sprint
2. download an app in the market: MSL Reader
A ##3282# Restore will erase your user NAI, or data profile username. This will not erase any of your personal data, and will restore your data profile username after you go to do a data profile update. hope this helps!

I've looked myself and I don't think it's there under DK28 ROMs. I never looked on 2.1, but there is NO restore on any of the DK28s I've installed.
FYI, I have had very good results with changing the proxy server.

if you don't touch Firmware. you can go Recovery Mode and Factory Reset.
Shutdown.
Hold Power + Volume Up. when boot up keep hole Volume up and release Power.
you will enter Recovery Mode. Choose wipe data/factory reset.
if not work, try to reflash firmware.
Next time you removed the launcher you can push back the apk.

-Find/download .apk
-Enable usb debuging and Use adb push
Or copy .apk from ex-sdcard to /system/apps
I give u the "factory reset" choice coz it's easy way to fix. And i'm not sure cause is launcher missing. But this choice u will lose yr installed apps.

The Fact is you don't need to use the same touchwiz as original but you need any launcher with the same name.

I've already described how to get into recovery mode in the former post.
-shutdown
-hold power+up
-release power after reboot but keep hold up
- wipe data/reset factory default.
If can't , try to reflash the firmware.

Yes. if there are problems with modem(3g network), try to reflash "bell modem" again.

I have been considering jumping right on the HTC Evo 3D when Sprint releases it.
I was planning on selling my HTC Evo 4G on ebay.
What exactly should I do to make sure none of my personal information is left on this phone?
I do have my phone r00ted: Fresh Evo: Current ROM.
Can I just clear the cache, Wipe the SDCard. Do a clean install of Fresh.
Then just shut the phone down and sell it?
Thanks guys!
BAsically, yes. Do a full wipe, flash a new ROM, let it go
in recovery you would wipe user data as well as cache and all that and then do a Rom install.
If you are selling the phone with the SD, wipe SD after you flash the rom.
Hope this helps

You can also do that by using the ##768# bjt some has reported that the phone would not activate at all or that the 4G keys get lost. The option I have used to restore my 3G data (which is where the username is used) is the ##DATA# and then typing the MSL then going to Data Profile > Restore. The only detail is that the phone will attempt to get that data back via provisioning as soon as the phone is powered on again so make sure the device is already deactivated before running that step.

But with aosp roms, im having his mms issue.

I had this same problem with my EVo when cloning it with the samsung moment.. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED! TRUST ME.. I spent months trying to figure out my problem and found it to be this.. This is the only method that can get you up and running. The HA Shared Secret is in Hex Format.. ill see if i can find that same guide that i used and post it later

Again, you need to be on a Sense rom for these ## commands to work. I suggest flashing Supreme Sense, running the ##rtn# command, let the phone do hands free activation then update profile and PRL in phone settings -> software update.
It should then work and you will be able to flash back to CM7.
Thanks for the helpful info. I flashed to the latest sense rom on here. Then I tried dialing the ##rtn# code. But when I do it, the dialer screen freezes and does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
What rom? Did you dial ##3282#, then enter EDIT mode. It will then prompt you to enter your MSL. Or did it not even get that far?
Supreme sense is the rom i installed. Yes i dialed ##3282# and nothing happend. The ##3282# dissapears and The dialer just freezes until i hit the home button. I havent got passed the dialer screen.
How do i enter "edit mode"?

First try update PRL and update profile, reboot, TWICE.
Then try the ##rtn#
If that doesn't work, RUU to Froyo.
if you haven't updated your radio that happens. I had the same problem trying to get into the DATA menu and I couldn't until I had the radios updated.
UPDATE: I did what vicodan said and went back to froyo. The codes started working, but then a new problem arose. when i dailled ##rtn#, i chose edit. Then went to reset. But when I did that, the OS prompted me for a password.
I give up. lol
I re-rooted and installed stock 2.3. And my mms work on there with a simple apn edit. and I downloaded a voicemail app so im good to go!!
Its just a shame I wont be able to use the sexy AOSP roms due to the mms issue. :-(. Thanks everybody for the info!!

The password is your MSL code. Easily obtainable by having root and running MSL reader which is free in the market. You should have your MSL code anyways.
Ok, for those of you who want/need to wipe your phone so that it deletes EVERYTHING so that you get it back to your "Out of the Box" status. I have the answer!
First: Back up What ever you want/need to back up.
Then: MAKE SURE YOU BACKED UP WHAT YOU WANT/NEED!!!!!
DOUBLE CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOU SAVED YOUR STUFF!!-Did I make myself clear that you will LOSE EVERYTHING!!!
Read This: T-Mobile Support Community: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2500
To do another reset, that will possibly leave some cache on the phone ( I know this, as I have done it and it left info on it).
Follow these directions:
A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available).
To perform a hard reset, follow these steps.
1. Back up all necessary data that is on the internal memory. See: Back up device files: Samsung Galaxy S II
2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap Privacy.
5. Tap to clear the Backup my data an Automatic restore check boxes, if desired. (you might have to clear Automatic Restore first, the Back my Data)
6. Tap Factory data reset.
7. Tap Reset phone.
8. Tap Erase everything.
9. If prompted, enter the password.
· Note: The default password is 1234.
10. Tap OK.
11. If necessary, enter and confirm the password again.
12. Tap OK.
With that all said and done, now to the Good way to Really reset your device.
First: MAKE SURE YOU SAVE WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO SAVE!! I backed up my folders and my SD card just in case, using Samsung Kies found Here: http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/m...softwaremanual.do?page=MOBILE.SOFTWARE.MANUAL
Bare with me, as I am doing this from memory. I performed it like 3 times yesterday.
1. Start with the phone powered off.
2. Hold the followling 3 buttons all at once starting in this order, Sound UP, Sound Down and Power. (Yes, you will need to use 2 hands).
3. Once the Samsung Android Screen pops up (the second Samsung Screen) release the Power button and keep holding the Volume Down. You will get a bunch of commands (like 4 or 5), First I chose to wipe my Cache, then I chose the option to "Factory Reset Out of the Box" Status. To move where you want to go, simply use the volume up and down. Then to select the item you want, touch your HOME key on the bottom of the phone.
That's it!! You now have your phone back to the first day you bought it. If you didn't back up your apps, they you just have to spend time reinstalling them all over again..
When you start by setting it up, don't allow it to restore your info/settings. I think it's like the 3rd or 4th screen after you touch the Android to start setting it up. Just unclick the box's...or box..like I said, I did it over 24 hrs ago, and more than once...testing it out each time for different things..This one way made sure everthing was gone and I started out fresh.
Hope this helps!!
Well you can just type *2767*3855# in keypad and those 12 steps will be done in one

No it won't. I know that because I had to give O2 my Galaxy S2 to change my defect display. I already had rooted it and therefore the "custom-download-counter" wasn't 0 again. In order to get a flashed/rooted phone back to the "out of the box status" you need to:
1. Install a stock firmware & kernel
2. Perform a hard reset*
3. Use a special "USB-Jig" to reset the counter.
* I used the number, then removed the folders/files like "MIUI" and the images of the custom-roms I flashed. Then I bored into the recovery and cleared the cache.

I confirm that this the only way to reset to out of the box, especially on custom kernels or root
You need to flash a full ROM through the new JIG cable not the old JIG. Old JIG won't reset counter
Be aware, most new ROMs here include old SBL and not the original to avoid the old JIG blacklisting
Better use an untouched "one file" ROM from samfirmware or grab your own ROM from Kies temps folder while it updates your phone
I personally like this way:
1- Use Odin through new JIG to flash an old official untouched ROM, 2.2.1 or older
2- Use KIES to originally update to the last official firmware, disable backup phone during this step
3- Hard reset and format internal SD card

They won't bother to check if it's the new bootloader or old bootloader. Why do you guys like to make things complicated. Occam's razor.
Also, unless Ben has updated Heimdall with the info I passed along from Odia or we get a new version of Odin, even if you use an integrated Jig cable the counter will not reset.
Simple way to get fully reset:
1. Flash desired firmware and reboot
2. Dial *2767*3855#
Job done.

What about the other devices on your Wi-Fi network? Are they able to access all these sites?
Try forgetting the Wi-Fi from the settings and attempt to connect to it again. Also, do try clearing the cache from recovery mode (if unsure how, do follow the steps as listed below).
Entering recovery mode:
1) Ensure that your phone is powered OFF
2) Hold the volume down + power button (until a menu appears, for which you may release both buttons)
3) Using the volume keys, select the "wipe cache partition" option and confirm by pressing the power button
4) Select "reboot system now" (same procedure, volume keys and power button to confirm)
Do update me on the results.

Try setting a custom DNS. Head over to your Wi-Fi settings and forget the network first. Before reconnecting, select advanced settings and set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
In addition to that you'd have to assign a static IP, as well as input your router's gateway IP (though I'm not sure whether this is necessary).
Do report back the results.
