Anyone have the list of default apps that came on the Nexus S. There was something called super something or other had root etc settings inside of it, since flashing a new kernel of course its gone, it had some interesting items in it I want to look over and am trying to find it and place it back on.
Ive tried finding the list and cannot.
Or just the name of the app. or the apk for it.

SuperUser. It's not a default app. It's an rooting app.
no no i have super user.
this was another app that was sitting on the phone when I unboxed.

I have no idea, the only Super* app I have on mine is the Super User app.
But then as I have the cloud automatically install all my apps on a wipe I don't have all that much time to look at the 'default' apps.

Hey everyone. Have an unrooted Evo. Just installed the most recent OTA. A few days before that my wifi started turning on by itself. After doing some snooping around in my phone I found an app called securephone running. It looks like spyware, I'm not sure how it got there, or what app I downloaded that added it, but keep an eye out, and if anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.
Looks like it logs and uploads your call history. Got a nosey girlfriend?

I was thinking that but it has no user interface, instructions or settings. After uninstalling I even went and reinstalled it myself from the market to see, but nothing.
Yeah I don't know then, maybe there is some hidden way to get into its menus, it certainly wouldn't be the first app like that. It does have the most extensive permissions list that I have ever seen so methinks it can't be good. Just get it back off your phone and keep a close watch on whoever has access to your EVO.
I found one listing that says "This application seems to be removed from the Android Market". ?

Do you have an Exchange account installed? Could be your Admin forced the installation remotely.
Otherwise, yeah, it's your significant other.
Hi guys, I know some launchers have the ability to sort apps/games into groups like ADW Launcher EX.
I was just wondering if there is a launcher/app that will pop up upon installation of a new app/game and ask what group you want to place it in?
I really like ADW but its just a ball-ache trying to keep track of things I install and make sure I haven't forgot to sort something, it would be cool if something asked after installation.
Has anybody come across a launcher/app that can do this?
[EDIT] This so probably best to go into questions/general thread. Can a mod move please.
Try "Smart Shortcuts" om Marked.
I think folder organiser pops up in notifications when a new app is installed.

Thanks guys but found exactly what I was looking for.. "Auto App Organizer"
Its awesome, been looking for a app like this since first getting Android. It will automatically scan all your installed apps and categorize them and will also watch for new installed. You can then create shortcuts to the categories on home and they will act like folders.
The app is free but I paid for the full version (no banner). tbh the banner wasnt really annoying or anything, I simply wanted to show appreciation.
I would REALLY recommend this app to anybody.
Thanks man. I have played with folder organising apps and the such before, but I just never bothered putting new apps into relevant places and so it just became a bit pointless.
This sounds much more suited to me! I shall have play.
Cheers
Edit: Lol - looks like the dev and me have a source in common

Oh you mean the icon, took my 5 mins to work out what you meant by that
I removed phone.apk and telephonyprovider.apk... How can I remove call settings from settings.apk?
CM7.1
Why do you want to do this? I know the Nook isn't a phone but some applications end up querying for call settings anyway and you are likely to cause problems.
There can also be areas where you may want to fake things like the Nook having a phone number as some apps use that as a verification key (e.g. Verizon Fios remote control).

I did this because I didn't want the phone icons or anything. When I go to the "call settings", in the settings app, it crashes. So naturally, its of no use to me. I don't use any apps that use a phone # as a key, I just want it gone.

Asking people why they want to do something is another question. Start your own thread and ask why someone would want to do that.
You would need a new settings app to remove the call settings. I also deleted all the telephony apps from my nook. No problems at all.

Just an fyi... Those are included in our encore/nc builds for compatibility reasons. Not just some apps, but market also needs these to run well. Other things like contacts app will act odd, too. You will find more headaches from removing them. Our cm Devs didn't leave them in there for S and Gs.
If your concern is battery, don't worry. They don't use any.

If you're feeling "removey" and anxious to get rid of excess apps, i relate and recommend this :
Get Titanium Backup on the market. This will let you see all installed apps and have the option to "freeze" one before uninstalling. You'll get to see how the nook functions without the app in question. If it freaks out, you can usually just go back in and unfreeze it.
The phone apk is definitely not a safe app to remove are you using the stock adw launcher?

Well... I dunno about that. I really see no reason for the dev's to leave in Camera.apk, MMS.apk, etc etc... I've removed the following, plus more with no negative side effects whatsoever. I've been running CM7 & CM7.1 since I first got my nook last May. I've even tried removing these on my phone just for "S&G's" and it didn't really have any negative side effects aside from my phone no longer functioning as a phone
Partial list of stock system apks removed:
Phone.apk - crashes at first, but a reboot solves any and all issues with that
MMS.apk
MMSProvider.apk
Telephonyprovider.apk
Protips.apk
Camera.apk
Thats as best as I can remember for now, I probably

I'm trying to install some of the Humble Indie Bundle 6 games on my N4 and I'm running into a problem I've never faced before. The APK files download just fine, but when it comes to actually opening them to start the installation, it won't install. The button that says "install" does nothing when I press it. I checked in my security settings and "unknown sources" are allowed. I included screenshots of both these in the attached files. I even tried un-selecting the "verify apps" option, in case the humble bundle app had been removed from their white list for some reason, it still won't install.
I thought it might be a bug with the Humble Bundle beta app so I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, but it too is getting stuck on the installation. It downloads just fine but it won't install. I've tried rebooting my phone, still no luck. I'm on the latest Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Has anyone else been getting this problem, or does anyone have any idea on how I could fix it? I didn't pay much for the games but it sort of sucks to have bought them and be unable to play any of them like this.
I'd like to try with some more third party apps to see if it's all of them, or if it's just the Humble Bundle APKs that are causing me trouble (if it's the later I can probably contact Humble Bundle and ask them for assistance), but I'm not familiar with those. Could someone please recommend some good safe ones I can test out?
My humble bundle beta installed fine. So at least you know the app should work. Sorry can't help you more. Hopefully someone else has a solution. Silly question... have you tried rebooting?

are you running paranoid android? disable halo, or so ive read.
Any app that requires permission to draw over other apps can potentially cause what you're experiencing. Examples include but are not limited to:
- the HALO feature in PA ROMs
- Screen filter apps
- Other floating apps

Could any of that happen if I haven't rooted?
Also,
I've just tried to reinstall TubeMate, another third party app I like. It's APK also refuses to install, which probably means there's a problem with my phone and not just the Humble Bundle app. I'm starting to think I'll have to factory reset the phone, which is certainly do-able, just... not very fun.

how much storage space do you have left in your phone?

Yes, this can happen without root access. I've seen your problem addressed several times in multiple forums and ALL of them is because of a floating app.
Look through your app list. Is there ANY app that, as a feature, floats on top of other apps?
Eg, Facebook Messenger, Screen Filter, Floating Stickies, AirCalc, etc
Just force stop them and you should be able to sideload apk's again.

The phone says 1.68 GB are free, but when I plug it into my desktop it tells me 1.57 GBs. So... somewhere between those two.
EDIT:
Found it... It was the Twilight app (no, not THAT Twilight... lol), it's an app that tints the whole screen a slight redish color so it doesn't hurt my eyes too much when I use the phone in the evening. That must count as a "floating". The moment I disabled that I was able to successfully install the APK. YOU SIR, ohyearar, have won a thanks.
When I open a file that can be opened with multiple apps, I get the choice notification to pick an app, but there is no "only once" button like on my S4. I have to pick one and it gets stored as the default app and I never get the choice again. Anyone else seeing this?
Yes. Very annoying!!!!
Is this a touchwiz bug? Would you expect it to be fixed in an update?
I believe it is an Android Marshmallow "feature"
I hate it, but can't do a damn thing about it without root
Found the app "Better Open With". Not perfect, but does a good job and no root required.

Awesome! That app has fixed one of my top 5 problems about the S7!
Hotspot tethering I also got working, so 2 things crossed off my list
Next, I need to move my app data. I need root for Titanium, and the Samsung smart switch only moved over APKs and not their data from my S5. Looks like I need to use the Helium app now.
If you want a better chance at rooting sign this and pass it on
