Head over to Swype's site, register for the beta, and you should quickly receive an email (that you should open on your Android device) sending you to the beta download site. Once Swype is installed, you'll be led through setting it up and enabling it on your phone—if that doesn't work, press and hold on any input field, select "Input method," then choose Swype.Better act fast it might close soon !!!!

Actually, it was my fault, I guess. I have Droidwall installed to block a few apps from connecting to the net. I opened it to find the swype installer was blocked. I don't know how because, you have to open droidwall, select the app and apply the rule to block it. I haven't opened droidwall in weeks, so I have no idea how it got blocked. Anyway, i have swype working. Am prepared to be wowed..

Skype finally made it to Android and Legend in particular. Haven't tested it with voice calls yet. Now, maybe GTalk will follow?
I've tested it a bit and it even works on EDGE. I couldn't believe that myself but it does.
Link
Hmm... Just seeing the list of permissions it requires confirms I'll stay away from this one as I did from the PC version.
Oh well I lived without it so far without any problem, this won't change
edit: and for a 2.1 stock legend, that's also a pretty big app to install!

Gtalk is a stock app on Android. Or i'm missing your point?
Tested Skype for few mins, seems to work fine. Great sound quality, but... It's so heavyweight and there is no option to shut it down COMPLETELY. Lastly, my phone went offline (which newer happened before) so i just uninstalled it and already forgot. Bloatware.

It froze my phone twice, had to reboot several times... This release of Skype makes Legend unusable, at least my Legend.

Can someone please post the Skype.apk file.
The Skype download for Android link doesn't work.
Thanks,

If you use Market Access, you can gain entry to it.
I did this and downloaded the app, however, i keeps crashing within seconds of me running it. Any idea why?
When I try to sign in, it instantly says try again later, seems like it doesn't even try to sign me in. Any earthlings having the same problem?
Works fine on my phone.

We are looking for "Shut that f**k off COMPLETELY" option, no just to sign out. Even when you are signed out it uses quite a lot of resources.

Newest version in the market was released. Anyone able to hex edit this one so that it's compatible with Hulu, etc? Thanks in advance!

So after we get the hacked flashplayer, what else do we need to do. Hulu keeps complaining about cell phone.

Can this be done without a root?

Change your user agent to desktop. Cyanogen and other custom ROMs have this built in, but you can use third party browsers to do it too.

I would use the Hulu.apk as it runs much smoother than playing a video via the browser. I'm sure it's on these forums if you search or you can rip it out of SkyRaider.
If you want to go the browser route, type the following into your URL (without the quotes), "about:debug"
Hit enter (nothing will happen)
Go to menu and scroll all the way down to UA string. Change to desktop. Hulu should now work.

No, you can't replace files in the /system partition without root privledges.
does anyone have this in an apk instead of just the so file. I tried to adb push it in sdk tools and it still doesn't work.
EDIT: OK I think I must have pushed it to the wrong folder because I tried again and now it is working for me.

I'm using their install file too, it installs, but for some reason using rafs rom and a couple of others as soonas you reboot, it unregisters which makes no sense.

Yes, a server issue. They stated it will be back on line in a few hours.
Anyone have any luck? I tried to dl it, but it said I don't have an Android device. So I loaded it to my Droid & dropped it into my dropbox. Now I have the Swype loder installed on my Xoom, but it's telling me there's a network problem and it won't find the mama ship.

How did you get it to work? When I try it just says your device is not an Android phone, is there a trick?
Not sure, I already had the installer on my xoom. I just ran the installer, updated installer, and then downloaded swype. I am pretty sure that they only allow it to be installed on 2 devices too.

If anyone is having issues where installer says disable swype and you do, but its not seeing it....use root explorer and just delete swype apk and it will all work.
One nice feature is that you can make keyboard smaller and then move the keyboard to wherever you want, allowing it to be used with one thumb. I like it and have been waiting for this since I got my zoom.

That allowed me to download the installer, but as soon as I try to login in the installer app, it says there was a data error, likely due to a bad network connection. I know I have a good wifi connection. Anyone else getting this? I have a non-activated vzw model

After the 3.2 update, Swype has stopped working. It no longer will install and you will get a ERROR when you try to use the installer. From the Swype beta bug forums, they are aware of this issue but they don't just want to support the screen resolution. Do you guys experience this as well?
Not going to answer your question directly, but FYI... the Flex T9 keyboard https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuance.flext9.input&feature=search_result is working well on 3.2.
This is the swype alternative that also includes speech to text.It is a bit pricy, but has been very solid.
Interestingly enough though, even though it is installed, it is not showing in the market or under my apps.
Im using swype as I type this. Works fine for me.
umm.... how?! Are you on 3.2?
Correct, swype does not function correctly on 3.2, however they know that this issue exists and are working on a fix.
Actually that is wrong swype may pop an error up from time to time but hit ok and it works fine.
