I love this statement from Google! - Nexus S General

The Nexus S, like the Nexus One before it, is designed to allow enthusiasts to install custom operating systems. Allowing your own boot image on a pure Nexus S is as simple as running fastboot oem unlock. It should be no surprise that modifying the operating system can give you root access to your phone. Hopefully that’s just the beginning of the changes you might make.
So there you have it. Google want you to be able to customise your smartphone as you wish.

I'd love to see Apple make a statement like that about jailbreaking sometime

I'd like to see Apple go out of business.

The BB Playbook will run android apps.... I'm so getting one that thing is sexy
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...k-to-run-Android-apps/articleshow/7473802.cms
RIM plans to integrate the technology with the PlayBook operating system, giving customers access to Android's more than 130,000 apps, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the effort isn't public. RIM, after looking outside the company, is developing the software internally and may have it ready in the second half, two people said.

Why waste thousands of dollars on trying to figure out how to run apk files, when you can simply install AOSP honeycomb, and have it look 1000x better.

What makes you say RIMs OS is horrible? The new QNX based OS looks great. It's funny that you are a WebOS fan, and wouldn't be interested in the PlayBook. They are extremely similar in terms of UI.
I've only read great things about their new OS. If you have some articles saying otherwise, I'd be very interested to see it.

If your going to read into things like these, you have to keep up with them. If this guy would have, he would have known that Verizon currently can't actually see that your phone is rooted.
They HAVE implemented a way to see if your tethering in the new GB release. I think this is 100% acceptable for them to do. Period.
As for getting an iPhone. I'm not going to sit here and bash the phone. I may not like it as much as I do an Android phone, but everyone must admit the iPhone has some pros, like battery life. Everyone I know who has one has amazing battery life. This goes for Apple computers as well. Apple has it right with batteries.

Swings and round abouts, it was actually the jailbreak community they stole everything from. Lots of pee'd of dev's now with redundant apps.
Hell they even employed a dev after already sticking his notification app into iOS 5 - way to avoid any legal issues.
on another note it actually looks more advanced that the android notification system.
without Apple and ios most phones would still be stuck on symbian with Nokia sitting in its hands milking the same crappy and outdated OS for years to come.
Let Apple copy and play catch-up , not a big deal imo.

I agree, I think iPhones (and Blackberrys to some extent) are waaaaaaay over rated, they just have alot of hype.
Take BBM for example, it is almost exactly the same as WhatsApp, yet everyone is going nuts about it. The only feature it has over WhatsApp, is that is has a notification system where it tells you when the recipient has read the message. On the other hand, WhatsApp imo, is alot better because it supports Android, Nokia handsets, IPhone and I think, although not sure, BlackBerry too.
Besides, whats so much better about the iPhone/iPads? Except the fact that everyone glorifies them for no justified reason

One too many times on the bus...

I'd just like to point something out:
When referring to my or any other Android-powered smartphone, do not call it "an Android". That is incorrect; Android is the operating system, not the entire device. I don't run around calling your iPhone an iOS. Go with "Android phone" or "Android device" or something similar.
Secondly, despite Samsung's commercials, calling a device by it's manufacturing name is wrong too. You can argue that all you want: but referring to your Blackberry as a RIM, your iPhone as an Apple, or your Pre Plus as an HP sounds absurd. Android and WP7 devices are created by different manufacturers. So it's even more wrong to do so. It sounds wrong, and it is wrong.

Pretty much this. Who cares what the proper nomenclature is. Calling an Android device an "Android" or a "Droid" isn't any different than calling any brand of facial tissue "Kleenex" or (for you old timers out there like me) any portable cassette player a "Walkman".

I believe the common term for this literary phenomena is "proprietary eponym". 'Kleenex' for facial tissue; 'Xerox machine' for a photocopier, etc etc. Our mod and I live in Central Florida where people drink "Cokes" when they are holding a can of 7-Up...
"Droid" has come on board as any mobile smartphone device NOT manufactured by Apple or RIM.

That is a tough question as there are so many aspects I am not sure where to start.
1. Customization - The IOS UI is a grid of apps, Android can be what you want it to be. Widgets, toggles, clocks, the choices are endless. Also, keyboard choices, not really open on Apple, just modifications of the ios keyboard. I personally really enjoy quickly browsing my news, calendar and weather widgets, without opening an app. Not the case on IOS.
2. Freedom - IOS: Walled into itunes with drm locked media. Android: Play what you want, when you want, on whatever player you want. Choose what media player suits you on your pc, not stuck on that piece of crap bulky itunes program.
3. Useability: IOS forces you to go back to a general options icon to change settings for a large number of apps. Android has app settings integrated into the apps themselves.
4. App returns: Apple are complete pricks when it comes to trying to get a refund for an app. Google Play: For 15 minutes there is a refund button you can click for an instant refund. I personally experienced this on my wife's ipad when purchasing an app that didn't do what it claimed. Had to go onto the desktop itunes program, find some obscure feedback button, only to get a response that I had to take it up with the app developer. When I did, the app developer said they are unable to do refunds through the Apple App store.
I could keep going, but in the end, if people would get over the Apple marketing machine/branding, and try Android, they would quickly realize how much better it is. No scientific analysis here, but everyone I know who has made the switch from Apple to Android has never gone back.
Just want to add, apple saved the music industry with itunes and the music in itunes is not drm locked, you can use it on any player that support aac file format.
And btw I am enjoying the android experience better compared to ios. But in the end both android and ios has their ups and downs and I enjoy both operating systems

Your point is supported, although I disagree with the premise of that article. My opinion is itunes did not in fact save the music industry, but hurt them through prolonging their need to adapt. My premise is based on 2 facts: 1. All industries must change with the times; 2. All market leaders eventually lose market share to innovative competition.
No one will succeed in stopping the inevitability that the internet has changed, and will continue to change, how we purchase and consume media. Free is the way things are going and therefore creative methods must be determined in the music industry to procure other methods of generating revenue. So, if itunes saved the industry by extending the almost extinct practice of purchasing music, what happens when competitors, with no such sale model arise? There is no stopping history based on one company, even the almighty Apple. Instead of finding alternative promotional, ad based, or other methods, the industry has just fed on itunes. Apple's dominance will not last forever, and the industry must adapt to that. Apple's pretty little walled garden will not support them forever.
