Streaming flash video in browser - Fascinate General

Sorry Chopper if this is in the wrong place, but I have not seen anyone talk about this. If it is even possible, I just need to know what level of your magic I need to use on my device to get the streaming video to work in any browser. Why would they even tease me with loading it in my system files? Thanks for any feedback, now get back to work devel-ing.

I try to push any video I get through the youtube player. If that doesn't work, I try skyfire. Not exactly what you asked for, I realize. I just haven't played with video much beyond that on this phone.
Maybe if you posted a place to find the specific video you want to play?
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.

2.2 (or the "F" word) = Videos in browser.
good day.
Edit: why did you apologize to me?

Thought you were a moderator, not up on forum edicate.
I have two weeks that I will not need my phone, rooting will fix most of the issues I am having but I did not see any specific comments on getting flash 10 working on the Fascinate. Wanted to make sure I had my plan down before I started. Odin recovery was my push. Just wanted to see if the video issue might have been an auto fix in any of the updates or ROMs.
I love you guys......

Just to be clear, there is no flash 10 plugin support below android 2.2, no way, no how.
If you need it, you can ask sky fire to downcode video for you with their servers, or you can use remote desktop apps to send you images (vector or raster) of your home computer using flash.
Trying to get flash 10 on your fascinate presently will brick it.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.

Thanks for the clarification. That was what I thought because of the lack of comments on it.
Maybe Santa will bring us 2.2 this weekend.
Thanks again

Is anyone else needing froyo because of online classes?

I'm taking a few online classes that are flash 10.1 based and I would kill for a way to do them on my vibrant.
Does anyone else have this want also? If so, what have you done to your vibrant to help? Or do I have to use a stupid PC until a rom/update?

There is a Flash lite plugin that came with the phone, however it will not work for 10.1. Your just going to have to wait until 2.2 comes out, should be end of september.
You have to use a computer. Full flash only exists for 2.2 and higher. Our phone's CPU is powerfull enough, particularly if they use GPU as well. And I think it was determined we have the correct CPU family to use the existing Flash in the Market once we get 2.2. You could try Eugene's leaked and hacked 2.2 in the dev forum, but I read there were some problems with it. Other than that, we're waiting on Samsung, or maybe CM6. Sounds like the CM guys need drivers from Samsung though.
There's also a browser replacement... Skyfire? That's supposed to make Flash video work. The reviews I read say it's a bit crashy though. And we do have Flash Lite pre-installed, but I'm thinking you already tried that.
Seems like a pain to try and do online classes on a phone, don't you have to write stuff down and do things? or is online school just watching videos.

I can watch videos or read the text book. Really useful as I have a heavy course load and uses wasted time, I.e. car rides, waiting, or to just have it on hand all the time.

You could look into getting a small netbook. The Asus eee PC's are cheap and perfect for what you describe.
+1 for the Asus eee netbooks. I carry one with me every day while I'm driving for work.
Before anyone asks, no I don't look at it while I'm driving.
like mentioned above, download SkyFire browser from the market, it supports flash

The skyfire route didn't solve the issue. A blank window pops up when I try to access the e-book.
I'll just wait I few months for flash support instead of spending a few hundred on a netbook that is probably worse than my phone.

Even if you got foyo it will still be a pain to do it on a phone. Maybe you should get a tablet since you refuse to use a pc.

[Q] Is Flash 10.1 possible on HTC Hero?

Sorry if the answer is obvious but I could nt find a definitive answer anywhere.
So is full flash experience with adobe 10.1 possible on HTC HERO. I have Darchdroid 2.8 running on mine.
thx
guys... theres like 15 other threads asking the same thing, and multiple posts within rom threads..
If you want flash in any kinda way (lite) you need to be running a sense_ui rom
For example both zenheroFX and zenEXP have flash.
Darchdroid, aosp and cm roms will not be able to run it.
Thanks for pointing that out. Really liked DD2.8 otherwise.
what are you guys doing that makes you want/need flash on a phone with a tiny screen? I really am curious, I cannot think of anything that I would want to do on a phone that requires flash. Are you trying to play face book flash games or something? Hulu could maybe be a use, but flash video barely works on an Atom running anything but windows, so it sure as hell isn't going to work on an ARM running android...
I am interested in some news websites that show live feed of tv channel. went to sprint's store and evo played it really well.
so flash video.... the evo is a much faster phone, also htc put a lot of effort into the version of flash that's on there.

[Q] Hulu on epic with froyo?

Anyway we can get hulu working with the froyo build?
i searched the other forums and found a modded flash.apk for nexus one that allows them to use for hulu, but i installed it and followed the about:debug instructions and the browser does not detect that flash player for some reason.
the thread from which i got the working apk and instructions is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688054
i also tried the evo hex edited flash player, i think the two might be the exact same, but that one has same prob as well.
Didnt Hulu block out mobile phones for now? There will be a Hulu app coming soon for $9.99.

Well, yea. The point I think the OP is trying to make is that it would be cool to bypass their blocking and get Hulu for free like it should be instead of paying 10 dollars a month and still have video riddled with ads.

Its actually a hex-edited flash.apk. I've tried everything I could to get it to install on the Epic with 2.2. Couldn't get it to install. This is due to 1 of 2 problems:
1) Flash Player for the Evo is device specific (one of the errors hinted to this)
2) Can't entirely remove previous Flash Player
Solution:
We Hex-edit our own Flash Player to get it to work. This is beyond my expertise. If someone wants to give it a try, we need it to be hex-edited so that websites think we are using flash for windows.
Having trouble with this still... seems like there is a problem with the remount script for this ROM. Doesn't seem to properly remount /system/. I can't seem to make edits.
Hulu on the epic
Hulu on the epic. I got it figured out for the most part. One file needs to be reapplied after every reboot, but it is working solidly. Below is the thread link I started.

someone figured it out... and it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841472
It should be in a rom tomorrow. Thanks to nc2nc2.

Flashable update for anyone on Froyo.

flash player 10.1 question

Is there a full version (not lite) working on the epic? I picked up my epic yesterday, came from the hero. Im rooted with the syndicate rom, but noticed the "fully loaded" version only had the flash lite...is the full 10.1 not available?
Ive searched around the forum but searching for anything with "flash" doesnt exactly narrow down the results very well, lol.

Flash player 10.1 won't be available ntil we get FroYo - feel free to join that drama if you want to. I am tempted to go back to the hero over all the babies around here.

Hey I remember you from the Hero I noticed the drama but have no idea what its all about. Is it surrounding Froyo? Would love to get filled in sometime
Here's another question...any issuses with the syndicate rom and getting headphones to work? I use an AUX cable to listen to music in my car, and on the hero it switched to headphones when plugged in, but on the epic it doesnt change and keeps outputting sound through the phone. Any ideas?
Ya, I just landed here a week ago, also coming from hero. I have got to agree about the drama. This is actually my Third xda community and I have never seen such a climate. Hope it calms down. I come here for cooperation.
That seems to be an issue with non-stock kernels, or if you are running tock, you aren't running the most current firmware, they have fixed it. I'm running froyo and loving it. I am still using dj29, no dk05. I don't see the need, everything I want works, ujust missing 2 paid apps in the market (understandable due to non official business). Got hulu working great, created a bookmark shortcut to go to the widget player so I can run it fullscreen in landscape. Love this phone, just ignore the drama. I have made 0 comments on it cause really, I don't care, I'm happy as a pig in **** with my froyo. There is definitely a battery boost, too as long as you wipe battery stats properly.

(REQ) Can someone deodex DJ05?

I have searched and found out how, but adb just won't work for me, period, so I am stuck. Can anyone deodex DJ05?
It's already been deodexed.
For a long time.

As close to stock as possible? All I have found were other roms that had stuff removed that I actually use, and by just replacing the apks, they no longer work. if you could maybe post a link instead of just say its been done and for a long time it might actually help. Otherwise, you just come off a rude and unhelpful, whether that's your intention or not. Thanks
Why don't you download a deodexed one then replace the apks yourself through rom manager? You can't expect devs to tailor a deodexed package just for you though. Just saying

Tried that and had said that some of the things didn't work properly...like vcast music would not full ,download songs, license aquisition would fail everytime. I never realized that so many people would flame me for requesting this. Someone was nice enough to post a deodexed DI01, thought maybe it could happen with DJ05. Sorry I asked now
Not flaming just bring realistic. I don't know of any roms that keep vcast music though since almost no one uses it. good luck getting it to work though
Sent from my sch-i500 using dj05 w/ stupidfast kernel
What led me to the flaming was your good luck comment, I'm sorry if I misinterpreted. I like vcast because it bills to my account and I don't have to use my card every time plus less things have my card info. Had my identity stolen once, I'm a little over cautious
Why don't you just use music junk for music? Or does vcast have features other than downloading music?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
if you search google for 'dj05 deodexed', the first result is a post on another forum that has a link to the rom you want. i'm not sure if i'm allowed to link to files from other forums, but you can easily search google and get it.
EDIT: here, i'll make it even easier for you: http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=dj05+deodexed
www.androiddoes.net/sonofskywalker3/roms/StockDeodexedDJ05.zip
the reason that vcast music doesn't work on Blackhole is that the DRM files have been removed. Dont know if you tried Blackhole or not, but other roms may have it removed as well. haven't had a request to get vcast music working yet so i haven't messed with it. enjoy the stock deodexed dj05, and don't worry about people giving you a hard time. you know what you want, why you want it, and don't have to explain yourself to anyone.
Btw, if the deodex failed on something to do with LBS, it's not necessary, just delete the apk and odex file altogether. just a piece of advice in case you want to try again.
Edit: retracted (way too harsh)
Do you have an account with amazon? If you do, they have an mp3 downloader app. Generally very good bitrates and you don't have to reenter information every time. Good luck again and sorry if I came off as snarky

Thanks, I first used blackhole, but ran into the whole some things were gone our when I re-added the apk the apps would be there but wouldn't work right. I really appreciate your positivity. I came from the world of RIM, where I could do anything I wanted to my bb, but haven't reached that level yet with my fascinate. (i mean I could actually tweak the os with leaked versions etc) if I could get my computer to let adb work I would be in a whole new boat, but sadly I think I will have to use the work of geniuses like yourself.

I do have an amazon acct, but never used their mp3 service. The extra .70 doesn't kill me for the occassional song I don't download from itunes or just buy the album in BestBuy. It's just nice to have the ability to get one song directly on my phone and still be able to download for my computer too. A lot of people don't realize that while you pay 1.99, you get the instant download on the phone, another when you log in to rhapsody, and have the ability to bill to carrier. Its a convenience thing for me. It's ok that you came off snarky, I realized you weren't being a total @ss, and thanked your post. I understand some parolee get frustrated when noobs like me ask for this stuff, but then again, the title said what I needed and the others opened it and commented just to be rude. (you aren't included there)
I appreciate the help I have been given and hopefully with a little bit more time, I will be able to help others. That's seriously the point to these forums right? To help each other out?
cough, cough.
good day.
There's an app called mp3 music download. I use it all the time. Its free. The musics free. Even stores the song on your sd.
