Hi fellows,
I'm using the custom rooted rom from "X8 Custom ROM" thread, installed in the internal memory.
I have installed JIT succeeded as well.
My Quadrant score ~920. Linpack score ~8.
In spite of this facts, my phone is laggy!
Why is it?
How could I fix it?
The factorial 2.1 rom worked well without JIT and root rights. :[
My phones performance improved vastly when I restored the original 2.1 framework-res.apk. Give that a shot.
Also try restoring everything missing from the /system/app folder.

Sorry for been off topic but how did you get such a high score? Mines only 542 with the clean rooted rom and jit enabled...

I don't know. But I'm not the only one with this score.
Possible that the original rom won't give me this really high score. But the system stability more important for me.
* update *
All right. I reflashed my phone with original rooted rom.
Now my Quadrant score is: 974 with JIT. Nice.
Probably this score come from chargemon app2sd solution with data.im file. I use this.
Question: Which better?
1.) Chargemon mount app2sd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876868 or
2.) Dalvik cache app2sd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880387
My Linpack = 7,689; Quadrant = 534 only
I use Clean-PreRooted 2.1 + JiT + App2sd (with sdcard class2).
As per my experience, the speed of my phone almost the same as if I had an original 2.1 rom

I have class2 sd card as well.
Unfortunately I have'nt ran speed test before app2sd. I think app2sd increases my speed test... hm... i don't know.
If you give a screenshot, we can compare the partial results like io and processor scores.

i tried both. the 2nd option is better. no laggy. mounting from data.img makes the phone slow i think as it mount the whole /data folder.
original app2sd mounted app folder only and modded app2sd by neptun mount app and dalvik cache folder.
that makes it faster.
Cool. I have applied Dalvik cache app2sd.
Much more faster. Thx.
Quadrant core is only 520 with JIT but the UI much more stable.
On the contrary, i have 600 Mb ext2 partition on my sd card but the system see only 212 Mb. Why?
I have got answare in the other thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10012263&postcount=26

As I tought before. The I/O hangling much more faster with data.img mounting but the system speed. I think we should buy a class10 sd card for that.

Hi my friend ...
i used quandrant and my score is 434 !!!
Why ?
I'm using pre-rooted 2.1 and jit ....
What application do you use for benchmark ??
Hi
dont you think that the fastest way would be the dalvik cache stay in internal, and data/app only in ext2 app2sd method?? I know that dalvik uses some space that is needed free, but on class2 SD card dalvik may slow down the system ??
what do u think, the author of dalvik+app2sd suggests that class4 is required. I have only sandisk class2 8gb, may it be suitable, not to slow down anything ?
thanks
btw: about lagginess, you can wipe dalvik cache in mini recovery, if you use JIT, it can help.
Edit: tried with and without dalvik on sd. I must say that without dalvik on sd, its really faster on class 2 cards.

You can install Kmapp.apk , it will give u lots of options to fiddle around with hybrid data2sd, app2sd etc.
HOpe it helped, thanks smonic if it did.
still my question is how to check either its working or not...
because if its working.. thn y my internal storage is getting reduce...???

1. do you have partition on sd card?
2.did you copy Android folder to root of sdcard and owerwrited
it?
3.did you set in titanium backup to restore backups to internal?
and try KMapp to check out if hd2sd is ticked in app....
and under hds2d settings in KMapp check if you have ticked following:
app, log, dalvik cache..under dalvik cache there are few options what to move....and remeber: it is important that you copy this folder(Android) to root of ur sdcard...
http://db.tt/b5ahm2zW
unzip it to sdcard and owerwrite it....

what r u saying is first u enable hybrid app2sd after that u make partition..?
it very simple just follow this STEP BY STEP... which Kyrillos said..
Optional, Enable Hybrid Data2sd [More space for apps!]
- Make a backup of your sdcard, enter CWM recovery and go to Miscellaneous => Partition SD Card. Choose the sizes you want (Recommended:512-1Gb ext, and 0mb swap]. After the partition completes, wipe data and reboot. You can now copy back all your sdcard files which you did a backup.
- Then copy the contents of the sdcard folder in your sdcard and reboot. No wipe data required, the first reboot may take time.
- Install titanium and go to titanium backup's preferences, and select Restore Backups to => Internal Storage. Then do your restore...

How to unpartition?
Hi, I used kyrillos rom before I installed cm7 a7 and in kyrillos I enabled HD2S and partitioned my sdcard with 512mb, after some time I installed a fresh copy of cm7 from odin, and my sdcard still has a maximum of 6.9GB instead of 7,4gb so i was wondering if there is a way to restore my sdcard to it's previous state?
A Little Help Plz
I installed kyrillos 9.0....
Updated to v9.5....Successfully!
Copied the four files necessary for HYBRID DATA2SD to my sd card
Went into cwm nd partitioned my sd card ..... successfully!
Installed Titanium Backup which shows the partition (a2sd)
went into terminal evaluator which shows hybrid data2sd script running
But still whenever i install apps, my internal memory gets low ???
I installed Kmapp also and have HYBRID DATA2SD enabled with "app, dalvik cache & log" checked
What did i do wrong?
Remedies please..
Thanks In advance
[KERNEL][STOCK GB 2.3.x] 14-12-2012 PSN>> Kernel Memory-Modded SWAPALL v3.0 & SuperSU
Presenting users of stock roms and stock-based custom roms for S5830(Galaxy ACE),
PSN>> kernel
Features:
1: Compiled from Battery Extender 1.5.1 sources. (thanks to LibiSC)
2: Memory Mod applied (thanks to Doc_cheilvenerdi.org)
3: Swap enabled
4: Optional OC suport (max 960MHz)
5: Default ondemand CPU governor
6: Default deadline I/O scheduler
7: Kernel has inbuilt support for ext3, ext4, cifs filesystems (no kernel modules needed for these)
8: SU binary and apk updated to v3.1.1
9: a2sd suport completely removed from kernel to avoid any interference with memory mod
10: Rest same as in Battery Extender 1.5.1 kernel
Also available nims kernel with memory-mod applied & noswap/swap/swapall versions, OC supported. (thanks to nims11)
also BatteryExtender v1.6 mem-mod swapall-v3.0 OC supported available! (14-12-2012)
also BatteryExtender v1.2 mem-mod swapall-v3.0 SuperSU-0.99 supported available! (03-03-2013) (UNTESTED COZ NO ACE ANYMORE )
also Space Kernel v4 mem-mod swapall-v3.0 SuperSU-v1.20 supported available! (03-03-2013) (UNTESTED COZ NO ACE ANYMORE )
REGARDING publishing sources of these kernels: it is completely same as the sources posted by LibiSC BatteryExtender 1.5.1 & nims stock OC kernel on github; I haven't made any changes in it whatsoever.
Note:
1: sdext has to be formatted in ext4 only
2: Do not install a2sd or link2sd...or even any other init.d script for memory extension like armurulz script. You will fall into problems.!
3: The original data on internal /data is not moved onto the memory card partition mounted as /data.
4. The memory card sd-ext partition will be used unless phone is switched off and will not be unmounted during USB MASS Storage(only the fat32 partition will be unmounted; ie normal mass storage works perfectly).. BUT, you can physically remove your memory card (safely) only when phone is switched OFF.
5. When installing apps via apk or google play, they will be moved to sdcard by default(native android app2sd)... so if u want ur phone to always move future apps to be installed in the vast internal storage, do following in android terminal app or adb shell on PC:
su
pm setInstallLocation 1
Q.) What is this MEMORY MOD ??
A.)
Users of fast scards (class 6 or above recomended) can utilise their second sdcard partition (sd-ext) as phone's internal storage (/data) without any link2sd/a2sd/other init.d scripts.
If your sdext partition is 1GB wide, your phones internal memory (/data) will be 1GB wide.. tension free installation & use of apps.
How does it Work:
Scenario 1:
I switch on the Phone, without a MicroSD slotted in or with a microSD with a single FAT32 partition (broken or damaged microSD also suite this scenario...); GingerBread boots as usual!
No Difference!
Pure stock rom flashed via odin(rfs) or stock-based custom roms(ext4) supported.
Scenario 2:
I switch on The Phone with a microSD slotted in (with the second partition formatted as EXT4 filesystem but still EMPTY); Ginger boots acting as if
/data
is completely moved outside to microSD but just WIPED (not true obviously, and the original /data is safe inside the phone), so it resettle it from beginning...
Scenario 3:
I switch on the Phone with the second partition of the microsd (EXT4) up and running (already resettled up for use and with my userdata on it); Ginger simply boots with sdext as /data on microSD with your userdata there and tons of apps just installed from the market...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MEMORY-MODDED SwapAll v3.0 kernels:
1: Original Internal Storage (/dev/stl13) is formatted to be used as swap partition entirely so as to fully take advantage of fast internal data partition and relieving read/write load on memory card.
3: The third swap partition on memory card created using CWM or MiniTool or Gparted (/dev/block/mmcblk0p3) IF FOUND is used as swap space, with lower priority . So it will be used for swapping only when above mentioned swap partiton on internal data storage is full.
4: Swappiness set at 30 here.
5: after flashing this kernel you wont be able to directly do a nandroid backup in cwm; so format(wipe) "/data" in recovery before attempting nandroid backup.
6: if you want to revert to any other mem-mod kernel then flash PSN_EXT4_Recovery_based_DATA_ONLY_Format_Tool-signed.zip before flashing other mem-mod kernel, thats it !
7: if you want to revert to other non-modded kernel, just do a factory reset using this tool (PSN_factory_reset_EXT4_Recovery_based_Format_Tool-signed.zip) and you need to setup all again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note:
1: Highly recomended for use on fresh installation so that 120-160 MB of free space is available at internal /data storage for swapfile; else u can use INTERNAL DATA STORAGE formatting tool provided.
2: You can easily switch between any swapall kernels but with formatting ONLY the INTERNAL DATA STORAGE using provided tool so as to ensure swapall working.. no need to wipe anythng else
3: All Memory-mod kernels are interchangeable; but swap configurations are different !
4: Swapall versons will take approx 5-10 seconds more to boot becuse of swapfile creation on boot ! Later on its quite fast !!!!
5: Nims swapall v2.0+ kernels have bootanimation working !

Some Tips
-: TIPS for faster responsiveness & performance :-
1: If your /system has enough free space, use it to move system dalvik-cache elements to ROM using Titanium Backup Pro. This will help in quick response to open system apps like contacts, sms, phone dialer etc.
2: If your /system still has enough free space, use it to move your "most frequently used" user-app into ROM using "convert to system app" option in Titanuim Backup. Now, some apps may not work when moved into rom (example=quickpic), then you can move it to /data again by "convert to user app". Because ROM (/system) has faster read speed, apps installed in it will open faster.
3: NOW ADRENALINE ENGINE v4.3 & v4.4 COMPATIBLE WITH MEMORY-MOD KERNELS AVAILABLE ! see here >> STOCK ROM PAGE
This is Much Needed Amazing Job!

what about if i have Class 4?
Well technically anyone with a partitioned memory card can use it, no limitations... But class 6 or higher is recomended to for avoiding slow boot times and slow read/writes from memory card....
A CLASS 4 user can try this without issues other than slower speed.

- /data is mounted on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (where /sdext used to be mounted before)
- size of ur sdext partition = size of ur ace's internal memory
- swapfile will boost up apps and help in ram expansion
- sdext has to be in ext4 only!
- recomended class6 or above sd cards for optimal performance.
Note:
- i have not made any changes in kernel source and have not modified core kernel zImage.
- an SDEXT PARTITION is COMPULSORY.
- user data on original internal storage will not be moved onto new /data and fresh rom setup has to be done
- DO NOT USE S2E or A2SDX init.d script or other such scripts with this kernel, u will fall into problems!
- FOR SWAPALL-v3.0: if you need to do a nandroid backup, format(wipe) "/data" in recovery before attempting backup else there will be an error(unable to mount /data)
- for detailed info on this mod, visit original PSN>> stock kernel mod page >HERE<
Preparation(for upgrade):
1: reboot into recovery
2: format original internal data storage (/dev/stl13) using recovery tool >>PSN DATA ONLY EXT4 FORMAT TOOL<<

Testing in progress. So far I'm noticing a slightly longer opening time for some applications, but a far more greater responsiveness in heavier applications (like dead space, angry birds space...).
Great job!
Edit: I confirm this is working great. Major improve in multitasking and gaming without visible bugs and/or instability problems. That's THE mod, man! Just gave my phone a new life!

Ok for me testing is complete.
Better that previous version, which had hangs of the applications in some cases, this one hasn't any.
And I should say it again, this one's the best thing I tried till now, I can't believe it wasn't done before! Playing Dead Space receiving messages popups in-game and without having launcher redraws on the exiting of the game was unbelievable till now...

NOW AVAILABLE Adrenaline Engine CM 4.4 compatible with PSN Memory Mod Kernels (CHECK ATTACHMENT !)
(Thanks to Imbawind for giving us adrenaline engine)
Changelog for SWAPALL v3.0 version:
1: removed code involving use of build.prop entries as it proved to be buggy
2: intenal data(/dev/stl13) will be formatted to linux swap filesystem and will be setup for use with priorities along with mmc swap partition
3: swappiness set at 30
Changelog for SWAPALL v2.2.1 version: (OBSOLETE, REMOVED !)
1: new code for conditional /data-swap mounting & swapfile activation
- /data-swap (/dev/stl13) will be activated when sdext is successfully mounted as /data
- swapfile on /data-swap will be created only when it is not present; if already present then it is just prepared for swap use
- used following build.prop entries managed automatically by kernel on auto-detection of sdext mount and swapfile status, thus governing conditional /data-swap mounting and swapfile activation:
PSN_ENABLE_SDEXT_DATA=1
PSN_SWAPFILE_PRESENT=0
PSN_SWAP_MAKE_NEW=1 (initial value)
- if sdext is not detected (unsuccessful mount) due to any particular reason then /data-swap is not mounted but instead /data is mounted on /dev/stl13 (traditional internal storage) and the swapfile is deleted.
- a bettter busybox is used by this kernel rather than one that comes with cm7 and it replaces busybox on rom with required symlinks.
2: SuperSU v0.97 is integrated in kernel and will replace Superuser in rom along with its su binary

im gonna work on new version which will create swapfile only on 1st boot (longer first boot) and then in subsequent boots it will just reformat swapfile(shorter boot time)
I was planning to try this on Thursday, but if new version comes before Thursday night maybe i should wait.
I suppose it is not possible to update from actual version to the one you are going to release is it?

Before installing Mozilla Firefox using playstore I had phone memory of 50mb free....
But after download procedure was completed , during installation my phone restarted automatically & after the reboot I couldn't find the Firefox app in app drawer , and the free phone memory was less by 20 MB.
I cleared the cache but still the phone memory is 30 MB free instead it should be 50 MB.
..
Pls help because 20 MB means a lot to me using my Galaxy Y
normal, after install the one the file is bigger and the apk is big
Root your phone easy with update.zip and after that install link2sd and place your apps on your sd card.
I m already using link 2sd

Your signature is probably taking up the extra space
Anyways so u have a second partition using link2sd? if so in options hit re-link library files and dalvik cache
Or are you just using it to force move apks to your sd card if so see how big the lib and dex for if Firefox is the lib is stored in internal memory so that may be your problem to move to sd you'll need a second partition

Try this, all GB ROM with Init.d script support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853669
I used Akuro DT2SD, it was great can move DATA/APP/DALVIK-CACHE to SDExt, never shown notification for memory full.
But reduce your SDCard life.
just link the dalvik cache to your 2nd partition.. :highfive:
if you still need help.. you can use link2sd but use these procedures... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259175... don't move data folder in sdext2... your phone will perform poorly
I flashed my HD2 with MIUI 2.3.7 some time ago, but now I'm constantly getting low internal storage errors. One thing I didn't do when I flashed this ROM was repartition the SD card (and I think this ROM has A2SD built in?). So I know that might probably help getting rid of the errors.
But when I checked the phone's internal memory, I saw "200 MB used - 18 MB free". So that's a total of 218MB internal memory? I'm pretty sure I'm missing at least 200Mb there.
I have another HD2 here (running AmeriCanAndroid from SD) so I checked its internal memory under "About Phone". On the HD2 with ACA, it says it has a total of 411MB internal memory. On the HD2 with MIUI, it says it has a total internal memory of 217MB. So where's the missing 194MB?
I read somewhere that the phone probably has a wrong "ClockworkMod Recovery partition layout" and that for MIUI, it needs a "150MB Partition Layout". The article didn't actually explain what those things are or how to set it up.
So, is that indeed what's going on here (any way to check)? And if so, how can I change my phone to this "150MB Partition Layout?"
Thanks in advance.
Like I said, it was quite a while ago when I flashed this ROM so I can't remember what I did when I did. But looking at my HD2 folder on my PC, I probably *did* use a 150MB ClockWorkMod recovery partition size. Also, I *did* create a 1GB ext partition on my SD Card for A2SD.
So why am I getting the "low internal storage" errors?
Many possibilities, could be the ext partition not being recognized, not in proper format...
The script may not be working (?). And you're never going to get the whole 512MB of your ROM. I think it's maximum 400, give or take. so about 400 - 150 you're left with about 250 .. I don't know where that 50 went (maybe it is not actually 400? or maybe you set a slightly larger partition).
I also never believed in a2sd, always datatoext. Your best bet is to back up your apps using titanium (or similar apps), check the partitions, and reflash ROM + a different script; that is because you can't flash a script while having been used the rom. (or you can try your luck).
dat english.
I second that, app2sd is not reliable to get more memory available.
Lack of internal storage is due to a incorrect system partition. It has nothing to do with your ext4 partition, since you're not running NativeSD.
DataOnEXT is your best option. Backup your app data and flash a ROM from start with DataOnExt option.
Be sure to make your system size large enough.
Create an ext4 partition on your sd of 1 to 2 GB for app storage.
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda app-developers app
You should use Cronmod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 INT2EXT+ is recommended
Flash your rom on nand (without dataonext) then flash Cronmod(you must have ext4 partition, 1gb is good)
On clk 1.5 you can easily change partition sizes without computer

Yes, it is. But the script you're using is useless. Use DataOnExt instead.
WARNING: You need to do a fresh install, so make a backup beforehand.
I tried DataOnExt and I can't get it to work. It keeps giving me force close errors on almost every app/widget and when I reboot my phone, all my widgets loose their settings.

Try a different ROM, and increase your /system size to 285MB or 300-350MB if you have badblocks.

You can't dirty flash it, you need a fresh install. If you do a dirty one, everything will force close.
Have you considered using NativeSD?

I second this, NativeSD can be great.
The only few cons I know of, is that NAND is a tad bit more responsive (even with highclass SD cards), battery life is shorter than if you only were to use NAND and your SD card will wear out quicker.
Other than that, it's basically superious to NAND.
