Rooting Question - Fascinate General

I rooted a friend of mine's Fascinate. Everything is working up to par, but when I try to apply the update.zip it says.
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
What have I done wrong? can't seem to find the similar issues on the forum.

Have you downloaded Rom Manager? If not do that and then open the program and press "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" That should fix the issue.
Edit: If that doesn't help read how to install clockwork here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798064

I did install rom manager and flashed the recovery like it said in the instructions. That's why im a little confused. Haha.

Just put Liquid in Restore mode -> Volume UP + Camera + Power button and with Acer Tools flash it again with some BIN file. Its ease.
If you need more help- say
Never used Clockwork Recovery.
Install MalezRecovery and flash the ROM you want to flash without signature check.
Or flash a ROM which is signed like LCR-F- http://lcr-team.org/v1/index.php
Or just flash a new bin:
Here is a how to guide- http://android.modaco.com/content/a...rial-how-to-flash-bin-files-on-acer-liquid-e/

[Q] Unable to install ROM (Signature Failed)

Hey guys,
I am trying to install a shipped ROM I put the downlaoded zip onto the root of my SD card then I use ROM manager to install from SD card but when it reboots and tries to install it says signature verification failed. Whats wrong?
Try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
For general help..
For installing Shipped ROM RUU's, Connect Wildfire to your PC, and run the EXE File. If you are using an Update ZIP from Shipped ROM's, do remember two things:
* All update ZIPs there are for the 2.2 OTA Updates. You will lose root and Clockworkmod Recovery
* The update ZIPs are for a specific base. Example: 2.25.720.1 can only be applied to 1.25.720.1 and so on. So, if you want an official Froyo, first, flash the official Eclair base, then, flash the update ZIP of that particular base.
just toggle signature verification off in the install .zip menu, then it should work
I have tried to toggle the signature but then when I try to install again it comes up with another error
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
maybe wrong download? try to extract the zip file.. or download it again.
I have had signature failed too, but disabling signature check helped me.
And when we using rooted phones, who cares about "right" signature?
Shipped roms (ruu's)come in .exe which are installed from your pc, not .zip, maybe you're being confused.
Are you trying to install a rom or a ruu?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
have this issue too, disabling signature verification helps, who care about signatures when we using rooted phones?
Maybe you have wrong download, try to download zip again.
sorry for dual-post
maybe try another new rom
signature verification failed

[Q] ClockworkMod errors?

Here is my problem. I've been running Sonofskywalker3's 4.01 DL30 rom for a couple of days (loving it). I installed an app that broke my "back" button. I booted into recovery (the stock one) and did a full wipe reinstall. Then I was stuck in a boot loop.
I used Odin to flash a DL09 tar from here. Then I rooted using this method.
Every time I tried flashing a ROM I got an error about not having signed files. I installed ClockworkMod from here using the Red install listed near the bottom.
Now I can boot into ClockworkMod 2.5.0.4 (green) from ROM Manager and at one point I was able to manually boot into the RED ClockworkMod by manually holding down both volume buttons at boot up, applying the sdcard:update.zip in the stock recovery (2e).
I tried to flash the DL30 ROM again from ROM Manager (Sonofskywalker's ROM). I just get errors saying "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1) (Device or resource busy).
I thought it might be the SD Card so I tried a different SD Card and exact same error. I even got the same error with the RED ClockworkMod
Is there a way I can flash something with Odin and get it to work? Right now I'm in the phone (not bricked) but I don't have vibrate (really weird). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

+1 this is the fix for all soft bricks. so just keep that file on your desktop like i do.
Same here
I am having the same issue. I have flashed DL01 and still cannot flash CWMrecovery that worked before. My issue will never push out the update.zip. I remember my CWM was 2.5.1.0 (green) before 2.2. Anyone else have this issue? I think I'm doing something wrong since this is happening to two different Fascinates or 2.2 leak changes something deeper that our odin cannot correct.
*** I resolved my issue: my root did not take. After I rooted, I was able to flash from Rom Manager ***
Where do I get the DL01 file? Can someone post a link? I'll be home soon and I can try it out.

Thank you. I had actually just found it and came back here to post it and found that you had beat me to it. I actually just flashed DJ05 and then had to re-root. I'm about to try rom manager again but I think it might have just been that I wasn't completely rooted (crossing fingers).
Now I'm getting this error:
E: failed to verify whole-files signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I guess it's on to DI01...
Try flashing CWM through Odin now. When I got the same error I flashed the tar file via Odin and then it worked perfect
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
OK... Trying that now. I'm trying the RED one. Is that right?
Ok... It looks like it's working... (fingers crossed)
Well... It worked... mostly...
When I am in ROM Manager and it reboots it gets messed up and ends up at the stock recovery. Then I run sdcard update.zip and it goes to clockworkmod and starts flashing the new ROM. It starts off with an error saying that there are some missing bitmaps or something, but then it works.
Not perfect but close enough (I guess.)
That's pretty much the way it is working for all of us I think. I know JT addressed the missing bitmap error in one of the new CWM threads. Glad it worked!

[Q] Anyone else use Cyanogen's Nexus One guide to run stock GRI40 with root?

Hey everyone
I have a stock unrooted Nexus One running 2.3, and finally want to root. I want to root but stay on stock 2.3, is this possible?
From what I've been reading, many suggested just using this guide, but leaving out the last step:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
So basically do everything except flashing the cyanogen update zip file.
But will following this result in having root on GRI40? Didn't see the guide mention anything about rooting.
Appreciate any advice for this root noob
Thanks!
Steps 1, 2 & 3, then flash su.zip from recovery to root your current system...

Another odd behaviour, after I reboot and choose "Bootloader" it takes me to the next screen (still with the 3 Androids on skateboards).
It pauses (can't select anything), then briefly displays this, before letting me proceed. This text only appears for a second, I had to use a camera to capture the text.

Question.
In order to preserve my locked bootloader can I passimg back to 2.2.2 or 2.2.1 and superoneclick root and flash a stock but rooted 2.3.3 rom over it?
Or would that not work because with my locked bootloader I would be unable to flash an unsigned rom?

I'm guessing you're using Amon Ra, in which case, you need to turn off signature verification...
Everything else is normal...

Thanks Danger Rat, I got it working.
Where I had gone wrong, was after putting on the recovery image, I was booting into the default Android recovery mode, not Amon Ra's one (I had to hold down volume down on the boot).
Then I could turn off signature verification and flash the su.zip.
Rooted, thanks!

your going to have to flash CWM, also what rom are you on? it sounds like your aboot image is not right
4.4 Roms can not be flashed using 2.6.3.2 you need to find a version of 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4 for your device.

Hi.. First step is to follow step by step th is guide i link to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46204640
If u succes to install stock Rom.. Then u re root and install unofficial cwm, Can be found in ur devices forum.
Then download/transfer The cm rom u wanted, and GAapps IF needed... Just remember to read install instructions and follow them. And do a backup before installing cm rom

2.6.3.3 and .4 typically come in a flashable zip. You flash it in twrp like you would a ROM and it updates it.
If you do not have a ROM downloaded you can use to get back to a ROM to download side zip file, then you should check the thread on here (that you should have originally used to get your recovery image to flash on your phone.)
And follow the directions on there how to push it using adb. Once that's done you should be able to flash normally.

Update? Please reply if it worked for you.. And i would recommend u to use CWM, because alot of people, experience problems using twrp including myself..
