[Q] USB PC network instead of WifI PC... - Wildfire General

Hi!
I wonder, is it, and if so how, possible to use an USB connection to get access to the internet with Wildfire (the phone). You know, as instead of the WiFi conn or mobile net.
In simple words; can I use my computer's connection thru USB, to gain internet access for my phone?
And secondly (to some it might seem as a stupid question, but bare with me, PLZ?), is it possible to be connected thru UTP cable, you know from modem to computer's network card adapter, AND THEN to plug a wireless receiver in a computer and use it as a "transponder", o better yet to use it as a WiFi ethernet connection so I could acces the internet with my phone. Some sort of a bridge...? But firstly, is it possible to use the receiver as a transponder in such a way?
Do you know what I mean?
Thank you!

you can usb tether if that's what you're asking.

I couldn't find any thing about this on google. The problem is that It has many thread explaining how to use the phone as modem and not the inverse.
My network adapter is an Intel Wi-Fi 4965AGN. Can I put this adapter to work on acces point and send internet to my phone?
You should be able to plug the Cat5 cable into the netbook and then turn on internet connection sharing on the Cat5 Network Connection. You then need to bridge that and the wireless adapter connection and set the wireless up as an ad-hoc network. You then join the ad-hoc network with the Touch HD.
Look here for how to do it: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx

What does Internet Sharing do?

Dear all,
I have a HTC Hero and recently installed Android 2.1 ROM by Paul. In the USB connection type settings, There are 4 choices: charge only, HTC sync, disk drive, Internet sharing.
I want to connect my phone to my PC by a USB cable to surf the Internet. However, I found it only works when I connect using the Internet sharing mode. Only in this mode can I find a device usb0 on my PC(ArchLinux). By lsusb -v, I found the phone is regarded as a storage device in charge and sync mode, and an Ethernet sharing device in Internet sharing mode.
So my question is, what does Internet sharing do? Is there a method to similar work based on the charge mode so it doesn't bother opening up the mobile network? Because I don't need a mobile network at all. I just want the device usb0 appear on my PC.
Thanks a lot~
Im a bit confused here..
Do you want to use your phones 3g connected by usb to surf the internet on your computer?
Or as your post suggests do you actually want to surf the internet on your phone using a usb connection to your computers connection?
Oh, I don't have 3G at all...I want to surf the Internet on my phone through my computer via USB.
Actually after a night's work the problem has been solved. The main part of it is to do a usb_function_switch to wake up usb0. However, I still don't quite know the inner mechanism of it. If who'd explain a little more detailedly, I'd rather appreciate that.

I dont have wireless router, i have an optic fiber connection coming directly from somewhere underground
Bump
Anyone ? I really nead this :|
If you don't have Wifi, what are you expecting to do?
Your only other option is setting up an ad-hoc network with your computer (if your computer has a Wifi card capable) and set it to internet sharing, and have the X10 connect to your ad-hoc network.

Replace "X10" with "Android"
Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

If you mean tethering your HD2 to your PC and allowing your PC to connection to the internet via your phones internet then just go to the Andriod Market and do a serch for tether apps or internet sharing apps. If your PC has WiFi capabilities just use a hotspot app.
If you mean share your computers internet connection with your HD2, I really don't know it that is possible. But to do it you would have to go into your connections settings on your PC and he k allow other computers and devices to connect to the internet through this computer. It might be in networking. But what is easieast is just vet a WiFi router and use the WiFi apartheid ilities to connect.

Sorry about the spelling I was sleepy when I typed that. The easy way is to get a WiFi router to hook up to your home internet connection and set up a WiFi network at your home. Then you can use your HD2'S WiFi capabilities to connect to your WiFi network while at home. It is really nice because you do not have to be tethered to a computer or a hub with a USB cable. Now to be honest I really don't know if you can share your computers internet connection with your HD2 via your USB cable. If it is possible you will have to check allow other computers and devices to connect to the internet through this computer. This should be in networks you might have to try to set up a home network on your computer to allow your HD2 to connect to the internet via your USB cable. Hope this helps.
I had see an option to share PC's internet connection with phone via USB in motoman MyPhone 4G port for HD2. did not test it tho'

It's possible.
Please use "Reverse USB Tethering" with a kernel which supports USB Tethering.

[Q] Tethering

Hello,
I would like to ask if there is any tethering app which will allow me to share my wifi internet trough phone via usb to my old computer?
I have Cm10 rom but if it will be neccessary I will change it even to stock because its very important for me. Thanks in advance for help.
The process is called reverse tethering. Did a google search and I think this should work https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littlelan.ReverseTether.Trial&hl=en
Hmm... I don't think you understood me well.
I will explain...
I have wifi internet in my house but i have not got a possibility to connect my router via cable with my computer which doesnt have wifi.
So I would like to use my phone as wifi adapter (via usb) to have internet on my computer.
U sure that this program is good for me?
Did you enebled usb tetherin?
I think it should be the same way if you were connect to 3G, just connect to wifi network and enable the native usb tethering feature.
