I would love to lock this phone into 3G-only mode like I had with my Vibrant. I tried entering the code *#*#197328640#*#* as I did on the OS 2.1 Vibrant, and it didn't work. The *#*#4636#*#* does however show the mode and allow for the change there, but if I remember correctly, it resets to default after reboot.
I'm not surprised, as surely many things have changed since then. Does anyone know what we can enter on the NS?

Download anycut from the market and create a shortcut to an activity called "testing". This will open the same menu as *#*#4336#*#* only this one does not reset on reboot.
Took me some time to figure this one out.

can any one tell me how exactly to put google nexus s in diag mode because i need to flash it to boost mobile. thank you
Once you get into diag mode using *#*#4636#*#* just change it to wcdma only and instead of going back go to home directly. that's what i did. it sticks even after reboot.
Joeykrim and nemith have dialer codes working in cdma cyanogen nightly. The code is *#*#8778#*#*
Or *#*#3282#*#*
Uncle Jimmy says hello
U will do the *#*#8778#*#* to connect to qpst. From qpst you can get your MSL. Write that down.
Uncle Jimmy says hello
how to get MSL
Don't need QPST. If rooted, just launch terminal, type getprop and look for the line that says "[ril.MSL]: [xxxxxx]" -- that's your MSL. Could also do it with adb shell getprop from your computer.

I know my spc- Cricket has my esn- my min = mdn = msid... I have a Cricket prl, but at *228 I get a PSC failure message, a one minute freeze and soft reset.
I cannot find how to intentionally change one's spc/msl- is it possible?
Look around their is a solution already posted...
On top of that if you do not want to reset you're MSL to 000000 and you know it. Just manually program the phone. You do not need to OTA the phone if you have you're MSL, MIN (MSID) and MDN.

I've seen your cricket rom for the 6800 on Hofo- but, before I get into booting roms, I would like to just have a functional phone for the weekend Or maybe a week...
I've already used my psc to update the prl, and edit the mdn, etc... I've used the 1040, and 1041 prls, and still have the psc error at *228...

Update
using drivers from here I was able to get diag working. Found the com port the phone was in via pc's device manager (was 16), updated that com in qpst (clicking on the qpst globe and adding that port), opened qpst's service programming, then just entered my msl, clicked read from phone, loaded the phone's info, rewrote the msl to 000000 and clicked write to phone- unhooked, *228, viola' no psc error... no more
I get cricket with *228, but that's the only call that's going out on the phone...
I would rather just get the phone recognized by qpst and use service programming(?) to edit the msl- just not sure how to do that yet. I've read others having to use a 6700 driver to get their 6800 recognized- will I need to disable active sync as well?

Thanks- This is stressful
ok here's the quick: let sprint custs run (i know). relocked and reflashed original verizon ROM dump. manually replaced epst settings and DMU reset. everything works now cept EVDO because:
my HDR AN AUTH User ID: is [email protected]!!! (wow those custos really f you in the end)
when i go to edit it says "write "HDR AN AUTH User ID" error"
I know no EVDO because of failed auth is a common problem, but i think my problem is a bit unique in that i know it needs to be my#@vzw3g.com, but it just wont let me change it. any ideas???
are you not allowed to edit your own auth? can verizon (called 3 times, all morons)? what about qpst or qxdm or whatever?
thanks ahead of time,
-karl
**bump**
anyone?
You can use EPST to change your HRD ID etc.
You will need to know what your MSL code is though.
If you just use the view option of EPST it will not show you the security settings.
If you look at this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25226
It has all the info you need to find out your MSL code etc. I am sure that info is elsewhere on this site to. That is just the place I found it all.
Cheers
my msl is 000000 i can get into edit the settings in epst, it just gives me an error when i try to change my hdr an auth! its so weird!
when i access my settings in qpst i get a write error when i try to change it!
i dont get what gives! hellppp!!

ok robstak i had the same problem. If you have QPST 2.7 build215 you would be able to make that work. All you have to do is connect the phone by ##3424# or ##3424 send to put it in diagostic mode. Run QPST be sure its connected then open service programming. after clicking read it will then ask you to input your MSL code. It will only take you about less than 2 seconds to read you phone. once it does go to PPP Config tab then click on UM/AN buttons on the lft side. You will then see a red mesh on the USerId. Click on the red mesh and click ctrl D and it will enable you to change that parameter then write to phone. Viola now it works. Hope this will help you
I'm not responsible for what might happen on your phone if you choose to dial any of these!
These are the codes that work on the standard phone dialler app on the Orange San Francisco, but I'm pretty sure they'll be almost identical on other models that we collectively know as "ZTE Blade". Known small differences (in texts) are down to whether the firmware expects to be running on an OLED or TFT display, and whether you've deleted seemingly unused apps like ChiperTest.apk, fcctest.apk and QcNvTest.apk. Most are prefixed with "*983*", which is "*ZTE*" in phone letters -- I've added a mnemonic for the other part where I think it's obvious (feel free to suggest better ones!).
"Automatic Inspection" runs through the basic tests automatically (usually you need press a button to move on to the next bit -- don't get thrown by any blank colour test screens!). There are a number of interesting items for developers, with hardware info and other goodies. If any of the descriptions don't make the function obvious then it's either poorly written or I don't know exactly what it does (I'll happily update this if others can explain better).
If the code has been recognised by the dialler then it will react immediately when you enter the final "#". If nothing happens when you've done that, don't press Dial!
Edit: on the ROMs based on the Japanese 2.2 you need to put the phone into "Engineering Mode" first, by dialling *ZTE*OPENEM# (*983*673636#) -- this action will be confirmed by a quick pop-up. To close this mode, dial *ZTE*CLOSEEM# (*983*2567336#) -- this then prompts whether you want to do a Factory Reset, which you do not have to do (you can simply Back away from this screen).

Hello, what code shude I use to know if my SF is TFT or Amoled?
Regards!
Check the build number in Settings>About Phone. AMOLED ends in 05, LCD ends in 08. IIRC all white SF models are 08 and most grey are 05 (unless its a newer unit which will likely be 08).
Thank´s man.
Mine is 01. What that means?
Looking at the screen characteristics it seems like LCD.
Thanks man. great post
Really nice. Works on Boost Mobile Warp Sync N9515.
Would you happen to have a code that forces prompt for unlock? (Changing sim cards doesn't trigger anything)

I think unlocking the Boost Mobile is a lost cause. I've tried several other sims and the only codes I've found to show the unlock menu don't work:
1) Alright then please remove the SIM card and try this code ###825*09#,
2) Got the prompt for code? Please enter the code you received,
3) Failed above, try *983*8284# to access the Unlock Menu,
4) Failed above, finally try *983*865625# to access the Unlock Menu.

if you need any help; please pm me, or search this site for answers. I am sure you are not the first person, to want to do this or to have this question.
Before you continue; please note that i am not liable for any damages, that may occur to any the devices you attempt this on.
To undo any and all of the changes that you are about to make to your phone(**NOTE** the following will erase all data on your phone so backup everything you want to keep.), (1) first download an app called MSL utility and write down your MSL code on a computer, or any other device maybe even pen and paper.(2) go to your phone settings hit activate this device when it is done loading do not click done.(3) click on the menu button and go to PST settings. (4) go to the ##SCRTN# menu and follow what it prompts you to do, your phone will then reboot automatically. (5) do steps 2 and 3 over again and go to the ##RTN# menu and follow the prompts your phone should than reboot automatically and now you should see an invalid SIM sign. **NOTE** any time it asks you to enter a code it means enter you MSL code. Remember to undo these steps first. (No. 2)**NOTE** when your done with steps below download BuildProp Editor(you must have root), and click on the pencil icon; scroll to the bottom, and add these two lines: ril.sales_code=LOL ro.csc.sales_code=LOL)
No. 1) = No, you do not need to downgrade.

done.
This is a re-post(i would thank whom ever posted this, though i do not recall where i found it.); because i am to lazy, to write it from scratch.
1. Use ssu.apk to unlock it first
2. use cf auto root to it
3 .use adb:
su
am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://27663368378
UMTS -> DEBUG SCREEN -> PHONE CONTROL -> NETWORK CONTROL -> GCF
There the phone is domestic unlock without downgrading the modem.
1. be on stock NG2. ssu.apk force-closes on aosp/custom roms.
2. Run ssu.apk and do the unlock. This does not require root.
3. do the other commands through ADB(step 3 Above), just in case. You may or may not need them. I don't know why it worked for me without them. That step DOES require root.
4. Test your sim card and make sure your phone can read it, and if possible, make a call, try text/data, whatever.
You're Welcome!
I had NAE i downgrade to mdc then unlocked it and after that i download firmware which is NG2-xas i think and after upgrading its still unlock.
For that method and files you can search international sim unlock.
Its easy to do it.

Thanks so much for the quick response!
Couple of things, I actually called Sprint to ask them to unlock it for international SIMs, and they said they'd go ahead and do it. I flashed back to Stock and did the UICC Unlock thing in the menu like they told me. The phone rebooted. I think it's unlocked then, correct? If not, I'll go ahead and do this method tonight.
Also, does this phone support LTE (Is that the right term) on international GSM networks or just 3g?
Thanks!

it may be unlocked; you would not know for certain unless, you attempt to insert an international sim card.
Depending on which country you are traveling to. Some countries only have 2-G, then there is some that use 3-G, some also utilize HAPA+, and LTE. It also depends on the sim card they give to you. If the give an LTE sim card, it may work (for LTE or HSPA+). Though it depends on which band/frequency, its relying on. click here to see LTE frequency data sheet. click here to select the country you are traveling to, this way you'll know if you will be able to be on a favorable network.

I don't know if that's true. What i do know is that the last time i was in Israel, i used Golan Telecom, and i only had a 3G connection. i do know that they state they have a 4G-Lte network, but i guess i'll have to find out in a few months from now.
good luck.
Can someone help me I am trying to force my Huawei P10 Plus to use LTE/4G only mode. I have latest Firmware/Patch Level.
I have tryed many service codes in format like *#*#.....#*#* codes but I can not set the LTE Only mode.
Isn't it possible without "root"?
It is possible to force "4G only" without root. First download "Setting Database Editor" from playstore. Open it and look for "hw_networkmode_preferences". I use this value "9,3,2,1,11" on my phone. Save it and restart your phone. If you still don't get "4G only" option then you need to open the "Setting Database Editor" again and look for "hw_add_4g_only". Mine was set to "250". You need to change it according to your country mobile code. Look for your mobile country code here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code. In my case I change the value to "250;502" since 502 is my country code. Save it and restart your phone.
Tested on rebranded P10 Plus 256GB.

Thank you very much for your Help! I already installed the DB Settings Editor and found out that hw_networkmode_preferences were already "9,3,2,1,11" so this wasn't the case. Additionally I found that I have to add "hw_add_4g_only" so I added it with the wrong Country Code because I didn't know what the hw_add_4g_only means. I was searching for it a few days now and never got an answer, so I was trying to ask here. And you made it clear now. The Wikipedia Link was very helpful and it works now for my Country. I have to set it 262 for O2 Telefonic Germany.
So again Thank you very very much!
Using Huawei P10 (VTR-L29) 8.0.0.374 (185) solution above works for me too.

Worked on my Samsung Galaxy S9
Honor 6X is stubborn as heel... Nothing works.
Can't even find the commands... Sigh!
First Method :
1. Use SIM 1 as the default connection setting
2.
You need to install this app for FREE
at Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
galaxy store: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
3. Run the application, press the SIM 1 only or Android testing button. You will enter two LTE Switcher options and also 2 Android testing options.
4. You can try all of them which support your phone.
If the telecommunication operator you are using does not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and uses LTE Only Mode, so regular calls will be blocked.
Second Method :
1. DOWNLOAD Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application from Google Play
2. Run the Application
3. Select SIM 1 Only menu, then Hidden Activity
4. wait to load until 100%
5. tap the search box type RadioInfo
6. In the DEvice Info app section, there is a RadioInfo activity.
7. Long Tap 3 options will appear: Create Shortcut, Launch Activity, Edit Shortcut. I recommend Select Create Shortcut to make it easier for us to enter network activity mode without having to bother opening the Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application.
8. Please select Launch Activity to enter the Radio Info
9. Select LTE Only in set preferred network type
I was able to get it working on my huawei y7a sometime last year using settings database editor. Abouy 2 weeks ago i factory reset my device due to an unrelated issue and now when i try to enable it again i get an error saying my system software has rejected the edit. I tried with the version of setedit from f-droid and got the following "Unexpected failure you shouldn't not change private system settings." does anyone know what the problem could be?

I have the same issue with p30 pro. It seems to me that after some recent updates, they've locked those settings somehow.

I found a solution. You would have to use "Adb shell" (usb debugging).
The code is:
adb shell settings put system hw_networkmode_preference 11
