I've had this problem for awhile now, and i was just thinking it was some 'quirk' with the T-mobile ROM, but recently i've installed the new ROM, and i'm getting the exact same problem, so i really am confused now :/
(I haven't installed any apps, or hacked the device in anyway btw)
Basically, i'll be composing a standard TXT, and the brightness on the screen will go to maximum (as if it's been plugged into charge) then when i come to pressing 'send' it does nothing. Then i close the messaging app, then whatever i try to load, it comes up with a 'this program is unsigned' error, all the txt on the screen does white, and basically everything looks screwed.
If i go into task manager and close the messaging app, then the screen goes back to its normal brightness, but the application errors still continue.
The only way to get around this, is by rebooting the device, but then once it's reloaded, it seems to randomly loose my latest TXTs/e-mails!
Really starting to annoy me now!
Does anyone have ANY Idea what might be causing this, or experienced this before?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
*bump*
No one else had a similar problem?
OK and another thing ive noticed, when i go to the lock options, even if i type in an incorrect PIN, or even if i click 'ok' it just bypasses the lock screen! How s**t is that!
I've got no idea what's up with this phone, but i'm really pissed off with it now, i'm sending it to t-mobile for their engineers to look at, but im 99% sure that they'll run a few simple tests on it, and declare that it's totally fine, then send it back to me... GRRRRRRRR
hey same thing happening to me too.
mine too sometimes goes to full brightness while composing SMS. If u then switch off the phone(by power button), it comes up with a message box asking for driver. In the end, i hv to reboot the device.
And the poor part is that it doesnt happens all the times. This has started happening to since I have upgraded to latest imate ROM(I have O2 Exec). I had similar problem with the latest Qtekk ROM.
The only thing i d not installed was 'ms_.nbf' from both of the ROMs,which is actually represent the 'extended rom' of HTC devices.

Ahh, well i'm glad im not the only one!
I'm going to assume it's a hardware issue..... possibly..... because ive had the exact same problem on the past 2 t-mobile ROMs. So annoying :S
why dont u give a try to other ROMs like imate, qtekk. May be, you do away with this 'annoying' problem somehow

Well i've had problems with the past 2 T-mobile ROMs, so i'm thinking that it's not really an issue with the software.. but i really dont know. Have you fixed the problem, or are you still getting it?

I used to suffer from this problem at least 2-3times a day. And it was very frustrating too.
Till now, not a single problem with latest qtekk ROM, FABULOUS is the word for it !!
No problem at all till now. Popper, you should give it a try now

Hmmm I might give that a go. Which ROM contains all the network setting information? Was that the "ms_.nbf" file you mentioned?
Thanks
yes, its the ms_.nbf which contains the network settings. In other words, it the one, which represents the extended rom of your device

Well that crappy problem has happened again today, so in a minute im gonna install the latest QTEK ROM, fingers crossed
While syncing my phone via USB (using either USB settings) my phone slows to the point where most calls don't even have a chance to ring on the phone before going to VM.
The only thing i'm syncing now is Exchange (2003 SP2) Contacts/Calendar/E-mail
replog.exe seems to be the one eating all the CPU.
It seems to be the worst when saying "Looking for changes", but even when it says synchronized and appears idle, it can still run the PDA into the ground.
I've experienced this problem with Black Dymond and now a flavour of LVSW.
I'm missing at least 5 calls/day (that I know of) because of this! HELP!
I have seen this with all versions of WM6 that I have tried. At first I thought it was something to do with the fact the earlier WM6 ROMs were beta versions and therefore there was probably debug code in them, but not any more. I'd be interested in a solution for this as well.

aww.. CRAP!
Just to confirm, does WM5 have this problem? I'd like Exchange 07 and Office 2007 support, but not at this price.
Oo that's useful to know - I've been mooting a WM6 upgrade for my handset for a while now, but I'll definitely steer clear because I sync daily!

If you're syncing OTA, it works fine. But I have a couple things that don't sync OTA so I'd like to keep it docked while at the office.

Yes for Pocket Informant, no for PlanPlus.

This has to be fixable. I just had the problem go away for about 2 days. That's not to say it synced properly, but it didn't kill the phone!
I also have the same problem with sync. I am using ACT Link for Pocket PC though and thought it could be that. I removed it and tried but the same problem, is slows down and sometimes just locks up. The only way I make it work is to SR before I sync and just wait it out.
Using Shadow currently but it appears in all ROMs I have tried so far.
Problem solved in latest ROMs???
This weekend I upgraded my TyTN to Sleuth255's 5.2.1238_17913.0.3.0_v1.0 ROM and guess what? The problem has gone away! So either something The Amazing Sleuth did in his ROM fixed it, or the problem has been fixed by M$ in the latest ROMs.
John
Maybe not...
OK, I might have spoken too soon. The slowness did return a couple of times this afternoon, but it definitely still seems to be happening less with this new build.

Lol. My ActiveSync woes have gone away for the last 2 days. I disabled PlanPlus for activesync, but I'm still missing plenty of calls because my device takes 2 full rings to turn on and start ringing itself.
How do I restore my phone to original so I can start over? I am getting horrible battery life now with this new radio version and I have tried multiple roms. I made a nandroid backup when I first rooted my phone I just need a little bit of info on how to restore this version and will this version send my radio back to normal? I am not sure that is the problem but it started about the time I did the flash to the new version and I would really just like to kinda "start over" to get rid of any issues my flashing all these different roms may have caused. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

welcome to xda. there is a search thread button on the top right of the forum it will find all the keywords you type so that should help you. always search in the forum before starting a new thread so we can keep clutter down. anyways the radio isnt messed with by alot of things because it is very risky and it is also in a whole different partition so a nandroid will not restore it.

download the stock and flash it. goodluck. be very careful with radio.
I didn't try looking around on the forum for the way to flash it back. I have become very proficient in messing with my phone so I am not worried about bricking it, but thank you very much for your help.
This is really weird, I just noticed my radio version is 2.14.05.02.03, from what I have read it is supposed to be 2.14.04.02.03 and it does not wanna seem to flash back when using the signed version of the stock roms... I dont get it anyone help me?
that is weird. someone made a typo lol. anyways try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644004&highlight=radio&page=3 go to post # 28. DL and try to flash. i made a different update-script so maybe this other one will work for you.

It isnt working though since the flash a week or so ago I have been getting terrible battery life and I cant figure out what is wrong... I have wiped, tried about 4 different roms and nothing changes the battery still drains like crazy. I also tried a rom with like no programs running and made sure that I had nothing running that could possibly kill the battery.
I tried that one as well... Still says the same thing, this is really odd, I really think this is causing my battery issues. I flashed both that one and the one on the main page, do you think possibly that the problem is related to this. The only radio update I ever flashed besides this downgrade was the one that Flipz posted to go with his Android 2.1 rom... This is really weird I am really getting worried that I am gonna be stuck on this radio version forever now =(

in "Battery Info" it gives only basic info on status, current level, scale, temp, time since boot, and a few more unneeded values, nothing about individual pieces of software.

Do you have Spare Parts installed. You should be able to get info from there. Do you have GPS, Wireless, or Bluetooth on? I have the updated Radio and while I am sleeping I am only using 9% of my battery. With my stock ROM I was using 35% I have everything off except mobile networks and when I go to sleep I turn that off. I do not over-Widget my homescreens or have email checked every 5 minutes.
Maybe try Damage Control V1 or Fresh Rom 2.0. I know DCv1 is great as long as you follow soome of the steps on remving one of the applications.

Nothing conclusive in any of these threads, and I am beginning to worry...id really like my old radio back.
It's an issue with the new radio. Your phone is constantly looking for a GSM signal, preventing the radio from sleeping. Either need to flash the old radio, or upgrade to a 2.1 ROM and follow my guide.
Well, I am on Fresh 2.0c now and my battery life seems better. It was literally going down like 10% or so per hour before, it is back to normal now like normal for 2.1 roms. I reinstalled the radio a few times and I read in other threads that even though the versions wasnt changing in settings it was really changing. So I think it is fixed now but I still got my fingers crossed.
Even if your battery life is better now, you still need to follow the guide to change the Preferred Network to CDMA auto (PRL) otherwise your phone will still be wasting a good amount of battery searching for a GSM signal... I'm on Fresh 2.0c with the new radio and I'm only seeing like a 20% battery drop over 7 hours with normal usage.
So I haven't updated my rom and radio in a while and was wondering if there is any real point to do so. everything works fine on my phone including any android ports i've put on it. my winmo doesnt allow me to turn sense off as its an old version but that the only real difference that i have noticed. any advice on which rom/radio's are really good right now would be great.
I am using this ROM:
http://htcpedia.com/kwbr_HD2/soft/htc-leo-rom.html?page=1
If everything is working ok then tbh there is no point in changing, if you do just make sure you have all of the old ROMS;RADIOS & BUILDS to get back to happies again.

To be honest, if you're happy then I wouldn't change a thing. If there's anything specific that you'd like then that's obviously a different matter.
As for turning off Sense, there's no Windows ROM that you can't do that in. Go to settings, menu, all settings, today and turn of HTC Sense as a today plugin. (That may not be 100% correct - it's been a while )
thanks i have turned sense off, i think the way you explained it was better than i had heard which i couldnt figure out but now im good.
as far as rom/radio. i guess that answers that too.

I could quote you what I use, and I think it's great, but everyone uses different things so we'd all give different advice. Like I said, if you come up with something you need and you don't have it, it may be time for a change, but until then just stick with it.

Hello,
I have a Zuk Z1 and there are couple of issues which I have witnessed on regular basis
1: The menu button on the home screen often dissapears and does not appear until or unless we restart the phone. Can anyone please tell me what would be its solution?
2: The phone screen often turns on even when there is no notification. I searched everywhere in settings but wasn't able to find it, can you please tell its solution as well?
Your help would be much appreciated
Thank You in advance

Rooting seems like a dangerous task for a person like me who is not very well with technology. And also it seems like it would take time and would make me curious to try something new almost every single day. so i think it is better to stick with the same rom and if it can be resolved without rooting, that would just be the best

If you carefully read the instructions to flash a rom you're 90% save. And don't expect that the manufacturer resolve the bugs in time. So try it before you get unhappy with your device

Well I have lost hope with the manufacturer as I have emailed them several times and they haven't replied me once. Well rooting seems like a good idea. but is there any guarantee that I wont get tempted to try new things continuously even if I have a stable rom
