DINC full phone keypad - Droid Incredible General

If I am not mistaken, the Droid X has a full screen phone pad when dialing numbers and the DINC does not. Is this possible on the Incredible to have a full screen dial keypad?

If you had a full screen keypad then you wouldn't be able to see your contacts and call logs as you put a number in. I would hate that, cause I use that feature constantly.

well you would safely have to assume a single-line window would exist, now, wouldn't you...

Well, if it's a "full screen phone pad" then how could it? It takes up the whole screen Just working with what the man gave me.

Try MIUI if you want a completely different dialer experience.

I came to XDA to make a new post, but felt this would be a good post to piggy back off of.
What are some good dialer alternatives? I recently installed cyanogen mod and am loving it, with a few exceptions. The stock HTC dialer was so convenient because you just had to start dialing the contacts number, or name and you would get an instant contacts search. It seems like now you need to manually go to a new tab, then find the contact. I really liked how slick the old (stock) way was. Are there any similar implementations for CM6.1 rom?

I was in the same boat....
Dialer One is a great alternative that works like the stock HTC one.

I find the YouLu Address Book dialer has significantly less lag than DialerOne.

Still looking for an app that can give me a full screen dial pad like on the droid X. Ant suggestions?

Stock Nexus One Dialer Auto-complete?

I just got the nexus one and am loving it! However, I've noticed that in the phone dialer, there isn't any kind of auto-complete function. I'm used to typing the first couple of letters of someone's name then selecting from the list of matches that comes up to call them. I'm only getting the digits I dial, though. This seems like a step back into the cellphone stone ages. Is there any fix? I haven't rooted yet, but eventually will. I really like the dialer on the droid eris.

Stock Dialer on MT4G?!

I was wondering is there any way to change the Dialer to stock one.
to be exact:
I know there are ways to change Contacts and Lock Screen to froyo one. But even if you do so, when you get a phone call (someone is calling you) you will see the htc Dialer with the "Drag down to answer" instead of froyo style.
I really want this since if the phone is in your pocket and someone calls you, while taking the phone out you may decline or answer the call!!!
Any help and idea is appreciated
Thanks

You just need to drag up the bar instead of dragging it down to decline a call. BTW wrong section.
Hope this helps!
I highly doubt that you can do change it. Main reason is that it's too tightly integrated into system (I mean half of the crap is in the com.htc.resources.apk!). I can try messing with it a little bit but I seriously don't think that it would work. And even if it works... you will still see Sense-style answer/decline on the locksreen because... yep... framework is highly modified.
Give me few hours, I'll push some files.
Edit: Actually, never mind, I'm not even going to attempt it... it's not going to work.
Please post questions in Q&A section.

[Q] Stock Dialer and Contacts App - Possible to switch out?

Hey guys,
I'm a Vibrant (Galaxy S) owner myself. Yesterday, Mom came home with a Nexus! They're basically the same phone, so it was easy to navigate, etc. She had some major gripes though...
First of all the contacts and dialer app in Gingerbread seem to be quite a step back from what I've had in my Galaxy S since I got it months ago. You can't side-swipe the contacts list to either call them or message them, it doesn't have a list of letters on the side so you have to scroll through the WHOLE list in order to get to where you want, the dialer app looks pretty but it doesn't bring up names as you press the different numbers.
Is there any possible way to bring a Galaxy S style dialpad and contacts list to the Nexus? These features may seem like not a big deal, but when you're dealing with over a thousand contacts it becomes quite important.
Any suggestions would be very welcome! Thank you.
1) You're on the wrong forum. This in Nexus One forum, not Nexus S.
2) Download Dialer One from the Market.
Yeah, I too have had a good time with dailer one. Just download it and use as standard app.

Well that's embarrassing! Thanks for the tip though on DialerOne - it looks good.
Yep, dialer one and never look back.

I dont see why not, but it would most likely require porting some portions of the Touchwiz framework

Hardware wise they are almost the same, but software wise, they're lightyears away. Vibrant runs on Samsung's TouchWiz interface, the Nexus S runs on pure Google Android operating system.

You tap on the picture to the left of the name, a box will come up and you can quickly call/text/email/gtalk/map/whatever.
As for the list, just swipe up/down the contact list and you'll see a little navigation square pop up on the left, you can then use that to drag up and down to go to the letter you want real fast.

My guess is no, the dialer/contacts app relies on the TouchWiz backbone too much.
My suggestions are above, and also, teach her how to use HER phone and not your phone.
How about installing that dialer app from the market. Damn what's the name of it, I'm drawing a blank. But it doesn't need root and it can be your main dialer and its much better than stock.
Ah its called dialer one.

What dialer app are you using?

One of the most frustrating issues I have with my Streak is more put less daily force closes and hangs requiring restarts. Although I am using Steve's 1.19 and have been for a while, it seems that nearly all events occur around the time that the phone its being used as a phone.
I have tried Dialer One and Rocket dial but suspect that these are massively memory hungry apps and that they are contributing to the problems. The standard phone app is unusable as it doesn't have T9 search, but I suspect it is light on memory as it loads very quickly.
I can use the Streak all day without an issue but this instability when I use the phone app on one out of ten calls is getting me to the point where I am really wondering what other phones are out there.

Yes I have this problem, I found that using the streak 7 dialler (install option in install.txt file) is much better and easier to use it does have its flaws but I find it much better!!
i really like ray dialer in the market its free
Yes the dialer on the streaker is annoying but only because it doesn't remain in portrait, there is not a alphabet header on the contact list, and it doesn't pull up contact choices as you dial in the number. I tried quite a few dialers and I cant recall but I think ray dialer has t9 and number search. However it doesn't completley replace the phonde app.
FYI shortcut for the built in Froyo dialer - Hold the Menu key when in the Contacts to bring up the keyboard \ Search box. This is necessary because Dell (in their infinite wisdom) thought it best to remove the dedicated search key.
Just realized I didn't address the OP. Sorry. I suppose you have gone into manage apps and clear data on Dialer and Dialer Storage?

I had the same issues on DJ_Steve's 1.90 - and ended up going stock and rooted 354... MUCH more stability! However the system phone app still sucked out loud so I installed GO! Contacts which also has a dialer... very nice and works like a charm with full "match as you enter" dialing with favorites.... I find I no longer use the default phone app (thank God) and it's free with some fairly good themes (I use wallet.) I replaced my default phone icon app with the Go Dialer and I'm all set
Good Luck!

I think I would like to try this too as I nearly threw my phone out of the car after yet another crash.
Do you mind pointing me to the threads that will show me how to go back to stock and instal.354, I am on EU 315 by the way. Will it involve a total clean out or does it install over 1.19?

i use dialer one it is the least annoying of the bunch and works 100% of the time... would love a big ass green phone connect button though.
Ray dialer meets all of the criteria set forth above. T9, contact photos, big a$$ green button, big a$$ number keys, small memory footprint, FREE!!!! Well worth trying out.
i'm using go dialer and it works quite good
