Hi
Had this problem for about a month now where the percentage of battery my phone phone thinks it has is completely inaccurate. The problem persists in both the ram android I'm using and windows 6.5. Also it can take 30 minutes just to charge the higher percentages.
it seems to be out by about 15% most of the time, either running out of battery at roughly 15% or not charging past 85. It switches between these 2 inaccuracies occasionally when I reboot my phone.
Any ideas of what can be causing this? I'm very worried as it used to be 12% I was losing, then 13, now 15 in the space of a month.
Finally i've tried a hard rest and no luck, plus if there is a thread with the solution to this problem which I haven't found please redirect me.
Thanks in advance
Peter

Quite simply your battery is bad. HTC batteries all are "smart" batteries. It's not the phone that knows how charged it is, instead it is the board inside the battery itself. If this is faulty, or if your battery isn't able to hold a full charge, then this occurs. I would get me a new battery from eBay, they are like 5 bucks and see if it fixes your problem.
Thanks for the quick response. Just looked on ebay and found a '2430mah gold business battery' for £10, would that be a good replacement?
Thanks again.

Stay away from the large capacity batteries. Dealextreme has a htc battery exactly the same capacity as original and it works fine. Actually this message was typed on the HD2 with this battery
Just received the brand new battery, and although the problem seems to of have improved it's still there. There is now only 5% of the battery my phone refuses to accept it has....
Iwas planning on upgrading to a nand android build, is this likely to solve thend problem?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
I have the same problem from couple of weeks now.I am not too sure if the battery itself is the problem.I wish more people with the same problem have solution on this...
Well, to calibrate the battery try charging it whilst the HD2 is off checking the orange light turns green and leave it a few hrs afterwards too.
You may need to do this a few times otherwise your ROM is not updating itself to the new readings from the battery. Try reinstall factory default rom or hard reset.
Hmm, intresting, we having the same issues over on the WP7 forum, im assuming that its WP thats creating this issue but maybe not....
You wouldnt have the latest MAGLDR installed would you?
No magldr at alll atm. Will go to nand and see if the problem is solved..

charging to 100% in winmo cured any charging issues for me on RAM droid
Interisting...will try it next time I need to charge.thanks
I'm on Twilight DFC ( last version with htc hub )
Rom use : 2.14.50
HSPL : 2.08
card SD : micro SD sandisk 4Go class 4
Magldr : 1.3
Use : no really ( check my mails every 3 hours , 20 sms per day , little internet with 3g.
Désactivated : my 3g, wifi, localisation for a better battery level. My emails are checking just every hour by option.
Results : 100% at 8 A.m , 20% at 7 P.m ...
The battery are very drain...
with rom 2.15.50 it is the same
rom i have use : xmob 1.3 / 1.4 , moonlight ... and.. it is the same problem.
Please help me .
Same issue here. It's about 60mA battery drain, guess something wrong in power management.
You've most likely forgot to disable bluetooth completley. There is a 60mA BT bug in some roms.
bluetooth is off, but the battery running time is still bad. What Radio Rom is definitely the best ?
How to completely turn off bluetooth? It was turned off in settings
Yes, Settings/Bluetooth disable

2.12.50 with the battery tweak found in the development subforum gives me over a day with moderate to heavy usage (games, 3G internet, 3 e-mail [email protected] min, 30 min. voice calls). In standby (only mail sync on) I get 10-12% battery drop over the night.
Wait for a few recharge cycles and it will settle. At first I got 12-15 hrs. After 2 weeks it got MUCH better.
is your batter being charged propperly?
The battery tweak sets the full level for the battery.
you must first charge the battery to its maximum level then run the reg tweak
Now here is the problem, WP7 on our HD2 will not charge the full batter all of the time. Quite often you must charge until it goes green, then reboot and charge so more, keep repeating until the HTC battery tool reports the ACR level roughly the same as the FULL level.
to give you an idea
Ive just charged my phone over night, it says its full, it wont charge any more but the tool reports it only half full, even though the indicator shows full. But my battery life will drop like a rock and may report being empty when its not.
If i restart my phone just now the tool shows a jump in ACR value to about 800mAh it then allows me to charge the remaining 400mAh.
or you might find that restarting it shows the battery is full in both indicator and ACR value
The point is, after a full charge, restart the phone because until you do the phone doesnt appear to know whats goig on wth the battery, im guessing this is something to do with the fact that the HD7 and HD2 DO have some small differences inside.
I think what frustrates me more than anything else is the sheer unpredictability of my battery performance. I have done all the tweaks and installed the battery tool but overnight in the past week I have seen the battery go down as low as about 15-20% and remain as high as 80% with a range in between (estimated values, of course).
I'm now going to try to look at my data usage to see if anything is causing the radio to work extra hard some nights and not on others.
If it was at least consistent I could then start thinking about Radio versions, management strategies and the like but while it's so variable it a bit hard to get scientific with it...!
indeed it is a bit of a pain but remember we were never ment to have this ROM.
remember though it might be unpredictable because its not full, its not as easy as it sems to get a full charge, even when htc battery tool and MS tells us its full it might not be, persistant restart and charge usually gets it done
It is definitely battery problem exists! Don't try to hide it because all that stuff you are talking here to solve that is not working! Test in 2G network without any BT and WiFi during 24h failed, battery completely drained without reason.
no one is saying there isnt a problem, there are seveal problems
The big one is you shouldnt have WP7 on your HD2, our device was not supported, you cant say the HTC HD7 is the same because it is not, largely it is yes, but internally it has differences, one of these differences seem to be the controler for the battery
To be clear, WP7 cant report the correct battery level without tweaking it, and in some instances WP7 will not completely charge your phone but it may appear full there by leading to quick battery drainage
I second that. I think it's the matter of hit and miss. I have two hd2s, and one of them has ****e battery life. Both are using the same rom, same radio, same battery optimisation technique btw.
I bought an HD7 cause of the battery drainage of WP7 HD2, multi touching, downloading from market e.t.c!
I know HD2 is better than HD7 because you can have everything but... WP7 is my thing ya know??? So if you guys liked WP7 just go out there and buy your selves an official WP7 device! Believe me i l.o.v.e it and i will stick with it!
Battery life on HD7 is stunning! I have it running 3 days now and now i have 20% with moderate use..

Worse recommendation I ever saw. When first android port was released, there was huge battery drainage too but now I'm using android on my HD2 with 3 days batt life and I didn't buy new android device. So it can be fixed without wasting money.
In my opinion..Android is boring.. I know that battery life on Android HD2 is awesome but the OS is very Boring... When i flashed WP7 i said "this will be my daily OS" (i love simplicity..)... At that time i needed to charge my battery daily and i was a little bored of the hard keys and battery and stuff like that! (also i had some lost pixels on the screen) Didn't wanted to go back to Android though! So why do i have to keep my boring HD2??? Since i wanted to run WP7 as a daily OS i got my new HD7 (for 150Euro)
I am Just telling my opinion and i hope you agree with me...
I am a tech lover guy...Yesterday was iPhone, after that HD2,today HD7 and God knows what else for tomorrow!
where to get an hd7 for 150,- euro????? i'll going out and get two of them, too
for me wp7 is boring until now. almost no customization.. when you want to turn off data or wifi or bt you have to navigate through 2 or 3 menus.
and it is slow even though there are beautiful animations. (contacts open in about 2 seconds and in android it is about 0,5 seconds)
i am all for simplicity as long as you have all functions and speed.
btw battery is enough for 1 day with moderate use but forget using it from early morning and a long partynight
(camera issue still a bummer)
im all up for opinions on here....so ill give me own
Im sorry but i have not seen a more fluid and resposive device then the HD2 with WP7, iphone, android on various models even WP7 on other devices dont appear as quick as mine but thats the luck of the draw with using our HD2 some folk have had issues others think its amazing. contacts for me, around 200ish load instantly
luck of the draw
battery life is a concern still as is the camera other than that all is good

I'm not agree. You didn't notice that "super simple" WM7 consuming more energy than "boring" android? And what a point of this?
You know what, rich people always bored. I got my first iphone (3gs) just 3 month ago, and HD2 was like a gift from my friends in America.
Several people have stated that some off-brand extended batteries works with WP7. For those of you who have them could you please link me an ebay or amazon page so I can buy a few?
I've tried the HTC authentic extended battery and the 3800ma battery from ebay and both don't even allow the phone to boot into windows, but work fine in android.
a battery 'case' would also work?

i dont know about anyone else but my device will not detect a battery larger than stock. I have 2 a slightly larger 1350 and a 2600 and both report as only ~1230
a friend at work at the 2600 and it did not say it was larger using battery tool, but so far as lasted 2 days and is still in the 80% range.

The HTC 2300mah battery boots fine on wp7
I have the HTC extended battery (with kickstand) as a backup to the slimmer stock one. But when it is low, WP7 doesn't recognise it and wont charge it. That is, I put the battery in, start WP7, plug in charger- the top LED alternates red/ green and it doesn't charge. Luckily I have dual boot with magldr and android and can charge it that way and then it runs fine on WP7. I remember in win6.5 there was an upgrade to handle the extended battery, does anybody know if I am damaging the battery using android or WP7?
Seems from other threads there are similar probs: this from jaze33
"there is no official EB support in this rom. i have a HTC EB and it will not work. I also have non-official EB from ebay and it works great. we will just have to see if the dev's put this into the kernel or something to support it in the future."
Thanks all
Extended Battery charging issue !
Hi Guys,
Anybody with a solution for this extended battery charging problem on HD2 with WP7 ??
Seems to pick up charge in Magdlr mode, but don't know if the phone will detect the correct battery capacity after charging ?
don't see a solution in sight for this lingering problem.
Any help ?
hi,
I've got the original htc extended battery with 2400mAh and with Android it works very fine, all work...
So i want to try WP7, but i don't want to miss this extended Battery, so works it with the DFT UltraFruit Rom or is there a wayne that it will work or is it a kernel/something other problem?
Thanks a lot

Hi Verita5,
Which android ROM r u using ? Is it on an HD2 ? I would love to try out a ROM which recognises the 2300 extended battery and charges it normally to full capacity.
If it works, I would make my HD2 dual boot with Android & WP7. It would be at least better than my present method of charging my ext. Bat. only in Magldr mode, during which time my phone is useless. My WP7 ROM does not detect the original HTC ext. Bat.
Awaiting a reply.

Has anyone tried buying a non official battery for their MS2 and care to comment or recommend any? Im going on holiday to france and i know my phone wont last a whole day without charging, so I was thinking of buying a second battery.
I read in another forum that using a non-Motorola battery displays some kind of warning. I'd go with an original battery.

using a non-original battery could have detrimental effects on your phone. there was a discussion on this on the forum of another phone. using a non-original battery could lead to leaks and other problems which would eventually lead to the warranty of your phone being voided.
stick with original motorola products. yes the battery might be very underpowered, but its the safest bet to ensure the longevity of ur phone
With a non original battery, the battery indicator of your phone shows a interrogation symbol. Also, it does not charge with the phone charger.
Sorry my analphabet english xD
@Motorola Milestone 2
bp7x 2300mAh battery
I 'm using a non-original battery . The MOMAX and everything's good ,it feels just like the original one except for battery tempperature sensor. the temp is always 26 in celsius
I personally have used seidio for my milestone and it works like a charm, its the extended 2800mah one it really performs like it should and not like how a lot of people claim thats its way less than stock! It does not always read it correctly but a quick reboot fixes that, like 50% after reboot would usually be about 70-80%. They way i used to use my phone (light to moderate level) would last about 2-3 days but after the extended I got twice that and some more. Just make sure you get stuff from the original manufactures either way and don't go for deals at amazon or whatnot as those guys might be selling either defected or not proprely stored stuff. Batteries are critical components don't go cheap on them! And no, my phone has not been messed up or had any leaks or anything and I have this for about 3-4 months now. The original battery degraded in about 6months if you have to compare.
That sounds promising, does the battery need to be charged with an external charger? And does the milestone complain that you are not using the official bettery

reebooting your phone to get the exact picture also works on the standard battery. my question is, does the back part which houses the battery heat up when used? does the phone get hot during charging? do you need a new battery cover for it? and besides the longer usability, have you noticed any other performance issues on the phone?

Actually the rebooting to get the exact picture is not the same here, a jump to 20-30% on a stock battery? I don't think so. No I never encountered any odd behavior with the other battery. No getting extra hot during charge or use, get the typical little bit of heat while using 3G and browsing like mad but that would happen on the stock battery too. Battery cover for a 2800? of course, that stuff is huge! its protrudes like mad! a quick heads up though, the extended battery for the milestone 1 and 2 can use the same extended batteries. Don't know about the droid x though. Anyways, no performance issues, no heat while charging. The back covers supplied by these after market guys are not the best quality though so if you are someone who loves dropping phones and what not would recommed getting a spare back cover from the guys you get the batts from.

No, I use my original charger and no complains or warnings by the phone. Not on the milestone 1 at least. In fact some times i use my ipod's adapter so no big issue. And it charges at the same pace as the stock, additional 1 hour or whatever. restart the phone to getting a proper reading as it shows 100% but upon restart its 70-80% since only the stock level is charged. I hear this app called battery left does great for calibration.
ALSO a thing to note, I only know of Seidio and Mugen to be relialbe after market battery guys hence their hefty pricing at times. The others claiming to have bigger batteries have cheated people with stickers and what not and usually end up underperforming and degrading considerably faster than burning paper! I remember 1USD batteries for nokias back in the day good for a quick one time run i suppose but these 1USD guys are now selling them with a better branding for like 20-40 USD.
Anyways Sedio and Mugen have facebook profiles and keep people posted on the latest on devices usually there, although its kind of sad since seidio have not followed through promised products at times.

Cool but as I suggested try and get them off the manufactures themselves as I have noticed some people complaining when purchased via 3rd party retailers.
Also another bud of mine had picked up one for the Nexus one, that phones back cover is a full one unlike the moto's and he too can vouch for the products positive performance. Either ways also check out some reviews from amazon.com for peace of mind.

Wifi was on most of the time, I was using my phone for the usual things. Occasionally checking socialfeeds, engadget, xda every hour or so and internet browsing I played 10 minutes of angry bids. Updated some apps and downloaded a few new ones.
Overall not a significant increase in battery life maybe an hour or so more from what I am used to.

Ok so quick question.
I am looking at purchasing an extended battery for my HD2 which is running a MIUI custom android 2.3.4 rom (BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA DESIRE HD | GINGER Sense&HoneyComB | MIUI).
Since I have under 8 posts, I am unable to provide the link, but from ebay's homepage, I used the search: NEW BATTERY FOR HTC HD2 EXTENDED + DOOR T-MOBILE 3500MH
What I am curious about is that this post says it is a 3500MH battery, yet no where on the pics do I see this on the battery itself.
Is there an application out there that I can install that will verify this battery is indeed 3500MH once I install it? I have googled like crazy for this answer already & I have searched the forums already for similar threads, so lets keep the peanut gallery replies to a minimum. Respectful assistance is all that is needed.
Thanks for the help on this one.
Link > http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BATTERY-HTC...470409?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c1ccfe309
After looking at it, I think it may be encrypted in the part number cuz it goes '35H00' I think there is an app, but you may want to search 'battery' in the market, as I haven't used them; also if you get it, make sure you calibrate you battery.
lol if i knew you would have had the answer, I would have just pm'ed you! thanks for the info, I should have googled the battery model number. I had searched battery in the market, but all that came up were battery saver apps and what not. Juice defender seems pretty decent, but I never have kept a rom on the phone long enough to notice a difference in battery.
do extended battery show correct perecentage in windows mobile ?
I doubt it will show correct percentage, but I am running Android, which is not showing correct percentage. I have to reboot phone once battery is low andthen it shows the true remaining amount. Once it gets down to 15% it stays there for a while. I got the 3500mah battery from eBay for like ten bucks and its worth it, but the cheap plastic back cover that comes with it sucks.
I got this
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=270737783770
Inclues a case and is original HTC so works correctly. The build quality is very good.
The El cheapo ones that quote BS numbers don't give you any longer battery life from what I've read. And, they tend to loose capacity quickly. Reality is, unless you switch to a radically different technology, the storage density stays the same. So, if you have two batteries the same size, and one offers 2300 and another 3500... guess which one is using a bit of controller ic trickery to feed you BS. The fact that they don't work properly is a good giveaway.
Seriously, if you had the tech to double the density, would you be selling it on eBay for ten bucks?
Thanks you for all information.
