Can we do this yet, or is it limited to Android 2.2 when we get it... I ask because the Aria does have rather limited internal memory, outside the use for a SDcard.

No we can't because we don't have a kernel to support it yet. As soon as we do, I'll add it to the liberated rom. That is, if we don't find our way to FroYo rom in the meantime.
well lets hope that Att and HTC get 2.2 out fast. Or if you or someone else can port the cyanogen mod from the MT3GS to the Aria
apps installer
there's an app called 'apps installer'..but i've had issue with it crashing..not sure why..

Has anyone tried adding the old method of Apps2SD to the rom? You don't need a kernel for that.
Here's a guide I built to add the old Apps2SD to a rom...doesn't matter which Apps2SD.

I haven't tried that method yet, and not sure if anyone else has, but I will give it a try sometime today. Thanks for that.

I would like to get FroYo soon. Idc if it has sense or not.
yeah i would rather install it to SD too
Being that Android is based on linux, I don't wee why programs can't be moved to the sd card and have a symbolic link where the app normally would install. It would work in desktop linux, so why not Android?
Well you can but Google only added that feature in 2.2, I'm not sure about the idea behind it.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Google added that feature in 2.2, but there has been workarounds using the Linux method (symlinks) since Android 1.0 via CyanogenMod.
I know my Darktremor Apps2SD uses this method of redirecting Android via symlinks to an EXT partition on the SD card. Even the dalvik cache can be redirected if desired.
I know that CyanogenMod has an Apps2SD or a way to launch it via /system/bin/sysinit (at least it does in the CDMA Hero). If anyone is interested in trying it, here's the link to 2.7.5 final:
http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5-final-adv-signed.zip
If anyone tries it, let me know the results. Thanks.

I love the new Nand builds of Android,I have finally settled on MDJ_FroYo_Revolution_v._2.0_NAND version which I am very happy with at the moment. My only problem I have, like many others,is storage space for apps.I think there is only about 48/50mb fre after a clean install.I think I was spoilt after coming from SD install where we had massive storage,I realise I dont need GB's of storage but i do need more as I have installed a few apps and I am down to about 4mb left.I am using app2sd as well.
Is there anyway I can create storage space on my European version?
Thanks
You should install apps2sd and install your apps to your sd card
you get it wrong tigermaster... WITH app2sd and moving apps to sd we got this prob
app2sd is still leaving data in your ram when you move something. and this little data is enough for being a prob when you dont have enough memory
I had the exact same problem. The only real soultion is to install a build that doesn't have Sense, like a Nexus build.

ahhh is that the issue? I was going to say MDJ Gingerbread on mine and I currently have 807mb internal storage w/a healthy app list but no HTC Sense.
Gingerbread
i install nand ginger i have 745 mb left after install and few apps
You guys won't have the problem with TMOUS versions, so it doesn't apply.

I think a NAND kitchen (is there such a thing?) would help a lot, and of course, barebone android would also help. Can anyone verify if this is possible? And what's the smallest android ROM out there?? I think it would help a lot of chefs could list how much free space is left.
+1 I am also looking for a bare bones Android ROM I can work from, hopefully a few fully working gingerNANDs will be around soon.
I love my galaxy s but have one annoying problem with it...
When I click on the home button, it takes about a second for the screen to turn on. This is extremely annoying as you can imagine. I expect the screen to turn on from standby immediately... When it is on charge it will turn on immediately.
This problem is very noticeable... is anyone else experiencing this?
Are you running stock rom? The Samsung 2.1 and 2.2 are notoriously laggy. Get lagfix or flash a custom rom and your system will zip along
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i'm on a custom rom and i've got the same problem...
I found darkys really sped my phone up that runs voodoo lagfix. Currently running CyanogenMod 7 which is still beta but I've been running it for a week with few probs (just dont install the 0312 version it unmounts your SD cards) the 0311 nightly with the bilboa kernel of the same date is good, flashed the 0317 CM7 today and that runs well.
Cm7 is super smooth and fast, try it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i'm now on miui, the fact is that this is still beta, but with CM7 it should be working really smooth and fast... maybe it's because of some wrong kernel or something, i don't know, i've got his problem since i moved on to 2.3, even when returned to 2.2.1, the lag was still there :/
Really? I've never had that problem. When things go wrong for me I usually flash stock froyo with Odin then reflash custom and all is well. You using mambos MIUI? That's not even alpha is it?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
beta 4 right now when i moved back to stock froyo it was even more laggy than bofore, i flashed miui on this froyo and the problem is still there, of course it's not as laggy as on stock JPY but i hate the fact that it is there, no matter how small it was
Seriously mate I don't think that MIUI ROM is even close. They don't have any of the source so its a bodge. Try flashing stock then flashing back to Cm7 and I'm sure you'll be fixed
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks for the replies guys.
I used to run Darky's all the way up to 9.3. I was happy but saw someone else's galaxy s which seemed to switch on immediately and I wanted that. So in attempt to fix it I went to the Ultimate rom... At the start it seemed to have done the trick, but now back to normal. Laggy standby turn on
yea, i know you're right, but when i first flashed miui i fell in love with that rom, for me it's perfect even with so many bugs i hope they'll deal with them soon and then i will have the most perfect of all perfect roms ever
hm that's weird for me, when i had ultimate everything was ok, but maybe if i would have it little bit longer it would be the same situation as you had
I've not tried ultimate. Darkys is solid but Cm7 feels right somehow, real gingerbread smooth and fast. I loved the MIUI music player on Darky s and would like it back on CM 7 but at present its stable enough for me. Preferred the stock Samsung camera app though. Wish we could get that in cm7
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
can't you take the camera.apk from stock and put it into the cm7? i'm not sure if it can be done but i think i might work
No I don't think cm7 will run any Samsung apps as its based on aosp and all the Samsung apps are tied to ****wiz. The devs could tell you more but I think that's why

What are you ****tin on about? MIUI is stable enough to use as an everyday rom. Most bugs are share across CM7 and MIUI as MIUI uses CM7 base. It's a closed source meaning they don't openly share the code with the public and non-MIUI developers.
So anyone know why this lag is happening? A certain app maybe? I've had it with Darkys and Ultimate...
Really? I might give it a try - but do the MIUI apps work? Last I checked they didn't. No point having MIUI without their lovely apps, is there?

Have you tried entering 3-button recovery mode to format the SD card, clear cache etc etc. Installed a particular program right after you flash? Have you changed the animation speed from slow to fast?

Most of their apps (at least in the rom) work.
You can just install on top of CM7 and then uninstall if unhappy. Just make a backup first
Will clear cache delete any of my files?

Well I will give the MIUI a go over the weekend (not risking it now need phone for work tomorrow) and see for myself. I've tried several ROM s and keep flashing back to CM 7. Just wish that we could get a new bilboa voodoo kernel for this 0317 build because it seems the best yet. I was taking photos today for work on the 0311 build and the camera was glitching like hell, downloaded the latest build and the camera was fine, there's progress right there

I don't know if this method will work for you or make your device unbootable (Use at your own risk)
First, Turn off your phone and then mount your sd card from your phone to a card reader connected to your PC.
Then go the Android folder in your sd card memory and back it up to your computer (to revert back to it if things went wrong)
Finally, replace the files called (zImage, initrd.gz) In the Android folder in your sdcard with same files names and types from any other Gingerbread SD build (my suggestion is that you try first with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP gingerbread build by downloading the whole build and get those files from it and use it on your build that you want to use on your phone).
Place the sdcard back to your phone and turn it on, and hopefully this method will fix your problem...
This method might work in theory but because the build and the kernel are not optimized for each other, Some functions will not work as they were used to be (Bluetooth, Wifi, Network signal, etc...) or Android go into boot loop or even not boot at all! so if you don't know how to do this or don't know how to revert back to your original build/kernel after a failed boot, then please don't risk it!.
Hey yugoport, can you now try the kernel from isaiah build in nexus hd2 and post the results?

_SD.Magldr__isaiah12345_v3.1_160 build is nice, everything is HD/zoomed out, would look nice on a tablet, hd2's screen just about makes it usuable, any smaller screen on the hd2 i would stick to _240 builds, i like fitting more things on one screen, i dislike the scrolling about crap all the time, if anyone loves scrolling and tabs all the time then get a iphone, WP7, blackberry or symbian that everything done is a screen/page change whilst blocking out the status/notifications bar, i prefer old versions of WM aka WM2003se all the way up to 6.5

tried a clean install ? wipe cache/data/dalvik cache from cwm. Never restore data, only apps when you install a new rom.
ive done that. problem still exists...please help
Do a real clean, install.
Task 29
Flash magldr
Flash cwm with right partition
Flash rom and wipe everything before.
Make sure if the rom uses a sd ext partition. If so make sure it's big enough 1gb should be the best.

what if it doesnt require an ex partition can i still use one? and how many ext part should i have? data, cache, system..etc?

No you can use only. The normal a2sd.
You would just need one in your sd card.

i hear you man but i want a fast 3d rom and this is the fastest ive seen. thats why i didnt go with 1.7. could anything else be the problem
You can try to overclock your ROM but it won´t make your phone/freezes better ...sry
wtf do i have a penguin telling me he knows my ip address n service provider?..btw whats causing my sense to crash. after i download an app or return to home screen it loads for a minute
Your rom has less free ram and kills the launcher.

i hate to keep bugging you but how do i fix this?
You could Flash another cwm Partition.
Or you install a Task Killer app and let it kill all apps except the important ones to you every 15mins etc
