Hi everyone been trying to copy Music and Videos onto my micro SD card, I have a 32gb card I copied Android to it ran Android for the first time and everything is fine. Now I went back and made a Folder for Music & Videos, copied all my music and videos over and they show as being on card but when i unplug phone the folders show as having nothing in them??
I have tried doing it by connecting the phone with USB cable and taking the card out and using my USB card reader but still no music in the folder??
Can anyone please help.
Thanks
Davie
After transfering files to your sd while in Android, REBOOT and they will be there. Atleast thats what worked for me.
I have this same problem, I solve it by booting the phone into WinMo, then transferring my files.
I use Droid Explorer. Search in Google (I can't post links yet)..
Free of charge, easy to use. Just make sure you don't turn USB debugging off.
Hope that helps
I have two 16gb micro SD's and I've found a similar situation in both cards.
When I'm in usb data mode (either in Android or WM) files will NOT copy onto the SD card. It will show the file icon but there is no data there.
eg. I copy a song onto the memory card, I see the song name + icon on the card. Disconnect USB mode, and go to play the song... it's not there. The phone can't read it.
At the moment I've resorted to sticking my memory card into my N95 and copying data that way... so sad lol.
Any Suggestions/Ideas?
It could be that the data is not actually being written before you dismount. Make sure to properly stop the USB device. Its happend to me before. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

I had some similar problems, I ended up using micro sd in laptop to copy some files over. Or, I rebooted phone after sync and they were there.
I have a MyTouch 4G rooted, with Ice Glacier 1.1.6 and I was trying to remove some files from my SD card and when i eject my phone, all the files i deleted appeared back onto the sd card. I tried everything to fix this problem. When i tried to format the card using a card reader, i get an error saying format wasnt able to be complete. i tried error checking as well. i am not able to add files to the sd card too. does anybody know what is going on??
thanks!
Try formatting it thru the phone.
Settings -> Storage -> Format SD Cards
just tried that, did not work. after i click format, the sd card would get mounted again and everything is still on the sd card..
this is what i have noticed, i can delete files using astro and it will stay off until i unmount it and mount it again. thats when the files appear back on the sd card.
Hmm... can you open the files on your PC?
yeah i can open files on my PC. this is weird. when i take pics, itll save onto the sd card but will be gone when i unmount or connect my phone to the computer so i can see the files on the sd card
I've heard of this once before. Solution was to put the sd card into an adapter and format with a camera.
format with a camera? meaning to plug this sd card in a digital camera and plug the camera into the pc then format?
No, format through the cameras menu options.
whenever i tried to turn on my camera with this messed up sd card in there, the camera doesnt even want to boot up....any other suggestions??
Sorry, thats all I got.
Sounds like a bad disk. Run a CHKDSK /f from your pc.

chkdsk didnt work. at the end of the process, it says "disk error occurred during the writing of the file allocation" ??
It appears you need to go shopping. However, the SD card should be replaceable under warranty, unless our warranties specifically exclude the card. Call your local T-Mobile dealer and see if they'll replace it.
Yeah I think its time for a larger memory card anyway. So all I have to do is copy everything from my old memory card onto the new one that I will get then stick it in my phone right?

I have bought a 16GB SD card for my Xperia X8, as is the maximum which it supports, by what SE says.
Since yesterday I am experiencing some crazyness transfering my MP3 files to it.
First I transfered about 6GB of MP3 files to it. Windows shows the file on the SD Card, when I unplug the USB, it recognizes only 2GB of files there, File Explorer and Music Player only shows these 2gb of files (from letter A to H, for example).
Plugged into a Macbook of a friend, it really shows until this H folder. OK, maybe some transfer failure. Second time, transfered from another PC, same issue.
At the third time, I transferred the files from a Linux machine. After almost an hour copying, I unplugged the phone, and the folder was TOTALLY EMPTY. 0 files, nothing transfered. Just created the folder without nothing on it. Music Player shows 0 files, File Explorer shows 0 files... Then I plugged into the PC again... and the folder was empty!
I am using MiniCM. Is there any issue related to this ROM about SD Cards? I don`t have any other device to test.

When you finish transferring files, make sure you eject the memory card on your PC before you disconect your USB from phone, this can cause problems on custom roms if you don't eject drive on computer first. Happened to me a few times.

I am always ejecting.
Tried to transfer now from the Macbook. Same stuff, transfered everything, when the phone mounts the SD card, it "deletes" the rest, keeping only the first 1.79gb, alphabetically.
Try that put your sd into cardreader, and copy files, than put back into the mobile. If it works, the card is ok. If it isn't, format the sd card.
Best regards

Strange indeed, I'm using 16gb sandisk SD and only get problems like this if I don't eject device before I remove USB cable.. Have you tried putting the files on using a card reader and then putting it back into your phone?

Well, I don't have a microSD card reader. I'm transferring to my brother's Samsung I6220 (surprisingly, much more faster on file transfer than Xperia, even having a lower hardware and the weird system). Will update this post when done, after putting the card back on my X8.
Updating: Used the same card on a Samsung I6220. Transferred the same music files, 5GB total. All files recognized on Samsung phone.
When put the card again on X8, almost everything was deleted, only 1GB of files there.

Then it should be the ROM. Have you tried a Factory Reset?
After copying everything again to the Samsung, the same issue. Seems like the problem is the card. Everything beyond 2GB is deleted.
Thanks for your help, guys. Thread closed.
...well, 1 time I connect my phone to my pc,
then for some reason I dissconnect it and download a file on sd card... I connect it again 3-4 times but I couldnt see the file (hidden files were displayed). Back in my phone the file was there.
Sd card 2GB, ext3 partition for link2sd
I dont know that is going on...
Thats strange, that happend 2 me twice, some files doesnt exist on the mobile anymore (of course I ejected)
I've run into a problem and I share what I've discovered:
- this happens when you use Ubuntu Linux.
If you add music to SD card through a computer running Ubuntu Linux never, and I repeat, never eject SD card before doing it, because Ubuntu writes some information on disk that cause a weird thing. As soon as you put back in the cellphone it works but if you reboot your phone then SD card disappears. But if you put back in the Linux box it works, so I had my doubts.... popped in my surface and tah dah!! The file system is corrupt do you want to correct?

Then say yes and after the work if you put back in the phone it works again

Not surprised that it doesn't work with Linux. Best way to keep this working is to format (settings...phone storage...SD card - answer yes to prompt to store music, videos, photos) the SD card in the phone (if you have music, video...etc. files, back them up to a Windows PC first). Then click on Remove SD card. Load the SD card into your Surfae by whatever means necessary and copy the three folders back to the SD card). Eject the card from your PC, put it back into your phone and reboot it. All should now be well.
Note...if you are putting music on it, I have found that the MP3 tags tend to get corrupted. To prevent this, turn off (in Settings...Applications...Music+Video) Connect with Xbox Music. It is OK to keep Xbox Music cloud collection turned on.
