Do it again and follow the instructions .
- Make sure your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging
- Reboot your device into download mode: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously. You will know when you are in download mode, it is really obvious
- Start ODIN
- Connect the device to your computer using USB
- Wait a few seconds, the ODIN screen should show you that a device is now connected
- Make sure that in ODIN NOTHING is checked, except the "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes. Press the "PDA" button, and select the "XWKDD_insecure.tar" file.
- Press "Start". ODIN you should now be flashing the kernel, and the device should reboot.
- Wait until the device is rebooted, and while still being connected over USB, start SuperOneClick, and press ROOT.
- Reboot the device
- Done !

Thanks for the quick reply,
thats the same file i flashed. I re-downloaded the file from the link you posted and flashed again in Odin. Same result I can confirm the phone is in usb de-bug, the phone was turned off and started in the download mode (black screen) I got pass ok in Odin. The phone restarted afterwards but i get the same. When the program gets to this stage it locks up and has to be ended by task manager. Im running windows 7 x64 pc with i7850 processor ddr3 ram..
on the tut the file is called XWKDD_insecure.tar inside the rar file on the post its called zimage with no extension, i had to manually add the .tar to get odin to view it.
([email protected]) Running psneuter...
Any suggestions?

Why did you extract a tar file to make a tar file the instructions are to Flash XWKDD insecure .tar . as PDA through Odin
Long guide (for beginners)
- Download the attached ODIN file and extract the .zip file
- Download the attached XWKDD, but do NOT extract the .tar file

Hey guys , I rooted my SGS2 with XWKDD_insecure.tar and superoneclick.
Everthing worked fine.
But after a while I found out, that I couldn´t make any videos with the device´s camera. All new recorded vids couldn´t be played. Message "unrecognised file type".
So, I decided to get some other ROM. I wanded to flash the litening 2.0 Rom and flashed it with odin.
But no flash changed my device. Yesterday I had thousands of konversations with experts from a german android forum. noone could held me.
Every odin flash seemed to finish correctly with PASS. But after reboot, my device always has the same state, the same kernel version, all installed apps after my rooting were gone, messages, images... all were gone, except these I had on my device before the rooting I did.
If I install e.g. CWM Manager and select the action "boot into recovery mode", I only can see the Options "reboot now", "install update from sd", "wipe data" and "wipe partition".
All data saved by my device, doesn´t stay on it, after i rebooted it.
It looks like after every boot, my device loads a special recovery point, like system recovery on e.g. Win XP.
Anybody an idea?
Nobody here who can help me with this problem? ...
Hello Humphrey,
when you boot into recovery, you can see ' update.zip' , usually that is cwm. Rom manager installs update-zip before you can use rom manager. Install update.zip via rom manager just incase that update-zip is not cwm, unless you know it is. When you install update-zip, via recovery and it comes back as unable to verify zip, then you are not rooted.
The cwm will allow you to format the caches and system, delvik and battery and then allow you to install a complete rom with a rooted kernel. To be quite honest, Oden could brick your phone because you are using 2 hardwares, computer and phone. I have found it easier to download a zipped rom to your sd card and use cwm to flash it. Remember to format everything I said but not usb or sd. I have found Designgears Cognition 1.13 rom, not 1.15, to be ideal. I also use Zeam desktop, which I find ideal. Cognition is already rooted. Rom manager has glitches, so I don't use it to reboot into recovery or anything else but to look at roms, which I don't download via rommanger. Also, I'm fed-up with downloading stock roms and then having to find a rooted rom and using Odin.
I hope you find this useful.

Before doing anything, make a backup to your external MicroSD card before continuing. Even if this method is very safe, and has been done several times without problems, we can't predict anything that may happen during the process.
RESTORE YOUR TABLET TO STOCK, APPLY ROOT, THEN FLASH A NEW RECOVERY.
This tutorial applies to both P3110 and P3113. They are the exact same models.
REQUIRED:
Odin ( Take any version you wish. The latest ones should do the trick )
The stock Firmware file. Concerning this part, Google is your friend.
The official Samsung USB Cable that came with your tablet. It is recommended (but optional) to connect your tablet into your computer's built-in USB ports.
The latest Odin-flashable recovery. ( P3113 uses P3110 files )
CF-Auto-Root
Patience
Returning your device to a like-new state.:
1. Boot into Recovery Mode. This can be achieved by holding Volume Up + Power when your device is powered off.
2. Wipe all data. [ Factory Reset ( /data /cache ), System ( /system ) and Internal Data ( /media/storage )
3. Reboot into Download Mode. Usually found on the Advanced Options of most CWM-based recoveries.
It happens that your Tablet cannot boot into Download Mode due to various reasons. There is a battery trick that can be achieved. Do it when you absolutely cannot boot into Download Mode.
1. Remove your tablet's battery.
2. Connect your tablet to your computer
3. Your device should automatically boot into Download Mode.
4. Put back your Battery back into your device.

Hi, I have PA installed with TWRP installed. I downloaded my firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/. Do I need to flash the stock kernel as well? and stock recovery? Sorry for the noob question.
Maybe I'm just missing it, but I've gone to a couple of firmware sites and I can't find US firmware. Is there anywhere I can get that?
Does anyone have a link that's not to one of these stupid-ass, lame, @#$%ing pay download sites?

I have a similar situation. A previous rooting operation on my Tab2 7 P3113TS was either bad or partial and it appears it will not go into the download mode. power-pgup, power-pgdn, or just power all go to the Samsung splash screen then to a blue VeinDroid rom screen but no further. I tried 3 different version of ODIN and all recognize the device (port goes yellow) but cannot communicate. It stops at the SetupConnection step. Is this thing toast or is there something I'm missing?

If a message is shown, press Volume Up. If you can't enter downloadmode normally, try doing "adb reboot download" in ADB. If you still can't, connect your phone to your computer, REMOVE THE BATTERY, hold Volume Up/Down + Power until DownloadMode is entered and put the battery in again. If your phone doesn't boot or/and battery trick doesn't work, use an USB Jig. If theres no usb jig, while until the battery icon is shown ( charging ) then do "adb reboot download" in ADB.

do you have a backup?
Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy Note 4 (N910H) and have rooted it before without any problem.
Long story short I wanted to install a custom rom and on the instruction says I need to reset my device to factory before I actually install it (because mine is 4.4.4).
I successfully reset it back to factory settings, however when I tried to install the rom an error occured.
When my device restarted it goes into a boot loop.
So I go into the recovery mode and delete the caches and what not (even selecting the reset to factory setting again).
When my device restart it is stuck at the boot sreen (samsung galaxy blablabla) and it DOESNT LOOP, it just stuck there and I am unable to go into recovery mode.
I tried to reflash it using odin (i can access the downloading mode) up to no avail.
My device is detected by odin (com:x) but when I pressed start it stuck at setup connection and after a while I got the Fail message.
Now I am at a loss and have no idea what else to do. Tried kies, doesnt work either.
Kies doesnt even recognize the connection to my phone.
Any help would be appreciated.
NB: I'm a newb at this so please bear with me (and yes I kind of ****ed up)
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken you have Kies installed? If that is the case I would recommend you uninstall it. Then manually download the Samsung USB drivers
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
Reboot your PC just to be sure.
Then make sure your device isn't connected to the charger or computer and remove the battery and after 10 seconds reinsert the battery and manually boot into Download Mode (Home + Volume Down while holding the power button.)
Then connect your phone to the your PC and run Odin as Admin and try to flash the firmware.
I would also recommend that the firmware you are flashing is the correct one and is not corrupted.
You can check the firmware from Sammobile and after the download check the MD5Sum and then extract the zip file to get the firmware file.
Good luck and report back.

I'm having this problem past few days, tried all the links in the Q/A section, dev.. all links were dead.. and managed to found solutions for this problem.
Basically, the tab will stuck on "Samsung" logo and looping for eternity... tried to reflash the rom, wipe system and everything via odin.. will results the same thing...and I thought I'm gonna say good bye forever for my note 10.1 (n8000)...or send for repair (which samsung quoted me ~ $158 for the "board replacement"... but until I found how to get it alive... actually I've no idea what causing my n8000 stuck in the first place..
After a whole day "intensive" searching and everything.. almost all files links in xda were dead.. and finally I found out all the files and solutions..
What you'll need
> Odin 3.xx, can get from samfirmware website
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/30977/N8000XXUDNE5_N8000OLBDNE3_XME/
> Samsung drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
> note 10.pit and efs (extract the efs.rar after download, yes it's i9300 but can be used)
> n8000 rom, can get from http://www.sammobile.com/ or development section. I prefer flashable rom in recovery such as android revolution HD, and place it in microsd.
> Philztouch CWM
(files as attached)
Steps to do the recovery
1. Download odin and extract
2. Download drivers and install.
3. Run Odin, place the following files
- click the PIT button, select the note10.pit.
- click the CSC, and select the previously extracted efs.rar..it should be efs.tar now
- click on AP, for custom recovery, such as philz.. or official rom..up to you.
4. Tick the following menus in Odin
- Re-Partition (optional, some users said no need to tick this would do as well)
- Phone bootloader update
- Phone EFS clear
5. Place your n8000 in download mode, and connect via USB.
6. Click on START button.. and hopefully success.
7. Once finishes, reboot into recovery mode (those who flash rom via Odin can skip this), and install the rom zip file.
Everything should be fine now and your n8000 should able to start properly... that's how I managed to "resurrect" my n8000 tho... hope these helps... mine was n8000 16GB, 3G/Wifi version

Hi there!
I'm new to this and need help understanding what to install under Step 2, which is downloading and installing of Samsung drivers.
I have already unzipped the Samsung driver file but I don't seem to see any installation files. Do I have to plug in my Note to get to this? Or are they installed onto the computer first?
Many thanks, as this could potentially save my Note and save me $500... :fingers-crossed:
boootloop problem
tried all this ,but still my n8000 did not flash through odin properly but failed with error
'Repartition operation failed'
After running odin it says "reset" then the tablet returns to the "Galaxy note 10.1" logo and cycles going black then showing the logo.
When I hold down the power button it shuts off and turns back on again. So no luck for booting into recovery.
Im 99% i'm doing all the steps right.

ipoddude95, I have same problem. I tried different computers, different cable, different versions of odin to flash different versions of stock roms. but no success so far...
Similar problem
Hi,
I've got similar problem and I check couple of methods to solve this, unfortunately none was successful.
I tried method described in this thread, but was not successful.
I have old version of TWRP recovery (2.5.0.0). I can load recover but whatever I try to do - clear cache, format data, install recovery using dd it finish with error.
I tried installing new recovery twrp and philz using odin, using heimdall, everything seems to be ok, but when I try to load recovery I've got couple of restarts and then old TWRP loads. I've tried stock firmware, custom, with repartition and without.
I'm guessing that in my case it could be some kind of physical problem with memory.
What I can check more or what to try? How can I determine whether problem may be physical with rom memory?

Only note, I've used i9300_repair_efs.tar for AP like farhaanwireless suggested and device is restoring as I type this
Thanks a ton once more

Can you tell us exact steps you did? Because I am trying without success :\
Also another thing: the i9300_repair_efs.tar it's a rar and when extracted I get a directory with a .md5 file... Is that file that are you using?
Yes, that md5 was used.....
I've went completely by procedure described in first post, with exception of i9300_repair_efs change as mentioned. For that part, I've used latest Odin downloaded from Samsung web, and for bootloader, I've used Odin 3.05, just to be sure, since there is a button with "Bootloader" written on it
Hi
I have just attempted to flash my S5 G900F to Android 7 from 6.0.1, having followed a reasonably well detailed set of instructions.
because my phone won't respond to the 3 button recovery/download mode, I had to use ADB to access download mode and then connect to Odin to install TWRP.
Successfully using TWRP to wipe the directories and select the zip files of the new rom and apps.
when I selected Install, I got a screen full of red text all ending in failed and the phone froze. Being unresponsive to any buttons or gestures I had to remove the battery to turn it off.
Now for the Main problem, It won't boot, I get a message in yellow at the top of the flash screen "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" and it does nothing.
I tried to reboot with ADB but it shows "error : device ' (null)' not found".
I tried to do an emergency recovery with Smart-switch but it won't connect to the phone.
I tried to re-install TWRP with Odin but Odin doesn't connect.
and the 3 button recovery option still does not work.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyone please or have I killed the phone.
Questions: What ROM did you flash on TWRP? Steps taken to flash (or link to the ROM that you used with the instructions you followed)? Which TWRP version?
I am unsure what else to try if you cannot boot into recovery or download mode, but this information will assist in a diagnosis and hopefully help from someone more experienced than me.
edit - saw that you flashed Lineage 14-1. and open-gapps-arm-6.0-micro.

Your phone definitely is not killed.
But you're in a logical trap because the problem is a hardware issue (buttons), not the firmware/odin/twrp.
So you need to repair the phone's buttons first, then flash it.
P.S. Was it possible to adjust the volume with the buttons when the phone was operational?

The volume buttons worked fine, the middle frame was replaced with a new one last week which came with Vol and Power buttons and the home button was replaced with a new one at the same time. along with the charging port.

having taken the phone apart, I have tested the button functions on the middle frame with a multi meter, the Volume buttons work as they should as does the power button.
Shorting the relevant contacts on the main board produces the same results as before, ie, the Galaxy S5 Powered by Android screen, with the "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" in yellow at the top.
so unless there is a some way of forcing the phone to recognise the USB or getting into recovery, or a low level way of replacing the ROM I have a big problem.

You definetily know, home button is really located on the USB (charging port) PCB, which you've just replaced, don't you?

Yes.
Then it looks like a mystery.
Maybe a jig resistor will help.
In theory, a 300 kOhm resistor between pins 4 and 5 of microUSB should make the phone boot to download mode.

Thanks for that, I don't have any resistors in my boxes, so I would need to order some but it was easier to order a ready made jig which should be here tomorrow so I'll let you know what happens.
If it works, do you know of a source of instructions in how to recover the system please?
If it works and if you're able to get into the download mode, I'd recommend to flash a factory service (4-files) firmware for your SM-G900F and your regional code.
It can be downloaded form Samsung servers with "samfirm" program.

Yes, you should use Odin. I'm not sure which version is enough, I use 3.12, you can download it from my cloud.
If you've downloaded a service factory firmware file you can see 4 files inside zip.
Unpack the zip and "insert" these 4 files into Odin's slots:
BL - to BL
AP - to AP
CP - to CP
CSC - to CSC.

used the Samfirm program but it downloaded 1 file: G900FXXS1CQD1_G900FOXA1CPJ6_G900FXXS1CQAV_HOME.tar.md5 not 4, there doesn't seem to be an option to download anything else.

It's a "must have" file in your situation because this service firmware reformats and wipes the phone's memory without need to enter recovery.
If you could get into recovery then a common "HOME" firmware would be enough.

Dongle arrived this morning, plugged in and recovery mode in 3 seconds, used Odin 3.12 with the 4 file download and the phone is back to Android 6.0.1.
Thank you very much for all your help, I have learnt a lot, never having used Android before. At least if I try to root again and things go wrong, I now have a bit more knowledge to rectify things.
