5.0 maps cannot get directions. Anyone else? - Fascinate General

So i have the new google maps (5.0) and i am getting a gps lock in seconds but it never gets directions.
I let it go for 30 mins on the way home today an it never loaded directions. I could see my location behind the scene following my location perfectly.
Anyone else experience this?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.

I had this problem too....I had to uninstall and reinstall the previous version of it I had in titanium backup.

Well I decided to change kernels...I'm on jt's superclean .9 rom and I went to rom manager and installed 11/11 stable kernel and now the new maps are working. I'm not sure if that was my fix but it's working now.

i just heard on IRC that this is rom specific. and seems to be doing this on sonofskywalker3's roms. you could try to change roms and see if that helps. me... i'm gonna stay and wait for an update. I love how my phone is set up and everything,

I had the problem on his... But I decided to do a full wipe and clean install of it... did NOT restore maps (from backups) and all was well.
ps. I did not previously do a full wipe when i first went to his...

It will not work with the Skywalker roms, I tried everything. It does however work just fine with the jt superclean and the 12/16 release. ( I put on the voodoo5 )

This is going to sound lame, but can anyone shed light on how to actually LOOK at the map in 3d ???? I know they don't have it here in LA, but I looked up San Francisco, and still no dice.
What am I missing ????

Froyo. In the help section or the description of google maps in the market says u must have 2.2 and multitouch screen which fascinate has.

Well I have different problem with 5.0. When I'm in my neighborhood, I have no problem with gps. When I'm in another city the gps has problem locating my current location and I live in NYC.

You don't need froyo for the 3d view. Use both thumbs one in each corner of the screen, and drag down simultaneously.

market out
market is out for me as well i was flashing all kind of roms must b a server down ive read some of the post and a lot of people are out as well and also on different devices as well so ill go back to mod'n my hero and wait
I am running cm6 and mine has been out for a few hours.
I just downloaded google maps about five minutes ago running aospbot nightly but it took an extremely long time. flashing the latest nightly gave me network error though anyone wanna man up and flash run the ruu to find out if it's just a rom issue or if it's google.
market is down...looks like there will be a major upgrade!
Mine works
Working again, no upgrades...

yeah i was having that trouble when I was testing RegawMOD 3.0 lol I thought it was something I did! good to know!
my market has been acting up for a couple days now and its still doing it anyone know of a fix? I thought it was my rom but I've wiped and flashed a different rom and still the same problem.
mine loads fine but when i go to download an app the download arrow pops up for a sec then goes away and it never finishes downloading... good to know it's not just me
I'm having far worse problems with my phone. I started out with the market going slow, clicking to download an app, then waiting 5 to 10 minuets until the download starts. Then came the network errors on the market, taking 12 hours for downloads to start. Now, finally, when I type in www.google.com in my browser, my phone just sits there, looking at me like I'm stupid.
I can go to bing, yahoo, xda, penny-arcade, kotaku. I just can't go to any site related to google, on an operating system coded, ran, and maintained by google. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the definition of irony.
Anyway, if it helps any, I'm running 2.2 cm6, flashed between that and Zenhero 2.1 and the stock rom, doing factory wipes, and both regular and davlik(sp?) cache wipes in between.
Weird, I've had no issues to speak of, running cm6 830 and now 831

[Q] DroidX Froyo market issue

Updated sucessfully to Froyo! Everything runs great.... Except that I can't connect to the market.
I get a time out error/can't connect. Gmail and all other apps have no issues.
I have tried this solution:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/06/12/tip-market-app-issue-in-froyo/
and, this solution:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/team-chaos/49974-market-update-fix-froyo-leaked-version-2-a.html
without success. The second one caused a boot loop and I had to re-flash .604 via SBF/RSD.
Anyone have any suggestions or a fix for the DroidX?
Both of those links were for the droid. Im have the same issue though.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I was aware that they were for the Droid... I was just hoping that they would work for the DX.... although after looking at the build.prop files I now realize that was a REALLY STUPID NOOB error.
I guess I was hoping that the .zip's contained some code that would change a setting and not RR the whole file.
If someone knows what setting needs to be changed please let me know. For now, I'll have to go back to 2.1 if I can't get the market.
I don't think its an X on Froyo issue, Markets not working on my EVO and X
Google server error?
Other Android users(non-Droid X Froyo users) have reported the same issue in another forum. Seems to be a "Google side" error. Probably just maintenance because of all the Froyo releases this month.

Cleared cache in Market all is good
I was having the same issue yesterday, but tried it today and all works again. Must have been a Google problem.
Good info bro! I cleared the market data and all fine now. Thanks

It was a market issue. Market works great now!

Gps seems to work (real gps, no wireless networks) with Viper Rom!

As many of you know, I am one of the long time GPS vocalists as far as the EPIC goes. I know exactly how to replicate the gps issues. I've been screaming my head off about it since I bought it, as far as how poor the gps was.
SO I got sick of the stock and installed the viper rom + the new modem + the dk17 kernal.
My phone has been on since tuesday WITH NO reboots and NO "use wireless networks"
today, after more then 48 hour of run time, I decided to whip out google maps.
REAL GPS located me within 20 seconds. I then proceeded to use it for 3 or 4 hours and it was all set!
Just FYI.
Awesome! Thanks for the report, I've been watching this issue.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
It's not just the Viper ROM. It's any of the 2.2 ROM's that use the DK17 Modem. They all work if installed properly.
J3ff which rom did you come from, DI18 stock?
I'm using the same ROM with no luck GPS-wise. And yes, I installed the D17 modem.
Im on mammons froyo. Gps didn't work. Just flashed the dk17 modem and got an instant lock on!

same :X char
Well damn, I guess I spoke too soon. Tried to use it again today and it's up to it's usual crap.
I really thought after it working great 48 hours later I was clear!
Damn.....the epic is playing with me.
I used the ACS Froyo ROM for several days and used GPS quite frequently without issue. Today I flashed Quantum 1.5 and GPS is still spot on.
well another surprise.
Still havent rebooted it since I installed.......so about a week. - No other gps programs being used or anything, loaded google maps, found me with real gps in 10 seconds..
Now I'm really confused.
I've heard the problem is often temporarily resolved when some GPS cache or another gets flushed. This is why everyone thinks the problem is fixed as soon as they install a new ROM.

Right and I understand that.
I've followed the gps threads like a hawk.
I had to use google maps again later on this afternoon and again, it worked just fine. No wireless networks active. Straight up GPS, lock within 10 seconds.
Will try again tomorrow morning.
Just to reiterate, I have NOT rebooted my phone (or let it die) once since I installed the rom.
I have rebooted my phone, multiple times actually and still have GPS access... just a heads up

Trouble installing apps after dl30

I have exactly the same problem (installing apps and facebook)
I have no idea how to fix :/
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Market>Clear Data
Ditto. DL30 install went fine, set it up w/ my Google account, even made sure I was in Talk (that was mentioned somewhere), went to Market to install Titanium Backup, no go. Starts downloading, then just quits, with no message or error.
Hmm...

FDro -> this did not work for me
Its funny that this was brought up with the DL30 leak because I am having this exact same market downloading issue on DL09 that I've been running w/o no issues for about 2 weeks now. App states "Downloading" then stops w/o any errors. Have already tried the clear Market Cache, also tried the Uninstall Updates, no go on either. Issue is with both WiFi and 3G.
+1 here. I've re-formatted/cleared/reflashed, waited for the market to update, pretty much everything I can think of so far.
Everything else (and I mean everything) is fine! 3G data and Wifi are both working very well for browsing/e-mail/etc. Just the market is broken.
At one point I did have Angry Birds get to about 6% downloaded, but it was VERY slow. It's the only app I had start downloading at all.
I hope somebody smart swoops in with a "you guys are idiots ... do this" post
I am having the same issue. Tried clearing data. I have no "uninstall updates".
There's some chatter in irc that's it's a server issue, not the market app...
Same here. Any fix? I cleared data under settings no luck yet. Hoping for a fix.
So this is a problem on DL09 too? This could be a Google problem.
is there a way to update to new market app ? maybe it will help.
Yeah I think there's something wrong with the server..couldn't update any apps on mine or my fiancées fascinates

Classic bad timing on our part! I love it!
I can and shall wait until tomorrow. Besides, I wiped my SD card and have about 12GB of MP3s to re-sync. Plenty of stuff to do.
Thanks!!!

App Market is in and out .. Rumors are it is going web based tomorrow .. Know what that means? Google Music .. FINGERS CROSSED!
Yeah, Google Music would be awesome. Oh, and I was just able to do my downloads and updates about 2 minutes ago. Maybe I got lucky?

Google NAV fix, plus a ?

In this evo thread someone also noticed that turning sound off on nav fixes the fc's (also mentioned in an epic thread).

They think its linked to tts, which is removed in several rom's, any thoughts?

I don't use the stock robot. I use the British lady from SVOX.
Ok, but since all of my ROMs, and anderson's Simply AOSP v4 exclude tts and some language files, I'm wondering if its the problem. I don't even think NAV uses the missing files, but maybe they need to be in place.
It uses the stock tts so you may need to copy that back in. Push to system/app. Pull it out of the deodexed stock rom.

Thanks man, but I guess I'm really looking for some insight, just want to know if not having tts installed could cause the wide spread google NAV FC problem. Anyone?

Technically, yes since it is missing the necessary support file for the voice. I am surprised that it doesn't have an error message about "tts not installed" or something though. And is it wide spread? This is the first I am hearing about it..unlike the 6 threads on su binaries. I am guessing you are correct and it is ROM specific. Flash the full stock rom deodex and see if that fixes it for you.

Just making sure I understand what fc you're referring to specifically; are you talking about the 'invisible' fc that happens associated with gps where it basically stops working in Google Nav? Or is this a different one? The reason I ask is, if its the one I'm thinking of, it happens in every pre-official stock Gingerbread ROM release I've tried, but doesn't on EC05, and if this is the same thing you're referencing, I'd be pretty confident in saying that a *lack* of TTS doesn't cause it anyway. If its something different you're referencing then...my bad
Well that's what I'm sorta trying to narrow down, I always used TeleNAV on GB. But in Simply AOSP v4 I do see an FC about 1min into NAV, but once muted it dosnt happen. I wonder if someone has/could try the mute trick on GB to see if that fixes "the hidden FC".
I am on Hurricane and use SVOX British Lady and don't get any FC or vibration, EH17 ROM and modem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Interesting....I wasn't even aware of SVOX until this thread. I don't know when I'll have cause to go somewhere long enough to try it (I live about 3 miles from where I work), but I downloaded SVOX plus the 'Victoria' UK voice you mentioned and will try it (on EG22 here) next time I'm going anywhere of more significant length. If switching off of Pico fixes this issue I'll be thrilled, I haven't been able to consistently rely on Google Nav through Maps since EC05.
Yeah, I never used Google Nav because I hated Mrs. Roboto but with the British chick it is more tolerable.

hmm
i used to turn off the volume and the ff would go away in the past i thought everyone would do that. but the g maps is buggy on the epic. sometimes the volume would cut out on its own and freeze. or freeze for some other reasons. sorry i have used so many different roms and i used to use the gps daily when i rode the bike alot. but i havent used it in awhile for the epic. i moved to the nexus
Edit::: Thanks Kenny, it looks like it was tts.
