Flashed via ODIN back to JPO and its there. Reflashed with Kies (reg hack) to JPX and its gone again....
Insert an external_sd und you will see the exportfeature again. It exports contacts to sdcard\external_sd\0000001.vcf
I dont have an external card. What can I do ? Thanks !

Hi,
I don't think it's Galaxy S related so if it's the wrong place, it would be great if someone could move it to Android general.
So, I own a Samsung Galaxy S (international) and a micro SD Card Kingston. This morning, I tried to modify my GS (get root access, use voodoo lagfix, ...) and now, I have a problem.
When I start the GS, everything works fine, I can see my SD Card and my music on it. If I connect the GS on a computer (Gentoo or Windows, doesn't matter), the OS doesn't detect the 32GB SD Card.
When I turn off the USB connection, my SD Card disappeared, I can't access it from the GS anymore.
I have the external SD Card that is a perfect copy of Internal SD Card (~6GB) => Settings -> SD Card and phone storage.
If I want to get access to my 32GB SD Card, I have to reboot my GS.
By the way, I did a backup with MyBackup (I removed the 32GB SD when i did that) and the app copied the backup in /mnt/sdcard/external_sd which was empty.
So now, here is the /mnt/sdcard/external_sd :
Boot (32GB activated) :
/mnt/sdcard/external_sd = 32GB SD Card content (music, movies, ...)
After connecting the USB and change the GS as mass storage device :
/mnt/sdcard/external_sd = MyBackup's backup (6GB content).
Another thing, If i reboot the GS and connect it to kies (not mass storage), I can find my 32GB SD Card and when I close Kies, it's still okay in the Galaxy S, I can still use my 32 GB SD Card.
It's strange.
Can someone help me with this ?
Thanks.
I had a similar problem with my sgs some time ago with stock rom. Samsung support suggested me to hard reset.
After flashing a new firmware everything worked flawlessly.
Kies might be the problem.
Dont know a lot anyway.

Hi,
thanks for the answer. I'll try another ROM.
Btw, I read that Gingerbread is coming out in March. If I use a custom ROM (Darky 9.2, Insanity, CM7, ... whatever), could it be possible to get the Samsung Update (after a factory reset for example).
For the moment, I have a voodoo lagfix with recovery mode (e2). Could it be broken after the update ?
Thanks.

No you will need Odin and stock rom or a custom rom .
Kies upgrade path requires correct product code and firmware and hardware codes .

Hi,
are you sure about that ? I tried another ROM called Darky Rom 9.2 Resurrection and I had a wifi problem (couldn't get IP address : if anyone can help me with this because I really did like this ROM). I was bored trying so I connected the SGS to Kies and it installed me Froyo.
After that, I still had to use Voodoo kernel but my SGS is working just fine.
My phone reset itself for no reason. It was laggy so I restarted. When it rebooted, all the apps I had installed wod force close (samsung default apps worked fine) and all my personal info was gone (phone nos, contacts, settings, etc).
When this happened first two times, i replaced my phone. Now it happened on the replacemwnt SGS.
I am thinking it may be the sd card (I am using an 8gb external sd I have from my previous Moto Mestone). I've been running for about a week with no reset since I took the card out from the phone. I would however like to use the sd card for the additional storage.
Anybody know if the sd card could have been the problem and maybe how to fix it?

Yes, it sounds like this
Did you already try to boot the phone without the external-SD-Card being plugged in? Or just tried booting with another external SD-Card?
If not, copy over your data form ext. SD-Card to your PC and reformat the external SD-Cardwithin the system settings.
Maybe there are some system files from your Milestone left which SGS doesn't like
Installed Darky's rom. Do not seem to have that problem anymore.
Thanks

As the title says, my phone can no longer write to any external source (Sd card or OTG USB drive.)
I'm on the BTU CSC firmware. My phone shipped with EGY. Not sure what to do. Any ideas?
Edit: Can't delete files either. It appears that any external memory source is read only. If I switch back to my original CSC it works though....
So it appears to be a system issue... I have FX file explorer (which was failing too) and I removed and re-added Sd card write access and it works. So if I could figure out how to make the system re-ask for external Sd card permission I'll be good. Anybody know which app controls those permissions?

- Go to the Development forum and download @TEKHD 's rom and grab 'etc/permissions/platform.xml' file from his rom (you'll have to download the rom .zip file and extract it).
- Back up your own and then replace it using a root explorer/file manager app (you will need root permissions).
- Give him a thanks for fixing that issue for us

I'm not rooted. I've found a lot of use of Samsung Pay. Thanks for the suggestion though. Any other ideas?

Anybody? I can't be the only one who's faced this issue.....
Another observation, stock camera can't write to external sources either. Really need to find which app handles that permission.

I had this with my SD card (no otg) and fixed it by formatting the SD card via the phone OS. Backed up photos first obv.

Ughhh, that's annoying, especially since the SD Card itself is fine. I flashed the original CSC my phone had before and it works fine. Guess I'll backup and wipe when I flash a new CSC.
