So, images viewed in the browser are kind of blurry/fuzzy. I'm sure that the browser is probably just compressing them for speed or something, but is there a browser that doesn't do this? Or a setting to change? It's especially noticeable when you zoom in on a page. Pictures become blocky.
I've tried the stock browser and Dolphin HD.
No comment? Is this just one of those things that people just deal with and don't talk about?
Use either skyfire or dolphin hd browsers. Those r the best ones. Sometimes in the browser settings, u can change the image quality. Lower quality gives u faster load ups. High quality takes longer but pix way more crisp. They might even have a inbetween one also. Also try opera mini if those don't wrk out for ya

Ive noticed the same thing as well. I've seen it on dolphin. Weird thing is when I touch the image and move it around it seems to clear up?

I can't say i've noticed this, can you take a picture or post a website that has such pictures?
My only browser issue is the fail of a text auto-fit..
I think the only one that does this right is skyfire.
When you zoom in after you let go everything autofits incorrectly..
The stock android browser does this correctly as well, but HTC's doesn't...
Pictures taken in PORTRAIT (with just holding the phone straight up) do not save EXIF data correctly, and are shared as LANDSCAPE when "Shared" to Messaging, Gmail, etc. This is ****ing embarrassing.
You can try out Camera 360. I love that app and use it as my default photo app, I have the paid version. It might resolve your issue. Since I have not gotten my phone yet I cannot test to see if it works.
Link to free version.

You sure it's not just your web browser, or Gmail? I haven't checked in a while, but Exif rotational data was rarely used in browsers in recent history. Try opening your photo using the new version of Picasa to see if it's rotated correctly.
No, it is still screwed up. Take a picture in portrait. Then click "Share" to Messaging, Gmail, Facebook, whatever. It will preview as a sideways (landscape) photo, thus looking stupid.
It does preview that way, have you confirmed it sends that way?
Picture related, my panorama shots do not work, I get panorama failed pop up

Yes, I've confirmed that it "shares" that way to Messaging, Gmail and Picasa, and of course Facebook.
Interestingly enough, the original Droid has this problem. It doesn't seem to bother anyone. This is a huge bummer. No idea how to fix this.
Also after taking a photo, and previewing it, the whole screen orientation is in Landscape, no matter what you do. Keyboard open, keyboard closed - all the same. That's frustrating as well. Anyone got any ideas or insight?
Try using a photo editor such as PicSay and rotating the picture into landscape. Then maybe when you send it, it will send the right way
That definitelyorks, although I prefer Photoshop Express. But that is an honest unecessary hassle.

Bugs the hell out of me.
As far as I can tell there is no portrait mode on the Epic - that's why all of the controls are locked to landscape mode and rotating the phone doesn't do shiz.
I really hope they fix this.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The EVO 4G used to be like that, but in the Froyo 2.2 update they made it so the controls will auto-orientate to portrait mode. But, when you used to take photos pre-Froyo, they would always rotate correctly.
I've been rotating my photos in Photoshop Express but holy **** it compresses the hell out of them, making them go from 1MB~ to almost 30kB. Anyone have any ideas?
Same issue on my Vibrant

Maybe our Froyo update will fix the whole shebang. I really hope that Samsung didn't just frak me over with a crippled crappy phone that doesn't get bug fixes like they did with my Intrepid (the bastard child of Windows Mobile and Samsung) - Galaxy S is their flagship and they need to get on top of stuff.
I am not getting this issue. Can you give me the steps to duplicate it?
I pressed the camera button.
I took a portait picture.
I went into gallery.
I shared with both Picasa and emailed via gmail to myself.
In both it was displayed as Portait.
I noticed this last night. It's extremely annoying. Have to go on photoshop express as well.

Again, I am not getting this issue at all. Can someone detail how to duplicate it?
This could be a usage pattern thing. I detailed how I did it, and it works fine. What are you guys doing differently? If needed I can make a video showing that it works for me.

I am doing the exact same thing as what you're doing, and still getting pictures showing up as landscape, when they were taken with the phone held straight up.
Do you notice after you take a picture and click the PLAY button from the camera UI, the whole "preview" mode is in landscape?

No, in preview they are also correctly in Landscape. Perhaps you need to have the phone in portrait when you start the camera application?
Even while the camera app is loaded I took one picture in Landscape, then Portrait. Both displayed correctly in preview and after emailing.
I can feel your frustration though, that would be lame if it didn't do that. I will make a video tonight, not sure if it will help, but it might give you hope. As a last resort maybe you should try a hard reset back to defaults? I hate to recommend that, but it might work. Seeing as mine works and I have not tweaked anything camera related.
p.s. This might not be related, but I did not get the OTA patch after starting my phone, my GF's epic did. So my phone shipped already patched. I will test her camera tonight as well.
Settings > About Phone > Hardware Version = D700.0.5
my phone does the same thing and it annoys me A LOT
Everytime I go to 511.org, after some time the browser closes and the phone jumps to a blank home screen.
I use ADW and it looks like all the icons are gone, and in a couple of seconds everything comes back.
Does anyone else experience this? Or can someone else try it?
Stock 2.2 rooted, netarchys 4.1.8-cfs
Never heard of that site before this thread.
Crashed my browser too, about 10 seconds after opening the page.
Running cm6 with stock cm kernel, using dolphin HD browser
I get such crash viewing surfline.com when I do lots of zoom in & out on their home page
confirmed. stock froyo'ed. dolphin browser.
i think the dolphin browser tells the site its regular computer instead of a mobile device. probably the java script is confusing the dolphin browser...
Same thing on my friends stock 2.2 on regular browser.
FANTASTIC!
So I'm not crazy.
It happens to me on both stock browser and dolphin, whether it's in mobile view or not.
Now, does anyone know how to diagnose what's wrong and/or fix this?
Would anything meaningful show up in the log file?
goatse.cx crashes my browser, as does lemonparty.org...
Just sayin'.
Crashed my stock 2.2 Evo back to the 4g screen.

All the browsers I've been using for my phone are slow, laggy especially in forums and typing is a pain. Why?
Miren; is slow on forums and loading pages. Scrolling is choppy and typing on forums is so bad. Loading massive pictures on forums is a pain.
Dolphin HD; is the same as above, but not as bad. Still an issue.
Skyfire; not as bad on forums, but not as good as say iPhone or Opera mini browser on forums.
Opera Mini; awesome scrolling, but no pinch to zoom, no link detection on forums, typing on forums is good. Website compatibility issues, like my bank for example.
Opera 10 beta; website compatibility... I can't remember what else I didn't like about it. *** edit *** oh I remember no flash support as of now, same with mini
Stock; Tabs suck, scrolling suck, forum typing sucks, can't exit program without task killer or hitting back 1000000000 times.
All the browsers suck at scrolling, but the one that is good there's a whole new set of issues. Why? is it my ROM (Team Whiskey) not being fully compatible or something to do with android in general?
I'm still on JI6 2.1~1 update but rooted but didn't modify anything browser wise and stock browser as well as opera both scroll and pinch to zoom fast with no lag or stutter so I dunno.
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant using XDA App
OP did you try disabling flash? My broswer works fine using bionix V. Try using JFD or JI6. Browser in 2.1 is waaay faster than 2.2
I dunno what would cause bad performance like that, maybe clear your cache data. I actually prefer the stock and Opera browsers better than their desktop versions for reading blogs and forums...maybe cause I can do it laying down and one handed thanks to swype.
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA app, Bionix-v 1.21
You could try flashing that 2.2.1 ROM. The browser in 2.2.1 is supposed to be faster, right?
All the browsers suck in froyo for using forums. I cant even see what im typing atm due to the way they got rid of text editing box. The only browser ive found that still has it is opera mini and that has silly refresh issues that end up deleting your post before you can submit it.
Also lol at the captcha on this site. Was bloody hard to do on mobile. Especially for a forum about mobile development...
Have you tried Dolphin Mini? Its not perfect either, but I've tried all the browsers you listed as well, and this one has been my favorite so far.
firefox is ok, its has smooth scrolling, but it takes a while to start up and its a resource hog.
I happen to like Miren Browser from the market. Its free and gets the job done and often times allows me to DL attachments and such not normally accessible.
Hi
I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread with found bugs in the 2.3.3 software for the X10. Please report other bugs here.
Audio Stutter
Missed calls on lock screen (But there is no missed calls, something else triggers this message
998 MHz: Full processor speed.
Camera menu doesn't rotate in portrait
Anyone more than me with f**ked-up calls? You can't hear the other parts. Just some strange noisenoise. Happened yesterday, and today.
The camera works only in landscape mode.

Your camera does not work in Portrait mode?
Or you mean the menu does not rotate?
In my X10, camera DOES work in Portrait mode...
Even Upside down, it will work...
But the menu stay in Landscape mode only...
Why not just say the menu does not rotate...
Instead of saying camera does not work?
Is your camera stop taking picture in Portrait mode?
It might be a feature and not a bug...
bugs for me:
- unable to open any https webpage in any of the browsers (dolphin,stock,opera...)
- when going to m.facebook.com and clicking any external link it does not work, tried all the browsers
These 2 features used to work perfectly on 2.1
Yes, you are right. The menu of the camera is not rotating from landscape to potrait. for me it feels like a bug.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I don't have any issue accept RAM. Although it's low but the phone run smooth.
there's a similar thread here fyi
Ok, the camera menu seems like a bug.
continuing in that thread then. Thanks
I personally think this is a better thread with the bugs in the first post. I'll read the other One though. Not all issues in the other thread are bugs...
- ugly looking UI & apps,
- one way camera UI,
- music app much behind from Mediascape (o.k., equalizer, but the rest is crap)
- calendar like from stone age, useless
- not any connection between UI of stock apps, like they were doing a car from different company spare parts
- ...
I'm still on 2.1.B.0.1, rooted and JIT.
Regards, Zagor
Im closing this cause there is already a 2.3.3 issues thread
