HELP!! Droid X and video/audio problems - Droid X General

Hi, im new to the rooting process, and i searched the forums to no avail. Anyways i have my phone rooted with the the GummyJar rom installed, but none of my video files (ones i put on the phone and ones that i have recorded) will work, also none of my audio works either. i used the root explorer and went to the system folder and found the build prop file and edited it all the values were set to false already. Has anyone had these issues or did i do something wrong?
** also i click on the camera and switch it to record video and it will force stop everytime.

Mic gain and "scratchy sound" / default.acdb (Not the robo error)

A issue that need som attention:
In all the latest kernels I have used, the mic gain is to high on the HD2.
To fix this we previously could rename or delete default.acdb. The downside whit this fix now is that i get an "system has stopped" error after rebooting and i dont know if this affects other parts of the build/kernel as well.
I know this is a issue that several other have as well but as it seems not everybody.
Maybe this issue is something the great devs of XDA should adress? Great work by the way.
The thread with the previous fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805002&highlight=default.acdb
I've had this fix (renaming/deleting default.acdb) done on many builds and it never showed me an error message or any evidence of a problem.
Maybe you're passing data.img file from build to build and not starting with a new fresh
one?
Always fresh when changing build/kernel.
But strange if its only me that get the error.
If this should be looked at by devs offcourse depends on how many that this issue conserns.
I know the default.acdb is to find in at least two places:
/system/etc/firmware (this is the location I renamed default.acdb)
"and"
/etc/firmware
I have tried to rename the file in the other location as well but that really made my phone go crazy.
I only rename the one at: /system/etc/firmware
This is just to solve for me the mic gain so that others won't think I am in some factory.
hey oyvpet. you are the only other person that seems to have the same issue i have. I posted the same question in the mdj revolution 1.7 build thread because it was the first build that gave me this issue but now it's happening in mdj's desire hd 4.0 build as well. i guess it's not build specific but it does not happen on all builds for me.
no one else seemed to have the same issue so i figured out a way to fix it by trying a number of things and i actually did come up with a working solution. just renaming default.acdb gives a force close at start-up, as does deleting/moving the file completely. What seems to work for me is replacing it with a dummy file.
step 1 - download the installation file "es file explorer.apk" and put it on your SD card.
step 2 - using root explorer for the rest of the steps, delete default.acdb from system/etc/firmware.
step 3 - rename "es file explorer.apk" - "default.acdb"
step 4 - drag your "new" default.acdb from your sd card location to system/etc/firmware.
step 5 - full restart back to WM (not hot restart)
android will now boot up normally, without a force close error and your friends will not complain about you talking to them on your phone, in the shower with the water running.
i don't know if other apk's work. i did try root explorer.apk too and it did fix the force close at start-up but i still had the loud echo on the other end.
good luck.

[Guide] How to record Call On our Galaxy 3

All Galaxy 3 Firmwares don't have the ability to record both streams of a call. This is not a bug, it was designed like this because in most countries it is illegal to record someone without their permission. Yes, there are apps that will let you record a call, but without software support, it will record the other end from the microphone, which will result in low quality, but there is a workaround.
This might be illegal in your country! I'm not responsible if you get sued for recording someone without their permission.
12.1 Download the attached "CallRecord.zip" and unpack it.
12.2 After unpacking you should have 3 .so files. You need to get these files into your /system/lib folder with either adb or by copying them to the phone and then using "Root Explorer" to copy them to the proper folder.
12.3 Reboot.
12.4 After the phone has rebooted, you can use most apps that are on the market to record calls properly (that means not from the microphone). I use AllCallRecorder because it is simple and does the job. There are also Phone.apk's that have call recording built in, you could also install one of those and record your calls with it.
Sorry don't use this . Not working.

Problem!!
Hmm.. Thought i was the only one. I'm stuck at Samsung logo for abt an hr now.
gonna try flashing ROM to recover. Nothing works as of now. Tried Factory Reset and Rebooting etc., Please be clear on the specificity of changing our Phone's settings It might not end well for all. And I don't know if it helps, I moved the files through Root Explorer and my phone is I5801.

[Q] Wifi Problems [Solved]

Phone: Samsung S4 mini SGH-I257m (Canada Rogers)
Android 4.2.2 I257MVLUAMK5
I used an app called "Wifi Pass Recovery & Backup" and it killed my wifi. It tries to turn on and fails. I could redo my phone completely but I would rather fix it.
I have tried many things:
I made a backup with the app before doing anything and restoring that did nothing. Using the in app "reset wifi settings" button also did nothing but remove my saved networks.
Using ES File Explorer I have looked at the /system/bin/wps_supplicant, /data/misc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf, /system/etc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf. Played around with permissions, owner and checked MD5 with backed up versions. One thing I noticed was that the permissions seemed to reset when I would reboot.....
I used logcat and couldn't gain any ground there.
Some post I saw said something about replacing /system/bin/wps_supplicant with the one from the stock firmware, but i couldn't figure out how to find the files in the firmware I downloaded. I did find a factory image from google and was able to extract the files I was looking for, but they didn't work either. No surprise there.
I would love some help this as you guys are the experts!
Thanks!
Are there any other files that have to do with wifi? They might be worth checking out.
Solved
Ok....So, I was able to fix the problem by going back to the stock ROM. Not what I was wanting but whatever.
In an effort to try to figure out what happened, I cross-checked the stock files with the the ones I had before.
- the MD5 checksum of /system/bin/wpa_supplicant was identical
- /system/etc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf was identical
- /data/misc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf had a difference with config_methods. Stock was 'physical_display', old was 'physical_display virtual_push_button keypad'
So as far as I can tell.....that one entry was the problem.

LG G2 F320S Camera Shutter Sound & Info About Camera Workings

About two months ago I purchased an LG G2 F320S which is really good, except for one thing that's really annoying me: because it's a Korean variant, I'm unable to silence the camera when taking a picture.
I've rooted my phone and tried installing LGCamera.apk from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670972
Given the poster of the apps seems to have the D802 variant, which I believe gives you the option of silencing the camera when taking a picture, I would have expected that installing this APK to provide me the same option. However, after placing the APK and ODEX files in the priv-app directory and restarting, my camera still has no option to silence it (the same 4 shutter sound options).
I have seen some flashable camera packages posted on here which also contain native libraries, but I don't see how these help because the sound files are contained in the APK (also, I don't have a custom recovery flashed as I nearly bricked the phone permanently the last time I tried - had even managed to mess up download mode). I've previously unzipped the APK and tried to remove or change the sound files, but it looks like the resources are signed in some manifest file so that changing them isn't possible without going through the process of creating a signed package (and I would assume you'd need LG's private key in order to achieve that, rather than being allowed to sign your own). What does flashing the C/C++ native libraries give you?
The most annoying thing is that the shutter sound wouldn't even stop a determined perve, as there are camera apps in the Play Store which just save the screen preview (ie full HD image, in the case of the G2) as a photo without making a sound, so the whole thing is just pointless and annoying.
Can anyone provide me with information or pointers to information on how to get rid of the stupid shutter sound on the F320S variant while being able to take 13 megapixel pictures? I am a C# developer and am not a complete stranger to Linux or Java, so feel free to be technical. Even just some information on why my bundled camera APK will install, but others won't (though some will when you restart the device after placing them in the priv-app folder when the phone does an 'installing update' thing) would be useful to know.
Thanks in advance!

I have a UK EE LG G2 and I can assure you that that trying to silence the camera click doe NOT work! By all accounts you need to 'root' the phone and delete 'cameraclick.ogg' (which I believe is only accessible when in root (which you appear to have?)
.
Michael
A Bit of an off-topic thing, but i am facing the same problem on my Lg g3 as well.
Removing the camera_click.ogg from the system>media>audio>ui folder does not do the trick.
The actual LGCamera.apk will need to be decompiled and the audio file contained in the res>raw folder will need to be replaced with a silent one.
However i do not know the exact procedure to recompile and re-sign the apk again

Exactly the issue, so I've given up on it. In fact, I removed root entirely (not an easy job) as it was preventing updates.
I had tried replacing the sound files in the camera app, but the package needs to be signed. I would assume that just signing the package isn't enough, but that it would need to be signed by an LG authorised key for it to be recognised.

Just to let you know the new G3 Tweakbox Xposed Module works like a charm and silences all the annoying camera sounds. Time to root again I guess lol

Can't edit files??

I've searched for this and haven't been able to find the answer. It's driving me crazy.
Using Gone Mad Media Player (GMMP), I have in the past been able to edit the id3 tags on a certain album (that for whatever reason will not edit on my PC, the files all show edited properly) to change the Album Art tag from whatever it is to "Various".
I was able to do this on my Nexus (not rooted) just fine.
I just got a T-Mobile (US) S7 Edge, which I am mostly very happy with.
I loaded my music on the SD card and away I went. I went to perform the same edit and was asked to grant write permissions to GMMP. Weird (first time I've had to do that in the 5.1.1 > 6.0 > 6.0.1 of my Nexus), but ok. I granted the permissions.
The App still won't perform the requested changes. It goes through the motions but the files remain unchanged.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I tried other id3 editors but nothing has worked.
