Got a new SDCard... - Nexus One General

I'm running CM6 Nighties and WildMonks AVS/CFS Kernel but I've never done anything special with the SDCard. It's just the 4gig card that came with the Nexus One and I haven't formatted it since Eclaire, probably about 200+ flashes ago!
So... I got a new 16 gig card; is there anything special I should do before I start using this?
Oh, and can I just transfer the files over, keeping the directory structure or is there more to it?
Thanks a bunch,
Billy

you might want to give the EXT4 partition more space since there will be DATA2EXT

Alright. No other suggestions? I guess it's just an SD Card, right?

Yes, you can just copy files and it will work. At last works for me
I think without any moves it will stuck on boot, especially if you using app2sd.
Moved from sandisk 16gb to kingston 16gb.
Btw i always thought that nexus1 comes with 16gb card.. i founded my one in the box, box was sealed. It was Sandisk 16gb Class2, that i have changed to Kingston 16gb class6

might want to fill it up once or twice ot make sure you really have a 16Gb card before you trust your data on it.
there is a flood of bad / fake microsd cards out there now.

Make sure you copy over all this hidden files and directories too.

Download h2testw and run test on the card and makesure you get what you paid for.

Box was sealed..
Or Korea Telecom have found the way hot to broke it, put-in fake 16gb card, seal it and sell it.... via their own office

nueStorageManager is a control panel applet that lets you control and fine tune storage on your device. It enables you to format, defragment and scan storage on your device, as well as mount and unmount devices.

It's my understanding you should NEVER defragment flash based storage as 1) All areas of the disk are read at the same speed and 2) Due to the limited # of reads/writes flash media will take you are basically shortening the life of your card.
Why would you defragment a storage card? You defragment a HDD so it doesn't have to spin to find the data as much, but why a storage card?
I jsut got the Vogue version of this yesterday. The version I have only has the option to mount which is what I need. It's better than Softick because it's freeware and better than WM5Storage because it supports 8GB SDHC. Plus it just works!
Defragmentation on storage card is goods
Defragmenting card can boost speed of file searching as if the file sare in a logical order its speed the process to find teh file and also fragments of files may be spread over differnet areas which again reduces loading speeds, so this file is very useful and simple in principl, flash cards have a stupid lifetime for over 1,000,000 write operations and a nearly limitness read lifetime..

As of #2, that counts also for a normal harddisk which is 100.000 times for 1 sector. Besides that, this app is not only for formatting, it is also for partitioning. Which is great if you have a large sized memory card. Thanks for this great tool.
Hello,
This is a nice utility for sure. Thank you
My question is that when I run this, and do a scan it tells me I have 529 lost cluster chains, and whether or not I want to keep. It would be nice to say yes to all that are alike although i can only decide on one at a time. perhaps you could fix this. What is a lost cluster chain and should I keep or no? by the way the chains are all 16kb or 48kb.

[Q] killed my SD Card?

Hey guys,
is there any way to get my SD card back to life?
I have installed THIS ROM. Then I wanted to go back to Android again but I wanted to backUp my Device before...
So I used a Method to get a full zune Backup (this - after I clicked, I just recognised that I had used a CAB Deployer with doesnt work with this ROM... SH*T! My SD Card is no longer formattable - not via PC, nor via N900, nor via Android... Any way how to get it back to work?
Thanks
Robin
Resetting from the "About" screen with the sd card in should do it but if not just reinstall wp7 7392 that should do it and then unlock with "dev storage lock" cab.
thanks but
hayy thanks for reply but I already tried to reflash wP 7... nd it still says "Invalid storage card"... should I try it with the cab?
Problem is that even after reflash of WP7 it says "Storage card error" -.-
♥ thanks :d

killed sd card fix.
Hi there my galaxy s gt-i9000 has been with a boot loop problem , and trying to sort that out ,by installing stock roms it started to kill my sd cards, saying (sd card removed) i become with a 2gb samsung and a 8gb that couldn´t be recognized anywhere ,laptop, samsung camera etc... but then i tried in a Nokia 5600 express music and... VOILÀ!!
i could open the sd cards and format them, they came to life.
i don´t know if this will work for you guys , but you can try it and post here if it worked.

SD card trouble.

After rooting and unlocking my bootloader for my Verizon Note 3 , my 16 gigabyte SD card was only shut when it had 15 megabytes... I reformatted it and still the same thing , 15 megabytes. I thought this may be because my SD card was several years old so I bought a new one. Same size 16 gigs.
I had to flash back to stock so I went through the root process and unlocking process again with a new SD card. And now it also says it's only 15 megabytes. I've tried reformatting it several times and nothing helps.. Is anyone else having this trouble?

The unlock process creates a large number of small partitions on the SD card. I was having trouble getting Windows disk management to open with the card inserted, so I used MiniTool Partition Wizard (free) to remove all partitions from the SD card and create a new single partition.
Thanks..I will try this.

Can my SD Card not Edit

Since I have XZ I can edit the SD card as I want. Whether Sony original firmware or Rome from JB- MM. Yesterday I installed the 228 per Flashtool and now I can no matter what is on the device, the SD card does not work. No copying, no deletion, move none, nothing. SD Fix does not work. tries with the terminal and no success. Does anyone have any idea why that has always worked and now suddenly no longer
In the screenshot have SdCard0 and Sdcard1 different permissions and stands at Sdcard0 Legacy. But if I'm going in directly in the authorization settings are the same for both. I can do nothing and on the PC. been on the PC it does display the data deleted, however, are in the unit they're back.

Maximum SD card size on Note 3?

When I first got my Note 3 (years ago), I found that, after somewhere between 16 - 20 gigs, it would just corrupt everything on the external SD. It had some sort of KitKat rom that I've always assumed was stock and I came up with workarounds for the limitations.
I finally went with Jasmine rom and I was hoping it would go away, but no dice. I have three Note 3s with the same problem. I can use whatever size USB drive I want to with the USBOTG cable.
My OG droid and Droid Bionic naver gave me any troubles. What gives with the Note 3?

Well... I have a 32G external SD card in my note 3, put it in when I got the phone Dec 2014 and have had zero issues with it. I use it for backups and downloads and it has usually 25 to 30G of data on it. Never lost anything.
What brand SD cards are you using?

I'm using SanDisc SD cards, the red and grey ones. What kind are you using? My first bit of trouble came when I took my working card out of my Bionic and stuck it in my Note 3.

This is the one I have been using for some time with no problem. If you format the Sd Card, make sure the adapter you plug it into is compatible with 64 mb drives. All of them are not and will format to a smaller size if not compatible.
