Sorry, not a programmer... but I was sitting here with my android phone plugged into a usb port on my computer, sitting up on my desk next to my monitors so I can see visual alerts with the phone on silent, reading some gadget news on the web... and I saw an article that showed a ridiculous setup of monitors hooked to one laptop, including a USB mini-monitor....
my question is... would it be possible to write an app that would make the android function as a usb mini-monitor? I'd love to be able to drag my pandion messenger down there to keep it visible at all times.

Hey all,
I have some generic BT dongle for my computer that I bought a year or so ago to use with my old HTC Typhoon. The dongle allowed my phone at the time to ActiveSync over BT using the BluSoleil software that came with the dongle. However, with the HTC Wizard (MDA vario body with the AKU 3.3), I cannot for the life of me sync over BT. I have no idea what I need to set up and every time I try and do a new "partnership" in the phone for syncing over BT - i select my computer in the devices, yet nothing happens. I cannot establish any COM port communication with the computer and the only type of services that i can push are the vCard from the computer and a "personal area network"...
HOWEVER, if I take my Wizard and connect it to my Thinkpad T60 laptop that has native BT; I can sync to my hearts content... so... someone please give me a clue as to wtf I am supposed to do here to get this to work over BT
Thanks!!!
Anyone? Plweeze?
C'mon, someone must have an idea!
Gave up
I had the same dongle, or at least mine also came with Blue Soleil. I hated that software - it runs a dozen different programs that clog the computer and still doesn't connect properly. I took it off and tried the native MS XP software. It would work once, but when I put the PC to sleep I would have to reboot to get it to connect again. I finally realized that it was much easier to use a cable and gave up. I'll try again when I get a PC with built-in bluetooth.

Where did you get the native XP software? I could never find the native software
Plug and Play
If you don't install software, XP will operate it.
Hi guys
I have a small issue with my remote connectivity to my android, I hope you guys can help with, the scenario is simple and my target is to connect to my android remotely through my laptop while the android is connected to my PC in the other room through USB cable, so what I have done already is that am connecting the Android to the PC through a USB cable and the PC to the Laptop through the LAN, now am connecting Remote desktop from my laptop to the PC and on the PC I installed application that can connect to the android so I can totally see the skin of my android and control it, but the final thing I wish to do is to make a phone call, here I connect a Bluetooth to the PC and I connect the Bluetooth as free handset to the android it didn't totally work,
So guys as you see its interesting scenario and if we work together we can accomplish something really assume
Really appreciate your help, Thanks
There are some computers that can act as a bluetooth "headphone", I'm one of the lucky ones.
Hang on while I search for my bluetooth drivers...
Bluetooth Radio by Qualcomm Atheros
Driver for my Asus N56: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8/Bluetooth/Bluetooth_Atheros_Win8_64_Z800206.zip
It appears that most of the Atheros bluetooth cards support this feature.
Thanks AmeesingNoob
But the thing is that I already got a Bluetooth USB connected to my PC working as a Hands free, so from the PC itself I can do Voice call through the PC speaker and headset but my trouble is that I can’t do this through the Remote laptop that is connected to this PC
So it would be like this:
Mobile Phone Sound > A2DP > Computer 1 > Computer 2

Am I right?
Exactly,
the first connection is between the mobile and the Computer 1 which it is a USB connection, and the second one is between Computer 1 and Computer 2 which it is a LAN / WAN connection.
Ah. Sounds like something I could use too.
I did some searches on Google and browsed some forums; found this.
PulseAudio is a sound server, a background process accepting sound input from one or more sources (processes or capture devices) and redirecting it to one or more sinks (sound cards, remote network PulseAudio servers, or other processes). -- Wikipedia

Please note that this software only runs partially (command line, no gui) on Windows. It was written for Linux computers.
mhhhh
I will try to download it and test it , then I will post my result in here
hope it will do the job,
Good luck!
I'm a noob, not sure where else to get help on this site about my problem... I'm using a ASUS Notebook K53E Series laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1... I'm using a HDMI to project onto a HD TV I have a USB keyboard and mouse hooked up, both Logitech... The problem I'm having is, both the mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting on me... The mouse will go first' I'll move it from one USB port to the other, and it will work, but then stop working again... The keyboard will just stop working, even if I move it I can't get it to reconnect... I have to shutdown my computer to get everything to start working again, but it will only last about a half hour before they stop working again after the reboot... I've went into the device manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers > Generic USB Hub > properties > Power Management, and unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power... This does not help... I then uninstalled it, and rebooted my computer, still doesn't help... I then tried to system restore, I couldn't because I had no restore points, I have no idea why I didn't... I then look if there was any system updates, there was, but minor updates, I updated them anyways, still no go... I'm only having problems with the USB mouse and keyboard... My laptop touch pad and everything else works fine...:fingers-crossed:
... why are you looking for help here? This isn't a tech support forum, it's a dev&hacking forum. It's also not a Win7 forum... there are better places on the Internet to ask for Win7 support! Asus themselves would be a more logical choice, for example.
You could try checking the Event Logs for any abnormal USB events, but I don't really know. Are there any other mice / keyboards you could try, or could you try the ones you have on another computer? Does it work at all to just unplug the mouse/keyboard and plug it in again? Do the devices lose power (lights go out) or do they simply stop responding correctly? Do other USB devices (phone, camera, webcam, headset, flashdrive, whatever) keep on working if you leave them plugged in for a while?

Sorry, like I said I'm a noob... The reason I asked here, because I thought it was a general question for windows OS... I do understand its windows 8 tho... I also didn't want to join some random site to get my answer... I also checked event logs, but I'm not sure how to use it... I have no other computers or mice/ keyboards to test with... The lights stay on, like their still connected, but they don't work... I've pulled them out, and plugged them back in, and even put them in other USB ports... But they will only work for a short while after moving them to a new USB port... They will no longer work in the same port after they stop working until I reboot... I'm also not sure if it's ASUS or Logitech thats the problem...
Hi, I've been reading, re-reading and reading the Android SDK docs about USB connection.
I have developed and application which is quite useful however, after many days and hours of research I cannot for the life of me figure out how to detect:
When my handheld device is attached to any device (macbook, PC, laptop)
Communicate between connected device and handheld using USB
Detect keystrokes on connected device - when I type on the, for example, laptop which my handheld is connected to using USB I'd like to detect when I type on my laptop
Detect any other events such as opening of a browser, application or whatever on connected device using USB
I don't know the vendor information of device what the handheld will be connected to using a USB cable.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm not asking for a solution more a tips, hints and maybe someone knows a library which already handles what I need to solve?
Many thanks in advance.
Detect Connected Laptop/Desktop Events USB
*edit* What I need is a way to find detect keyboard strokes from the device connected to my Android smartphone.
Is it possible to detect whether the handheld is connected to a desktop/laptop and using USB detect the events on the laptop/desktop?
It's looking impossible at the moment. I have spent quite a few days just figuring it out and have got no where.
Thanks in advance.

Windows 6.5 had this function, simply connect via wifi or USB (through activesync) and have 100% control over the phone from your mouse and keyboard. It was great, perfect and enabled no need to ever pickup my phone through my work day.
Continuum blows compared to this.
Do you think we will ever get an ability to RDC to our phone and do this full feature support?
No, SMS through Cortana, via my PC is not what I am talking about, and that sounds ridiculous as well.
You can connect a mouse and keyboard to your phone using USB OTG and Bluetooth. Is that what you're talking about?
Sort of. In the past, and currently on Android or on iphone via jailbreak, you can remotely control your phone through a PC. This gives a person the ability to continue to use the same mouse and keyboard as their desktop, answer calls and reply to texts, etc. I understand Continuum was never intentioned to do this.

This tool do at least what you want via usb. Wifi hopefully follow soon. Continuum is a function which is completely different from your needs. It has great options.
I'm pretty sure that continuum works with wired mouses and keyboards as well as wireless ones. The wired ones require the continuum dock, but it's free right now before sometime in january with a lumia 950 xl.
I use continuum with a 12€ usb c to hdmi adapter and a BT Keyboard with touchpad integrated and it works pretty good. Also the hdmi adapter is very small. This package is 40 euros good invested money.
Wait. With Continuum you are not using a PC at all?
Its to give you basic PC OnTheGo features.

With redstone (Anniverdary Update) you can control your phone from your pc, if you have a touch screen (for example, using a Surface Pro) you can use the touch screen connecting your usb cable.
Sold my dock to cash generator lol, £15, bloody gimmick rubbish.
With Anniversary Update you can use the Connect app thru wireless to connect to your phone ( Actually you your phone to the PC) and control it with the Keyboard and mouse of the PC. If you don't want the continuum feature you just have to go in the display setting/advance and select to mirror screen.

I too miss the functionality offered by MyMobiler. It is available on Android but not W10m.
