Swyped from Eva running Myn's RLS4!

updated thanks

Here is the new Market if you want.. Flash in Recovery

Thanks. Never got around to trying to force it.
The "panning" or "swivel" like functions with the maps in sweet, and the 3D rendering is way cool though some areas obviously don't have it ... at least yet. And I did spot patch of tiles ...
I love the idea of storing offline with Maps ... and as mentioned, possibly a legitimate portion of a states worth? That's crazy. And awesome.

Love this update whooot

So very much faster and smoother. Fantastic update.

Bo, my little state in not in the 3D mapping yet...

How are u getting into 3d mode? I installed the update and its buggin me out.

You gotta be in a 3d city. Use 2 fingers to tilt the screen down.

So if i put an adress in for a 3d city and i click on that adress and it brings me into streetview mode can i go into 3d?

Nm got it. Pretty bad ass.

Very cool stuff

This is pretty sweet I have to say

street view is what i would consider street view, you can however look at things in standard map view and see building elevations etc. 808 works

Cool! I don't use maps much, but it is pretty cool to cruise around a city in 3d!

Compass
I just bought the Evo and also just upgraded Google maps. Is there a digital compass in the Evo and if so is there a way to turn on the feature where the maps rotate to the direction your looking at like in the youtube video google released.

same except in my house
route 7 runs past my street
on my street i dont have any but on route 7 i have signal its weird
In Clarendon and Courthouse neighborhoods of Arlington I get about 2mbps...
Not particularly spectacular, but the high speeds and faster phone makes it way faster than my iPhone 3G.
Virginia has 4G before Colorado? What is wrong with this picture.............
I live in herndon and I get 1 to2 bars averaging 2+ mbps not spectacular but faster then ATT.

The signal strength is really just your strength to the tower, not your connection to the internet, just FYI I have had higher speeds with 1-2 bars than with a full signal. Anyway there are some spots in Houston, TX near where I work that I can get ~8-10Mbps down on, but I usually average about half that. Here are some pics, also btw a download test is a bit more accurate than those "speed tests" they can lie to you sometimes.

Yup. Northern VA, Richmond, Hampton Roads >>>> Colorado . We don't have any 4G here in Hampton Roads that I know of yet (no Evo til Monday), but there is a new Clearwire antenna/tower near my girlfriends house. I hope there are many more of those to come and soon.
I want them to put one in in Springfield. That's where my office is and 4G would be awesome!

There's definitely 4G at Franconia Springfield Metro Station in Virginia...and at the Telegraph Road Gate to Fort Belvoir...

Apparently there are two antennas live in downtown Denver and others aren't live but have been spotted (including on the Sprint call center in the tech center) so its coming here too very shortly.

That's good to hear. I wish Sprint would give us a real roadmap of their 4G rollout. There's no point in hiding it when people know the towers are there and are getting 4G signals.

I have been able to get WiMAX in Manassas on 234 near the Barnes and Noble. Also, just up the road in Centreville at 66 & 28. Good thing too because in both or those areas the 3G service is terrible. This is one main reason holding me back from upgrading to the Evo LTE or the Galaxy SIII since I will no longer have 4G.

4g cupertino, ca -> 7512kpbs

I did a "speedtest" and reached 7512kbps. Hope they cover the whole bay area soon.

ok...........
Sunnyvale... 8309 mbps I'm with u my boy. Waiting for bay to be covered....
Seems like a tower is on valco mall... or the sprint store on Lawrence ....
that's the "innovation network", which is basically a freebie so that the bigtime nerds can play with 4g, but it's the only thing running near the bay area for now.
SF people might be very happy by the end of the year, though.
Whatever it is.... it seems to be growing. Notice much more coverage heading toward San Jose... can't wait for my house to be covered....
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee san francisco
sweet. I'm a Cupertino humanoid.
Except at my house (near MV High) when I active 4G is just sits in scanning mode. I'm getting the expected crappy 3G down/ up (of less than 1mbps each way)
Ohhhhh, the irony

Most likely they wanted to start in an area of lower population density for 4g devices then converge towards san francisco, kinda like wading across the shallow end before trying the deep end.
Yeah, the towers are definitely going up weekly in the bay, and we'll have full service by October/November/December at the latest.

I got a full 4G signal driving from Oakland to Hayward on the 880 last week. I think it's been there for a while, but since I live in SF, it doesn't really help me much.
yeah, if you check out the map of 4g coverage youll see that the bay is pretty well covered along the major highways (880 and 101) on both sides of the bay. As far as fremont goes we have it inside the city in pockets, mostly near offramps of 880. So its coming, but its neither strong nor complete as far as coverage here in fremont goes.
And as far as where the map is, i forget. Google sprint 4g map or some such im sure youll be able to find it.
I get pretty solid 4G in downtown mountain view, and in Santa Clara it's pretty good... I have to step outside to get it at home, though.
I'm just hoping that this is the initial phase, and by the time 4g is official the coverage will be a lot more complete.
I get it in Mt. View and Walnut Creek.
supposedly there is 4G in Union Square, but that's it so far.

This is not true. I have scoured our great city for any lapse of 4G and so far, there is nothing. Sensorly agrees.

yeah tell me about it. isn't SF on the list for the end of this year with regards to 4G availability?
i work in sunnyvale, just off of 101 and lawrence, and i catch between 1-3 bars of 4G. it could be the signal that seemingly travels up and down 101, as i'm only 1/4 mile away from the highway, if that.

4G in South Bay

I live in Campbell and been getting at least 1 bar of 4G consistently. Not a good signal but at least I'm getting something. Getting full 4G coverage in Cupertino and Santa Clara. My friend's a store manager at Sprint and told me they're launching 4G officially in October. Hope this is a good news for some of you. Thought I should share.
sent from my EVO
There's no way they're launching in San Francisco by next month. There's no signal anywhere even for testing. Maybe the san jose market will launch next month but san francisco will definitely take a while to launch.
Because, I'm pretty sure, all 4G launches are preceded by at least some sort of test signals... Which we have nothing in SF.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully they will. It would be silly for Sprint if they don't launch it in frisco considering the huge market.

Yeah, I work a lot in Palo Alto, and the whole downtown has the Clear Innovation network live, and there is some decent speeds. The other day while going on 101 South near Capitol Expwy exit in San Jose, I got over 7mbps in my car, while driving. That was epic.

wow that's awesome! i live a mile away from that area, i'm going to have to test it out. where i work near 101 and lawrence i can get 3.8-4.5 depending on if i have 1 or 2 bars.
I have managed to get 8Mbps in downtown San Jose. Covers the area past the Pavillion and up to the airport. Downtown has the best speeds though.
Just last weekend i got ~9Mbps near Walmart, Mountain View. Haven't got any 4G signal in palo alto area.

i'm probably being too optimistic, but i hope there's a signal inside the arena! sharks season coming up soon, so i'll be in there before long.

San Diego 4g...testing? 03/30/2011

I live in the South Park area in San Diego. I am getting intermittent 4g access on my evo. I would think 4g is on the way for SD...finally!!
I think clear has two towers up in the San Diego area.
Check out http://www.clear.com/coverage and zoom in on SD
after reading this i tried connecting to 4g... the clear coverage map didnt show coverage in my area but i was able to connect... granted it was poor signal but my speed down was 1.9MB and up was still crap .95KB
To mayate, out of curiosity, where abouts in the SD area are you located?
Man, I hope so. I live right downtown though, so don't know how great of coverage I would get with all these huge buildings around. From the looks of the Clear map, I need to move over by San Diego State...
Edit: Turned on WiMax and let it scan for a couple minutes, but got nothing. Hopefully they fully kick it in soon.
i noticed late last night i didnt have any 3g in chula vista. maybe there are setting them up?
I work in the Mission Valley area and I'm not getting anything. I live in Mission Hills and I'll try it there too but I would be really surprised if I got anything.
I bet that SD would be a tough area to cover simply because of all the hills but who knows.

If you look at the clear map...Mission Valley has a tiny bit of coverage, but not much. The SDSU area is absolutely saturated, and getting over towards La Mesa has quite a bit of coverage too. Hopefully they expand the rollout, although I doubt downtown will ever have great 4G coverage.
