[Q] Problems with my new router... - Epic 4G General

I recently upgraded my wireless router and now my Epic doesn't seem to be able to get data through wifi. I got an inexpensive 802.11n router to take advantage of the Epic's 802.11n capability. It was working fine with my 802.11g router with the same security and network settings. I even tried assigning it a static ip address on the network to make sure it wasn't an ip address conflict.
The browser just hangs and gives me an error page. All of my other devices (laptops, PS3) work fine. Can anyone help me?

Unfamiliar with router
Hey.
I am not familir with the router but there should be some way to confirm connectivity.
Dl terminal from the market and ping the router internal ip. If successful, ping google and router external ip. This should help. If ip's succeed and google fails, get the ip for google and try that to ensure dns is working right.
Hope this helps

I have a Netgear N Rrouter. My Epic would find the signal take the WPA password and then, dissconnect. I tried deleting WPA and it connects....still a problem with downloading almost anything/ Sprint has replaced my phone twice as they have no idea why...even advance tech. I'm on my third and still no wifi at home.

Good point. If you drop security does it work? Also is n stil draft version? If so you could be dealing with cross vendor implementation compatibily.

Are you sure you got the SMCWBR14S-N4 router? According to the page you linked to, that router is not Wi-Fi 802.11n certified. Notice the page only shows the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi logo.

I notice the SMCWBR14S-N3 router at http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=viewProduct&localeCode=EN_USA&cid=5&scid=118&pid=1693 is 802.11n certified and shows the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n logo.
BTW, all Wi-Fi 802.11n draft equipment was automatically certified as Wi-Fi 802.11n final. There should not be compatibility issues with 802.11n Draft if it is Wi-Fi certified.
There was some older equipment sold before the certification program that could cause issues, though.
Yes, I work supporting Wi-Fi equipment for my employer.

Yes, I'm sure it is the N4. What does it mean that it is not certified?

When I ping the router I get destination unreachable even though my wifi status shows connected.
With all security off the ping gets results.
I notice some odd stuff in the router's log about invalid keys:

I've tried WPA2-PSK (AES) and WPA2-PSK (TKIP) and neither has worked. I could have sworn that my old router was using WPA2 with no issues.

So it seems like you are narrowing the foc,us of your issue. The guy who reported about the lack of cert may be onto something. I use wpa2 on my g router all the time.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Does the new router use the same name as the old one? Try removing the access point then adding it back. Or just change the name of the new access point.

When I ping the router I get destination unreachable even though my wifi status shows connected.
With all security off the ping gets results.
I notice some odd stuff in the router's log about invalid keys:

I notice you are using WPA2 & TKIP. TKIP is not supported for 802.11n & the Wi-Fi alliance will deny certification of a vendor supports this.
According to a wireless network expert at http://airheads.arubanetworks.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?p=467 there was initially some confusion about TKIP support for 802.11n. He states that a router cannot support TKIP for 802.11n & be certified.
TKIP was initially developed for WPA since is was more secure than WEP and did not require the new hardware for AES. WPA2-TKIP was to allow a business to migrate from WPA-TKIP to WPA2-AES.
It appears that you may need to set your router to WPA2-AES only (no TKIP). I would have your phone "forget" the SSID & start again after the router has been reconfigured. It would not hurt to reboot the router & verify the new settings too.
Sorry I forgot this detail when I replied earlier.
Certification provides a baseline for compatibility across vendors. Any certified devices should work together without major problems.

I expect you may have been connecting, but not ao 802.11n speeds. After looking further, I noticed this in your logs:
MCWBR14S-N4 user.err syslog: ERRO: MC-Router API already in use; Errno(125): Address already in use
Perhaps your phone was trying to use an ip address that was already used by another device on the network.
I noticed it got information for two DNS servers (68.87.85.102 & 68.87.69.150) so it likely got *some* information from the router.

Try this. Its work perfect for me!

Neither his router nor his epic should have a Windows registry key to edit.
It works perfectly for you on what Kaigamo?

XDA+GPRS+FREEBSD

Anyone tried to use the wmodem function through serial or irda with FreeBSD and PPP?
I connected succesfully to my GPRS in windows, but now I want my freebsd machine to get online with my xda. I tried following some instructions on http://www.freebsd.cz/listserv/archive/users-l/2004-July/010255.html, but this did not work. Anyone else has experience with it?

As you can see, my phone does not react to the AT command. I then connected manually to the phone with the 'cu' command, and AT or ATZ all gave a 0 as reply. (whichs means he does not understand the command).
I captured a session of Windows making a GPRS connection, and i noticed they also used the AT command? Anyone has an idea?
Ok, for who wants to know this:
first use the ATE0V1 command, and then the rest of your AT commands to dial into GPRS. Then this will work like a charm.

WM5storage and the trinity

Hi,
Since I use Linux on all my primary workstations, I wanted to use WM5orage to export my sdcard in the trinity as an external disk. The program starts fine and the computer also recognizes it. There does however seem to be a problem because the computer starts complaining about I/O error and never succeeds in accessing the drive.
for the interested, this is what my log shows:

anyone that has gotten this to work correctly ?
found solution
Just to reply to my own post, but I found the solution.
I just had to turn off the advanced USB network functionality off in the usb to pc connection settings. now it works perfectly
In Hermes you need to do this before using WM5Torage:
Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC and disable "advanced USB functions"
Try to see if it's the same on Trinity.

Nice Trick! It works!
BTW I had to change some settings in Pocket Controller (It made the sugestions itself) but everything is working now.
Gracias Pof.
Something is not right. I click Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC but then the screen flashes once but nothing happens. Any ideas?
Never mind... got it. WisBar Advance was interfering with it and as soon as I shut WisBar down then I could get into the setting.
sorry I'm a bit slow,
On my i-Mate Jam, i used the Card Export (which allows you to let your pc see your ppc as a usb-stick)
But can i do this with the trinity without Card Export?
(cuz it doesn't matter if i enable of disable the setting above it still starts up Active Sync)

Yes, WM5Storage will work on the trinity if you follow the steps above. I was having problem until I did the same. Now it works flawlessly and best of all WM5Storage is free!
card export works too with this trick.
Card export II
hmm I'm having a problem with card export and wm5storage.
Changing the advanced USB functions doesnt help. With wm5storage I was getting an f1 error..sorry cant remember the exact error message.
Card export II ver 2.20 wasnt working either
Just now I tried the latest release of Card export ver 3.00 and im getting error cant connect to driver interface.
You guys actually got either wm5storage or Card Export to work on ya trinity's? cause im having no end of trouble with it and really miss the feature since upgrading from my Magician, because we can't install active sync on my University computers.

ROM 1.23.707.6 DOPODASIA WWE GPS
Radio 1.35.00.11

Thanks guys! got my trinity this week and I was very disappointed when WM5torage wouldn't work, its one of my most used programs!
thanks perfectly working fine!
i thought schaps rom with wm5torage is useless!
up for you bro!

Hello,
my p3600i (and previously had a p3600) doesn't work using wm5torage. I'm running tnyynt's wm6.1 rom, when i go to "Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC", i see "Enable advanced network functionality". is this the same thing you guys are referring to? i unchecked this but no luck.
wm5torage version i'm trying to use is 1.8, i also tried 1.7 before but that doesn't work either. my laptop just don't see my card. I used a 8gb microsd with a mini-sd adaptor and also a 4 gb mini-sd, both didn't work.
hopefully someone can help me out.
thanks!

[Q] VPN on NAND Android

Good morning,
have installed on my HD2 Android (MDJ 2.2) in the NAND. Now I want to create VPN.
OpenVPN settings downloaded. Superuser downloaded.
Linkages of the ifconfig and route to / system / bin / ifconfig to / system / xbins / bb / ifconfig
created.
OpenVPN binary is / system / xbins / openvpn
OpenVPN Settings settings: insmod = / system / lib / modules / tun.ko
Now I start a terminal session and run VPN:
# Openvpn - config /sdcard/openvpn/config.conf > /sdcard/openvpn/debug.txt
debug.txt file in the route and all the tun0 interface are created successfully.

My understanding is that the tun-module is not used / loaded.
Checking on the device with lsmod, I get this output:
[email protected]:/ $ lsmod
Si4709_driver 17043 0 - Live 0xbf015000
j4fs 65970 1 - Live 0xbf000000 (P)
Is there a known problem or bug with tun-module with CM9?
I thought tun is not integrated in the kernel?
If this is wrong or simply not working, I assume I have to install a tun.ko on the device in /system/lib/modules. Where can I get this file?
Or is it advised to install another kernel?
If yes, which kernel is recommended?
THX
