GT-I9000T Black screen after OCLF 2.0 - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello guys,
I got a GT-I9000T.
I tried z4root to temporary root my android, then I proceed to install OCLF 2.0 to remove the lag, but after I restarted the android it didn't come back again.
I was able to turn it on but it were stuck after the samsung introduction video.
Just a black screen and no way to do anything.
I tried to press UP, HOME and POWER to get into the recovery mode but it didn't work, so I almost had a brick.
Lookin over the internet I found a small .bat file that I ran with the android connected using the usb cable and I was able to run the factory reset.
Finally I think I got my cel to normal, but I dont know if there are still a few "orphan files" because of the z4root and oclf 2.0.
Do do you guys have any ideas how I can know if there are any files from z4root or oclf 2.0 on my phone? I did a factory reset but I think some files are hanging in there.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,i had the same problem twice, the first i got cuz Lag fix should not be done with temporary root,as you lose root when it has to reboot.Second time i had it from unknow error...At both time i did factory reset and the application were gone, but some files where still in the system. So it would be good to get a foul time answer from someone.

Good to know that, how is your phone now? were you able to apply the oclf 2.0 successfully after that?
Are you running 2.1 Eclair or 2.2 Froyo?
Thanks

The first time i had to make factory reset and everything was good.the second tme i did factory reset and nothing happend. So i downloades 2.2.1 and flashed it.its fine now, faster than ever, works pretty good, but noticed that i have far less apps in samsung apps...and battery is going maybe 20-30% faster than it should. But 2.2.1 is a hell of a smooth and fast...i totally recomend it to anyone. All y problem is now how to update trough kies...well i guess i will not...

Ok good to know that but I will wait 6 months until my android's warranty expires in order to update it.
Were you able to install oclf 2.0 successfully on eclair 2.1?

You need to root to aply any lag fix.and i think this stops the warranty anyway.yes i aplyed it with no problem on 2,1.but i forgot to reverse it back when i updated from kies so this bricked my phone thank god i had odin.

Mu Samsung IS a brick...
What .bin file did you fire up?
I´ve searched but haven´t found anything.
I have the same problem... rooted with z4root, the temporary root, run OCLF which rebooted the phone, and now I´m stucked .
Thanks!
Matt

freddy_rv,
I have the same problem you had... temporary root + OCLF, and I cannot enter recovery mode.
Please, can you tell me where are the instructions (and the .bat file) you used to recover?
Thank you very much,

Please HELP Cant Unroot!

Used the 1 click method to root the Vibrant, overclocked it, and did the lag fix. Was getting horrible distortion when on calls, using the Vibrant 2.1 Vanilla ROM, so I decided to 1 click unroot. For some reason upadate.zip was not on my SD but on phone HD so the unroot was unsuccessfull. Now Im stuck with the root, recovery mode allows me to select reinstal packages - nothing happens - and I'm back to the same rom/root - once phone reboots. I even put the update.zip back on the sd - but phone is not recognizing it or installing it for some reason. I somehow lost superuser as well. Please help me get back to unroot - if its possible!
Thanks
i'm a noob here too. but this happened to me before (the pc doesnt recgnze the sd card or phone storage. )
just place in one of the drive that PC recognize and then use eStrong or some file manager to copy & paste it... hope this help..
Dropbox is a nice tool too.. figure it out.. it's really useful
I will definitely try that! Thanks. I tried downloading/installing Titanium Backup - as I previously backed up apps - it asked for Busy Box, which disappeared! I downloaded busy Box - it said my phone was not rooted! WTF! It looks rooted - just like Vanilla ROM - defiantly not like stock, when I bought it. I just hope I didnt mess it up. After i initially "1 click" unrooted - I thought it had worked, I restored phone to factory settings - this might also be causing my predicament! I just cant get passed the , reinstall packages, in the boot menu, like before - phone reboots itself right away, after partially/or not at all installing the update.zip from SD!
I think I may need a manual way of getting unrooted/ back to stock!
Please help! Phone works fine otherwise - just looks like the Vanila Rom and root, without any of the benefits!
boot into download mode and flash back to stock using ODIN if you look around you should be able to find some tutorials for it. You'll need to have the android SDK and samsung's drivers installed on your PC though
OK, thanks - sounds like I have to reroot my Vibrant, since it has a lot of the root stuff missing afyter I accidently reset to factory settings while rooted! After I root Ill just have to unroot, right!
Ill look for tutorials, thanks!

Phone not functioning after update

I hope that someone can help me with this serious issue:
Last night I tried to update my prone with the new software. Halfway the installation I got the triangulare shape on my screen which obviously meant that something was wrong.
I rebooted and tried again but with the same results.
After this I decided that I wanted to reset my phone to the factory setting and start again. After the reset I bumped in to the following problems:
I can't place any widget on my screen any more. When I select them nothing happens.
After the reset some thing wheren't fully reset, like the background/wallpaper.
Is there any possibility to reset the phone a different way, that everything resets?
Now my phone only functions for 50%....
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Does anyone have a solution?
if you don't have root, and its 1.72 now, you can try install the 1.72 RUU
look up some guides in the development forum on how to do it
otherwise if you are still in 1.32 you can install the 1.32 RUU
I haven't rooted. Only temp rooted several times.
But I can't install the newest update because it will give me an error.
Factory reset won't work, because some setting still remain as they where, like my background.
And after a start-up the phone will load for like 1,5 hours....

There are 2 ways
1. Install the NEW update with this http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4b...140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe <- safe and clean BUT YOU CANNOT ROOT AFTER or install any custom things.
or
2. install the same rom you(it`s like a factory reset) have NOW with this http://xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/RUU_A....140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe <-safe and clean and you will be able to root but this is the ROM you have now not the update.
Tnx! I will try this weekend!
I'm not really know with the way android works.
But the .exe files, I need to install them on my pc and copy and paste them on my phone? Is that it?
(I'm at my work now, so I can't figure it out here...)
you download the .exe, connect the phone with the USB cable(charge only) and you just run the .exe from the PC, you will see instructions.

I tried to ROOT 1.72.405.3, now my phone is slow :'( SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!

I've got 1.72.405.3 Android 2.2.1 on my HTC Desire HD. I made a mistake by deciding to ROOT it :'( Went thru the following steps:
1) I dloaded SuperOneClick 1.55, turned on USB Debugging, turned off access to SD card then clicked on ROOT. It kept getting stuck at "Waiting for Phone to Respond...." So I dc'ed the USB cable & then my phone hanged entirely & I got really scared So then I removed the battery & turned it on again. But it was running rather slowly & was lagging quite a bit.
2) So then I read that SuperOneClick kept giving the "Waiting for phone to respond" msg cuz it needed its proper adb usb drivers. So then I went thru the whole process of trying to dload the Android ADB USB Driver. I dloaded Android SDK, then opened its console & tried to dload the driver from the options given. I searched & I searched but I don't knw wot the hell I was doing wrong bcoz I cudn't find the Android ADB driver ! I tried PDANet & all the other available choices from different websites such as this one (XDA Developers) & theunlocker.com. I even accessed the Android SDK folder thru cmd prompt but it wasn't showing any SERIAL.
3) so then I realized rooting was near to impossible at the moment. But my phone was lagging bigtime bcoz of the crap I had just made it go thru ! I tried fiddling with USB Debugging & everything but NO SUCCESS. It's not speedy & fluid like before. So I accessed FACTORY SETTINGS & reset my phone. It seemed to b fine after the reset but was still not as fluid as before (before I tried to ROOT it). But stubborn that I am, I then dloaded VISIONARY+ & made one last attempt at ROOTING my phone. I clicked on TEMP ROOT & save an image. But it got stuck at the screen where it says "ROOTING."
4) After finally accepting defeat, I wanted to remove ALL traces of any kind of rooting so I ran FACTORY RESET once more. This time after being reset, my phone seemed more fluid but still NOT like it originally was before the all ROOTING. I installed Go Launcher which itself is quite speedy but the phone still doesn't feel fluid & speedy like it originally was.... :'(
PLZ HELP ME !!!!!!!! WHAT DO I DO ?!?!?!
Download 1.72 RUU from DHD android development forum, posted by football, then just run that
Meaning I shud dload it, put it on the root of my SD card & then just run it thru ASTRO ? That's it ? Anything I shud b looking out for ??? Is it possible for me to downgrade the firmware & then root it & then install this 1.75.405.3 firmware over it whilst keeping my root ???
Downgrade is not possible. The RUU.exe is PC executable file, just run it and it will guide you through the process.
since when did SuperOneClick work for the DHD?
It does not.
didnt we already warned u 2 days ago, in your other thread, that since ur phone is already on 1.72, u cant root it?
Why did u still attempt to root it?

I don´t see how this is helping
:'( I cudn't help it... I messed up, I accept that :'( I also want root
Can't you boot into boot loader and wipe from there n u r back to stock again?
I've had the same since I tried it without knowing.
What you do is the following;
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Take the battery out, leave it alone for 10min.
3. Put the battery back in, and start it up again and wait 30min.
if I'm right, you wont have any lag troubles no more.
Actually, I dloaded 1.72.405.3 RUU by football as directed by jkoljo Then I flashed my DHD & voila everything was superb. But I still want roooooooooooot :'( Ahhhhhh one day..........

[Q] Help PLEASE!!

Okay first of all, let me start by saying this is my first post and I AM a noob, so be patient.
Okay, my problem is that I can't root my Sprint Samsung Intercept. I've tried SuperOneClick, Z4Root, Universal Androot, and some other one. NOTHING has worked. The SuperOneClick somewhat worked, it installed SuperUser but when I downloaded apps that require a root, they said my device isn't rooted.
I'm with Sprint and running 2.2.1.
Pease help because this is driving me crazy!!
i dont know how this stuff works either but my brother has that phone. it could be your usb isn't reading. or rather, your computer isn't recognizing the device. google samsung intercept usb and you'll see a lot of issues. this may not be your problem but its better to tell you just in case. so far for his cell phone, because he wants to tether it to his computer, so far nothing works. not downloading the right drivers. loading without debugging. mounting the sd card. thats one big solution that hasn't worked. i have high hopes for this other fix, to load samsung pc studio. New_PC_Studio_1.4.0.IL2_4.exe is the file. you can google and find it.
this site has some info. if it works and i remember to, ill repost and let you know.
en.kioskea (take out space, insert a dot)net/forum/affich-240949-samsung-sgh-f480-usb-driver-problem
hope this helps. if not then good luck. and heck if anyone else knows why exactly it does this and a real fix other than the whole disable usb debugger issue. then let me know. i even thought about trying to load the sdk for android to see if that would create some sort of connection with the phone and computer. thanks and take care
hope this helps
sdx-developers is the best place for intercept developement
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/int...ructions-on-rooting-spring-samsung-intercept/
follow the first step to get SWUpgrade setup (the rest is instructions for eclaire [pretty sure])
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/int...-2-2-(easy-root-via-swupgrade)-(battery-mod)/
flash this kernal with SWUpgrade and youll be rooted.
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/int...important-features-working!)-(updated-11311)/
i assume youll be wanting a recovery as well i recommend cm01 get the tar and flash it just like the kernal
intercept doesnt have many custom roms but there is tons of mods you can apply to the stock rom
I tried SWUpgrade and I bricked my last phone but it didn't matter because it was already defective.
Sent from my SPH-M910 using XDA App
did you patch SWUpgrade? delete everything in the binary folder except the file you were trying to flash?
ive never had a problem with it. it even saved me from quite a few softbricks in the short time ive had my intercept.
I did everything the videos and forums said to do. When I did that I got a different kernal but I couldn't get any service, my phone would restart every 2-5 minutes, and it would randomly vibrate. Until I got another one. I finally got SuperOneClick to get passed the "waiting for device" stage and I supposedy rooted my phone, when I tried to install apps that required root access they said my device is not rooted.

Acer 500a Rooted and unable to update

I have an Acer 500a I just bought off carigslist. Initially I thought it would be fine but then I realized I was inheriting someone elses problems. I hope someone may be able to help.
Within the first few hours I was noticing google Play crashed a number of times and struggled to update from Market. Somehow the update went through but now there is a system update that won't go through. I'm able to down load it and when i restart the computer to complete installation the screen goes black and says: booting recovery kernel in the corner. I then see a picture of an android and a load bar which after 2-4 seconds the android is on his back and an exclaimation mark is coming out of his belly.
My android version is 3.2
Kernel version
2.6.36.3+
Build number
Acer_a500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2
I'm pretty sure its rooted and i think that might be why its not playing nice with google market and system updates. I called the old owner and explained the problem and he just said he had it rooted and he thought he unrooted it. There is an ap called superuser in aps. (although if it were rooted would'nt I be able to uninstal some of thecrap software it comes with like GOLF HD? -- it won't let me).
The system update is for Acer_a500_7.014.01_COM_GEN2 8.88mb
My problem is all of the force closes I'm getting and the inability to update the system. Any thoughts? I don't have a usb cord to connect it to a desktop either =(
I am a bit out of practice, but...
Should be pretty simple to fix. From what I am seeing, you are running a stock rom. Just because the superuser.apk is installed on the system does not mean it is rooted, but it probably is.
Hit the market, grab "Root Checker" - simple tiny program to let you know for sure if your tab is rooted or not.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=burrows.apps.rootchecker&hl=en
From what I understand - automatic system updates will fail when trying to apply them to a rooted or modded system. Probably why you cannot auto-update.
My advice at this point would be to:
1) Since you just bought it, just do a factory wipe on it. That will remove all the stuff the prior owner had running on it and will result in a unrooted tab that should be able to get auto updates without a problem.
2) Un-Root it. Once the tablet is unrooted, the system should update without any issue.
As for your Play Store issues - I have never heard of or personally seen any issues caused with installing apps from the store on a rooted device. I have seen a few apps that will refuse to run on a rooted device - but that does not sound like your problem.
I would go with option 1 - just factory wipe the thing. Prior owner may have made tons of changes to the OS that we will never know about, and may have handed you a unstable system. Start fresh. Wipe it out.
Hope this helps you out! Let me know if I can answer any questions.
k thank you so much for the quick reply! I downloaded the root checker and it Is rooted. I did a factory wipe as found in the settings privacy tab when I bought it. That factory reset did not unroot and only cleaned out some of the aps on the device. Is there a better or more surefire way to unroot it? If I reset with the volume down key will it hard reset it?
Thank you for you help!
Draight
Okay.
I am about a year out of practice with my a500 - but from what I am think, if a factory reset still results in a rooted device - the prior user installed a stock ROM that comes pre-rooted.
I highly doubt being rooted is causing the issues you are running into.
At this point if you just want to get back to stock you can probably just install the Acer Recovery Manager from the market and use it to reflash a stock unrooted ROM. Or I see a few guides about how to manually restore back to stock over in the dev section for the a500.
Others will correct me if I am wrong, but I think Acer Recovery Manager should take care of your problem.
Hope this helps!
(Edit: Or you can just download the official stock 4.x rom (ICS) from the dev section and flash that. 3.2 is pretty slow and wonky in my experience, you should be able to just download a 4.x ROM and flash, since you are rooted. Again, I am way out of practice. Don't do anything before reading up!)
(Edit again: I think I was making this harder then needs be. Just flash any stock 3.2 unrooted ROM, done. After you do that the automatic on the air update should kick in for you and update you to ICS)
Thanks for taking the time to work with me on this. I downloaded the program you suggested and tried to use a stock rom. When i went to reboot I had a picture of an android looking up at an exclaimation mark. It was froze like that until I restarted it. Now its back to the way it was, rooted and unupdatable.
I'm probably going to try to just wipe it all over but do i need to plug it into my computer somehow? I dont have a usb connector for the tablet, just the wall charger plugin. can i just download a rom and use the utility to try install it? when I reboot it am I supposed to be pressing the volume button?
I've read a few other forums but usually they sound pretty intense...

Hmmm..
Try the thread I linked two in my second edit of my last post. You just need to grab the stock and unrooted 3.2 - put it on a MicroSD card as update.zip - then reboot with vol rocker and power switch to get the system to flash the update.
That *should* work just fine.
(Edit: Forgot the link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839313 - there you go)
Thankw, I am going to try it after readingna bit more. Do I need to have clockworkmod installed for all of this?

Nope. Just snag the stock unrooted 3.2 ROM - place it in the root of the MicroSD card as update.zip
Power down.
Power up with VOL + and POWER key held at the same time (you can let the vol rocker go when you see text appear in the upper left corner)
Should be all you need to do. Worst case; it does not work and returns you back to where you are now. Worth a shot.
If that does not work, let me know so I can do a few mins of homework and help you further. Been a long time since I have changed ROMS or had any issues with my a500.
I have bricked it twice by not following directions all the way or just making simple mistakes, but from what I have found there is always a way to recover.
Just tried it. I copied the boot zip to sd card and renamed update.zip and reset..It looked like it was going to download after showing some text in the corner and then an exclamation mark appeared above the androids head... I left it and after a few.min it rebooted back

Hmmm. Odd.
Like I said, I am rather out of practice.
Someone more experienced them me: please help me point Draight in the right direction here?
Thanks for trying to help. =(
I wish that my tablet wasn't having such issues. I;m going to try to scramble around the forums and see if I can find some advice...If anyone has a suggestion please let me know.
Thanks again entropy,

Update:
So I've been tinkering around with it a bit more and I found a usb cord that plugs it into my computer. I keep finding boken links on this site so Im struggling to find an update I can use to flash to. I downloaded a different super user program which allowed me to temporarily unroot my device. I then restarted it and no root checker says its no rooted and I cannot find the superuser program. I think I have somewhat unrooted it -- but I think the real issue now is the recovery tool. I keep reseting it - hard reset, or factory reset and it wipes everything away but when i try to update it gets about 1/3 of the way up the bar then it stops with an '!' Mark above the droid. Im kind of annoyed at this point and hoping for some new links or some ideas on how to repair the recovery piece.

Go to the Dev section, and grad a couple of the ICS Update roms. You will see them listed for the a500. Make sure they are the FULL update roms. Should be about 3-400mb. These contain a FULL ICS Update Rom, and not a patch file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560
Then, go to the Themes and apps forum. You'll see a sticky that has the Acer Update Decrypter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869505
Now, unpack the decrypter, and select one of the ICS Updates. Then hit Start. Take a couple minutes, but you will have a duplicate file with the word "decrypted" added to it.
Wait, you are not done yet.
Using a program like 7zip, or even Winzip, open the decrypted file. DO NOT EXTRACT, just open it and pull the update.zip to your PC's desktop.
Copy that update.zip file to your Ext SD Card of the tablet. Don't be putting it in any folder, just copy it to the root of the card.
Now, you still ain't done.
With the tablet off. Press and hold Vol+ and then PWR. Hold them both untill you start to see text about installing blah blah blah, then release the buttons.
If it completes, and you can reboot into ICS, then you are good to go.
If something fails during installation, then decrypt the other update Rom file you downloaded, and do the same procedure. Usually one of the 2 or three should work for you.
Note these are for the a500, and not the a501.
One more thing. It's advisable you get your UID number before doing these things. You probably won't need it, but it's nice to have written down in case you need it in the future. Inf to get it is at;

Thanks! I am downloading a few of the FULL ICS roms:
*Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 : http://d-h.st/uAy
Acer_A500_1.031.00_PA_CUS1: http://d-h.st/idO
Acer_A500_1.041.00_WW_CUS1: http://d-h.st/Yt5

*Acer_A500_7.014.16_041.206.01_COM_GEN1: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_bk...hVc1RVcHc/edit
The I downloaded the ones ending with Gen1. Once they are downloaded I will continue with the instructions. Thank you so much for your help! I will post how it goes later tonight.
Draight
I just decrypted both:
*Acer_AV041_1.054.00_WW_GEN1:
*Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1
Both get get to the third bullet quickly and the bottom says DONE! It takes like 4 seconds. I don't think the Decryption key of $12 is working
[*] Opening file: Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip
[*] Decrypting using key $12
[*] Writing decrypted file: Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1_decrypted.zip
I try to extract something from the decrypted file and it says the file was not downloaded properly and I should try redownload it...it says its not a proper archive
wahoo!
So that worked! I down loaded the file Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1 and extracted the update. I palced the update on the sd card and booted with the power and sound volume pressed down. it went through the installation procedure and restarted twice before saying it was upgrading my aps and BOOM its got ICS and everything looks great. Thank you so much for your help and I hope that this paper trail is able to help someone in the future
My problem is that I'm on ICS and I'm rooted, but I just can't download a custom recovery. I've tried, and I haven't gotten anywhere
