Just a rumor (unsubstantiated) of 2011 Q1: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...huawei-s7-receive-froyo-2-2-1st-q-2011-a.html
Best wishes,

Telstra are saying that the T-Touch(re-branded S7) is meant to be getting 2.2 early next year.

Well let's hope so, I really wanna get rid of the limitation that you can only install apps to the 128Mb or something internal RAM ...

link2sd allow you to move your app to sd its in market for free

Froyo S7 at Mobile World Congress
news.softpedia.com/news/Huawei-Intros-the-Ideos-S7-Slim-Tablet-at-MWC-2011-184768.shtml
Looks like it has a different back plate (No stand)
At least we know 2.2 is out there....

Just hope they dont get distracted with the new version and forget all about our little model... they said 2.2 would come between Feb and March this year, well its the 16th of March and we're still waiting...

Now it's into April and still no 2.2. Makes me wonder about Huawei's sincerity regarding support.

With any luck they will forget Froyo and go straight to Gingerbread as an update for the T-Touch. Now that would be cool!

The cellpassion page has been updated. SG will get froyo!
There is an update on the site:
UPDATE 2: Samsung will update the Galaxy S to 2.2 from their manufacturing facility. No word on the timing but those new devices will run on Android 2.2. They are still working on how to upgrade current units that are running on Android 2.1.

Samsung not that stupid...this isn't their first Android phone. Spica had the ability just fine. Hack.....almost all their phones from the past 2 years can update firmware. They're not retarded to make the GS so special.

There are plenty of threads here and on modaco about downgrading...but my guess is as soon as it's available and people start installing it...it will only be a matter of HOURS before it's .pkg up for all different versions and markets.

It's starting out for Streaks bought UNLOCKED only...not sure if you unlocked it afterwards if that applies too.
Then upgrades for Streaks locked to various carriers (O2, ATT, Rogers, etc.) will become available beginning early Dec.

Q. Can I run the update, even if I don’t get the official notice, by copying the URL from someone else’s device?
A. No, the final link to download the 2.2 Froyo update will be non-functional unless the browsing session is initiated via the software update mechanism on the Streak device. This is because the software update application in the device communicates with the OTA update server to authenticate the update session. The link to the update is dynamically set to download the correct software package based on the device that is connecting to the update server. Please wait for the software update notice to display on the device itself, when your version of the software is ready for the upgrade. You can continue to check for updates manually by going to Menu->Settings->About device->System Updates which will connect to the update server and correctly check for an update.

anytime you can un-root.. and seriously, do you believe that samsung FW will be better than custom one ? look at the htc users. Htc prepares much better FW than samy and the users are flashing custom ROMs...

Does anyone know if its gonna be worldwide?
Does Kies detects the area I am or it´s by the phone firmware? I´m asking because I have a i5801 purchased in the US, but its the Singapore firmware and I live in Brazil
I haven´t tried to flash a Froyo ROM or anything like that... is it worth it? (I´d like to see how Froyo runs, but I haven´t been very encouraged by the problems reported on the froyo firmwares released so far), is it better to wait for the official one (and of course the custom ones later on)?

[NEWS] Gingerbread update announced for Galaxy series including Tab

http://www.samsunghub.com/2011/05/16/samsung-announces-android-2-3-update-for-its-galaxy-devices/
Guess it's on its way. I'm wondering how the update will roll out to Wifi only versions or the tablets that aren't currently using a carrier.
Today i got a message thru Kies that i could update my firmware to gingerbread (although the message gave a series of numbers and letters). I tried to update my Tab, but after downloading, the installation of the new firmware failed. Could that be because i have my Tab rooted? How do I solve this problem. Your help will be much appriciated.

Hopefully, Samsung will push it over WiFi... If not, the good people of XDA will inevitably provide a ROM on here. You will either get it in a timely manner or have to hold your balls and ROM it (if you haven't done it before). Even if you have, it can sometimes be a scary procedure.
Short answer... Yes. Long answer... Above.
hmm any word on how far the update is? is it still only italy that got it?
Dont really wanna use odin to update our 120 Galaxy tabs (or the 300 that we are getting in ~1 month time).

I use sipgate with the sipdroid app to push calls over VOIP. Works well enough for me. Can send and receive calls. I am only on WiFi so I imagine, it'd work that much better over the 3G network.
As far as a possible release date? No idea... Their words are that they'll start mid-May through Kies in Europe and it'll feather out. Since Sprint versions don't work with Kies, it may up to Sprint to push the updates here (which may take a long while) or if Samsung is really aggressive, maybe we'll see it through them.
Since Kies is the main avenue of pushing it, I wouldn't anticipate it soon. May be worth following the Honeycomb ROM (DONATE TO THIS CAUSE) and taking the time to flash it. Then brag that you have cheap Honeycomb Galaxy Tabs for sale in your store.

Hello guys!
I bought my Galaxy Note in France (I work there).
The PDA/PHONE/CSC are XXKKA/XXKK5/XXKK5.
Build info is Friday 11 Nov...
How is it possible to receive official updates (stock roms) without flashing?
Please do not start telling me to read guides and so on... I worked on Android platform and after this experience I am aware how preparing roms and custom stuff is obviously a great challenge, gives you great satisfaction, but makes the phone be more prone to crashes, memory leaks and so on.
Thank you in advance.

I'm sure you were joking but this actually does raise a point that people should take into consideration:
If the phone is bought from the UK but the firmware is German, then it will get German upgrades. If it's bought from amazon.de and has Chinese firmware then it will only get Asian upgrades.
It doesn't matter where you buy the phone from, it matters what country the firmware is directed at. I also own a UK note which has BRI as the sales code and I don't have any update even though I live in Finland.
how far is Germany from you , just drive there and see if you will get the update

Really funny... If it was only a matter of geographical location just a dns static route would fix the trouble of getting updates...
Please avoid useless posts.
