Color adjustments? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an app which has the ability to make simple screen adjustment? It would really nice to be able to control the contrast, gamma, etc... If not is there a reason why there isn't?

Any one?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

I would like to know this as well. I typically like to raise the contrast higher than the usual default settings for a lot of videos/pictures/displays.

Yeah it would be really nice to have something that could so this. I've searched and searched for a app to do this, but to no avail.

Bump. I am very curious about this.

I've been searching for something like this as well. I've got an i1pro ready and waiting to play

If something like this does exist the phone might need to be rooted to work. Why don't you try posting this in the General Android forum? Maybe you'll have better luck there... and report back here if you learn anything!

There is an app that can change the pixel density but I haven't seen anything to change/control gamma, contrast etc...

LCD Density

Did a quick search and didnt see it posted.
Changing it from 240 to 200 looks good on these like it did on the captivates. This is a sweet spot I feel for looks and without causing issues.

Smaller number means higher resolution. Make sure to use small increment changes when testing. its mostly a personal preference type thing. I think the Atrix screen looks great, much better overall than the Cap. Hold any two screens next to eachother and look at different images and you will see how different screens look better or worse depending on what your viewing. Me and my buddy had fun pitting my Atrix against his G2x just surfing though google images. Warmness softness sharpness density Screen type, many thing influence the image quality. In the end its up to your eye to decide what looks best to you.
LCD density does not work on my atrix it just reboots and stays the same

[Q] Blue tint on the screen

My Evo gets a blue tint when the sun hits the screen. I know his is a problem on the Epic 4G but has anybody ever experienced this on this Evo ?
It's the panel. Some of the EVO's have a display panel with a blue/purple-ish tint, I don't remember if it's the epson or nova but I have the affected one.
You can use CM's color correcting app to adjust the tint, I get lazy to re-do it on every flash but it works pretty good. Just wish it could adjust gamma.
I'm sorry I did not see the solution in you're reply. Where can I find the color correcting app?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
He did tell you, he said CM. i.e. Cyanogen Mod. CM7 RC2 has one i know for sure.
I can't seem to find it. Is it a option or a app ?
I think i found the app that you're talking about. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745248

No, he was referring to CM7-RC2 which has the controls built in. Not sure if that app will work for what you need.

Neither. It's a ROM.

I suggest you read up on these things. Read through ALL the stickies at the top of each Evo subforum.

LCD density

I'd like a bit more hi Res on my desktop and have heard u can change the density. Can anyone rwccomend a good setting or offer advice on this?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
You need to edit your build.prop found in /system.
Find the line,
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=
The default value on most ROMs is 240.
Anything lower will give the impression of a higher resolution.
Can u recommend a setting?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I usually run 220 on MIUI without any problems. And 190 on CM7.
Some apps don't scale to the new resolution.
Ok I thought adjusting this would make things smaller. But I see no visible difference
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
What ROM are you using?
It should make things smaller, It won't however give you more widget locations. You'd need to use LauncherPro for that.
Using leedroid 3.1.3
A friend has a hd2 and is set at 167 is it wise to go that low with dhd
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I've never gone below 180. Not through fear, just happy with how it looks.
167 may be a little low. You won't do any damage by trying.
I'm running 160 on CM without any problems whatsoever(but be aware that you have to disable compatibility mode in spare parts). If it doesn't look smaller, then you're not doing something right... How did you change the value?

Xoom Status Bar Brightness?

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

Nexus S Color Temp

Hi all,
I am a new nexus s owner, and from what I can gather Google changed the color temp with the 2.3.4 update. Is there any way to revert to the old temp with CM7? After playing with a GSII at an at&t store, the nexus s looks like complete crap, I really don't get why it was changed to begin with.
Thanks.

It was changed to be more accurate. Unfortunately bluer colors are associated with "more vibrant" and "brighter" even if they really aren't correct.
Quite a few custom Roms implement voodoo color or reverted. I couldn't stand the awful blue tint on everything, so it was a welcomed change.

Thanks for the reply. I went through looking at some of the kernels that said they support it. They all mentioned compatability up to 2.3.5 does anyone know of any kernels or anything that support vodoo on 2.3.6?

I recommend matr1x, it's my favorite kernel for the nexus s and will do what you are looking to do, but netarchy and trinity both are compatible with voodoo colors as well...there are others but those are mainly the ones which I have used.
Check out this thread for voodoo color settings which will probably be more to your liking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002090
The stock CM7 kernel from the latest nightlies supports voodoo. You just need the voodoo control app to make the adjustments.

That's not entirely correct. My screen was fine pre 2.3.4 and after it was far too blue. I'm well aware of the way manufacturers boost the blues to make their displays brighter and the change did that for my phone. Always hated it.

Well those are the warmth changes that were made kernel side. If you go back to the old threads I even linked into the commits for everyone who swore it was accidental on Google's side. The color pallette was made warmer, not cooler.
If your screen got cooler after the pallette was made warmer it sounds like something else is going on.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I know it wasn't accidental but I'm not the only one who felt it got significantly cooler. My guess is its just a manufacturing issue since there was the same issue on my wife's ns.

I have been using voodoo with the Matrix kernel so far and loving it, the color contrast is almost unreal, however...does anyone know of any work arounds for the green flash that happens when unlocking? Not a super huge deal, just kind of annoying.
If you are referring to the green screen when the phone screen is about to turn off in MIUI, settings, display, advanced mode under brightness, light levels, use custom, light level to dim( try different amounts) 26 worked for me.
