[Q] Easy way to disable or uninstall Dell Stage UI?

Is there an easy way to uninstall or just disable the Dell Stage UI? It BLOWS. I have an AT&T Unlocked Streak w/QDLTool Froyo 2.2. I like the basic OS, but this Stage thing is terrible. I tried looking through different threads, and the only thing I have seen so far is to flash something else.
It seems as though Dell Stage is an app, as I found it in the system file under apps.

After installing other launcher, next time you press home button it will ask which app to launch, select the launcher you would like, make sure you select the check box for default selection. You might need to do this for some other actions too, but once done the launcher will get executed from next time.
I have tried 3 or 4 other but din't find any better. Slidescreen looks good but not enough to replace.

Go with ADW Launcher EX. They just came out with the EX Edition. Its Really Really Nice. Then, download Home Switcher from the Market. Either way, once you set the different launcher as your default launcher, it will launch that one everytime.
Note: Be sure to delete everything off the Stage UI so theres no widgets or any icons on the screens. Then just keep all of the stuff added on our other launchers screen.

If you are rooted, you can use another launcher and delete Stage with Ti Backup. I used the "freeze" feature to make sure it was okay and it was fine for me.

Ah good. Just deleted mine. Wasn't sure I was able to delete it without side effects. I have frozen dell sync. Don't need it but not sure I have to keep that. Anyone know?

I have Titanium and almost deleted Stage but feared a side effect.

Yeah, im using ADW EX make sure you have another launcher set as the default and you you can delete stage with no problems. Im on 2.2 318 with Perf fix. But, back it up and freeze it first just to make sure.

ADW Launcher EX is superb (just like Compiz and Beryl on Ubuntu ) thanks for sujesting, I didnt know it was released.

loads of comments on the market place saying that Launcher Pro is better than ADW EX.
Anyone with experience of both launchers out there with a recommendation??

I think it's just personal preference. I prefer launcher pro plus. They are both good alternative launcher. Try them both then decide for yourself. You can use the free versions to get an idea.

Xoom Widgets

Can anyone know some useful/good widgets for the Xoom? Or how to make the Gmail/Browser favs bigger? Hate how it's so bunched up. Maybe I'm just stupid and missing something. >_<

I agree with you on the bookmarks widget. I wish I could place it in list mode. When in the browser, you can switch the bookmarks to list mode which makes it much easier to find things when you have many folders. The widget does not seem to have any options.

Use launcher pro, it can make the Widgets expandable.

How does launcher pro look on the Xoom?

I haven't been able to download LauncherPro from the market. Do you have to sideload it?

Adw launcher works also, I did sideload it though.

I hope they put more interactive widgets to utilize the honeycomb software. Has anyone gotten live wallpaper to work on the xoom yet.

Didn't even think of that. I use Launcher Pro on my Droid X religiously. Does it scale good on the Xoom? Or does it get rid of the 3D effects?

Sure, just press the + and go to Live Wallpaper.

[Q] apps re-arrange on re-boot

Hi everybody,
I know this is a noob question, but I'm getting tired of this... and maybe there is a easy fix.
Everytime I re-boot my phone or even when I connect my phone to my laptop via USB cable and connect the phone memory card as requested by PC companion, all the icons of the Apps installed on the SD card are "REARRANGED" i guess in a first in order... so If I have spent half an hour organizing my apps icons position, I have to do it everytime any of this 2 situation happens?
Is there anyway to prevent the apps (on SD card) icons to re-arrange in any situation???. I'm tired of re-arranging apps Even when my battery is empty and the phone is turned off I have to do it ARGH!
My phone is a R800a running 2.3.3 stock (out of box state... only updated via SEUS to 2.3.3)

Golauncher is what I use. It's very customizable, won't eat up your battery, and has a ton of themes, all for free.

You don't need to root in order to change the app launcher. About what programs you can use, Go Launcher is a good choice, and it has a suite of (separate) downloadable widgets and apps.

The popular launchers are Launcherpro free & paid (i use the free version of LP), Go launcher ex or ADW Launcher EX free & paid.
As Logseman has said with Go launcher you can get free widget addons. But with Launcher pro you have to get the piad version to use the LP widgets.
There are other lauchers such as Regina 3D Launcher, Zeam Launcher, Launcher 7 but the 3 above are the preferred choice for many and will solve your problem.

I bought the paid version of launcher pro plus, but since finding go launcher i use that i love the options/themes for go launcher, launcher pro plus has better widgets though, either way the stock launcher is crappy.

My Xperia Play does the same thing for apps that are stored on the micro sd card. I wish there was a workaround for the stock SE launcher.

the launcher is free, but there is some paid plugins like Go sms+ ect

ADW EX Updated!

ADW EX has been updated today with a lot of fixes and options for Tablets including having the dock on the bottom in landscape and many more! There are tons of fixes for Honeycomb tablets especially for 10" screens. If you are an ADW EX user, but found it too buggy before, it night be good for you now! You can also set the secondary dock as the default which has scrolling like launcher pro.

Yep... I had stopped using it, but this was a killer update. It is really great now.

Yup Anderweb always comes through. Excellent update. BTW what happened to the option of changing the dockbar background?

You can hide it albeit temporarily through launcher actions.

Log-in to the internet site with your browser, sign in with your username and password and then you can rate apps

im new to this, love the speed of the scrolling screen when i had a quick play. but looking for advice
i want a clean home screen with none of the + signs, adecent weather /time/date widget and app shortcuts same size as stock

How to change apperiance of main black dock? I can change only bar with 5 blank spots..not this bar for tablets.. Any ideas?

Ok, now that looks clean. I love not having those icons all over the screen. If this is from ADW, I'm tempted.

Only wish that we could put things all the way to the edge of the screen, with the dockbar. Can only do it without, and that's annoying too.

Is there a good way to set wallpapers with ADW? I keep getting a half black half wallpaper result.

Try the desktop visualizer app with stock launcher. I don't know of anyway to keep the quick settings with a custom launcher

I just installed the stock launcher available here on XDA and it has the quick settings and also the circle widget can be used with any rom// I'm at work so cant give you a link but its on here

well can i use it without rooting my phone?
I might just install a new launcher, whats best? Nova, GO or ADW?

It may be me misunderstanding. I'm thinking of using the stock launcher with a different rom,.You download the launcher just like any other app then click on ot to install it. Its on here in either the Razr M forum or the Android apps forum. I can't remember its been a while since i downloaded it.

I tried using apex and it was pretty laggy. Nova is a lot better so far but one out of maybe every 30 times I exit a app to go to the homescreen the motoblur stock launcher appears instead of nova until I go to a new screen. Kinda Annoying. Any idea how to fix?
Can I change the color of the status bar icons like the battery, signal strength and time? without root?

Well yeah nova IMO is a little smoother but apex has free gestures. And no idea about ur launcher problem never heard of that before sorry. And ugh the only way I know of to do it is metamorph which requires root. You can try super status bar. I Know it allows custom layout of items in the bar with a change of color per user preference but not sure on the icons. Try it out
