Hello all,
I know how many of you have been looking forward to another version of android on the Epic, so I'm here to let you know that Epic Donut is coming!!!
My rom will feature:
-based on android 1.6 donut
-No turn by turn navigation, so if you get lost, that's your problem!
-No JIT processing, because we don't want things going too fast
-Touchwiz ported from the Samsung Behold 2 (Awesome!)
-deodexed and pre-rooted (of-course) so you can customize
-no 4G support
-other special tweaks to make it feel like we are using a phone manufactured prior to October of 2009
Let me know if there are any other features you want included/excluded and I'll see what I can do.
Make sure the gps doesnt work!
Sent from my shoe, I mean....Epic shoe... I mean Samsung Epic! http://mobilehighway.blogspot.com/
Noted. I'm also including the option to dual-boot Windows Mobile 2003

lolz, best thread evar
Could you make it give us a donut too?
That would be awesome
Noobs, the lot of you! I've got Appletart ready and Bagel in the works.
Andrioid 0.0(Appletart)
Features: A clean fresh piece of blank white paper to scribble what ever comes to mind.
Android 0.1(Bagel)
Change Log: Adds blue horizontal lines to the paper so you're not writing all willy nilly up and down the page.
Feature Requests for 0.3 (Cinnabon): Choice of horizontal line colors. Blue or black.
This may actually be the best thread ever created...
Also blue lines please!
Awesome! I missed it on my Moment (went from 1.5 to 2.1) so I'm eagerly expecting the limited possibilities you bring us!

Sorry, there's a bug we're not admitting to with the mapping cache. You'll need to erase and redraw your vertical lines each time you want to map.

Oh yeah, here's hoping we get a port of the data lockups. I miss that feature from my Moment.
OK guys, alot of great suggestions. I think I've really made a breakthrough. I've replaced the dalvik virtual machine with this actual machine (see attached). Also, I've modded the genie widget into an actual genie that will make you actual doughnuts.
PM me about the appletart version. Maybe we could make a delicious appletart donut version.
Lol, I love this thread. The best of the day. When will we see support for a backspace function, or rubber eraser?

Does this support copy and paste?
My friend's Win7 phone can do it so Donut should be able to too! Oh wait....

Perfect! We can use Appletart's paper feature to wipe your new machine's cache (3 times of course) after it produces its output.
Remember folks, wipe your machine to keep it clean!

Guys, I have some bad news. I went to get dinner and when I came back my cat had eaten my actual machine. I guess I'll have to go with my original idea of constructing a flux capacitor. Please PM me if you have some plutonium or a Mr Fusion.

I have some but if we are going to be conducting business I'd much rather do it in a public setting. Can never trust those PMs. My name is Marty Mcfly and I think I can help you. My one stipulation would be that if we go back in time, please prevent me from entering into any sexually intimate situations with my own mother.

Well, it's ok for an Android device. I don't like the looks though, no keyboard, no d-pad.... but if I had the extra cash, I wouldn't mind playing with it for a couple of months.
Maybe you should post the pics in the OP?

this device is rumored to be release on January next year, which is similar to X2
when i see there is a complete UI on X2, and on the other side X3 is still just a fundamental system at dev kit level, i feel a little bit upset...

the 3D pic were in the first thread already. I so like the phone. But it's true, they have to put an UI. I like HTC Sense, so if there is no proper UI I rather hav Hero200.
How is it with Android phones? Could I, f.e., flash a HTC Rom (android) on a SE Android device?

Hopefully they can use this for missions, plant a rocket on top with targeting software and get a bad guy.
For example finding Bin Laden in those caves. Lets give the families of 9-11 closure and get this guy already.
Think of the possibilities if they can add speech recognition like the ones used on the Dream, then driving in the future with a simple command is quite possible while you sit comfortably inside your vehicle.
Also, think of how people with disabilities can be benefited with such technology.
WOW!
That is so sweet lol. Geeky but awesome.
Hi Everyone
The Engadget show, demo'd some great UI's from TAT using 3D on a desire!
Take a look:

or direct on youtube:
3D Map UI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InBOO8jrnM0
could be a real possibility! Hope its gets leaked!
2D/3D List:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I5reODnVdc
The clip from Engadget is much better, the host even jokes about the apk file
OH MY LIFE!
Been waiting on news from TAT for months. Glad to see it working on the Desire. Doubt itll leak though, theyve been testing for a year or so and no one has dropped anything. Dont wven know if any testers had posted anything about it.
Sent from my HTC Desire
The demo showcases what is possible with the desires hardware and possible routes for future smartphone UI's
It can offer us so much more. Just need more devs on board!
Well, if we can generated a lot of interest, we might see some movement from TAT!

Just shows that HTC arent the only ones to make a great overlay system on Android. Theyve taken the benchmark and gone an extra mile with their work.
I absolutely love everything ive seen from TAT, its just visually stunning and looks easy to use. Heard they arent going to release it publically via the market etc, but that was a while ago and its come a long way since then.

hope its not true that they wont release it publicly
thats pretty immense.
not a fan of sense, and android being ugly, this pretty much has me gobsmacked.
would happily kill people to get this.
I'm sure someone would be able to "acquire" this, seeing as the people here have repeatedly performed the impossible, and done nothing short of miracles
I look forward to this, even more than gingerbread or the new sense
only problem now, this will now haunt my dreams till it's on my desire

Over a year of testing on old devices and now up to date ones, not a single apk has been leaked. Theyve done the best job at keeping it hush than any other devs and im impressed by it. Annoyed, but impressed
Sent from my HTC Desire
They have apparently released a few TAT home beta "previews"
"Why wasn't I part of the UX Preview?
We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who signed up. To keep things under control and take care of feedback in a good way, we could send the preview out to only a few of the 60,000 who offered to participate."
http://tat.se/home/
Surely someone would of leaked it, but heh.
EDIT: It seems like the UI is a "for sale" basis to vendors who want a custom UI. So no marketplace apk, maybe a flashable zip, but chances are, it's going to be like sense. A major annoyance
Found a Fuse concept phone bearing the TAT3D which has been designed by thealloy.com, who, judging by their website, have worked with several large UK companies to bring "interesting" styles to the home...

normal android devices, and the atrix on 2.2, use some standard nice screen transitions. to enter an app, zoom in. entering each subsequent screen the page swoops from the right. and backing out the screen swoops back to the left.
now on 2.3.4, EVERY single transitino is a zoom in/out, and i have never seen such an ugly horrendous idea before. anyone know if there is a way to bring the device back to the stock method? maybe in custom ROM with frameworks edit or something?
just can't comprehend how someone thought "hey, this looks great, let's change it to this way". am i crazy?

Yes.
But to fix your "problem" go to settings, display, then animation. Pick no animation to get rid of any transition. I don't think there is a way to get back to froyo transitions.
And now that I think about it, I don't remember it ever swooping left or right. I had a zoom in to enter an app and a hard cut home when leaving an app.
Oh it swooped left and right, I just confirmed this on 2.2. Its the standard android way. We read left to right. Right is forward, left is backwards, its a very valuable ui element to all android phones flow.
Of course for now I disabled animations, but that looks bad too. I just can't believe it, I truly am blown away by this.
I don't c anything wrong with them

I get it, but I am saying that I've not hated something so much and been this annoyed at something in the last 10 years. I literally hate it with a passion and ruins the experience totally for me. Its that bad for me.
Edit: and yes I do have dev experience and will see how if possible to add it back so but this isn't a simple theme solution as the transitions are likely part of the moto frameworks or similar. I'll definitely look and try to learn more. I committed a couple hundred lines of code to the cyanogen repository last year and it got merged in to final, but I'm not so great in the grand scheme of these awesome devs.

need stable ROM, then themes, then hacks/mods, then little things like animations. usually how it goes. we dont have a completely stable (custom) ROM. that i know of that is. like MIUI, CM7.

Well for reference, gingerbread on all devices uses the standard method. Zoom in/out for the entry and exit point of the app to home screen, with all screen changes inside the app swoops left and right for forwards and backwards. Only moto changed to all zooms on gb, and they had it right on froyo.
All zooms actually messes you up a bit if you're doing some fast navigating around the device.

quote from here http://rootzwiki.com/content.php?r=234-EXCLUSIVE-CyanogenMod-7-On-the-HP-TouchPad
Hey Internet/RootzWiki--
Here is some (older) touchpad progress from Friday. The Cyanogenmod team wanted to share it with the public as a blatant publicity stunt to bring attention to our need for a few more touchpads (for developers currently working without them).
As you can see from this quick demo, we've been working hard and have made progress. Since this video was created last week, the build has been more "tabletized" (tablet tweaks added, etc.), lvm support has been added, and 2d hardware acceleration should appear very soon.
The touchscreen driver issue is now the focus of our attention.
Our ultimate vision is to create a *multiboot* solution where the end user will be able to boot into WebOS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other OSes. This appears to be very possible, and we have discussed several potential implementations with our new friends in the WebOS development community to make it easy for an end-user to set up.
For the moment though, we need about 4 tablets, as we have talented and experienced developers who cannot contribute effectively due to a lack of hardware. If you have an extra touchpad and are willing to help the cause, please let us know in the comments below.
A BIG CAVEAT-- PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR ETAS. For the uninitiated, this is the #1 rule for Cyanogenmod. It will certainly be a long while before our goals become reality. Our goals incidentally are not connected with any bounty-- we are motivated to do it right, not do it fast.
And now the obligatory shout outs-- Thanks to rootzwiki and all the devs and everyone else who are collaborating and contributing to this project. You know who you are, you.
The CM team

I know just how it works, you meet a guy named Boris and his brother Ivan under a bridge in the bad part of town. They show up in a van and he says "you give pad, wait here,we fix up good, okie dokie!” Bori s and Ivan get in back of the van,Boris jumps in he drivers seat, burns rubber and your touch pad ends up on ebay. If your smart enough to decide not to give them your touchpad,Boris grabs it while Ivan bashes you in the head with a tire iron, and you wake up in the emergency room missing your wallet after a homeless man realized the trash bag he was taking a leak on was moaning and leaking blood.
