[Q] droid 2 tether

Is it possible to make the droid 2 a wifi hotspot without rooting it. There are a few apps in the marketplace that are free, but will i get charged my verizon for using them?

There is a Mobile 3G Hotspot app included on stock D2, but you will be charged extra for using it. The free Wireless Tether app requires root.

The marketplace has a tether app, not by verizon, just some custom app....would i be charged for using this?

Look up 'easy tether' or 'pdanet' on the market. Neither require root and both are free.

Have you tried Wireless Tether for Root Users?

If you want to tether with USB instead of wireless, try PDA Net - they have a free version that works pretty good except it won't let you on secure sites. Otherwise as the OP said, Wireless Tether for root users is good or Barnacle Legacy is also good.

Linux wired tethering

I've been searching and haven't been able to find an answer. My pc took a crap so now all I have is my Ubuntu set up. Is there anyway to tether my phone to it like I did with pdanet on my pc?

Using the tethering option in the settings wireless part works on chrome is so It should work on Linux.

The fact that it works on chrome means nothing however it does work in linux. I use it in Ubuntu 10.10.

Gps not working

Please need help. I have tried everything I think. My GPS will not work. My phone is rooted and everything else is stock.

If its sydicate you'll need to reflash the kernel but don't epxect amazing performace. The gps on this phone is still very poor

Give the aGPS tools that are provided in the GPS Status app a try.

Dude. What are you running? Have you tried anything? Have you performed the sprint reactivation process that fixed our phones in dk28? I did it and my gps is perfect. Let me know and I will fine the link. It's easy.

Well he said stock but rooted but that could mean dk28,Eb13,D118?
But a simple fix that helped me fix my gps on dk28 and eb13 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921935&highlight=easiest
This method always fixed mine perfectly

Fixing wifi problems for cm7?

Does anyone else have issues with wifi turning off then on at random times on cm7? Everytime im on youtube or dling a file it disconnects. My wifi settings are set on 'never' so thats not the problem. Can anyone find a solution?
