When I got into settings and select certain options, it will force close. Other options work just fine. The ones that FC are: SD Card & phone storage, Locations & Security, and Sounds & Display. Anyone have any suggestions?
Try running "Fix Permissions" via ROM Manager app, it's solved a few problems for myself in the past.

I actually just reset the phone completely and reinstalled. It seems to be okay now.

Hey guys.
Just saw a "Allow application moving" option in the CyanogenMod settings menu.
This allows any app to be moved to the SD card.
I have been wondering...by allowing any app to be moved to SD even though originally they can't...
are there any side effects, problems or any inconveniences caused by doing so?
Thx guys.

It doesn't let you do it for all apps but otherwise it works well.
It's also a good idea to keep your widget apps on the phone.
Oh ok thx.
If you will move any widget to SD. You will have to configure it every time you turn on phone. The same with launchers and keypads.
ok. I'll remember that.

If you need it, there are apps in the market which let you know what apps can be put on sd and what apps can't or shouldn't. Type 'app 2 sd' in search box in market

I know...but I don;t mean that. There is a setting in CyanogenMod settings that can MOVE ANY APP to SD.
I was inquiring about that.
I already know what you were trying to say in your original post.
However, I was just adding on to what cheryanne and zdune were saying.

You mean apps on the market like: Move2SD or Apps 2 SD?
I have this weird behaviour, that some app-icons in folder (not widgets) from apps i have moved to sd via settings (not app2sd) disappear after reboot. I have to kill the "Home" task and then they reappear. The apps also still listed as "installed" under settings->applications. Does anyone can confirm this or is my device buggy?
I allready tested different sds to make sure that the sd is not corrupt.

i dont have this problem, try restoring/reflashing
Icons are missing is always market cache. Go to settings/applications/mange applications/all tab/market. Then delete cache. then reboot. Always works. sometimes needs a couple times though.

That doesnt work for me. Some icons still not visible in drawer. I can see that after some time, several icons are added but not all. I have to kill the Home task and then all icons are visible. Maybe I try also lauchner pro. I also contacted SE support and they said i should send the phone to repair.. i think its a softwarebug. i really like the phone and dont want to sent it away for a couple of weeks. I also debugged the phone via adb logcat to check if there is maybe a fatal error accessing the sd, but i saw nothing unusual so maybe the se home app is buggy.
hm launcherpro kinda solved the prob. all app icons are generated in the drawer after reboot, but now apps ive placed in home-folders loosing their icons. it seems that mounting the sdcard after reboot takes too long and apps depending on sd having probs. hope its not a faulty hardware. ill do another test with class10 sd

Does any one else experience constant FCs with the systemui process? I get it nearly every single time I use tweetdeck. Rarely in other places. It's a pain because the notification bar with its softkeys vanish and requires a hard reboot.

Sorry, don't use MUI so have no clue, but you might want to put that in the thread title so people using it read it.....
Have you tried fixing permissions? That usually fixes force close problems.

I am not using MUI. Where'd you get that from?
It's on the sd card, samdisk 8g class 4 (I did my homework), and I did try running the fix_permissions, but for some reason tweetdeck still throws an FC say half the time.

I saw systemui in the title so I misinterpreted that to mean you were using MUI.
What version of Tweetdeck are you using? The current version in the market is 1.0.7.3 and one of the updates is "fix rare crashes". I also note it reads the phone state, which we do not have. Has this ever worked on your Nook? You could try modifying the permissions by turning that part off.

I'm using the latest version of TweetDeck. I keep the market apps updated when they become available.
TweetDeck works great on the Nook, it's just half the time I enter it, I get a systemui FC (which is the notification bar). Once that happens, I lose the soft-keys and my notification bar. There's no way to do "back", "menu" or any of that then. End up having to restart the nook to get the softkeys/noti-bar back. When the systemui FCs, everything else works fine - tweetdeck still does its thing, i am just now missing my notibar/softkeys at the bottom. The NC continues to operate fine (I can go to the N/home button and continue using the screens, the app drawer, etc - just lost my noti/softkeys).
SOMETIMES, the system reloads it. Maybe 5% of the time when it FCs the systemui - about 2 seconds later it magically re-appears.
No other app or action on the NC gives me this crash, so I'm not entirely sure what is causing it. If I was getting random FCs elsewhere, I'd start thinking the SD card - but for all intents and purposes, the thing runs solid on the card. I use it for Netflix, DLNA apps to control my laptop and blu-ray players, Angry Birds, N64 and SNES ROMs, Google Music beta - and it's all champs.
Something about TweetDeck, though, is causing this silly systemui crash on me.
I've never had any other issues with apps that read "phone state" (and assumed that its that reason why we still have dialer and phone apps installed on our builds, so those apps won't crash).
Heck, I don't even freeze anything - it's a base CM7 install, no special tweaks. I even tried installing the Notification Restart app which is supposed to restart the notification bar - and that doesn't do a damned thing.

No, the reason is that CM7 was developed to run on a lot of different platforms so we get everything whether it is needed or not. I'm not saying it will work, but try killing the phone permissions.

CM7 is, yes - the specific ports, no. The Nook Color CM7 build (encore) keeps the camera, phone, etc - in there because some market apps, and market themselves won't work without them.
Hey guys,
I've got an app called "Unlock with WiFi" installed on my rooted Nexus 4. I cannot for the life of me get the d*** thing off my phone. It had requested to be a device admin (which I had approved a while ago). However, I cannot deactivate it under Security>Device administrators...the checkbox just will NOT uncheck. I've tried uninstalling from within the app, which is what the app FAQs say to do, but it says I must first deactivate the app as a device admin.
I wasn't even rooted prior to tonight. I got so frustrated trying to uninstall it, I just did a quick root and installed TiBu...then proceeded to "Un-Install!" It looked like it had worked, I rebooted, then there it was again! I just want it gone! Any suggestions? I'd really rather not have to flash the stock images, but if that's my only option, I will -_-
I'm not familiar with the app but go into the app and find any and all settings to disable it to make sure the app is no longer running. Then go into Settings > Apps and stop the app. Then go back to Settings and remove the device from administrators. See if that works for you.
Have you tried settings >accessibility and turn it off there?

I've disabled the functionality from within the
app, but cannot disable/force close from Android settings (see attached pic). I've even tried booting into safe mode, but experience the same issues.

It's not in accessibility, only in device administrators...and Android will not let me uncheck it.
Hi Guys!
New to android after years with my iphone, and I'm loving it!
However, everytime I try to open a link etc I get a box that says "complete action using" and a list of apps I can open it with.
For example, a youtube link in the browser will ask me if I want to make the youtube app the default action.
I click ALWAYS, but then the next link I click on asks me the same message again. No matter what I do, I can not get my phone to set any defaults.
It's getting very frustrating making extra button presses to open every file and/or link on my phone.
Anyone else have this happen?
If I go to the task manager, I can see the defaults I want are in fact there, and I can clear them and start over but no matter what I do the phone just won't use them.
I'm using the stock launcher, and having the same problems with Nova.
Thanks for your advice!
Hi,
Out of interest, did you have this issue before installing Nova?

to be honest, I'm not 100 percent sure because I'm so new to this phone.
Do you recommend me uninstalling Nova? If thats what it takes to fix it, then I don't need Nova that badly!
edit: ok I removed Nova and the problem still exists
Am I the only one with this problem?
Hi,
Something to test/try but pick an app that you don't mind losing your settings or data for, e.g YouTube.
Go into Settings, General (tab), Application manager, All (tab), and find an app you've already set to be default (but it keeps asking). Go into the app and clear cache and data. Now open a link or whatever, get asked the 'default' question etc and repeat to see if that cures it.
If not we might look to clear the main cache next (will explain). Don't be put off Android or the N3 with this - both are fabulous and worst case it might just be necessary to backup your stuff and factory wipe/reset.

well, the solution for me was to factory wipe, bummer! problem fixed though.
If this happens again, I hope to find a better solution!
Thanks for your help Jonty
You could have tried clearing the defaults for the app first in settings/general/applications. (clearing the cache and data does not clear the defaults, that button is a bit lower.)

Hello,
I have cleared my main cache and still every single time I click on (for example) a name on the imdb.com website it asks me to choose and app. I have selected the App multiple times and ALWAYS hit "Always" when I choose it. Can I get help on backing up my data and then resetting my phone and then putting data, contacts, photos, etc back onto my phone.
Thank you,
theronpoe
