Data Stopped Working - Vibrant General

I created a nandroid backup so I could flash to a new rom and now the data on my stock 2.1 does not work. I am not sure why it is not connecting. Nothing was changed during the backup process.

Hey,
tbh, just move on and flash your new rom. Data will be there when you arrive at you freshly installed rom.

I installed the new rom but still I do not have any data. I have full bars but no 3g or edge.

Sorry Sharky,
I had data issues (after messing with a 3g toggle widget) so I Odin'd back to stock and flashed Team Whiskey's Nero Beta 3 and data is certainly working fine now. Sorry for the troubles. Have you done anything (titanium backup etc) at all to this fresh new rom and it still isn't working on a fresh rom?? FYI, I'm no pro at this, just trying to help.

Did you try only 3g?

I broke my wifi!

Hey people. Well I screwed up and broke my wifi. I have no idea why I thought this worked work, but I flashed the wireless n fix from 2.1 thinking it would improve my speed. Nope! Now I can't even activate my wifi. Is there an easy fix other then a complete reinstall of the rom?

Have you tried flashing the original wifi radio or your favorite ROM. You could just flash your nandroid backup
i'll have to look for the wifi radio, but like a moron i didn't do a nandroid backup before this attempt at wireless N.

Problems with 3g and ROMs

So when I first rooted my phone I put Fresh on there. I installed the ROM and the 2 radio files. I then got the 3d and gave the evo to my gf, but fresh was very slow for me so I installed the CM7 ROM.
CM7 was very buggy for her, especially since she was new to Android I decided Sprint Lover's ROM on there and flashed a newer update on it since.
The problem is that she has been having problems with 3g. She has so many problems and errors with 3g data. It shows that she has 3g, but she gets errors when she tries to access the internet.
My question is, how can I get it back to stock or a nice rooted stock rom to try and fix this problem? Do I just flash a stock rom? I'm guessing the fresh radio's might be messing something up. If there is a simple solution to this without having to do a full erase I'm sure she prefers that, being that we've fully erased her phone like 4 times already, lol.
Thanks guys.
Get the Sprint Lovers all-in-one package from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
It's flashed through hboot (it's a PC36IMG.zip) and will flash not just the rom but also the radios. This will wipe everything.
Alternately you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485 and get just the latest radios and flash those. Flashing this will not wipe everything.
If the problem is with the radios then that should fix it. If it doesn't, then it's likely that the issue lies somewhere else.
thanks, just installed the new radio's. Will see how it works.
I would definitely just get the app mybackup root and back everything up apps/data , sms etc.. Then just restore everything after you flash a new ROM.
Then just do a fresh install of what ever ROM you want then test out different radios till you find the best ones that work for you I'm on old radios because the newer ones didn't work great for me not all evos work the same .
I hope that helps you out some.

I've reserched couple days but looks like nobody got my problem.
now I fixed my problem btw... well I'm not sure this thing works to u or not
anyway try it if u still got 3G problem.

download 'MSL reader' at market n get the numbers. it's 6 digits.
go to your phone and type ##3282#
tap 'edit mode'
type that 6 digits from MSL reader
tap 'data profile'
open menu n tap 'restore'
then the phone will be reboot.
when booting is done, your phone will start resistering to network.
after that, if something popup n ask update (mayb PRL update), 'cancel' it.
mine works perfectly now.
hope this work to u.
ok thanks, i'll try it out. I do get "3g" at the top though, but always get an error while trying to retrieve data.
Also, what files in the SD card are necessary? Is there a list? I think there are so many junk files in there taking up space, I don't know whats necessary and whats not.
Please help slow EVO 4G after flashing Sprint Lovers All In One
Obvious Noob here.
having issues with my Evo 4G after flashing Sprint Lovers All in one
phone seemed very fast immediatly after flashing SL but since then has become just overall slow.
in fact, i'm downloading an update to ROM Manager right now (a 2.27MB file) and it's taken literally 20 minutes to get to 75%. it's painful!
when i go in to manage applications...says "computing" on space, data and cache etc.
before i flashed SL all in one i ran factory reset 3x in a row prior to flashing - i did NOT re-format my SD card but had it removed (after unmounting).
Should i try to wipe and re-flash or just go to CM7? Are there any things i can try before re-flashing or moving to another rom? Please help..
thank you OB1B

MIUI signal dropping

Hey guys,
before you guys roast me Ive asked the guys on the MIUI forums this question before but have been unable to get a sufficient answer other than "flash the newest radios" which I've done before.
My problem is when I'm at home(and only at home) I get an inconsistent signal. My phone will have an OK signal one moment, and then a minute later have no signal at all. This only happens in the apartment complex which I live in. Everywhere else my phone functions as it did before.
The problem apparently happens when I flash a new version of MIUI outside of my home. It happened this summer and never resolved for months, even after I switched to a sense ROM and flashed new radios. After a while the problem went away by itself and I switched back to MIUI no problems, and have been back on MIUI for a couple of months now.
Last week I flashed a new version of the ROM outside of home again and the signal problems returned. When my signal first went bad I contacted Sprint and they told me of a "single cell outage" however the other people with Sprint phones in my building get service. So I'm inclined to believe I've done something to my phone that causes this signal drop.
Can anyone please help me???
Well you did all the trouble shooting yourself if everything fails the only problem is possible is the phone itself. If you have insurance just take down to Sprint store have them check it out. Also try turning on roaming see if that helps. Best of luck.

Instead of upgrading your radios, have you tried downgrading?
It could be a coincidence that your problems happen when flashing away from home. It could also be that some file is made on first boot of the rom that somehow affects your connectivity. It doesn't seem likely, but I don't really know what else it could be. Try Reflashing the rom over itself without wiping data... of course do this while at home. If you're not wiping system in between flashes then try doing a full wipe - boot, system, data, cache, dalvik, SD-ext, .android_secure - and flashing MIUI while at home. I know that the problem persisted after flashing a Sense rom and updating radios, but it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, try downgrading your radio and/or PRI/NV.

Thanks for the input guys. I don't have time to do a full wipe right now since I have finals in a few days, but as soon as they are done I'll do a full wipe and maybe convert back to a SENSE rom and update the radios etc. Then I'll flash MIUI again.

You only need a sense rom to update the prl; you can update the radio, PRI, and NV through a flashable zip in recovery.
So I never wiped my phone/updated my PRI etc. but miraculously I have regained signal at home. I received my bill from Sprint and a few hours later I regained service. Cheers to Sprint, the shadiest phone company not named Boost Mobile!

[Q] [solved] GPS Not Working After Cyanogen Mod Install

Hi All,
I just got a new used Samsung Galaxy S4 on Sprint and brought it over to Ting (way, way, way cheaper). I got everything working with the stock ROM, including GPS, but I wanted to install Cyanogenmod, so I rooted it, flashed TWRP 7.8, and flashed the latest Cyanogenmod (snapshot M12), with Gapps, and a zip file with the Ting data XML files to get 3G and LTE working.
Everything seemed to work great, but then while driving I noticed that the GPS just did not get a lock. After trying for an hour, it still had nothing. I installed GPS Status and saw that it had no satellites. Clearing the GPS cache and re-downloading data with that app did not solve the problem. I tried GPS Doctor without success and the GPS fix equally without success.
I rebooted, then factory reset, then erased everything and flashed the latest CM nightly, all with no success.
I found some similar problems online at these places:
http://myblog-online.co.uk/2013/12/the-continuing-saga-of-my-galaxy-s4-custom-roms/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/98811-gps-not-working-23rd-nightly/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172670
These are all old and none gave me anything that useful. Is it a GPS radio issue? Is there anything I can do?
I also just found this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_d2lte, but it is for the S3, not sure what to make of it.
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom, but then I copied it to my computer, and when I copied it back again it didn't work. TWRP failed to restore with the error "No partition selected for restore".
My plan now is to flash the stock rom with odin, confirm that GPS works there, and then try again, but this is becoming a huge time sink and I have a lot of other things to do.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? I am pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue.

That's is pretty much what you have to do. Its go back to stock and get a lock there in maps. When you have a lock just go back to recovery and flash your custom ROM of choice. That is pretty much the only fix.

Thanks ROMANTiC KiD,
Good to know that I am heading down the right path before I spend a lot of time on this.
Should I not erase everything when I flash the custom ROM? I am pretty sure last time I used TWRP advanced erase to clear everything on the phone before installing. Should I just do a regular factory reset in TWRP to install CM in order to keep GPS functionality?
Thanks!

Yes sir you can factory reset in twrp just remember to back up your files first! And you should still retain GPS lock.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did exactly that and I can confirm that it did indeed work.
Thanks so much for the help.
Hi all,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am having this issue and the stock firmware flash isn't solving the issue. It is all very odd because it doesn't actually retain any kind of lock after flashing. I'm following instruction on here, but after locking gps on stock, then going to CM I cannot get a fix. It either had a massive radius on Maps, or it just locks to my home or work location.
Since trying much more I have managed to get the occasional satellite lock via GPS Locker, but even then as soon as I move from either my house or work, it can't find anything to lock onto and just defaults to a static location.
Is there anything you would recommend? I have 2 Samsung GS4's and they both exhibit the same problem. I have also tried this on an S4 Mini, but that retained lock just fine. I'm really confused as to what to actually try. If you could recommend anything I'd be very grateful.
Again, I'm sorry to res an old thread, but no one has been replying to the one I started for this issue :/
Your problem may be that there is some new issue with the newer firmware. I had success by first flashing the *old* firmware (you can download it from my dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o3f3ynyezyy4yw9/L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_L720VPUFNAE_HOME.tar.md5?dl=0) and then upgrading to the second to last firmware update for the GS4: which gives you Android 5 but without fixing the MMS bug.
After that I flash TWRP with Odin, and then do a full erase in TWRP followed by flashing the latest CM. That series of steps works for me every time, although I found that large changes to my physical location (e.g. flying to England from California) cause it to break again. I actually had to sit in a cafe in an English airport with my laptop out flashing my phone back to stock just so that I could use Google maps to get to my mother's house. It was pretty ridiculous. Because of that and other issues, I now just use stock. I hate it, but I do it anyway. Good luck.
