A lot of people have the clockwork bug where if the phone is completely off and you plug it into the wall charger, it automatically turns on straight to clockwork recovery. It's very annoying as I can't recalibrate my battery.
Has anyone found a fix for this???
I just wish Amon_Ra's recovery was available for this phone. Never had probs and had better features.
Completely agree. I noticed an update for ROM Manager came through this morning but the version number of CW Recovery appears to be the same. Haven't tried to flash and test yet.

Any assistance is appreciated.
I rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...
pull the battery out this happened to me before... pull it out and go into recovery mode ... first download on your pc 1.0 baseband .. then while in recovery load that into your sd...then install it to your phone... that will take your phone back to when you first got it out of the box... after that load up baseband 2.0 then root then raider
You could also try booting into cwm recovery and do a wipe data/cache
Did you get past the boot screen?
I am also stuck on the boot screen.
With some advising to pull the battery I did so. It did allow me to boot to recovery and I restored the backup I had taken. I am back up and running as if nothing had happened. I will revisit flashing the radio to the right version and trying the rom again soon.
hello, i have a fully rooted mt4g with clockwork recovery & evil desire hd port.
i let my phone die completly before charging it and every time i plug it in while the phone is off it boots back up into clockwork recovery, thus not being able to charge while off. any fix or is it suppose to be like this ?
& another thing, how do i boot into recovery mode the normal way? (not through bl)
thankyou
known bug in clockwork...i believe it is being worked on..
the charging issue is a commonly known issue for the MT4G after rooting and installing clockwork mod. not sure what you mean by "not through bl", the only 2 ways I know for booting into recovery is through ROM Manager or powering off phone and holding down the volume down and power buttons at the same time till phone boots.

Y'all need to try this:

So has anyone figured this out, or has there been a new clockworkmod released ? I tried the 'Fastboot' option but my phone still turns on in the CWM recovery menu.

Go to Settings>Connect to PC set "default connection type" to "charge only"
I flashed to CM 6.1.1 and made a backup beforehand with both Titanium Backup and Clockwork Mod Rom Manager 2.5.1.3.
the problem I'm having is when I tell the phone to shutdown it will shutdown, unless I plug my mini-usb charger in (or have it in already) and then when it's plugged in it will automatically switch back on and go into CWM Recovery console and hang at the reboot option.
I've flashed back to my original backup of the T-Mo OTA OS and I get the same profile I had before, but again when I go to shutdown with the USB cable plugged in it always pops back into the CWM Recovery console.
anyone have any idea's where I'm going wrong ? Thanks in Advance!
Buster!
It's a known issue with clockwork that it will boot into recovery when you charge it while powered off. It is a clockworkmod issue and there is nothing you can do to fix it aside from flashing back stock recovery.

RE: Wierd Problem G2
Wow, now that was extremely fast answer, Thank You.
Is there I sticky that tells me how to go back to where I started from?
I've read so much in the past three weeks just to get here that now I don't even know where the h*ll I am?
Thanks again Ratchet !
During my flash to CyanogenMod somehow my phone set itself to boot into cwm whenever the phone was connected to my computer. I should stipulate this only happens when the phone off. When plugging it in, while phone is on, no problem.

This has been a known issue with ClockworkMod. It did not happen when you flashed CM. The original battery charging screen was located in HTC recovery image and that is what was shown when you were charging your phone with it powered off (it never really is powered off; more like a hibernated state). Since ClockworkMod has now replaced the original HTC recovery, that battery charging screen is no longer available, so CWM displays its screen when you are charging the phone in a powered off state.

You say it's a known issue, is there a known fix?

There is nothing to fix. If you leave your phone on while it's charging it's not an issue, because the screen will turn off and a few minutes. If you power it off while it's charging, it will display the CWM screen. It's still charging, but the screen will stay on.
If you want the battery charging screen back, then you need to replace CWM with the stock HTC recovery image.

1) I'm not uninstalling cwm though, am I?
2) Never done this procedure, "replace CWM with the stock HTC recovery image", how would I do this?

1. Yes, you would be removing CWM and replacing it with the stock HTC recovery.
2. Run the original HTC RUU (ROM update utility) and reflash the phone back to stock.

Well, in other words, this is known behaviour for CWM and there is no fix. If you don't want it to happen, as tpbklake was trying to get across to you, either don't plug your phone in while it's off (i.e. charge while it's on) or go back to stock.
If you're looking to just flash a custom ROM then never mess with again, you could try using unrevoked to flash the stock recovery image. But as all of the other posters have said, if you want the useful recovery features of CWM there's no getting around the USB issue.
I looked into this awhile ago myself and picked up the stock recovery image, but never tried it out. (stock recovery image is attached)
I find it kinda funny how many people can turn off their phone and plug it in to charge and see a giant animated battery icon and somehow think that the phone is still completely off? That should be the dead give away that its on, in some state anyway. But enough goofin, like was said above, whether you're seeing that battery icon or seeing the cwm screen, the phone is charging and either way its not really off.
I rooted my G2 about two months ago. I'm currently using MIUI, not the latest but the one before it. Somehow, my phone got turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I have a custom recovery image so I don't know if that affects anything. I tried to reboot into recovery by pressing volume down and power, nothing happened. I then did volume up and power. It vibrated three times and the orange light started flashing. I pulled the battery and now when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. So how do I reboot into recovery and so I can restore my backup? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Never pull the battery during something like that. It sounds like your bricked. Someone else confirm?
I don't think it's bricked. I plugged it up and then Clockwork came up so I selected reboot now. Clockwork came up again so I tried to restore my latest backup and the screen went black. I'm going to let it charge and then give it another try.
Ok good. That's lucky because whenever you pull on a boot like that, it usually bricks. If you have the option, try to re-flash your ROM. Maybe even try stock. If you were getting a black screen, it's most likely you flashed incorrectly.
Ok, I was able to boot into recovery and now I'm restoring my backup. I don't think I had a custom recovery image with this one so hopefully I won't get stuck in a bootloop. When you say stock, do you mean before I flashed MIUI (it was the first rom I flashed)? Thank you for your suggestions and all of your help.
first install adb on you PC, it helps a lot in these kind of cases.
1. try "adb logcat", it would tell you about what's going on in your machine.
2. once you get your adb working, try "adb reboot recovery" to see if it could boot your phone in recovery.
3. if after doing everything you fail to boot either your phone or in recovery then try using PC10IMG to boot a stock rom and then re-root your phone.
I got it back working. For some reason, I'm just starting to think that it needed charging (the battery had been out for about a day or two). I do have adb installed and configured on my computer since I needed it to root. Thank you for your suggestions, I will definitely rember them if this happens again.
lol of course when you get black screen and led blnking means your battery begging for juice, you're lucky that when the phone booted back in recovery and you tried to restore a backup the phone went off before actually starting to restore, that would've bricked your phone
DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING WITHOUT AT LEAST 40% OF JUICE LEFT
