When I press the screen turn-off button on the top right side of the phone the speaker makes a "click" noise.
This is not the same sound that it makes when it types - it is more of an electrical discharge click or noise due to the speaker amp turning off.
Does anybody else have this happen when they turn the screen off with a quick click of the top right side button?
This seems like a really odd sound for the phone to make every time one turns the screen off.
thanks.
Both our Focus phones do this so I guess it's normal.
If you mean the clicking sound,
its an optional sound that plays when locking/unlocking.

Has anyone noticed this: Everytime time the (back) speaker starts playing, you can hear a clicking noise. And when you stop playing music, sounds, etc. you can hear it click again (after a few seconds).
It seems like the back speaker gets tuned on and off on demand. When it's on, you can also hear white noise coming out of the speaker. It stops when the speaker gets turned off.
The clicking is quite loud...it's not so loud when using headphones.
It is either really quiet or non-existent on my phone, since i did not notice it yet.
The best way to test this is probably:
- Quiet environment
- Press the red button (in touchflo for example)
- The will cause a short click, the a beep sound is played...and about 3-5 seconds later you will hear the click again.
true it happens on mine too, never noticed it...
i did like you said, and when holding the phone speaker right to my ear i can hear the white noise and the "switch-off" clicking when the speaker is disabled. then the noise is also gone. But to notice this i had to go to another (quiet) room and hold it to my ear, its really quiet. maybe yours is louder...

Strange. I've been using my Jade for over a month now. Don't seem to experience that problem. No funny sound. Or maybe it's too soft for me to realise.
Thanks for your replies.
I recorded this effect by putting the speaker directly to the mic of my laptop.
Listen here: http://pasalacqua.de/tmp/touchclick.mp3
You can hear the click, then the beep, then the white noise, then the click again (to turn off the speaker).
I put the volume of my phone to low. So the click is actually louder than the beep.
I guess there could be bugs worse than this. But it bothers me when the phone plays system sounds like a simple beep. The click is louder than the sound...
I just wonder if it is a general bug or only a bug on my phone.
When I press down on the trackpad on my MT4G, it emits the loudest clicking sound. The other four buttons emit a clicking sound as well, but nowhere near as loud as the trackpad (in the middle of those buttons). Why the hell is it so damn loud? CLICK CLICK CLICK! Luckily I don't have much of a need to use it, but when I do use it I find it quite annoying. I really have only used it to light up the display when it's off to then unlock the phone, instead of pressing on the button on top of the phone.
Anyone else experiencing this?
This one has been bugging me for a while and for the most part I've just worked around it (by manually triggering the bug/fix myself first).
The situation is that X1 starts off at a particular volume level, and I start listening to music via PocketPlayer though from what I can tell it happens regardless. It sounds "ok", but noticeably flat? I dunno like a mono audio file even volume turned up, although I can't confirm that. Just describing.
OK the bug - if some kind of event happens, the volume suddenly jumps up, without actually changing the setting. So I'll be listening to music and if one of the following occurs:
1. receive or send an SMS/MMS
2. I toggle the phone function, i.e. turn off phone radio. when I turn it back on the volume doesn't change
the volume jumps up, and I have to say the music sounds much better. On the flip side, when the phone happens to ring, it's loud as hell, distorts like hell and annoys everyone in the process. The ringtone volume just sounds over-the-top.
Now I'm pretty sure it's not the music player because #2 (toggling the phone) seems to affect the volume already. The message box alert sound on toggling the phone seems louder the second time.
Anyone have or notice this issue?
The only volume threads I find are all about a low constant volume and don't sound like this one. FWIW I did try the reg changes anyway. It still varies.
Hi guys, I had been playing with my nexus for around a week. Everything are very smooth and overall I'm satisfied with it, but there're 2 things that have been bugging me for a while.
First is the automatic brightness, if I put me device in the well lit area the screen bright up which is normal. But then if I bring it back to dark room it just stay there with the very high brightness and doesn't go down. I need to turn the screen off then on or toggle the auto brightness checkbox to make it back to normal. Is it normal behavior?
Second is the headphone jack, if I plug my phone's headset in (the one with built-in mic and a button to answer the call), the sound from my headset is very weird. It likes you ripped off the vocal and the bass from it, but if I hold the answer button it is normal again until I release it. I tried both headset from Xperia Neo and Nokia C3, it still the same. But this isn't happen with a headphone without mic, it works fine.
So I wanna ask if anyone have the same problems as mine and found a way to fix it.
Thanks for reading.

Automatic brightness is clearly a software issue. I think they only increase the brightness in this setting, never decrease (unless you turn off the screen or change brightness settings). This is done to avoid screen flicker (brightness keeps going up and down when the amount of light falling on the sensor changes). This may happen a lot due to your own shadow.
CyanogenMod roms have an option to Allow brightness to decrease when setting brightness to automatic. This will be the solution to the problem.
The headphones may have different hardware setting (positions of Left / Right / Mic) on the 3.5mm jack. You can try by inserting the jack in the port not full but partially (keep some part in the air). I am talking about the 3 rings you see on the metal jack.
Some have it as Left/Right/Mic and some have it as Mic/Left/Right. Headphones without Mic will only have Left/Right and have last spot empty i.e. only 2 rings.
So try inserting headphone only 2 rings in. That may work.

I have tried CM10 before and it still have the same problem but I didn't dig into the advanced auto brightness option so I missed the "Allow brightness to decrease" setting you said. Now I'm using stock rom so I will take a look into that when I flash CM10 later.
About the headphone jack, you're right. Look like the mic and the ground pin are reverse in my headset and the nexus 7's jack. That's why when I press the button, the mic pin is connected to the ground so I can hear normal sound. Plug it in halfway doesn't work so I think I should find a new headphone without mic.
Anyway, thanks for your answer, it helped me a lot :good:
Hi, does anyone else's volume off click when using the rocker switch to turn the volume down sound a bit odd, it sounds like its too loud and is distorting the tiny speaker. Its more then you usual bloop noise I get a raspy click over the top as i the speaker is damaged in some way, had this since new, kept meaning to check this out.
I get it every time I turn the volume to max from off, but sometimes when I turn volume to zero from max, its like something is rattling in the speaker, hard to explain.
