[Request] Backlight notifier - Optimus One, P500, V Themes and Apps

Hi everyone.
Hope i'm not repeating a thread, guess not....
I want to ask for the development of an APP which already exists for HTC HD2, and i think Samsung also.
- Request: App, which blinks the keyboard blacklights only when we have a missed call, sms, mms, e-mail...which doesn't turn on the screen and save some battery, and make us know we have a missed event just by looking at the keyboards lights.
Already developed here, but doesn't work on LG P500:
LeoExtendedNotifications
BackLightNotification
Thank you guys.
Appreciate

It has to be implented into the kernel. I hope somebody will help us.

Missed Message Flasher Free works just fine for me. It does exactly what you want , you just have to play with a settings for a while

Yes, i know, i understand but i want to avoid the screen backlight to turn on, and avoid wasting the battery for screen light up.
See the idea? :S

I´ve got the flash duration set to 750 milliseconds and the screen is not turning on, just the backlight of the keyboard.

I'll try it as soon as i get home.
Thanks ghostface

Thank you ghostface. It works excelent !

Yeah, that's fine, that's what i wanted...
Just one problem, if you set the Blinking for more then 300msec. it will blink the screen also...
But it solves my problem for now.
Thank you!

I use no led from the market

Thx for the hints, i set to 250msec

I think new version on the market has that fixed!

display still blinking
in MMFF display still blinking. Try look on it in absolute dark. Im scarred, that this can damage display in long time use. LED under buttons can blink separately IMO, but someone must discovery how to do it. It isn't in Android API, but on rooted phones must be some way.
I'm find in /proc/kmsg this lines when backlight of display and buttons turning on and off
<4>[49220.752161] mddi_hitachi_lcd_on: started.
<4>[49220.752191] mddi_hitachi_lcd_panel_poweron: started.

.....
<4>[49976.543885] display_table() : delay 20 msec
<4>[49976.594127] display_table() : delay 40 msec
<4>[49976.594172] mddi_hitachi_lcd_panel_poweroff: started.

Hey using CM7 custom Rom, and use the app but doesn't work at all if I don't choose toflash screen, buttons don't blink.
Can you give me a screenshot or something to show me your settings?

I think the Nessy ROM has that ability built in.. I used it for a long period of time before I discovered CM7 for P500. TBH, the flashing of the lights was bugging me after a while..

Screen won't turn off with IM app open?

Hey everyone! I've got yet another problem... I have Jivetalk installed, alpha, and when it's CONNECTED, it won't turn off the screen. Only dim! But when DISCONNECTED (but still open) it does turn off!
So I thought "Geez... Lemme install another app!" so I installed Palringo, and same thing... Screen dims but won't turn off!
Is this a kind of known issue with apps that use data or leaves ports open or something? Some help or advice would really be appreciated.
www.beejive.com, if you'd like to try jivetalk (which I recommend 100%. They're the best.
I'm from Beejive, the developers of JiveTalk.
The screen item is a known open bug in our current alpha build (0.5.2). It will be fixed in our next build, 0.5.3.
You should get an alert in your app when the new build becomes available.
thanks.

Ohh then that makes me happy to hear that! Is there an ETA on it? I love your products, I've been using Jivetalk on my ipod touch and my blackberry. Also, is there a forum specifically for you? Or a Thread somewhere to talk about the WM6 build? Thanks

we haven't ran a forum for this alpha cycle yet, though we will start a few threads here and maybe one or two other forums once we go beta, which should be soon.
The backlight fix is already in the 0.5.3 dev build, but we're waiting on a few emoticon support fixes (the main feature in the 0.5.3 build) before releasing it to the registered alpha users.
For feedback, we prefer emails sent to our winmo address --> [email protected].
Wish MSN Mobile would keep the backlight on - it goes off in its normal power saving mode, but doesn't light back up again when you receive a message.
OK I think I understand what's going on. I see that on Skype they give you an option to turn off the screen or not, because they want to know if it should be turned off and go into standby or not. By default it must keep it from going into standby to keep a constant connection. I imagine JT must do the same thing. hehe. Can't wait for the next version weee! because right now when I receive a missed call, or an SMS and the screen turns on (i manually sleep it with the top button to keep JT open and not kill the battery) it stays on. Last night I went to bed early, put it to sleep myself, woke up and the screen was on all night. From 97% battery to 45 in 8-9h hours without use (my usage, but the screen was on! haha)
Can't wait Keeping my fingers crossed.

Blinking LED constantly while using Android

I've had a quick search but cant seem to find anything. So thought I would ask.
When using android the green status LED at the top of the HD2 keeps blinking. A bit like when you get a message in WM. Is this normal or have I set something up wrong.
Using darkstone release with latest cotulla zimage.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
It is a "feature" since the last zimage. i think it will be fixed with a zimage in the future.
superb work, thank you all devs
Its to attract the attention of the iphone users.... in morse code its say "Look at me I can run more than one task, and more than one operating system!"
It's a shame it doesnt project a big neon sign above it saying the same!
Isn't this how most WM devices used to be? (Not exactly sure, as the TP2 was my first WM device. Perhaps someone more experienced could step in.)
I think their LEDs would constantly blink to show the phone was on.
Maybe it's the same thing.
I have the same problem (with the same ROM). Also the key pad lights stay on also. Not that bothered by it because the awesomeness of Android/froyo outweighs any negatives!

You can avoid the keypad lights to stay on with the following:
When your phone is shut down turn it on.
When windows is booted never press a button from the keypad!
Go to your sd card and android folder and start calcid.exe and haret.exe.
Now the keypad shouldn´t turn on the lights!
Thanks for the help. I've had my phone running android for a few hours and now the blinking LED has stopped. So now I'm very confused but oh well not major issue.
Keep up the good work devs. I'm going to donate by not sure who to donate too yet lol!

I am facing this only when battery is bellow 15%. If this is the case then just charge it before it goes to 15%.
If that's not the case then you can try installl MAGLDR v1.3
Do you have this issue in Froyo or Gingerbread ROMs? or in both? What version of CWM are you using?
I have the same problem on MIUI since after approximately 1.3.18 (cutover from Froyo to Gingerbread). Also have this problem on CME DHD2 Compact.
It is also an issue if someone tries to call me.
Sometimes, if I try waking the phone from sleep (power button) and it hits the black screen, and I wait long enough, it will wake. But again, the only real fix I know is pulling the battery.
I am running MAGLDR 1.13
Also, another fix that works sometimes is plugging in the phone into a power source e.g. laptop USB port
It's something about light sensor, when you put your screen into a strong light it would be turn "unblack" again. I don't know how to fix it, is this a problem with this hardware because it's broken or my version of LEO doesn't support NAND full functionaly.
Begging for answer!
i know about my poor english
I have this problem too.. running latest Hyperdroid rom by pongster (magdlr version) and it's driving me crazy. Sometimes phone wakes up normally after a call like it shoud, sometimes is stuck with black screen for few minutes, hours even (although i can't wait that long so i pull out battery)..
Back on WinMo everything worked normally, so it's not an hardware issue with proximity/light/whatever sensors
Is there any fix out yet? I googled and searched this forum a lot and haven't found nothing much helpful, ony a couple of threads with bunch of people with same problem like me. An option for disableing those sensors would be just as good, i've tried few apps for keeping the screen awake and none of them actually worked..
Any help is appreciated.. thanks in advance.
Bump!
Anyone? :/
I have the same issue - running Gingerbread, MAGLDR 1.13
Very annoying cause everything else works super.
Temporary solution i use is to use headset / handsfree. Then there is no problem.
So experts on XDA, we are begging for a fix for this!
I have the same issue since first Android roms and never found a real solution for the problem.
Instead i found a bypass that works for me reasonably well (99% of the cases the screen turns on after a call).
I installed the following 2 applications that wakes up my screen after the call (install then enable each one):
1. Screebl - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keyes.screebl.lite
2. Modified version of SpeakerShake - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=449922&d=1290758421
I suspect this issue is somehow related to hardware failure in light sensor. Installing these programs solve this problem for me.
Also take a look on the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835127
I have had the same thing happen to me but only around 2 or 3 times in a about 3 months of usage. Had it on both CM7 and MIUI Gingerbread ROMs regardless of battery percentage.
MAGLDR 1.13
Some users experience this using SetCPU
if you have a profile for screenoff and it's set to the lowest frequency, try to set the frequency to something above 500 MHz.
If you have smartass set as governor, then even setting the frequency to it's highest (without OC) during screenoff wouldn't change anything in battery performance, but the device will wake up faster.
Your setup works for me as well - until we`ll see a fix for it this will do

Incearca Sanity app, cauta pe Market, mie aceste doua nu mo ajutat
with me is so but only if I navigation (Navigon) and to have someone call me and then left the screen black and I can not make
try to change the kernel. that works for me
hey guys! i found the solution goin through the market!
download an app called "Sanity" theres a free version in the regular android market.
go to the settings > general > check "Reverse Proximity" (This will give you some warning about not using it if you DONT have a buggy proximity sensor). Check it anyways. Then go back to preferences then click "Proximity" scroll down and uncheck Turn off screen and leave leave the Turn on screen checked. this will force your phone to stay on during calls so that it never has to go through the proximity phase of calls this no more black screens. Hope this was helpful ^_^
Thanks!
I had this problem aswell. MIUI & Cyanogen mod were the ROMs I was using, and this problem started occuring after a few months use (my screen is also damaged from a fall, so maybe the sensors are a little damaged as well).
When I installed the WinMo 6.5 stock ROM again, everything was normal, except that my screen still turns black during calls BUT I can activate it again by pressing the power button.
Now I installed android again and the Screebl app (enabled it) and I have the same functionality! The only problem that remains is that my screen still turns black during calls, so I have to answer with the phone button and putt down phone with the power button. Still beats having to remove the battery though .
If someone has a fix for the black screen, it would be more than welcome!
But, thanks a million for the Screebl app tip! I can use my phone again .

I also try with WinMobile and the problem was still there ...
I think the sensor is broken ....
I will bring my phone to service ... and when i take it back I will tell you whether it is repaired
Solution
I had the same problem with Android roms on my HD2. I saw in an other thread a member (z-o-r-r-o-, thanks btw) wrote "just clean dust on the screen, where sensor is situated". This looked like a joke to me, but it's not. On a review of the phone I found the place of the proximity sensor. This is on the top of your screen next to the speaker, on the left if you look at the screen. I just took off the protection layer of the screen and cleand the sensor and the problem was solved. So I cut of a bit from the protection layer so that the sensors arn't touched by anything.
I think the problem is that this sensor is much more sensitive with android roms.
Hope this works for you to.

[App] Power Switch - screen off by closing case

Guys, im the developer of Power Switch, an app that switches off your tablet's screen when you shut the case.
The main thread can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277712
Ive had reports of problems with the folio's light sensor, so would appreciate some debugging feedback.
You can use the lite version to test, it has all the features, but just wont save as much juice.
Thanks in advance. Feel free to reply here or in the main thread, i read both regularly!
Thank you for it.
Are you saying things work properly?
I've played a bit with this app now and I can't get it to work properly.
Here are the two things I've encountered:
1. In the notification bar it says - Power Switch is active, tap here to configure. This doesn't do anything. To open the app/configuration I have to access it from a shortcut or from the app drawer.
2. The light sensor doesn't seem to work. Only response I get from the app is when it's turned up side down. Then it will switch off the screen.
I'm currently running it on FolioMod 1.4
Android 2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9
What else can I do to help you?
1 - ill fix this, seems to be some sort of funky error
2 - thats sounds like a kernel problem, try using sensorlist app from mareket to check sensor...
Okay, well I think I know why the light sensor is giving us/you such a problem
There is no light sensor
I've seen it being listed in ads and reviews, but mine doesn't seem to have one.
I've got:
* tegra_accelerometer
* AK8975 3-axis Magnetic Field sensor
* AK8975 Orientation sensor
* tegra_tmon
Do you have auto brightness?
No.
I think Auto brightness was available in the Folio3x ROM (Honeycomb) but if it was active and actually working I don't know.
See that means its your rom/ kernel combo thats broken... surely every modern tablet has a light sensor?
I'll give the Honeycomb ROM another go next week and will let you know how it works.
Is anyone else missing a light sensor?
I have taken for granted that this device doesn't feature a light senator... Does anyone have any indication of that there should be one?
Do you have auto-brightness?
I think that we have and I had problem with SOD before I installed this app. Now I only put it in case and after par seconds it turn off screen and when I want to use it I don't have SOD problem. Thank you very much, lite version is OK for me but I'll might buy full version.
Sent from my FolioComb 0.4 using Tapatalk
What is sod?
SOD=Sleep Of Death
That means if you go to hibernation, you can't turn on screen and you must pull out your battery or long press power button(not fo all devices)
Well there apis an auto-shutdown setting...
Well? Any comments?

as allways. But noone can reproduce SOD - I can't even if I have seen it few times. For me helped long press on power button. Looks like bug in device dependent code - betelgeuse patches for kernel.
I sure can reproduce SOD. More often then not my folio reacts that way. I am currently not turning it of but just dim the screen when I put it away for awhile. Have tried a lot of things but my specimen is "a bit of a bastard". Still I'm hoping someone will come up with a way to circumvent the problem with some software patch. Guess it would have to be done in the kernel...

[Q] Display turns on automatically after charge

Hi XDA,
I have a serious problem with my Galaxy Note: Every night I put the note in the docking station to charge it - and every night i get woken up by the note's display which tells me "Charging complete".
Is there any way to prevent / disable this? I had this phenomenon on Stock and now on KingDroid Notemania mod. I once read something (just can't find it anymore) when I was still on stock which helped about 95% of the time (some file was deleted). Anyone know a solution for this?
Thanks so much in advance!

there are a lot of postings regarding this, please use the search function!
simplest way: if you are rooted, delete the according sound file!
Hi,
thanks for the advice TML1504, but as I said: it didn't help all of the time. Sometimes, even when I deleted the soundfile, it kept happening. That's why I wanted to know if there is any other solution for this "problem". Also, I didn't really find any solution here in the forum (maybe I've been using the wrong keywords). Could you help me out? "Screen turns on after charge" didn't really get me the results that help me.
Thanks anyways,
Mad
just google for "galaxy note disable charged notification", i'm sure one of the methods will work! also, if you remove the correct file the notification WILL be gone! regards
Hi again,
Thank you, with those search results I did it last time. maybe it was just a coincidence it did not work out all the time. I was messing around with a lot of different roms back then
Thanks again,
Mad
Hi again,
went well for a couple of days (or at least I did not notice), but this night, around 4 o'clock my Note went bright as day an told me, charging was completed. So the soundfile I renamed "/system"media/audio/ui" "TW_Battery_caution.ogg" to "TW_Battery_caution.old" (like I found on Google with your advice) did NOT solve the problem.
Anyone else have any idea on how to fix the screen flashing up in the docking station when charging is completed?
Greetz,
Mad
I 'fixed' it by installing an app called Dock Clock from the store and so I get a nice bedside clock with a not-too-bright display instead. The app can be set to fire up automatically if the phone is put in a charging dock during a set time period.
Hi,
thanks for your reply!
Does this app really prevent the display to go bright when charging is finished? Could it really be that easy?
I'm already reading post's about decompiling SystemUI.apk and changing certain values. But those are obviously obsolete in ICS and only valid for Android 2.2...

Give it a try
Use No Moar Power by Chainfire. You can charge the phone with the device off and set a time you want the device to turn back on, aka right before your alarm goes off.
Hi,
@linker3000
I'll do
@Note_E
No, that doesn't help because I want to be able to get (emergency) calls, so I need my device powered on. But thanks for the suggestion anyway!
I don't understand why Samsung would sell this as a "feature" and not make it optional...
Greetz,
Mad
I wonder if you turned the phone so the screen was facing down, would the proximity sensor stop the screen from coming on.
Or try covering the sensor with the screen facing up and see what happens.
John.
