Unlimited battery? Glitch? - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys dont know whats up with my Galaxy S but my battery has been solid 100% for past three days now. dont know about you but my norm is, even on standy, i lose about 1% every 20-30mins at the very least.
but now it has been a good solid three days and my battery is still showing 100%, im assuming its a glitch of some sort? anyone else have anything similar happen?
oh i hav'nt plugged in the charger once, or plugged into computer, i hav'nt switched it off and on (scared i might disturb this magical state ). and yes i have actually been using the phone, texting, web serfing, etc.
its just usually even with light use of the phone, my battery is pretty much dead by the end of day one, but here i am day three and still 100%, wtf?
anyone else come across this phenomenon?

Unlimited energy?
Good job Samsung.
How do I obtain said glitch?

lol i dont know whats going on, but it's right here infornt of me! still 100%! day three and counting!
but just to mention, my battery was always quite dodgy. sometimes i would lose upto 5% battery in 30 minutes on standy!, to get a good battery state i used to turn the phone on and off until i reached my norm of about 1% loss in about 30 mins standby. but this is just silly, even if it is just a glitch that shows me 100% but may actually be 20% in reality, i just dont know how it is surviving 3 days straight without charging once.

Have you looked at your battery useage? It should show how long its been on for, I don't believe it! Samsung arent that great

I want that for my sgs too!! xD
Well, thanx for sharing this. And hopefully you may update your magical power happening evryday!

Oh I've had this glitch before! Except In my case I was afraid the battery was broken so after about 15 hours or so of it showing 100%, I rebooted it and it showed me the accurate value.
Perhaps I should not have rebooted.

ahh i see, perhaps 3 days was a bit exaggerated, it is showing "2d 13h 42m 23s since unplugged" but still 100%!!!

lol yh perhaps you should've waited and seen what happened.
at this point im just waiting for it to die out, wonder how long it'll take?

Happened to me once, was gone after a reboot.

hehe probably should'nt have rebooted, should've seen how long it would last.

speak of the devil! it just switched off!
and right after i took a pic of the battery status screen aswell!
oh well, it was fun while it lasted, although something to note; battery seem to last about twice as long before it died out.

Battery life sucks?!

So last night was NYE. I took my phone out with me and the battery was at 100% according to Touch IT ROM.
I took 4 or 5 pictures which were terrible, the camera sucks.
I stayed at a mates and woke up this morning, the battery was down to 20%?!
I haven't even used the phone and after 16hours or so the battery was nearly dead. What the hell, am I doing something wrong.
I always thought the battery sucked but this is a joke

same here ill try to get a new one
Check if you have any applications running in the background. Do you have Wifi turned on, bluetooth? Every module that is enabled keeps sucking power. If you don't turn them off, your phone can indeed get drained pretty quick. The battery is just fine, 1500mAh isn't bad at all. Do keep in mind that - due to the big screen and many options - phones like this just don't last for a week.
Also, did you fully uncharge your battery when you first used the phone?
If the problem persists, you can always contact SE to get a new one, as it's not supposed to drain that fast.
I know on the old P990 if you didn't exit the camera app correctly it just ran in the background and drained the battery. I do a double check in the task manager every so often to ensure that nothing was left running that shouldn't be.

This is a thread from Touch HD about AE Button Plus.
I am testing this now on my X1 because I am alos not happy with MY battery life.
dingolino
the camera is not that bad, actually it's one of the bests I seen in a mobile device... anyways, don't expect to take, for example, good night photos, but actually, with good lighting the photos came really nice.
as for battery; I'm sure you shoudl have something (maybe wayfinder) running in the background, with moderate use I get 3-4 days of battery without problems; and I never let it get down 40%.
i get about 2 days max on my battery. thats with nothing running in the background, althought it does ckeck my emails every 15 mins.
shame u cant buy a bigger battery like a 3000 that would last twice as long as 4 days on one charge would be amazing
Hm.... i have another one for you guys. I was using the phone non stop for the past couple of days. Wi-fi is always on and i watch media and use opera a lot. The battery lasts for about 8 hours. When i got the phone the battery was almost dead. I did charge it but for a couple of hours only. Then i charged it overnight for 12 hours. Did the fact that i did not charge it for a long time from the box affects my battery life???

yeah, i did that with a phone i bought about 2 years ago and had to get a new battery as the original one would die after a day or 2 (should last about a week as was standard phone). i always leave a new phone on charge overnight now so i know its charged all the cells
I'm not going to say that you guys are wrong, but...
This phone, does not need to be fully drained the first time you use it, nor does it need to be fully charged. That was only an issue on older batteries, it's not an issue anymore.
I also believe it says so in the manual somewhere So, I'm guessing you guys had some defect batteries, cuz it's not an issue with the battery thats in the X1.
are you using Itjes latest HD based rom?
I found I got really bad battery life out of it for a couple of days till I let it run down to under 10% then charged it again. It's working fine now.

I heard the same thing from a couple of people. Older batteries had that problem but modern ones don't. I just wanted to make sure =P
u might be right. like i said it was about 2 years ago it happened to my phone. but why take the risk
The only thing I had on was wifi and check mail every 30minutes.
I only use general useage (8 pictures and a few messages)
but that was it. I dont understand. I charged it for 20mins and its gone from 20% to 60%.
7hours later its only on 50%. Strange thing is, my phone has been on a radiator all day and it hasnt last that much charge.
Last night it was freezing -4c outside and wasnt that warm inside, then I slept in a cold room. I wonder if heat has anything to do with it :S

Did you flash your phone recently? was the battery at full before you flashed it? it's been reported as a problem on other phones (I remember the UNI used to do this) that if you flashed when the battery wasn't at full it messed up the power levels.

Mine was crap the first few days. I read somewhere on this forum to run battery to zero and charge overnight with the phone off. Mine now lasts all day and is recharged each night.
Just a sidetrack with regards to batteries...
When I charge my X1 with the device turned on, the battery tends to heat up till even the casing is hot to the touch. Is anyone else encountering the same thing?
However, when the device is off while charging, the battery doesn't heat up.
Weird...
It depends on what applications you've installed.... Touch flo drains it like hell.
My phone looks like this.
I use SE panel 1, no other gimmicks.
Pocket player for music 2 hrs each day.
15 min of video here and there.
2 hrs of phone calls, and a hell a lot of messages, which means keeping on switching the phone from potrait to landscape and so on...
SPB phone suite.
SPB wallet.
SPB Wireless manager.
I get a solid 2 days with about 15% remaining at the end of the second day...

As much as possible put the phone in sleep mode when you charge the battery. And the battery gets more heated up when charging over USB.
Hi!
I had the same problem some days ago. Even if the X1 slept on my desk with no application running, after 2 days the battery was empty.
I thought about what I installed last and deinstalled Batti. And now the battery lives much longer.
Btw... does anyone know a good app to show the status of the battery? Or how I can show it instead of the clock?
Batti was great but charging every second day was not.

Dood, Its a bit ridiculous.

Ok, I have read literally countless threads about the less than desirable battery life of the G1. However, no situations quite like this.
I bought my Dev G1 used (used for 3 weeks, supposedly). I was noticing that the battery was lasting like two hours, of course I was using it, and it was downloading some large updates.
However, Last night I went to bed about 11:30, and my phone was at 100%. I put the phone on standby, (because I didn't want to charge it all night on a full battery). I woke up @ 6am, and the phone was completely dead. I will stay on for about 30 sec and then shut off.
Thats a bit ridiculous! 6 hours on standby???
I left the phone off, and I am now charging it, in an attempt to "Condition" the battery, but Im not convinced that the battery isnt bad.
Any Opinions/comments?
**EDIT: Oh yea, I forgot to tell you. "Use only 2g networks" is checked, and GPS and Wi-Fi is off.
1. did you check that it's an original battery and not some no-name?
2. as you said, try to condition it for ~2 days, always let it run dead, try to switch it on again once or twice, keep it off and charge it 2 more hours after the led is green. repeat this four, five times, if nothing changes, call t-mobile and complain. they might send you a new one.
Sounds odd for sure. If I leave my fully charged dev phone on standby (and 3G no less) overnight it's never below 80% when I wake up 6-9 hours later. Usually 85-87%.

Its not a no-name battery. I am an AT&T customer. I hope that conditioning it helps.
sorry, didn't pay attention
Its all good. Im just really frustrated. My Tilt lasted me two days of moderate use. I honestly need at least 6-7 hours of moderate use out of this phone, or Ill be forced to sell it.
I got 28 hours of moderate use out of my phone yesterday and it was only down to 20% at that point. You said you take it off the charger once it's full? You should leave it plugged in for a while longer.
Yea, see I left it plugged in pretty much all day yesterday. I was tethering with it, and the USB charges while tethering, Correct? So when I took it off it was fully charged.
don't charge it via usb, ac/dc seems to work better.
don't know why but many people say so..
Update: I plugged it in to my wall charger @ 8:00 am this morning. I just got a green LED. Ill leave it plugged up until about 1:30pm, and post the results later tonight. I hope I can see some difference...
By the way, I notice also that when its plugged into the USB, it gets VERY HOT around the battery compartment
Yes it does get very hot. Tell us what happens when you unplug it later. I noticed this with one of my old Window's Mobile devices, the battery lived less than 15 seconds.
Have you tried using the "Watts" program to measure battery stats.
Maybe you can post a screenshot after leaving it in standby for about 3-4 hours.

Never let a lithium-ion battery run until it is dead!!!!!! They aren't like NICADs, they have no memory effect, and this will damage them. See "Lithium-ion Battery" - Wikipedia

On my ATT Tilt I had 2 extra batteries and could barely make it thru a 10 hour shift at work with all three. Now with my G1, I have the same 2 spare batteries, and still barely make it thru a 10 hour shift on all 3. So, lifetime seems the same to me. They both suck batteries.
Shaggy
Well, After charging the battery yesterday afternoon, I used it heavily for about 9 hours. I used it way more than I would under normal circumstances. That was just after 1 cycle. It finally died about 10:00 and I left it off and charged it over night (about 7 hours). I will see if it lasts through one full day of normal use.
Im a little concerned about what Bill said. I certainly dont want to hurt the battery. This is the first I had even ever heard of this being potentially damaging.

i meant let the phone run dead, not the battery..
ninjaedit:
clarifying it further: use the phone until it shuts down, switch it on again, wait until it's off, switch it on, wait until it's off and then charge it using the wall charger.
What Bill said is true but conditioning the battery once a month or so is not as destructive as it sounds.
Just try not to do it all the time and it won't kill your battery.
All I know, is that it helped tremendously after just one time. it went from 6 hours in standby to 9 hours of heavy use
i took my ADP off the charger at 6am today...n nw its 1am...power manager show battery level at 29..n i used it to click a few pix today...listen to some music for about 2hours..so all in all i am pretty satisfied with what i have got..but some(some means like maybe once in a week or something) days the battery doesn't even last 4-5 hours..even when its on standby..i simply don't understand why this happens...!!!!

Is the battery meter accurate on any builds?

Im going nuts. Literally none of the builds ive used have had an accurate battery reading. Ill go from 100% to 30% in a couple of hours with zero usage, then turn it off, plug it in and it will be in the 90's. Or ill turn it off plug it in and will go up by 10%, 20% or some other random number. Then sometimes ill go from 100% to 50+% in a matter of hours with zero usage and it will stay like that, it will just drain from there. And no i dont have gps or wifi on and the brightness is default and i just got a new g1 in the last couple of weeks but no improvement... This has happened with EVERY build i can remember trying (at least 25 builds total since rooting) except maybe CCyrowski's mytouch which im about to flash as my last hope
At this point, ill use any build with an accurate battery reading, even one with a horrible theme, any suggestions? pleas? thanks
builds ive tried:
ion
ion2
most hero builds
various builds by:
thedude
cyanogen
haykuro
cc
great builds but ive had it with not knowing how much battery i have left
Have you calibrated your battery recently, ie let it die completely so it shuts off the phone, then charge it all the way to 100%?

try a battery widget theryre usually more accurate than the normal batery indicator
thats happens to me sometimes, I think its just the battery itself.I left my phone on with nothing running at 20% came back one hour later and it was DEAD.
while other times I'll be at 1-2% listening to music trying to drain it and the damn thing will keep going for hours

How long does it take to charge a stock battery with an ac charger?

I pluged my phone in 4.5 hours ago and it is as 92%. It charged it halfway fast, but then seems really slow now. I did searches here and on google, but no one seemed to comment on slow charging. Maybe I will buy the new Andida 1600ma replacement battery.
Yeah the same thing here. Dunno how long exactly it takes but it's that sounds about right. I don't know if it's a fault with the battery or if they're all like that, I don't remember how long it took when I initially bought my G1. On the other hand if you're in a hurry turn off the phone and let it charge. You'll get a 100% (from an almost empty battery) in about 30 minutes.
Ok great good to know

It actually did a full charge in a couple hours. I forgot to check while watching the movie. I left it on for a couple hours more because I am trying to see if the phone to adjust it's battery meter. It ran at 1% for a while so I ran it till it died then charged. I ordered the 1600mah battery, so as long as I get 30% more battery life I am happy with that.

98% deep sleep but 48% battery drain? What gives!

I charged my phone for a little bit last night because it was a little low (48%). I took it off at about 77%. I don't understand what happened. Why did it just drop like a rock? Phone is AT&T LG g2, stock 4.2.2 rooted.
Jesus that can't be good.
I have no clue about this one; it's just too weird.
I'd probably let it fully deplete and then completely charge it and see if it ever does it again.

That's what I'm going to do. Unfortunately this is not the first time it has happened. This happened about 2 weeks ago, but then my GSAM showed a HUGE signal decrease at the same time my battery drained, so I figured it was just that.
This time I just do not understand. I've had this phone since August or September and it's been great until this randomly started happening in the past couple weeks.

Well it says 66% of that was phone radio signal. So that is the problem 90%. I had similat problem only it was while charging, so my phone wasnt charging almost at all, when i restarted it was charging fine (from 20% to 100% in 90 min) . What happened when u picked it up, was it still doing that? Or maybe its a some kind of cpu loop if that is even possible. Some people was complaining about nexus 5 rapidly discharging with combo of some lite apps (news readers).

Yes even after picking it up, the drain continued. I've let it die and am charging the phone while it's off but I don't know if the problem will be fixed.
The youtube app was causing a major battery drain for me a few days ago,now I close it after using it just in case . I'm in the habit of checking the phone's temperature at all times :/
it has a great battery life, especially sceen on time, but the standby isn't top notch at all, I think it's poor software optimization on LG's end, I hope 4.4.2 fixes it.
charge till full. then reboot and check battery percentage.
