Porting Android 2.1 on Wave Bada (I Am doing it) - Android Software Development

Hi Guys,
I have started working on porting Galaxy OS on samsung wave.
I dont know how successful i will be but i would like to give it a try.
How i started:-
I have tried to force porting on galaxy os on samsung wave using ODIN 3.
My phone was very much detected in download mode.
But after choosing the right PIT,PDA,PHONE and CSC file and click on start.
The process get halted at
<OSM> All threads completed. (Succeeded 0/Failed 0)
Kindly refer to the pic attached for the complete message.
After this my phone was not bricked and it switched on correctly.
Probably because no operation was eventually done on it.
After doing some research i realized that the some files are missing which should trigger this process.
I can access the shell of the wave using wave sdk. And then i need to make some changes in its shell to bring it in sync with android shell.
As both the phones have Linux as a base so it wont be tough.
Can please somebody tell me the file structure of android based phones.
OR any other help to move it further would be highly appreciated.
I truly believe in this forum and the people who made it successful.
Thanks Again.
Sachin
P.S.:- I am not scared of loosing my phone even if its bricked during this process.

Maybe you should try to write the proper bootloaders from galaxy s.Go look to the galaxy s pages on general. If you want help pm me

I hope you have luck with this!!
I think many are hoping that wave can use android some day

we support u bro. . .gud luck on the project

Good luck with the project, God speed

Please suggest what needs to be done.
All i am aware is JTAG. Rest you can suggest

maybe you should try odin for the galaxy s, there is a checkbox for update bootloader...

I have already tried ODIN and choose bootloader as well but still no luck
I am thinking of purchasing JTAG.
Do you guys think it will surely help me boot using android pit files.

hope to see some developers joining in the project

Perhaps it's a bit pessimistic, but I'm afraid that even if you achieve to boot android on a Wave, you'll get stuck with the hardware and lack of drivers :/ But I don't know at all the Wave architecture, so I might be wrong.
Anyway, I wish you good luck cause your project is really interesting.

Its intersting thats why i m willing to do it.
And after all who doesnt want freedom.
I mean to say we want to give samsung wave a new way to live rather a new soul all together.
Guys i havent order giff box yet because i havent got any confirmation weather it will let me bootload android os or not.
Can anyone help me in this.??

IRC Live-Chat & General Help

Now I know there are different variants for the 10.1 so all are welcome in the channel.
We will do our best to help you out with all your questions
If you just want to idle and hang out feel free!
The more the merrier
The channel is small now but let's build it and handle most of the support in there and keep the threads clean of garbage
To all devs and themers for the 10.1 please contact me to get you set up in the channel
Server = irondust.net
Channel = #galaxy-tab10.1
Webchat link = HERE
Felt the need to bump this until it gets stickied so we can get good community support going for this and keep the threads clean of garbage posts. If you have a question on something feel free to pop in the chat. Like I said there isn't a lot of people there now but we can spread the word and get people to come in and idle and help each other out with questions. I'm actively pushing to get better organization for the threads and have them put by region. I've volunteered my services to help out but have not heard back from any mod yet so if a MOD is reading this hop on into the IRC and hit me up and we can chat or you can just PM me if that's easier.
Regards,
Hell yeah, finally, and VERY useful. (;
Thanks for getting this stickied corei7qm you're the man!!
Thanks to whatever MOD that stickied this as well please take a look at my post in the suggestions thread if you get the chance.

Please Help!!
I have an Inspire 4G and i was trying to put ENG-OFF following this steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403 to run "Desire HD s easy-off.exe" gave me "Bootloader is Corrupt. DO NOT REBOOT!" (He went out alone) and I could not take him with anything, you connect to the charger and nothing, the PC and nothing, as 20 minutes after i had pressed the power button turned on the cel with the white screen and vibrating continuously approx 8min, the problem is that in the beginning it takes too ... Now every time I reboot so, and if I discharge the battery will be useless because I do not grab power when connected to the charger or the pc .....
- I can not enter the bootloader, I managed to do with the "Super Tool V3" and the recovery reinstall the ROM, I thought it would end the problem but stayed the same, takes too long to start and does not grasp the power of the charger ... .
What can i do? What is it?
If I noticed that the bootloader says "ENG-OFF" and if you step back to ENG-ON?
I greatly appreciate (and have no idea how) that can help me please .....
(sorry about my english)
If you have noticed this thread is in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums and not the HTC Inspire 4G or Desire HD forums I would suggest going to those forums for help.
Here I'll even link you to the CORRECT forums
HTC Inspire 4G Q&A - HERE
HTC Desire HD Q&A - HERE
Could the OP please link directly to the IRC room?
Thanks.
please consider to have one also in DALnet.
Thanks
Does upgrading the Samsung sch i905 make a difference?
I recently traded for a US Cellular Samsung sch i905 10" tab with android 3.2. I'm not interested in using the 4G and the thing works great on WiFi even if it does ask me to insert a SIM each time I boot it. I immediately began thinking of updating the tablet to ICS or even Jelly Bean but was unable to easily root it and install CWM prior to flashing the ROM as I have done with many other tablets. I have studied this issue for several days now, read everything on this forum and elsewhere, and I THINK I have found the proper method to root and move on from there. Posts here and elsewhere have led me to conclude that this device is particularly troublesome to update. I am concerned about bricking it although I have never been worried about that in the past with any other device. That said, I have the following questions:
Will this device run better, look better and offer more functionality if I update it? I have seen some posts that suggest the device is more sluggish after upgrade.
Is there a current HOW TO about how to update this device from start to finish? A lot of the information I've seen here and elsewhere is mid to late 2012 and this is, after all, March 2013.
If I've missed something on this forum that answers my questions, I apologize. Any information or direction anyone could provide is appreciated...
Thanks

[samsung i857(doubletime)]ROM devlopers and users of this phone

HI all , i lunched this thread after weeks of googling and usless search for a new stock or custom rom to update my phone (samsung sgh-i857 doubletime) it's a dual screen phone with querty built-in keyboard it's from at&t and it is stuck on android 2.2.2, i'm very sad that they and after years from lunching it didn't back it up with a single soft update -_- ... and i know that there are users who bought this phone like me and seek help.. i know that it's not this easy but if you are a devloper help us by creating a custom rom for it ....if you are a user of this phone please support this thread by commenting so we can get an update for it :good: ps: i attached informations for it's cpu
Hello good sir, I like you am a noobish Doubletime user who is struggling to update it to Gingerbread. So far I have been somewhat able to use the Cyanogenmod source code and I have built a CWM Recovery for the device but that seems to have hard bricked it... I ordered a new one off ebay for $15 and I'm ready to start cooking. You have my support!
Just an update.
I have a plan I have on how to get this runnin.
1. Port CWM to the DoubleTime through Cyanogemod 6.
2. Get a working version of Cyanogenmod 6 working on the DoubleTime to hopefully free up some space.
3. Find if Gingerbread can run on Froyos kernel.
From there I'll either be building a GingerBread compatable kernel or Cyanogenmod 7 depending on compatability. Any advice or help would be very appreciated.
Being new to ROM building I'm a little lost and hesitant on flashing things but here's what I know so far.
The DoubleTime uses a Qualcomm MSM7230 same as the HTC Vision. I forked it's Github respiratory and I'll be using it as a base as recommended by the Cyanogenmod porting guide.
The partitions sizes (as a accurately as I can estimate them) are:
/cache=21.05MB
/data=176.65MB
/system=194.38MB
I may need to know the recovery partition size but I'm not sure how to find that out.
I have the recovery.img and the boot.img as well as the zImage. So as soon as the repo sync is done I'll be on my way.
I'm back again today with somewhat mixed news, I can find most of the partitions and their names (I've learned a lot today) but I can not seem to find the boot, recovery or ramdisk partitions. I'm already boggled by the what seems to be unconventional naming setup for partitions. Put all of my "notes" in a text docement in the attachments section. Any help with this is very appertiated. I can type and post anything into the ADB shell you need me too.
I'm beginning to feel like I'm talking to myself, I probably am...
Upon reading forum rules and such it has come to my attension that this is the wrong forum for this kind of thread, So I have made a new thread in the Miscellaneous Android Developement Forum that will hopefully be more useful at getting more proffesional and opinionated help.

Samsung S7390

Hi All,
I'm Jack Droid and I'm a new member.
I have a Samsung Smartphone model S7390.
Surfing into the internet, I understood that there is not much development for this device...
Maybe because that device is not so appreciated but anyway, I have this model!
Moreover, I did the root and I found an CWM recovery that it's ok for it but what I have never found, is a custom rom.
My question is : do you know if exist a device that could be quite similar to Trend Lite S7390 so that I can use a rom for that and try to flash into my device ?
Many thanks for your attention and waiting for your kind reply.
All the best

you dont want to try a rom just because it is made for a "similar" phone. it is very likely to brick your phone.
the rom must say it is compatible or made for your phone, or you cant use it.
unfortunately, i can find no roms for your phone, as you already found out.

Hi bweN diorD,
thanks for your reply.
I suspected that was not possible to flash a rom for another device into mine but considering that development for my phone is not so much acitve, I was thinking that could be a solution but it seems that it's not a good idea!
I was thinking to S5280 but it has a dual core cpu if I remember well...
Anyway, I have to leave my phone just with CF root and CWM recovery and considering the actual situation, I'm happy in that way !
I will continue my hacking experience with my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition that has much more development.
I also have seen in this very good forum that a member is development a CyanogenMod for that tablet so thjat I'm following the evolution and when the rom will be rock stable, I will proceed to flash it.
I thank you again for your support and I wish you a very good evening!
See you into the forum and all the best!
EDIT
I'm following the development on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52978200
S7392 is the same phone of S7390, only S7392 has two slim but electronical components are the same.
Maybe this could be a good solution!
Well you can try fancylite rom

Lollypop porting

As some of you know i'm working on a N6 (because of the qhd screen) lollypop port since 1 month (really?^? sooo much to port 1 rom?) ^^
My last result is a half bricked device because of kernel incompatibility with L... (i'm lucky that i still can pull out the battery).. The only kernel source available is the Lg one.. some of you like @Tectas made an incredible job with their source (thank you.. you really helped me a lot for developing, and thanks to @sykopompos for his incredible help and friendship). Anyway main problem with L is not the rom itself...everything it's in place and surprisingly it's recognized by the bootloader in last_kmsg... the real problem is an error that i coulden't get rid of.. is a kernel panic due to the MODEM! Here the link to see what happened.. Googling for that error i found a lot of people with the same problem in old version of android but no one with a fix (aww c'mon!!) anyway... i tried every possibile fix cherry-picking and coding for bypass or avoid or to solve this problem...but it remains... any help would be appreciated but i'm afraid we'll all need to wait for LG to release the L source for G3.
If someone wants to help i'm really happy to work with everyone

If I were you I'd wait for a proper bring up of G3 + CM to 5.0, there are to many variables to this, I mean heck, even on 4.4.4 when i build I deal with a ton of build errors I need to solve.
IF you got LP to even boot on the G3 it would prob work very bad at this point.
just my 2 cents
i'm not sure at this point because all the hardware is recognized by the bootloader but at that point the modem get a fatal error that is not even described..

did you by chance check out the 4.4.4 kernels for lg g3 on the modem part. I know they're different, but maybe it might give you some clues on how to fix the code.
wich kernels?
Are you trying port 5.0 from the n6 system img? Probably never going to work bud
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Premium HD app
i think that once i will figure out how to fix the kernel panic it will start to boot at least ^^ with all it's bugs but it will boot

SM-S820L Lollipop Update?

Is there any way to get Android Lollipop on the Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L? I have read about custom ROM's but I still don't know much about them and can't find any for this model. If anyone has found or created a way to flash a custom ROM onto this device, please let me know.

I also own this device, and unfortunately there is very limited support in the custom Rom department. If there was to be a lollipop Rom, someone would either have to port one somehow, or build it from source. Given the development rate for this device, I don't predict it happening anytime soon, sorry to say.
not going to happen
i have been trying since february the answer i got from my carier was samsung is contracted not to support this device thats why that is so hard to find samsung told me to take the device to bestbuy to force update if they could probably irrelavent but maby it helps
SM-S820L Got the Shaft!
Yup! This seems to be the future for the SM-S820L, or lack of future I should say.
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L. I have spent lots of hours scouring the internet looking through every android related forum in hopes of eventually finding someone that is undertaking much needed programming to build a custom ROM for this CorePrime version.
If you are looking for a custom recovery to use. I can point you to my and others posts over at Needrom. The best I can offer is an unofficial TWRP release, but it DOES work! It does for myself at least and I am no Android Guru whatsoever.
I guess I am not allowed to post Links in any of my posts yet because I am still a NOOB on these forums. I'll PM you with some direction my friend!
I cannot take credit for coming up with any of that software. I simply rooted around long enough to compile a collection of tools and files that worked for me to modify the Recovery of my SM-S820L.
:good: Feel free to shoot me a Private Message on this site or to my personal Email....... [email protected]
I would love to help out as much as I can with modding your phone. Like I said, I'm not a proffesional but I have read up on the procedures used and been successful with my own Galaxy Core Prime:laugh:
