I opened the market app this morning on my HTC Hero (using RCmix rom 2.1) only to find that the market place has changed automatically.
Its similar to the 2.2 froyo market, with auto-updates, and comments on a separate column, and there is a third column with related applications.
Strange :S
Has anyone else got this updated market?
Its a generic update which goes across all platforms 2.1+ I believe. Some phones get the update automatically; but if you don’t it is available on xda to install

why are so many apps missing from the market with legend?!?
I can't find qik, ustream and many others!
Can I ask what ROM version you are using?
I can see them using 1.23.405.1.
If you meant QikTalk, I can see that. Ustream is there too.
the market is country dependent. This means if the app developer didn't turn on some checkboxes or there is some other issue with the app it won't show up on the market.
Next to that there are some strange things going on with apps on the legend. For example all barcode camera apps are not to find in the market but can be downloaded with an APK. A popular app "Layar" is nowhere to be found and doesn;t work with APK install. Layar and HTC claims is some camera issue. The desire has no issue while having the same camera....
There are someother examples of Apps not showing up. I think and hope that this is an issue because the Legend didn;t have a worldwide release like the Desire and App developers and publishers are not yet get catching up. Really hoping a rom update from HTC or XDA will fix many minor problems.
here are the info
ciao!
I am using the same rom, 1.23.405.1.
I can't find qik (for video streaming), bambuser (same purpose), nor even ustream (the application to stream your videos, non to view other people streaming).
I can't find barcode scanner as well. there's no clue of that application.
Some others are missing, I can't remember those apps, but I'll be more precise soon!
Hi,
the problem seems to be present in all phones using Android 2.1
You can take a look at the issue here:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=7591
(Sorry, I can`t properly link, i`m new on the forums)
I know the issues with the Market, where Android has to add the device to its register for it to be allowed to download certain applications. Does this still happen for the Desire? It appears to because I've followed links from the web to the market (such as eBay) only to find the market is telling me it doesn't exist.
What can I do to fix this? Will I need to root? My guess is it couldn't be to dissimilar to spoofing a user-agent in a web-browser...
Any help is appreciated.
Hasn't the newest problem been fixed? There was a problem with apps that had been updated/added to the market.
Which apps aren't you able to see?

The eBay android application. I followed the link on their website and the market said there was no application. I searched the market to no avail either.
It's happened with half a dozen other applications as well.

I still can't find the Google Earth app - On latest Orange F/W
Is that an official eBay app or the Bonfire Media version? Can't see an official one, but can see BM one.

You'll have to have a FroYo or Nexus rom for Google Earth. Only available on Nexus, but there are a lot of .apk files of floating around the internet.

Ok, so I was looking in the app Marketplace to see if any new Pocket God updates have come out yet, and I happen to find that I have a new(upgraded) version of my market place.
It reminded me of the market place from Froyo(from when I downloaded a Froyo rom to my phone.) But I looked and I still have 2.1. How is this possible?
When I select a paid app, my phone is grayed out, but my Desire is not. Desire is currently running stock ROM but Nexus S is on MIUI.
I tried my friend's Desire running the same version of MIUI and he can also download paid apps. So why is my phone grayed out??

hover your mouse over the phone that is greyed out and it will tell you why it's greyed out.
It says the item cannot be installed for this device. I know for a fact thats not true. It's saying that for all paid apps. Ninja Kaka, launcher pro etc etc
Hrmm this has happened to me many times before. Once I even lost a paid app (Bartender Buddy). Funnily enough also happened when I was on MIUI on my Motorola Milestone. Have seen it a couple of times on the Nexus S... I think it has something to do with permissions that developers or google set...
Notably the Car Home app. Found that I had to use a workaround on XDA forums to install that on MIUI. So it may depend on the ROM or the Device. Maybe contact the developer of the app you're trying to install? I've had good experiences with their replies. The dev of bartender buddy even refunded me.
I ask because i had a few applications that where not rated "Compatible" with android 2.3 or the phone model, so they would not install properly. I had to use TI to restore the app on my phone, it then re-created the market link and everything was fine from there.
I want to bump this because I have this problem on Miui and ZuluZulu, but not CyanogenMod. I made the app so I know it is compatible with 2.3.4, but the market shows it as incompatible. I'm convinced this is a problem with the market app in these roms.
Here is the app just looking to see if those using these roms show it as compatible:

Aha! Seems the new market apps have copy protection deprecated already.
Hey,
I'm running the cognition 2.3.4 rom and i have the newest market. One issue i have is i can't see some of the apps i have purchased in the market (Marine US east for example). I also can't find apps like onstar my link.
I've tried the market enablers to no avail.
Any tips would be great.
Thanks
Return to the older market version and use Market Enabler. I had the same problem with the new Market and solved it this way.
Backup build.prop
Open build.prop and change every line from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 and XXKG1 to XWKE7. Save and reboot. Install desired appas then just restore build.prop
Unfortunately this looks like Google have tightened up on the region restrictions. I can no longer buy apps at all with the new market, or via the market.android.com.
From what I can tell, google is checking the country that your payment method is registered too, as opposed to the region that your phone is set to with MarketEnabler
I can still buy on my tab with the old market, anyone know if there is a way to block the update to the new market when Google decides to role it out?
I'm running 2.3.4 cognition rom and I could not even see Visidon applock that I read about on this forum, on 2.33 I could....very strange...fortunaly I found the apk here on the forum
Any fix for this so I can download everything?
I had the same problem with call recorder. I contacted killer mobiles who said it was a market problem. Market replied that the app had copy- protection thing on it. I contacted killer mobs again and they wanted my ime number and market purchase number to activate my app as bought. My app, before, did not show up as bought and I had to search for it and was shown as a trial. Perhaps you could ask the app makers is this the problem. This was with the old market. Also, the new market is in my opinion, bloatware; full of photos and such. I've gone over to 1mobile market which I find good. I did try to replace the new market with the old vending.apk but it kept changing back on a reboot.

So i still could use some help with this problem
It seems no matter what rom (2.3.3 or 2.3.4) i can't get the Marine: US East app to show up. This also doesn't depend on the markt i'm using. I Just turned on my atrix, installed 2.3.4 on it and the market auto updated and sure enough the app showed up in the list.
Now i think this might be a location issue. I'm on AT&T here in the states, but i feel like maybe the phone thinks that i'm in europe or something(if that's possible).
If anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

Even on stock on the stock rom i didn't even see the apps.
I just edited the build prop changing everything i could think that would mess with the market and i still can't get some things to show up
Well i thought i'd keep people updated on this cause it was driving me crazy.
I couldn't get Marine: US East to show up, so i emailed them. One of their suggestions was my market was blocking copy protected apps. So i googled that and found that google needs to update their fingerprint data base to allow specific phone firmwares to access it.
one way to tell if your phone can see copy protected apps is to search for "Topmarkettest" and if you see the copy protection app then that means you can see copy protected apps.
I solved this (as mentioned in an earlier post but apparently i'm a block of cheese) by just changing the fingerprint in the buildprop file.
