[Think-tank] dual boot - Droid Incredible General

i found this thread and thought we have great devs over here in the DINC forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847423
its a way to dual boot two roms on our phones!! right now he's updating to the link is down but it will be up soon
but i look forward to someone implementing this into clockworkmod or amon_ra somehow
mod's feel free too move this if you feel its not development related

I'd like to see if this could be figured out I assume this is kind of development.

Wow that would be pretty cool...interesting.

Wow, very cool idea. Would be nice to have a stock, unmolested ROM on there as a failsafe and then whatever you want on the other.

think about it though, none of the folders are shared, you have to install apps separately, texts need to be backed up/restored.
this is basically like having a nandroid IMO

Is this not normal?? It sits at reading md5sum for a good ten minutes if not more.

I am moving this to General for the time being. If it happens to become a project, someone PM me and I will gladly move it back. For now I'll leave a 1 week redirect.
Your loving moderator

I really love the idea of dual booting a phone. Has anyone heard about the VMWare and LG concept to essentially run VM'd OS's on a phone. Basically the ability to run two phones simultaneously on the same phone. Now that is some pretty awesome stuff!

Dual boot is a good idea.

No throttle and no clock for liberty 1.5

Here's a link for no throttle an no clock for 1.5, I know a lot of people are using the ones for 1.0 without issues but since some people are reporting problems I decided to wait till I found this....

Hope it helps. Enjoy!

will this work if i install the gingerbread theme?
I believe so, if the clock does reappear just apply it again. But I don't think the themes effect the service.jar file.

i guess ill try on gingerbread if it doesnt seem to work ill flash back to liberty mod and reflash the throttle zip

What does "pwn" mean? I ask because whatever it is they will most likely be doing it to me since I use way more data then that. And sorry for the ignorance but not long ago I thought trolling was just looking for girls or hanging out under a bridge. I had no idea it meant provoking people in forums. Still don't understand why they don't call it instigating or being an instigator.

To pwn. Google it...it's funny to see some of the explanations but, long story short, it's short for owned as in going to defeat you, ass handed to you, etc. LoL...it came from gamers playing WoW as a typo for the word own, just stuck since.
You phrase " I thought trolling was just looking for girls or hanging out under a bridge. " Epically priceless !!

Probably not, its replaces the services.jar file for for the droidx running liberty 1.5. I'm. Not sure that the d2 has the throttle built in like the dx does. Even if it does the services.jar file is most likely different.

Looks nice, thanks for the heads up.

So, not sure what I did wrong, but when I try to instal OMHC, it won't allow me to. Running Gingerbread based Recovery, ClockworkMod. Is this something that can be worked around, or no?
Is it CWM 3.0?? I know a bunch of things have issues with that recovery.

Agreed. He's awesome. No ones perfect. I personally don't care about all of the drama, I just care about how the ROMs.

And back to trying toto help the Guy who made this thread. Are you using version 3.0 recovery?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
For what it is worth, I can state that this will install using recovery 2.5.0.5, as I just got done doing so.
Yep, i've reverted back as far as ROM manager allows and so far so good with backing up any ROM and flashing any ROM
As far as this Honeycomb port goes, I wish I had this on my Gtab. Obviously needs some work, but wow this is a 10 on the cool factor. Who cares who did it or not, these Dev's deserve mad respect for their time and hard work. I actually approached the dev for a port on the Gtab and he says he's been trying, but still no luck. As an owner and avid Gtab forumster, I can say that many people on the Gtab forums would consider this guy a god if he were successful on porting this over.
Everybody chill out about the drama and give props where it's due. This is awesome news and fantastic work.
Yes, it is. Is there another recovery I could use?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea go into rom manager and at the bottom it has older recoveries use a 2. whatever one.
flashed for a little but forgot to install gapps. pretty useless right now most stuff doesnt work. along with the bad lag its also pretty hard to navigate since its made for a tablet. things are really small and the mouse has to be moved with the toggle which is a pain in the ass among many other things. might go back to it and try gapps just for ****s and gigs. otherwise useless. will be cool when the bionic comes out and a port comes to that.

First things to do with new zoom.

Hello guys and gals. I'm excited to get my zoom in the mail tomorrow from verizon. So I'm reading up on these forums to understand where everyone is at. I'm asking if any one would would he willing to give a quick check list of first things I should do when I get it. Then I can do some research based on your feed back and get it all set up. Thanks.

Download flash player from the market , then set your browser to on demand in the settings. Get feedly for your google reader or pulse, but I prefer feedly as it's much snapier. Download plume for tablet and friend caster for tablets.

One click is to much steps(irony right?)....
Do the catch recovery before reboot method which is really simple and easy. You get root and recovery at the same time.

Play with your xoom for a while then this. I would install the tiamat rom but I don't want to wipe my xoom.
I've decided to skip roms and tiamat or whatever. Looking at threads some are WiFi version only. Then some are different firmware version. I just want stock Verizon with whatever current version its at instructions. It's just to big of a mess for me to spend time digging through literally hundreds of posts researching on what should be closed threads restarted with fresh instructions. Not 4 month old threads. I'll just root adb, use setcpu, and wait for 3.2 uupdate. Then ill join in since ill know where other people are starting from.
It really is a mess. With my Droid x it was simple. A few ways to gain root and all the Roms nicely laid out ripe for the picking. Instruction clearly labled if you have firmware xxx do this, xxy do this. No wonder people are afraid to root. I am, now.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Ok I can't quit that easy. Looked at xoomforums. I think my whole problem was forum layout. Viewing this forum on their premium app jumbled everything together. Seeing everything laid out rom, kernels, ect, much easier. I'll go with launchpad 1.3 then try tiamat. At least I don't feel lost. As long I'm not browsing through their app.

Had a mishap Saturday when I partitoned my SD card bout had a heart attack! Got recovered from that now I'm not nervous to try anything on my EVO!
That's normal, to be scared, partition takes some time to do its thing.. The one thing I have learned, is to never look at the clock when flashing.. Here are some tips, use armon-ra, partition, and flash Team Nocturnal shooter E3D port. It's amazing. Go to teamnocturnal.com and follow all the steps. GruesomeWolf has done an amazing job.

How are you saying your not sure about apps, you know all the solutions to back-up apps.

This site gives pretty nice instructions on how to make the build yourself
I would make it, but I don't have a large enough hard drive

So until someone can dump the IMG files, this is how it's done.

A friend of mine is right now for the 4G. Let's see how this works..
the result file should be .img files that have to be flashed via fastboot.
So everything will be erased, recoveries, ROM's and your SDCARD/eMMC
Does it wipe SD card?

My friend is currently trying to get a version that we can flash, because normally it just transfers straight from adb. He has to fix permissions and symlinks of the dump. Hopefully if everything goes right we should have a build by tonight
I would really appreciate this, been wanting to try it out, but don't have a PC running linux now.
Interesting. If I get time I might setup Ubuntu in Virtual Box and give it a try.
I'm so trying this when it's fully functional, even if I have to wait a long time.
Whoever is in charge of the UI is great at what they do, it's really nice looking. Especially the dialer.
Wow , I find this thread now ... I feel stupid for posting my thread now .. Alright Everything is Done , but one question ... If I flash this will clockworkmod go away, or anything from my memory ? like all my music and etc ... Just need to get things clear

was there an issue with the build that caused it to get pulled?? I'd like to try it out since I've already got your zip.
