On things like this to offer their customers.......WTF???
http://phandroid.com/2010/09/03/sprint-to-get-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-this-november/
Even if Sprint does NOT get it why doesn't Tmo say "hey we'll take it!!"
When it comes to agreements between 2 or more business goliaths, I don't think its as simple as we'll take it. Lots of legal matters to get sorted out. Just look at all the drama it took to get the iPhone on AT&T to start with. They battled over details for awhile and still had issues after the release. Don't even wanna go into foreget tablets. Can we at least get a good list of smartphones on T-Mobile? One great phone and one very respectable phone (see Vibrant then MyTouch Slide) does not make for good choices when time to upgrade.
I was extremely excited about this Galaxy Tab, but in reality, the price is kind of a dealbreaker, and as far as I can tell, there is no wi-fi only version. I am not paying for another device on the network.
But as far as why T-mobile doesn't step up: it is just like mmalott says. Contracts have so many intricacies, so many things that have to get ironed out.
But for what it's worth, you don't know that they won't make it available for T-mobile yet. Maybe Samsung will go to all 4 carriers with it, you never know. We'll have to wait and see.

I guess the G2 doesn't count? WTF is your problem? If you love Sprint so much cancel your contract and go with them.
The price is way to high for what is. For that price I can get a small fully functioning laptop that folds into a touch tablet.

I'm happy that T-Mo is not trying to get all these first-gen experimental devices but focusing on the few solid and core devices along with providing great services.
This is what a normal consumer really needs.

that. plus there's the fcc approvals needed for each band/network it supports.
I've seen websites saying Verizon is getting it to, it's not unlikely that they are just releasing on all the carriers like they have with the Galaxy S series. They aren't even out of here yet are they? Didn't this happen before with the Galaxy S series, one company said we are getting it then the others followed?

My man/girl where on earth did you get the notion that I was Sprint fan? I have been with Tmo for 7+ years and would not even think about switching services!!! My original point being is why doesn't Tmo "make a play" for things such as the Tablet or even a good , better, best smartphone, even if we do not get them?
Granted given the response by "mmalot" looking at it that way I completely see why Tmo has taken the path it has.
I am happy with Tmo no doubt but I just wish their aggressiveness would equate to a better selection of phone choices, granted the Vibrant which I love is no slouch even with it shortcomings is still a great phone in its own rights.
Regarding a phone such as the G2 which has not come out yet I am sure it will be a worthy opponent I am NOT bashing Tmo I am suggesting that they become slightly more aggressive.
Make sure you have a valid point or even comprehend the statement that is in front of you before you go "bumping your gums" and comment such as you have done.
And in closing I do not have a problem with Tmo as I stated have been a loyal customer for 7+ years (when they were voicestream wireless)and will remain a customer but I like everyone else am entitled to their opinion and I will exercise it at will "heygrl", so please do not try and come at me like I am coming from left field, it was a "freedom of speech" moment.
I do know that a lot of the times the carriers have to bid on the phones/devices that they get. Depending on the manufacturer/device. Would you rather have a g2, mytouch hd, and possibly 2-3 other big devices by the end of the year, or would you rather have a galaxy S that is a little bit larger, without the Super amoled? Do remember that T-Mobile is dropping a ton of funds on rocking out the HSPA+ across the country super fast, and they're the 4th largest carrier. They have to choose a lot more carefully about where to invest then the others.
If someone has a vibrant now, the g2 wil be irrelevant by the time they have to upgrade again. Should not be releasing phones so fast, imo.
Also I may etf my contact and move off android because the fragmentation and slow updates/buggy devices are unbearable.
Almost regret not staying on at&t and getting am iphone. This is ridiculous.

If you like locked down fancy looking feature phones and a barely working network then ATT is for you, and they'll gladly take your money, enjoy you iPhone 4, we don't care, it's your money
At the end of the day the real reason we're all with tmobile (don't lie) is because of their great plans/ pricing and awesome customer service. If that wasn't the case we'd be all on verizon. I think their approach with the vibrant/g2/faster network this year will play out very well for them.
I hate when people get offended if you tell your opinion about a company. Heygrl the way you reacted on the last page was childish. Grow up, I dont understand why people pledge loyalty to a company then act like blinded fanboys if you tell the truth about them.
T-Mobile obviously needs to step up. Whether they get this tablet or not isn't a dealbreaker for me. Especially if there is no wifi only version. However they need more phones, more high end state of the art phones. Verizon and Sprint are rumored to release 1.5 Ghz phones this year, they are not slouching. The G2's hardware will be completely obsolete by 2011, it will be a new generation of hardware. People seem to think this phone is the best ever because of HSPA+. What happens when you never reach those plateaus of speed and the first dual-core devices drop this year? Gonna feel buyers remorse huh.
It's also rumored that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S2 phone with a 2Ghz processor, 4gb of rom, 1gb ram, super amoled2 and 340ppi. Now THAT'S a revolution, but you ignorant fanboys would never see that because your devoted loyalty to a company makes you think the G2 will be the best phone ever. Such a joke...
HTC has a conference in a week or so, you think their best announcement will be the G2? Come on now. They are working on 1.5-2ghz phones, new battery and screen tech, and dual core devices.

Even though I don't always agree with Tmobile's business sense I do like their more conservative nature. I don't need 3-5 phones with 2ghz cpus and the latest greatest iPhone at the cost dealing with the stereotypical corporate giant. All I ask for is at least 1 -2 comparable smartphones (MyTouch Slide & Vibrant delivered beautifully), good customer service, and keep your hands out of my pockets. I think T-Mobile has done an outstanding job at doing this. Dealing with Tmo has been a personal experience as compared to dealing with AT&T which was the usual your-the-little-guy thing.
Tmo has left me in wonder plenty of times. Where I live just got 3g but they were trying to sell me a 3G phone prior to that? Why are you guys selling the MyTouch Slide for only $20 less then the Vibrant? Am I missing something there? You guys are rolling out 4G!? But... there's plenty of places that don't even have coverage, EDGE, or 3G yet? Just some of the things that make me scratch my head sometimes but in the end, AT&T and Verizon don't leave me with the satisfaction that T-Mobile does.
Personally I don't want or need 20 smartphones to choose from. Too many problems for the network, the consumer, and the manufactures which will leave more often then not unhappy under the quantity over quality method of thinking.
At the end of the day its your choice based on your experiences and opinion. And this is a forum where people voice experiences and opinion. Just wish people could be more civilized about it so that others can hear/read them without the annoying gibberish.
I guess the real reason that people are so upset with T-mobile is because T-mobile was the first with an android phone and the first with the Google Nexus One phone, and they have lost that crown.
After Sprint got the HTC Hero, T-mobile wasn't the only android carrier anymore, and when Verizon got the Droid, they decided to buy up 95% of the high-end android smart-phones for the next 1.5 years.
AT&T rode iPhone popularity to the top. T-mobile failed to do this with Android. Looking at Android growth & popularity, locking up a few high end exclusives over the next 2-3 years could have propelled T-mobile into 3rd place in terms of subscribers. If I were to guess, then I would say that this is the reason why the CEO got the boot.
T-mobile is not doing that bad...what they aren't doing is beating out the competition with any of their handsets. Everything they release is done bigger or better by another carrier.
Its not as exciting as a 4G release, or a heavily marketed branded line of android phones like Verizon does... but clear away the smoke and mirrors and you'll have to admit that T-mobile is probably tied for 2nd at best (with Sprint), or at worst 3rd overall on android handsets.
The only thing they are missing is a 4.3" high end device to be the definitive 2nd place android carrier.
As for being #1... it won't ever happen. Verizon has 3x the subscribers and charges 20% more for service. They have the cash to burn to stay on top in terms of handset selection.... which they pretty much have to because iPhone lovers will never leave AT&T until the handset is available elsewhere
For my Sprint 30 day guarantee. Tomorrow is the last day I can return my Evo and walk away without a termination fee. Im coming from Tmobile and have used just about all their phones and all iphones, and the Evo holds its own. I love the screen size, and its build quality. But the main thing ive liked is the 3g coverage, its no where near as fast as Tmobile in my area, but i do alot of highway driving and get 1mb plus everywhere. With Tmobile once i started getting away from the city it would drop to edge. I guess ill go play with tmobiles new Mytouch 4g and make my decision there. I just sold the g2 i had which i hated, but I still own my Vibrant and iphone 4 so i could always go back.
But so far what I Like:
Screen size!!!!!
Build quality!
Dual Flash
3g Coverage
Development support.
What I dont like:
Super amoled looks wayy better.
3g is slower but still fine (Evo= 1mb+ to Vibrant=5mb downloads)
Graphics Suck. Live wallpaper slows it down, and 3d gaming is barely playable
Sprints Customer service is no where near as good as Tmobiles.
Oh yeah after a talk with sprints retention departmnet, They waived my actication fee, and provided me with a credit of $50 since I mentioned the Evo could be acquired online for $150, just in order to keep my service. And right at the end when I mentioned I would continue to think about it, the rep offered me a $10 credit every month for the rest of the contract (24months). This would kick in on my next billing cycle.
My 27% discount would also kick in next bill, making my total bill $50 plus tax which is still a little more than if id return to tmobile
Kinda hard to argue with those discounts, not a bad deal right there.
But I can't understand how you like AMOLED screens more, YUCK! They always look odd to me, too blue or too vibrant and kind of pixel-y? They are more readable in some situations but still I think they look awful.
Not gonna lie... i really like the new myTouch. I am a fan of sense... also, hspa+ rocks in my area, and gsm is easier on battery than cdma. Add to that our wimax radios... lol, still love my evo though...
Is say they earned your business, man that makes me think I need to complain more..lol
The ten dollars off every month would more then compensate for the cost of the phone its self.

After having the Evo I just dont see how i can ever own anything smaller than a 4.3in screen. Ill more than likely stick with The evo untill sprint or another carrier releases a highend 4.3in that isnt lock down. I do love the phone, just wished it could handle graphics better.
With the discounts im getting and the coolness of the Evo ill probably stick to Sprint for now unless the mytouch4g blows me away, which at 3.8in I dont think it will.
Now the Nexus S/2 could be interesting.
I was happy getting a 23% discount from --removed by mod--
I am also of the opinion that you have way too much time on your hands. For someone who is trying to drive their price down to nothing, you sure have a lot of the more recent phones, that you clearly could have sold to make up for any cost of having a phone in general.
While I am also a former T-mo customer, I gave them my money for 10 years, but honestly I don't think they are offering the best phones this year. As for plans, everyone I know can't touch my 4G speeds. As for customer service, I think Sprint has done a pretty good job with you.
If your just here to get attention, then I'd recommend moving on to the (Insert Next Best Phone Name) forum. The EVO on Sprint 4G clearly is the winner. If you don't have 4G then I can understand your dilemma, but still I highly doubt that you have a T-mo Talk/Text/Data for less than $50. Hell, its probably not less than $70 if your including insurance on your phones.
Good luck.

First off, nothing wrong with having all the latest and greatest phones out, it's by far the best way to find out which phone you personally like best. If I could afford it I'd do it too.
Second, evo is hardly the winner. All phones have their downfalls and can be considered better than others in their own right.
My nexus can be considered better than your evo for a number of reasons.
1. Google owns android. Nexus is google's baby. It is also a developers phone.when android releases froyo, gingerbread, etc. who is the first to get it? Me. Have fun waiting months for yours to update, or for some samsung owners, possibly never.
2. I'm hitting 60 fps, enjoy your 30 fps. You may have a bigger screen but can't fully enjoy it. Playing 3d games on the evo is atrocious.
3. Sprints 4g service had been highly touted this I know. But recent testing done by cnet, which I consider highly reliable and non bias; shows in NY sprints 4g getting 2-3mb whereas tmobiles hspa+ getting 5-6mb and it's not even considered true 4g lol but it doubled sprints. Now of course mileage will very.
Don't get me wrong, evo is a great phone. it's like having a portable theater in your pocket. It took me about three weeks of intense research comparing top phones on all carriers to reach a decision. I was hesitant to get the nexus considering how old it is, released in january. But it still using the same processor as many off the newer phones including evo, the 1ghz snapdragon. Yes your chip has been updated but mines still faster lol. And I like using a developer phone and getting updates before anyone else. Some may consider updates not that big of deal but froyo increased browser speed up to 30%, not something I'd want to wait months for to enjoy.
Oh and I have to say I love the trackball. Comes in handy for selecting text or other tight spots while browsing. I can also have it blink different colors: red for missed text, blue for missed call, green for voicemail, orange for email, purple for low battery, works for notifications as well.
It's nice having all this information without even turning on my phone.
This is officially by far the longest thing I've typed out on my nexus, got to love swype lol.
The nexus one is outdated. No matter what you say. Gingerbread is rumored to come out Nov 11 and its main feature is an integtrated video chat app. Nexi don't have a front facing camera. So right there goggles baby will be handicapped with that feature. I love the nexus a year ago when it came out but data speeds aren't nothing to brag about especially if its a matter of seconds. I think the mytouch 4G is ugly, it has to much bezeling on the side. A trackball is not needed when you have a big a$$ screen. And super amoled screens have been known to burn-in the screens. All the features there's no other phone that has what the evo can offer.
Front facing camera
Kickstand
Unlockable
Sense (which is the next best thing to vanilla)
4g capable
Capacitive buttons
Skinny
Sexy looking phone
Your making a rant in the evo section , in perfectly happy with my evo. Of all the phones I've owned this is by the far the best. With features and functionality in account.

Yes the nexus has been out since jan that's already been stated. Thanks for that bit of info. But it still has the same processor as the evo, though an older version. Yet it is still overclocked much faster than your evo.
Front facing camera, unlockable (lol did you really list that?), htc sense (lol? Anyone can flash that), 4g, skinny (hardly, compared to other smart phones it's quiet bulky, hence the pocket theater)... All these features can be found on many phones...front facing camera is over rated I can do without. How many video calls have you made in the past month?
Trackball great for alerts I don't even have to turn on my phone to get notifications.
With that being said, I'm glad you are happy with your evo, enjoy
I actually use the front facing camera a lot. I chat with other evo and iPhone 4 users. Given the ratio its pretty thin. And what's wrong with using the same processor. You want a better processor then go to Samsung galaxy s series. Good luck with the gps on there tho. Humming bird processor blows everyone out of the water. When I mean unlockable I mean the boot loader is not on lock down. And not everyone phone can flash sense, DX or D2 can't. Which are the newer phones comparable to the evo. You were seriously contemplating leaving Sprint to go with t-mobile cause of data speeds in a restricted area. Kinda of ironic cause the only thing that you sound to be proud of on the nexus is the processor speed. Processor speed don't mean **** if you don't got 3G or WiFi connection. Edge sucks on tmo and ill take Sprints 3G even tho I have the same processor as your sexi Nexi.
Scoobasteves: Evo is just as fps unlocked as nexus, that's old news.

Are you in a bad mood man? Geez.
First I never tried driving their price down, I called about possibly porting my number and what the process is. The rep was the one asking questions and was being cool about wanting me to stay. So he offered me a discount.
And yes it's cheaper for me to go back to tmobile even with my 27% sprint discount. We have had a family plan with tmobile for 8 years, so adding my line back would only be $5 and an additional $30 for Internet.
Maybe I do have to much time in my hands, but I've never complained about prices or tried to brag about my phone being the best. I understand there are always new phones coming out and thankfully I have had the ability to try out a lot of them. I just like phones and the evo is among the best I have liked, but far from being a clear cut winner. I'm not one of those guys that think my phone is the best in the world and out down every other phone, i like to try out a lot of different phones if I'm able to, and enjoy it.
I guess I'll just enjoy my Evo and it's awesome screen size.
T-Mobile is a dying company I think, they gotta step up their game. They have lost 25% of revenue compared to last year.

I was not trying to badger the OP. As a matter of fact I am a former T-mo customer and was very happy with it.
Is the reason your plan a T-mo is cheaper because you are on a family plan there and not a family plan at Sprint? If thats the case then its apples to oranges.
To the Nexus Guy. It was a very good phone and I was seriously considering it when it finally became available on a plan rate. But that didn't happen till AFTER the Evo came out. I was on the phone with T-mo monthly to find out when that would happen. They could never give me an answer. So I took the plunge and got the EVO and never looked back.
T-mo's HSPA in my area is garbage. Seven guys I work (in Tampa) with have the Galaxy, and all of them claim 2-4Mbps. I get regularly 6.5Mbps. It may get better, but it isn't right now.
Processor? Seriously dude? if thats all you got with the Nexus, then you need to sit down. Developers phone? Seriously? Ever heard of Root? Oh yeah... all of T-mo's new phones are getting lock down. FPS? Spend more time on XDA preeze. Sprint unlocked it about 2 months ago. XDA did it even longer.
Nexus is a beautiful thing. But I am sorry, it is inferior to the EVO in about every possible way.
I've noticed everybody is very unhappy lately here in this great place most of us spend the majority of our day. So, let's talk.... what would make you happy? (REALISTICALLY)
What phone? What prices? What features on a phone? What features on a ROM? Etc.... Be as detailed as possible and keep it realistic!
Me? I would like a nice phone, doesn't have to be dual-core, that's just e-boner talk right now. 1.2Ghz+, 4.3'' screen, Gingerbread, full HD recording, hardware acceleration, a nice front camera with flash and some of the features from MIUI like visitor mode and a theme gallery. Oh yeah... and a ****ing trackball.
Honestly?! I just want my old discount and premier policies back and no $10 tax on non-4G phones. Basically, I want to go back to how things were not too long ago. I was really happy then.
I am patient enough for a new device. The EVO is making the wait quite enjoyable.

Quality also relates to money, and nobody can argue that Sprint is lacking. 4G so far has been a flop with Sprint. Coverage is lacking. And lately their hardware is on a downward spiral. They should be desperate... and with desperation, consumers should rule!

Dualcore

I get the folks hating on the mandatory $10 charge ... and the status changes ...
Plans, as they are - even with the $10 fee either way, are good with me. Seem to be in the minority that actually find this a plus. Feel like people want to complain just for the sake of complaining. The status hype, I get that one. That sucks. Maybe if they could do it so that if you spent a year with a "4G" phone than after said year was done, you could qualify for that upgrade everyone wants. The others have to deal. Sprint, in that regard, would need to straighten some ish up ... but that might go a ways for some. Regardless, plans seem to not be that bad IMO and I'd be happy / and will be happy with them. I don't be d over for anyone, mind you. Thankfully I'm not getting "raped" like some seem to think they are.
Good thread!
I'd like my yearly upgrades back, and my student discount to be applied to all lines again, not just the first two...But, REALISTICALLY, all it would take to make me happy would be non-suckass 200kbps down 3G speeds and it'd be nice if I actually received calls, not just got random voicemails hours later...it makes running a business fairly hard.
The past 3 months I've never seen over 200kbps down (except when I was in grand rapids, mi, then I got 2.3mbps down). The thing that gets me is, here locally, it's 200kbps down, but almost always at least 1mbps up, sometimes 1.5. I don't get it. It really pisses me off. Also, at times, some towers have 0 ZERO download, but upload works perfectly fine.
To summarize:
- At least 600kbps down on 3G
- Actually get phone calls, not just random voicemails
Perks to keep me around:
- Yearly upgrades (again)
- Student discount on 3rd+ lines
- Better 4G service (2 bars would be nice)
- No need for an airave at my house and office
I'm perfectly happy with my EVO, but will be switching back to att ASAP.
hmm, for me it would be.
preferably dual core (I truly believe this would make the UI function much much more smoothly)
candy bar phone with similar screen size to the evo and a nicer looking screen
unlockable bootloader with a full compliment of fastboot commands (or at least an engineering leak)
no fps cap
a 3D screen would be nice if they are far along enough to be worth it
more internal memory
Headphone jack
And of course updates...
4G, a replaceable battery and a sd card are all things that it must have before I even consider switching to it. The old sprint premier perks would also be nice since I've had the same phone number with sprint for over a decade yet they say I've only been a customer for something like 6 years
edit: ohh yeah, a rich blonde to go along with it would make me happy as well
The one thing that would make the Evo perfect would be a way to get the dust out from under the screen.
What would it take to make me happy? All the complainers to leave.
Sprint is working on their 4g coverage, patience is a virtue.
Sprint announced the Evo at CTIA, how about waiting for the next CTIA before freaking out like kids who don't think they're getting a bike for xmas, patience is a virtue.
The $10/month is probably what's funding more 4g in more areas more quickly. Charging it to non-4g phones is NONE OF OUR CONCERN, WE HAVE A 4G PHONE! Soon, it'll be everywhere, patience is a virtue.
People to understand that economies change and sometimes that doesn't suit our best interests. If you've got the money to jump **** and buy every brand new device that comes out on the market, then you're too rich for me to give a damn about your opinions. Open up an "I hate Sprint" forum and get the hell outta here. Some of us are getting sick of all this. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!
Being able to go pickup my Thunderbolt today would make me happy.

1. The above, plus plain vanilla android, with root access out of the box, and direct updates from Google.
2. My premier status restored. I am OK with not giving new customers the old perks, but they shouldn't be taken away from existing customers, kind of like having a grandfathered plan.
These two things would make me a very happy long-time customer. (Been with Sprint since '98, but only 7 years consecutive. Actually, I've never used another provider...I just didn't have a cell for 3 years).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948413
Id be happy if this rumored EVO 2 was true. That would pretty much take a huge dump on the Atrix, thunderbolt, bionic and every other phone that has been announced so far. That chipset gpu combo would be a techies wet dream literally. Just let it be true....we'll soon find out.
To be perfectly honest I am content with my Evo. I'm not really interested in what they are coming out with next being that I just got my Evo 2 months ago. My Hero held me over as long as it could and now the Evo will do the same. A few things I am not too happy about include the $10 extra premium for internet usage. I have never used enough data to justify paying extra. Maybe they should just charge the people who are always exceeding the data cap. I wouldn't mind paying it if I actually got respectable speeds and used it excessively. According to Sprint I am in an area with excellent coverage however never have a full signal. And like everyone else I would like the 1 year upgrades back.
And like ZeroGI, I want a forum specifically for all the one liner threads and complainers. I'm tired of 50 threads of bull**** before I can even get to the stuff I'm looking for. IMHO threads should need to be approved before they are posted.
if i could get 1 thing .. that will make me feel better about all the changes and charges.
if the data speeds would be closer to what is marketd. coverage, consistancy, and penetration.
3G higher than 1mb
4G higher than 5mb
currently it is **** slow for both .. and you are lucky if you can get 4G at all (in a 4G area).
I think if the Data speeds and coverage was better, then all the other crap is understandable and acceptable.
Phones will come out.. not a big concern like others here.
Price... inflation is a *****.. but what u going to do?

That's how I feel, and like I mentioned I wouldn't mind paying the extra prices for data if it was actually usable. I don't get 4G yet, hopefully soon. I find myself using WIFI from my home and various other locations while I'm out and about. I honestly have only used 306,000KB in my last month of service because it's so damn slow. I can't even tether because it's so slow.
I just don't get all the "stop the complaining" stuff. We pay good money to Sprint for our access to their network. Their is plenty of exciting stuff coming out for Android on the other three major carriers. Leaked and confirmed. Have you seen one leak regarding Sprint? Sure, I realize they may offer up something soon but where is the buzz to keep you engaged? They certainly created buzz with their "Industry First" announcement then they threw out a Tonka toy. Our provider of choice NEEDS to hear that we are informed customers who won't stand for BS like that and if nothing enticing is coming down the chute they are going to have a high turnover. Plain and simple.
I'd like my 3G speeds back. I use to be able to hit 1.6 Mbps going down on 3G with no problems just a few months ago. Now, I'm lucky to get 25% of that regardless of where I am or what time it is.
Maybe Sprint should upgrade their existing infrastructure to handle all the new customers they have gotten instead of spending so much money on 4G, Nascar, and paying David Blaine to show up at the release of that atrocious Kyocera phone.

Very commendable that you as well as others want to get the point across to Sprint however this isn't a Sprint complaint forum. If people want to tell Sprint how they feel they should write letters directly to them. Everyone on these forums has at least one gripe about our beloved network of choice and if we all started a thread to express those complaints that's all this forum would consist of.
Lots of people got their dreams come true on the nexus S with 4g anyone gonna get it? I sure am

It seems this one could be either the SPH-D600 or SPH-D720, both of which have recently received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, though the SPH-D720 is more likely; the D600 shows WPS support, which is available in TouchWiz-skinned devices but not in stock Gingerbread.

Not really, had to read it again, but they are assuming the Nexus S model number is most likely SPH-D720, since the D600 has WPS support which is only available for Touchwiz devices (WPS is not available for stock Gingerbread devices). That's what I got from reading that sentence.
So it has to be stock Gingerbread. Nexus named phones has been branded to be stock devices. So if they did put customized Android versions on a Nexus named device, then they will probably get a bad backlash from the community for it.

1) Nexus line doesn't get carrier bloatware. And sprint football is actually a great app.
2) I used a sprint wimax phone for 6 months. I don't care that its on sprint I care that Google is allowing our device to be superseded months after its release. We all know our phone should have had 4g to start with and u bought it as the premiere Google device under the impression that I wouldn't be ****ed by Samsung releasing a new version a few months later. Hopefully they take the time to add a second noise canceling microphone. Because the voice quality of the original nexus s was atrocious compared to the nexus one.
Pretty disappointing.. However, I remember reading a few weeks back when people were mad about the fact the original Samsung Vibrant was 3g and then they were releasing the 4g.. Samsung said that the original Vibrant was fully capable of 4g speeds.. So i'm wondering if its the difference of a radio ? I really dont know much about the technical aspects, im just repeating what I read.. I think it was on BGR.com..
Its funny though, I haven't purchased a samsung phone in years, then this came out and I jumped on it.. If this is the game google is going to play, iPhone 5 is going to be looking VERRRRRY attractive to alot of people, with polished build quality and little to no bugs.. Easy decision if you ask me.

You're exactly right. I played this game with Samsung on my Epic 4G and I bought a Nexus S because I wanted to feel like my phone was top of the line for more than a week and that was true of the Nexus One for a long time. It was stupid to release the Nexus S without HSPA+ support given that it the technology was more than available. I've been an Android guy from the beginning. I never wanted an iPhone but you know what? I'm starting to like the way regular updates and support for later iterations. You know what Apple does for people who purchase a current iteration of a phone close to when they announce a new one? They give them money back. What did Samsung do for Vibrant owners when they released the Galaxy S 4G (C'mon its a Vibrant 4G)? Nothing. They left them to twist in the wind and if Google is allowing that to happen to Nexus users here, I'm pretty done with the platform. I'm not paying money to a company that stopped caring about their current devices 10 minutes before they came off the line.
Its pathetic.

$80 per month on sprint or $50 on T-Mobile. I think I'll stick with T-Mobile. I quit sprint for this phone anyway, haha.
Also, I'd rather have T-Mobile 3g than wimax/cdma. Better battery life all around. And really guys, do you really need to download anything on a phone faster than 5-7 mbp/s?

To me its not about the download speeds or the money. I too came from Sprint to get this phone. Its a matter of moral standards and care for your customer base, which this move shows that Google cares about neither.

I can't figure out wth you're trying to say in that first line but I assume its something to the effect of you can't stop progress and I'm not asking that. I'm asking that they not release a phone with certain features and with certain features lacking then release the same phone with the features it lacked a few months later. There is no "progress" progress here. Sprint's first WiMax phone was released in July of last year; 9 months ago. Tmobile's first "4G" phone? November 2010; 5 months ago. Verizon was behind the curve but they are using completely different technology. When the Nexus S was announced there was already one semi-4G phone (T-Mobile G2) and one full 4G phone (T-Mobile MyTouch 4G). Where is the "progress" in releasing the same phone with a feature that already existed. If they released a Nexus 3 with dual core, sure I'd be angry that they announced it a mere 2.5 months after the previous iteration was announced but it would be a different phone. This is the exact same phone with feature that should have been released with the original added in for ****s and giggles. Its not "butthurt", its moral indignation. The same moral indignation I'm sure Vibrant owners felt because that was just as bull**** a move.
And how is this a faster phone? Its literally the exact same phone? Am I "butthurt" it didn't come with a dual core? No. I think its a little silly but I still love my phone, or loved I should say. Am I "butthurt" that the Galaxy S 2 does have a dual core? Or that the G2X is dual core? **** no. I chose this phone because I thought it would be supported for at least 6 or 7 months and this is a pretty ****ing clear indication that Google doesn't give a flying **** about the current user base.
Oh, and WiMax sucks. Its by far the worst implementation of "4G" and the company pushing it out (Clearwire)is in pretty significant financial trouble as is the company paying for the services (Sprint). Verizon and T-Mobile have much better existing coverage for their "4G" and have higher speed potential with existing hardware. There is no progress here, its just shafting a bunch of users for a feature that should have been included to begin with.

Get over it man. It's not a big deal, even in principe. I've bought 3 phones in a year (n1, g2, ns) so I am definitely not one to sit idly while my phone ages and be complacent with it. I just like gadgets. But this is just the way this industry works. I personally don't care if my ns supports hspa or hspa+. You'll never notice the difference in day to day unless you download gigabytes of data a day. Tmo supposedly caps you after 5 anyway. (i usually only use about 300M/mo because I jump on wifi every chance I can.
Also, google isn't dropping 'support' for this phone just because sprint us getting a 4g version. On the contrary the 'platform' is widening. Did the at&t version that passed fcc have hspa+?

I've owned four phones in the last 6 months (MT3G, Epic 4G, Evo 4G, NS all of them bought in the last year the last three in the last 6 months). You'll never see the difference between 3-5MBps and 20+MBps in daily use? Really? Typically, it takes my laptop (on comcast cable) less than a second to load the Engadget website whereas my phone takes 5, sometimes 10 seconds to load the same page on 3G. On WiMax (with a theoretical topspeed of 20MBps but it runs more frequently around 10MBps) it loads around the same time. On T-Mobile's HSPDA? It would be faster than on my computer. Sure, I'm on WiFi a good portion of the time but when I'm not it is often painfully slow trying to do anything.
For example, the other day my wife was getting fed up with Swype while she we were both at work. She wanted to use the keyboard I use (a modified gingerbread keyboard) so I tried to email it to her but the 5.25MB file just sat in my phones outbox for 20 minutes. So I decided to upload it to my dropbox which took an astonishing 7 minutes. I know the area I was in had 4G coverage and I know if I could have been on 4G it would have been almost instant. Its not progress its just bull****. Sell them a phone without a feature they want then release it again with the new feature and get them to buy it again. Its ethically wrong.

You mean they are a corporation trying to make money and not spending millions to give the world a big gift? If you ask me, no android is not prefect, what is? Nothing. It's better than the alternatives for my needs and tastes. If google has an agenda to try to turn a profit with it, they are no different than any of they other companies.

Saw this as a comment on an androidcentral post about the within:
Listen up and listen good cuz I don't lie or play when it comes to this stuff... Sprint Is kicking but this year and will continue that but kicking like none of you can imagine. I am a sprint employee work at the West Hollywood Store in CA. It's the flagship store for the west coast Dan Hesse frequents our store device's come through our store sometimes up to 5 months before a rumor about it hits the internet. This is a HUGE year for sprint if you understand business in the least bit you know corporate change takes time. If you can't see the changes sprint has made and continue to make for the better than your just blind or don know what to look for. I know some of you may call me bias and your right I am. But only to one thing and that's customer experience. I love that SPRINT by maintaining is price plans is forcing AT& T and T-Mob todo stuff like the 70 dollar unlimited data even if it is capped. Yes thee above pic is the GS2 i've held it. YES it will be 4G yes we are getting a keyboard version as well as the standard GS2. Yes that phone will also be 4G and dual core not single core. The its not for certain it will be the epic2 or called epic at all. Yes the GS2 is a vicious competitor for the Evo 3D from personal experience I still think the Evo 3D is better. I prefer sense over touch anything I trust htc more than samsungs when it comes to mobile anything and the internal update system htc uses not having to wait for sprint like the last two patches they did for the 3d speaks volumes. Add htcsense.com to that and better build quality and you begin to edge out the competition. Admittedly not by much with the GS2 but still its an edge. As far as the YouTube comparisons of the GS2 to the Sensation to gauge it again the 3D, don't make me laugh the 3D itself makes the sensation look the same way. In no way am I denying the amazingness that is the GS2 I just PREFER htc that's all. Last but not least the GS2 is really really fast it was a tad and I do mean a TAD faster than my 3D but..... My Evo is jam packed 6 email accounts syncing about 80 apps 7 custom scenes setup the whole 9 and the GS2 was but naked not even signed into a gmail account. I say that today this when you watch these comparison vids take into account what may or may not be on the devices in question in terms of data info etc... Once you get these devices in hand your speed milage Will vary depending on how much you throw at your device. It's a good time to be with sprint I'm not even going to get into the improvements happening to the network ill save that for another post. And oh yeah in case you were skeptical on the matter we are absolutely getting the iphone so tell all your apple juice drinking buddies that VZ and AT&T's are numbered it'll be here before you know it. The real question is will it be 4G and honestly even I don't have that answer................ Yet. PS if your in the LA area and you want to switch to sprint I can give you 125 dollar port in credit... Yes we pay YOU 125.00 bucks to KEEP your number give me a shout PM me. Duece

I trust nothing of what that guy wrote. Everytime someone claims to have advanced knowledge they are wrong completely. Why the eff would sprint bring rumored phones around a retail store before they are even announced? That just makes no sense. I have dealt with enough sprint employees who "have the scoop" and turn out to be collosal nitwits before to believe that some random sprint store employee got the scoop on sprint getting the iphone.
I do think he is a sprint employee though because every sprint employee I have ever dealt with is a huge fanboy of the evo.

I haven't heard the details he has shared, but my corp rep brought the regional network rep out who knows all the tech updates and all the phone releases. He said the biggest thing sprint has in the pipe is the network updates. Everyone is getting phones, they are rolling out new tower hardware making speeds, signal quality and increase the number of clients able to hit the servers. He told me it would be a 2 year rollout, but we had 36 tower updates last month. He said there are about 40 new devices rolling out and they would rock!
Ill buy what that guy was selling

"Let's eat, grandma."
"Let's eat grandma."
Punctuation saves lives.

"I helped my uncle jack off a horse."
"I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse."
So does capitalization.

I work for a regional electronics and appliance chain, that is becoming a full device sprint dealer this fall. At a training event for sales reps the sprint trainer brought up an iphone 5 variant for sprint a few times. Interesting to hear it from this guy as well. Although if I had to guess, they are both misreading it, and all we are likely to see is the new prepaid iphone version coming out for virgin.

I hate when people say the EVO 3d is a better phone than SG2 even though across the board SG2 eats 3d. Granted htc sense 3.0 is sexy, but MIUI is better
Sprint's overall phone lineup is strong with or without the iPhone. It has been for a while. The issues are that they have to quickly maintain and improve their network and hold prices and plans to the attractive level they are now. I don't believe in corporate hype, I believe in underpromising and overdelivering. Sprint did that in the years I've been with them.
Now they have to continue so they can grow and poach away customers who get sick of being robbed by Verizon and AT&T. But without the network that's going to be even harder to do. Take my neighborhood for example--coverage here is poor, Sprint probably has no customers other than people like me who figured out how to force roam, or those who have Airaves. And it's doubtful any new towers are planned, so they better get busy on these network improvement miracles, because reasonably priced unlimited 4G makes no difference to those who can't get it.
