Syndicate's Shuriken ROM - E-Mail & SMS issue - Epic 4G General

I'm running Syndicate's Shuriken ROM, and for the most part, I like it. I've found two problems since I've been using it, which may or may not be ROM related. One is in e-mail, any time I've tried to attach a file, the e-mail app FC's. Not really a huge deal, since I don't often attach things on my Epic, but it's there. The other I noticed this weekend, is incoming SMS message timestamps are an hour ahead of actual time, outbound have normal timestamps, so messages aren't threaded properly.
I started with a bone-stock, freshly Odin'd DI18 ROM, and installed the Shuriken ROM, and from there, installed my various apps and settings either from the Market or from apk files. The ONLY other thing I've done to it was installed a battery gauge "theme" that changed how the battery gauge displayed.
Has anyone seen these issues, and/or have any thoughts on a fix?

Should probably post this in the thread for the rom instead of creating a whole new thread for this

Calendar issues

I've noticed this problem on my wife's non rooted stock 2.2 inc and when I was running Virtuous 2.5: Google calendar seems to be broken by htc in froyo. I can create events but when I go to edit them it very briefly looks normal and then all editable options disappear like it becomes read-only.
Does Virtuous 2.6 have a fix, or is there anything else I can try? If not might load up Ruby on her phone so she can at least use her calendar as designed. I imagine it'll be quite a while before HTC provides a fix, seeing as how they are still rolling out froyo.

I saw that a workaround is to start with the agenda view and do a long-press to edit, so it's not the end of the world. Still curious if there are any fixes but it's not worth going thru a new rom for.

There's another bug that's even more annoying. When you edit an event, the description field gets overwritten by the where field. Does
Anyone know of a workaround?

I like the edit bug that changes your date on you to the following day, yay missed appointment.
Well mine is skipping ever other month until you reverse direction.

I haven't had any issues. Then again I am not using the HTC calendar. I'm using a couple apps from the market- Agenda, Jorte, Calendar Pad all seem ok.

[Q] Are there any apps to invert colors?

Hello.
I am rooted, using the stock rom.
Is there an app to invert colors on SMS, and say, Internet application?
Example: White letters, black background.
Don't know about stock but cyanogen roms has this feature built in.
Handcent SMS will let ya do that for your text
Thanks guys, I checked out both, tried CM7 a few weeks back, but was too glitchy on my phone, and things weren't working. I wil try it again in a few weeks after they have some more dev time.
Many messaging apps from the market let you customize the appearance or apply themes. I personally like GO SMS.
if you tried CM7 a few weeks ago and it was too glitchy for you, the latest CM7RC2 was dropped this week also TeamRoyal just dropped the latest version of RoyalGinger and they are both super stable and very quick TR:RG is definitely faster and so far more stable for me.
Wooooo! Thanks for the heads up on GO SMS, and also, thanks for the updates on the ROM's Raven, I am checking both out now!
Question... This is only a customization locally, right? I realize that fonts and other formatting would not appear in the recipient of sms, but with inverted text, I imagine there may be ways (and certainly using apps which are mutually installed) that the recip could get the sms inverted too....without the recipient needing to install anything.

There's Javascript for that
That problem appeared a long ago, and one guy made a javascript for doing this, inverting colors in a browser; no root needed, just add his page as a bookmark, and use it, whn you want
tonymuka.com/js (i am kinda new here; not allowed to post links, and stuff)
Also, I heard Boat browser have this function..

Blandroid on N1

I just noticed, blandroid rom on the rom manager menu, has anyone tried it on N1? I'm using cm7 Rc4 and I know you'll all say stick with it, but I'm still curious.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. It says it's a stable 2.3.3 with no bloatware. Sounds very intriguing...in fact so much so that I downloaded it, but have yet to flash it...lol.
Certainly tempting isn't it, is this a case of who goes first lmao, out of interest how big is it? I notice the cm7s are just over 80 mb.

Seems like a plain stock ROM, nice to see to be honest.
Noticed the same thing, but was wondering what all it supports, site doesn't say much. I.E. what kernel it has/supports, TB alert stuff like that.
Hopefully the dev comes and explains what all he's done.
Well, I flashed it, for like an hour then when back to cm7 using the recovery I made.
First thing, market didn't work.
Secondly it didn't have the extra apps cm7 has, which I expected, but I instantly missed theme chooser.
Thirdly it wiped my contacts list.

First. The market issue is probably a wipe issue as I had the same problem with two different MIUI GB ROMs.
Secondly. That would be the lack of bloatware mentioned above. It's like stock android, so not sure why you even flashed it if you wanted bloatware.
Thirdly. It didn't wipe your contact list you didn't sync with google, becaue all of your contacts are backed up there.
You know what, I knew that'd be the replies I got, to be honest I'm curious of any rom that 1might increase battery life, currently using 85% over 10hours!! And of course the dreaded wonk which is seemingly inherent with cm7.
I couldn't force Google to sync with my phone, all my contacts are stored with Google you're right there.
Btw how would I get the market back?

I think it is another keyboard app. When you go to change the keyboard, it lists something in all Asian symbols.
I just deleted it and I have not noticed any difference with how blandroid runs.
The wonk was almost fixed on latest release of cm7. If you don't have the latest version, try it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Nearly fixed isn't fixed. The problem is really dragging out and these stock ROMs are showing that its fixed with them. Wonking isn't the only issue at the moment either. There is still problems with the sound levels after docking the phone sometimes where its maximum level is halved etc.
CM is an ace project and I truly respect the guys and their efforts behind it, but CM7 is very buggy, and when it starts to affect the ability to take calls its hard to use it.
Oh! Thx for the reply. I got scared and ran back to cm7

What sort of battery life do you get and is there good support from the Dev?
I could go for no wonk

I like!
Went for this until the CM stable kills the wonk; now I may not go back. I haven't used it for long enough to know about stability. I think of it as pure AOSP, but already rooted (and a just a few essential CM goodies).

So far, I haven't found anything missing I need.
And if you want a bit more eye candy and customization, just install launcher pro or adw.launcher from the market.
I give it thumbs-up!

Bug in commrom 2.0, can't post in the development

One of the last posts state about not being able to use the back button from contact, I'd like to second that and see if we can get a patch.

works for me...if you dont have a logcat of it theres nothing we can do
K, I'm going to update my cwm first and redo the rom, I can see that being a bug trying to flash it in red. other then that I've not ran into a problem. Seems to be runnign flawless. I'm also going to do the otb 1.6 update as well since there seems to be alot of praise with the two working well together.
updated to the cwm version 3.0.2.8.x.ti, everything appears to be workign as normal including my back button. Had an issue with intial boot fc's but oh well they seem to have worked themselves out with a reboot.
It's not a bug... I bet you use launcher pro.. Delete the default contacts shortcut from the home screen and create a new one. It's a bug in lp.
good day.
LMAO, you are exactly right. I just redid the shortcut and wala. Ohwell, Thanks Chopper I appreciate it And I'm a big fan of LP, I'm a minimalist on my home screen, I enjoy the dock.
Oh... and Bubbles is my favorite

How does this belong in Q&A? This is clearly not a question.
This has been an issue for me as well going back to ComRom 1.0 but I seem to have fixed it by removing both the contactsprovider.apk and contacts.apk one at a time while trying to load contacts (one it force closes and the other it's not there) and after replacing them it seems to be fixed even after a reboot.
Will update with any changes if there are any.

Pro or lite normally just a reboot will let you download
is someone already on the 12/8 build? >is it working fine?...am on 5/12 so far the only issue is the sms failure message,..and i was having a hard time getting tether to work but thanks to "JhoonB51" in some earlier posts, finally got it to work. I did the SQlite Editor fix, if anyone is having trouble getting tether working just download SQlite Editor "got to be rooted" then go
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db then enter the database "global" then change the value of field "tether_dun_required" to 0, if is not there just make a new one., name it tether_dun_required, value 0......reboot the phone and done
it worked for me!
I tried the 12/8 and still had sms error notifications. I revereted back to 4.2. My bigger concern is the miscellaneous battery drain. I seem to still have that even after removing nfcnci with System App Remover.

Roaming Issue
I have heard one or two people post about CM12 automatic roam setting reverting to Home Only. I have had that problem but not just on this ROM. I was wondering if very many phones are having the problem since it does not seem to be mentioned very often.
The miscellaneous battery drain has disappeared for me. The NFC shouldn't be causing it any more. If you don't use NFC, just disable it in Settings. I think there might be a wakelock from Bluetooth. You may want to try turning that off and see if it helps -- assuming you use it.

Thanks! I thought I was going nuts.
bluetooth is still a little buggy with the latest 12/09 post. moto 360 fails to connect and bluetooth still messes with wifi.
SMS issues with hangouts, just want to verify that those that have it are changing hangouts to the default SMS app. My case is a little different and works fine as I'm using google voice integration with Sprint, so I'm not actually using the app, though i did get the message failure until i changed the default SMS app to hangouts.
Confirmed error when using hangouts as default sms app with my Sprint cell number. I believe but cannot confirm 100% that I did not have the problem using hangouts not set as default using my G Voice number.

Ignore my post wrong thread.
Hello, is there a changelog for today's build? 12/10, this rom is my daily driver am following every single update,..thanks
Same for me I'm following every single update and flashing it, i would like to know for when estimated we will be received a version of lollipop with customization options like aopk roms? Like dpi changer, themes etc!?
Thank you for all the work done for this model!! Which in my opinion still has a lot to offer!!
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can look at the merged CM commits here or the open (pending) ones here. If you look at the main ROM page, you'll see the cutoff of CM's GitHub for my most recent build, so you can see what patches/features have been included in it. You can also see what cherry picked patches I am including -- those are almost entirely for better device support.
There is still a bit of work to do to get a stable base for CM12, but I'm sure after that there will be a lot more features.

Home Button doesn't wake device
I recently flashed the latest version of your ROM, but I can no longer use the home button to wake the device. Is there any way to fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Voicemail
I know this sounds stupid but I no longer seem to have the voicemail app. How do you access voicemails? I don't even get a notification.
I found the stock Sprint VVM APK in another thread.
this rom s awesome. as soon as the sms bug is fixed this will be my daily driver. great job
