i did read a post about PIT file. Always 512 MB. That`s the memory RAM quantity.
But RAM memory is only for runnig state. Then, in off state, the data (/system, /dbdata, /cache ...) are in somewhere.
My question is if that place is in sdcard, in the partion of 2 GB over the total 8GB of the memory card. And then, while booting, the SGS used that 2GB like a ROM.
Thanks
Correct me if I'm wrong but the sdcard is mounted by the android system wich one is on an internal memory so if you'd wanted to run a ROM from the sd, if you manage to, you will need a system that mount the sd as first drive but why would you do that ?

Hey,
Yh, I know: another app2sd+ question...
Tried using the search button, but did not find what I was searching for
I'm using the TyphooN CyanogenMod7 RC2 v2.5.5 ROM on my HD2 and was running low on internal memomy and used to send apps to my sd card, but some wouldn't not work and my internal memomery was low on memory.
So I decided to partition my 8GB scandisk sd card:
6.7 gb FAT32 en 800mb ext2
After I did that, I used a clean instal of TyphooN CyanogenMod ROM and everyhting works .
When I go to applications and then applications managing, I see that my internal memory is just 244 mb and my external memory 6.5 gb.
But what I don't understand :
Who do I move downloaded applications from my phone to the ext2 partition on my sd card instead on the fat32 partition ?
Does this (moving to ext2 partition) happen automatically when I download apps and move them to the SD card ?
The ext partition is considered internal, so if you manually move an app to the SD card, it will go from the ext partition to the fat partition and many wont work. When you have an ext partition you don't need to do anything. The rom will use the ext itself.
When you look at internal memory size it wont show the ext space, only the actual internal space. Say you instal a ten Meg app, that figure goes down ten even though its installed to ext, but it will go back up ten next reboot.
Thank you very much !
That was very clear, didn't find this somewhere else
I have an ext2 partition on my sd card and it is mounted under /data/sdext2 ,i have Kyrillos 3.3 rom but i dont know if a2sd works(free memory is low).
How can i confirm that, and use it?

I think it doesnt work in ext2 partitions! Make an ext4. You can see if it works with titanium backup on the first page, below it has the sdcard, internal and sdcard (a2sd)

it shows me
internal 201mb (60 free)
ds card 7gb (6.1free)
sdcard(a2sd) 219mb (17.7 free)
ext sd card7gb (6.1 free)
so probably it does not work with ext2.
First you must have a2sdfroyo it is availaibal in the market. It works on rooted phones only . Chek the case of external . With kyrillos i think you must have also ext4 partition in your sd card . It works with me very well
install some applications then go to titanium backup and move app to internal
make so after that
Internal storage full despite of big ext4 partition
Hello, I have a similar problem. I'm now running Kyrillos 4.0 and have a 1GB ext4 partition on the SD card.
In Titanium backup I can see that some apps were installed to the A2SD partition, but there is still plenty of space left on it.
Now my phone run out of internal storage and I can't install any more apps. Moving all apps to SD and back to internal with Titanium didn't help.
So how can I fill the A2SD partition and prevent apps from being installed to the internal storage?
Titanium backup says: Internal memory: 26.2 MB free; SD: 1,84 GB free; A2SD: 708 MB free.
Android system says: Warning, low space, Internal memory: 15,29 MB free !
Something is wrong and I don't understand...
where should the 2nd partition be mounted to work with a2sd automatically?
I have the exact same issue here. I've partitioned the sd with ext3 and now I have no internal memory left. I've got 280MB left on a2sd partition. Going into applications and moving what ever I can do SD doesn't change internal memory a single byte....
KYRILLOS, all the BEST for your EXAMs
As a new user I'm not allowed to post in the development forum (I would have preferred to do this just by a reply in your ROM forum)....
Thank's a lot!!!! Your WORK's making me love my phone.
Looking forward to more than "ohhhh, just mms app changed in 5.6?", which I've seen in the forum....
Go onn that way!!! And one more THANK YOU!
Hi,
I have a NAND ROM (EnergyROM) flashed to my EU-HD2.
In this the /data is mountet to internal Mem and /sd-ext is mountet to the ext3 partition on my SD-Card.
in /data there is a symlink app->/sd-ext/app. So i mean the internal memory is not used for installed apps because of the symlink. Apps should installed directly to SD-Card.
The total memory of /data is ~212MB
Now my question:
1) why show me the GUI an free internal memory of 99MB after install some apps, even through stored on /sd-ext/app.
Ryker
reboot teh device, check again. when u install,. it knocks the space off teh internal mem, then adds it again after a reboot.
Now, after one day, the free space is at 119MB. I have nothing changed or rebootet.
Sometimes is waiting the best resolution

Hi, my internal storage (1 GB) is only 200 MB free. Someone say that I should clear the /data/lost+found folder, but i am not able to access /data with any file manager. How can I recover internal storage space? It happened after installing Android 2.3.5; i haven't much applications...
Thanks, Max
It seems to me that you are in error ...
1 - The internal memory is 2GB sd in U8800
2 - That you say have free memory is memory for rom, hence only 200Mb free ...
To see the 2GB you have to root the phone, and oh yes, after that Can you see in file manager real internal sd memory.
Excuse my bad writing

Hi Bruno, I don't think to be in error.
I can see a 1,56 GB memory (it is the /sdcard, the internal sd card, completely free)
I see a 4 GB memory (it is the /HWUserData, my external microsd card)
Finally there is a 1 GB memory, that is called "internal archive" and someone say that it is the /data (NAND or ROM)
I think I have to access /data to free some memory. I will try ES File Explorer with root permission... the I will update the post.
Thank you very much for you answer.

Ok, I understand.
Or you should have repartitioned the memory ... usually because the dimensions in which the U8800 are told ... Sd 2GB internal memory and a 600MB rom ... if you have 1Gb 1.5Gb and re-broke is because the memories!!
Or your phone is not the U8800 ... is another model (U8800 or U8800 PRO-51) that have 4GB of internal memory ... check behind the battery the actual model ...
Again excuse my bad writing! Google translator, lol

I say this from being another model, because the folder is HWUserData which is usually the internal memory ... to the micro sd is the external sdcard folder!!
I have MIUI 3.5.10. After flash this rom, my internal memory's available space is 6 mb. I have 1gb ext3 partition. Can i define it as internal memory?
There is lots of scripts but i don't want to move any data or app folder to ext, i just want to increase my internal memory with ext partition. Sorry for my English.

Thats the thing, increasing internal memory IS in a sense moving stuff to the ext. Just go to the post in my signature and read it through. Its really easy and you will be mounting the ext partition as you internal memory. it will be 'defined' as the internal memory

But when i use these scripts on this rom to move app or data to ext, phone is stuck on bootanimation.

Found that I don't have init.d support, so stuck on bootanimation. I tried your advice, activated init.d support and flashed INT2EXT+. It worked but it is too slow. I mean really really slow and i can't use wifi and some stuffs. I think because of script is moving app data etc. I just need a script, just mount ext as internal memory.
