[Q] Need help-> Deleted my phoneprovider.apk - Desire HD General

Hello guy's
Yesterday i perm rooted my desire HD.
I was whiping off some demo's and accedently i deleted the proneprovider.apk
The phone boots normal till the lock screen, until i unlock it.
Then i get the error :
The application Phone (process com.android.phone) has stopped unxepectedly
please try again

I can start the phone in recoverymode (means power down the phone, hold vol lower button and start the phone.
But in this case, i can't connect through the usb connection.
What did i tryed?
- Factory reset, did not help
Also, i'am new to android. But i have the SDK installed.
So my questions to you guy's
1. Can someone upload PhoneProvider.apk (system/app/)
2. When i got the file, how do i put it back in /system/app
Specs:
HTC Desire HD
Android 2.2 Froyo
Vodafone
Or is it better to go back to the vodafone store, tell them my phone is 5 day's old and it broke.
And then hope to get a new one.

Have you tried a factory reset? Or if that fails you could try running one of the Official RUU's.
You will lose root & S-OFF if you apply an Official RUU.

How can i apply a Official RUU?

do you mean telephoneyprovider.apk cause i can give you link to download then you can adb push it to /data/local/
and rewrite to the system
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
busybox cp /data/local/telephoneyprovider.apk /system/apps/
or you can install ruu/flash a custom rom
let us know if you want the link
sorry this won't work as you dont have s-off so you can't write to the sysytem

ok it finds your phone now just trying to find suitable ruu

I just want the official HTC Desire HD RUU.
Where can i find this and how to install this?
ok i found the files here:
http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
Wich one i have to choose?

this uk vodafone ruu ,download it and just run the ruu from pc
don't use its for the desire only sorry

Try flash other rom, factory or custom rom.. You will get apps back when you commit reflash. You should find all system applications in your phone, if you are not deleted apps in system app folder.
I live in Finland and my default
rom was Vodafone branded. I recommended to flash another wwe rom because the "fastboot" will take time approximately one minute, it is Slow and it has stupid apps..

Or how can i install this one:

I have already rooted my phone, and my hloader is flashed to a other one.
I used those files to root my phone:
www.brantje.com/hdroot/

try the 1.32.405.6 ruu (.exe file not the zip file) first

Try to shutdown your phone and press both volume buttons and press power button. Hold volume buttons until you see hboot menu.. Try go to recovery and flash for example Android revolution 1.9..
You can find it from HDHD development, xda..

How to push files through ADB

Prerequisites have...
A:android-sdk-windows installed
B: (on your phone) go to menu>settings>applications>developement and make sure usb debugging is checked.
C: the file you are pushing must be placed in the tools folder of adb so if you are pushing file "build.prop.txt" this needs to be downloaded/copy and pasted in C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
1: go to run and type cmd (or just open your command prompt)
2: cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
3: adb remount
4: adb devices *if everything is set up right this should output a serial number*
5: adb push FFFFFFF.FFF /#####/###### *i hope my notes help here you need to put the file name in for the F(s) and in the pound signs you put the destination on the devices example adb push build.prop.txt /system/bin
6. repeat step 3 for multiple files
7. adb reboot this is how you finish

Welcome to XDA and Android! Are you trying to get help for your Nexus One? This forum here is specifically for the HTC Hero CDMA.

i had the same issue with something i was trying to push. I think you need to make sure you have exactly the same file name like caps and all. i was trying to push rootexplorer.apk and i got the same message but i then changed it to RootExplorer.apk and it work.(notice the difference in caps)

Make sure your have the drivers for your phone installed first of all.....Then, in your command prompt you have to change directories to the sdk (which you made harder by not installing to C:\
Try: cd Program Files\Android\android-sdk\tools
Then type: adb devices
That should return "xxxxxxdevice" connected....Then you know you have it set up.
Look in kyouko sig he has all the commands for adb

Flashing fresh ROM via ADB in Linux
Hello there.
M volumeUp and VolumeDown buttons are broken on my rooted Desire HD, so I cannot go through CWM any longer.
With regard to this post, I would ask the followings:
1) can this method be used to flash a new ROM (i.e. Coredroid, Leedroid..) without the need of those 2 buttons ?
2) My PC runs Linux. How does it work with this O.S. ?
Thanks

There is a thread somewhere on how to flash without a SD card and flashed using adb I believe, but don't take my word for it. Adb works fine with Linux, just have to set it up differently. Look in my sig and select the compile aosp on Ubuntu one and follow instructions on getting the USB set up.

Hi I need help. I accidentally wipped my phone in CWM and now I'm trying to use adb push to push the update.zip into my phone sd everything seems to work but then in CMW it says there are no files..
any suggestions?
[Edit]
nevermind
I kept trying different locations
not sure which one did the trick but I'll list the one's I tried
so \update.zip /sdcard/
.... /sdcard/update.zip
(note I put "/update.zip" thinking maybe it needed to be reallocated to the same file/destination
Can i use adb push *.apk /system/app to push several files at once, and then repeat but using *.odex instead of *.apk? I keep ending up getting the same error, and i want to find out which app is messing with me...

I downgraded my Legend from the OTA 2.2.
Now the ROM version is 1.31 which should be correct, but the HBOOT version still is 1.00, which is according to this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746454 ) the wrong one, it should be 0.43.... any ideas on this one?
Edit: @MontseCat: have you installed your USB drivers? The come with HTC Sync from the HTC homepage. Otherwise you can check adb functionality by opening a console window, running 'cd C:\Absolute\Path\containing\adb.exe\' (for Windows users, I guess Linux users know how to use cd) and then 'adb devices'. This should show a number refering to your device, opposed to simply nothing if it is not working.

No, that was just my problem at first when I had to move to a Windows PC for the downgrade, adb requires HTC Sync. So you should be fine.
But now that I read your problem again, my solution would not even fit I guess your tools directory does not contain the adb.exe. But the directory platform-tools in the android-sdk folder does. I just copied over the contents of the hack zip to platform-tools and did it from there... what ever, now I am having the problem i described above...

- Temproot with VISIONary r13 (install the downloaded file as per a normal APK)
- Once you are temprooted, connect via 'adb' and do 'su' (to get root) then '/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img'
You should then be able to downgrade in the normal way.

even with this guide I didn't succed!!!
What I done is just temporary root with visionary then run again the adb but remains the same,
sorry I don't see where lost!!
In the following I will assume a Windows-PC:
1. Restart your phone to start from scratch, make sure 'TempRoot on boot' (or sth along this line...) is NOT checked
2. Run the crackin.bat, which you put (along with all other files in that download) into the directory containing the adb.exe (which is, at least for me, the platform-tools directory)
3. when it fails (it will), TempRoot using VISIONary, leaving everything unchecked (no System Read Write, even if that seems like a good idea)
4. on your PC, go to a Terminal (Windowsbutton + R, enter 'cmd' without quotes, press enter) , navigate to the folder crackin.whatever is in using the cd command like in my following example, but with the correct, full path
Example: 'cd "C:\\Programm Files\Android\andorid-sdk\platform-tools"' (again, without the single quotes (preserve doublequotes))
5. in that same Terminal Window, enter 'adb shell' (again, without quotes). The prompt should change to a dollar sign. Then enter 'su' (you know, without quotes...), and when the prompt changes to a '#', the TempRoot was successful and we can resume. Make sure to leave that Terminal open, you can use it again when rooting.
6. On a Windos System (32bit preferred) run the RUU.something.exe and follow these steps.
7. follow the main rooting guide, in which you will have to open a Terminal Window in the directory you unzipped. This is done with the same method I described above (opening cmd, 'cd' command)
I hope this makes it more clear =)
Edit: btw, this is a full guide, feel free to pick out the stuff you need, because I really did not understand what your problem was =) as a rooting guide I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746454

instal drivers?
look to the 2nd rooting method i posted. the 2nd file you download are the drivers. you would install it when your phone is in fastboot mode then go to device manager and upgrade the driver
unzip the rar file and make sure to select x86 or x64 driver for your pc.
you should be able to type "fastboot devices" hit enter and it will return your phone if you have the drivers installed
Also the simplest method to get the drivers might be to put phone into fastboot mode, plug USB to computer, then install PDA Net (which automatically installs the phone drivers). I personally could not get the drivers to install manually on Windows 7, had to use the PDA Net method.

Try this: (I am assuming you've already finished rooting and installed superuser)
run adb shell
that should give you a "$" prompt in your command window (you've just shelled into your phone)
then type "su" (without the quotes)
On your phone, a superuser request should pop up on the screen, hit Allow
Your command prompt should change to a #
then type
dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd5 of=/sdcard/ns-cdma-radio.img count=12583040
*EDIT: made a typo in the original writeup of this post and left out the count parameter*
(no adb shell required before the dd command this time since you're already shelled into the phone)
here it is

7. Once installed, open ROM Manager app and choose Flash ClockworkMod Recovery option.

i didn't do that i just ran ROM manager and flashed the latest Clockwork. you're backing up the old recovery. in that step, good idea, sure. needed, not really.

Actually the point of renaming that script is to prevent clockwork from being overwritten by the stock recovery.
The default stock rom is set up to re-flash the stock recovery from cache on bootup if it detects that it's been changed (which is very annoying if you *want* clockwork recovery).
thank you very much for uploading that for me
now correct me if i'm wrong netarchy but i would use fastboot to flash the img file?
I just want to double check before i mess up once again. i'm pretty smart and a quick learner but not a pro like yourself
worked?

Just go to market and download side load enabler for bravo
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
If you yourself rooted your phone with the rooting program called super1click then after you root you restart and then click the button "enable unknown sources (requires root)". Then reboot again. Should be done. otherwise use this link to download the app to enable the check box.
that's is all i want, thanks you guys so so much :x
i will try

for some reason super1 click enable non market app doesnt work for me. maybe its the version ?
i just downloaded the side load enabler from the market
If you just rooted your phone with super1click you must reboot your phone for it to work properly. If you want to enable non-market apps and it's saying faild, start with a fresh reboot, then click shell root, after it's done you click enable non-market apps. When you get the error messages, click ignore or yes for the first box and whatever is the 2nd box. should pass then. REBOOT! Then your good to go. You can't turn it off because you don't have the checkbox but you can download it from the market in the post above of mine. Now can we all please stop asking how to install things not from the market please?
how to fresh reboot ???
If by fresh reboot you mean sbf...you need rsd lite and the bravo's sbf. There are links and instructions in these forums.

Are you going to use FROYO now? CM7 is complete, camera is now working. Dont install the app, follow next steps for CM7 (Gingerbread):
* root with SuperOneClick
* then download 2ndInit Recovery Installer v2.0
* install a recovery and then install CM7

I deleted an important application on my rooted phone

Note: I'm new to XDA, so I've basically made no posts so far. I tried posting this under HTC Bolt/Evo 10, but since I have not made the 10 post threshold yet, I cannot post there, so I just made the post here. If this post needs to be relocated please let me know.
After rooting my phone (HTC Bolt), I foolishly deleted some bloatware applications without backing them up. One of them was TouchPal, a preinstalled keyboard app. I didn't think this would be much of a problem because I already had it disabled in settings and was using a separate keyboard app for other purposes.
However, when I restart my phone, it always asks me to type my pin and "decrypt" the phone. I'm not sure why it does this (previous cell phone didn't), but apparently (this is only a theory) it uses this keyboard application, so I can't actually type my PIN in to decrypt my phone.
I could be completely wrong, and I might have accidentally deleted some other important file from my phone, but either way, I don't know how to fix my phone right now.
I did a bit of research and found out I was supposed to flash a ROM onto my device. However, I don't think I can even connect my device to my computer because normally I would have to enable USB debugging and file transfers.
So basically: is there a way to connect my phone to my computer that would allow me to do whatever is necessary to let me access my phone again? (also should I be flashing a completely new ROM? I should still have everything on my phone except a couple bloatware applications, so is there an easier workaround?)
Update: I got my phone to connect to my PC by booting it in recovery mode. I'll delete this thread if I can successfully flash a ROM.
Hey!
You have already rooted your phone - perfekt!
Now you can start to your bootloader and from there you can flash a twrp recovery if you haven't yet.
If you didn't, there are many tutorials how to do: google: your phone flash custom recovery via fastboot mode
If you have done this - you can easily backup your data with twrp recovery (I think twrp is the best)
After you have done this you can make a full whipe of your system.
If you have done this maybe the failure isnt anymore, but now you have no code to unlock! If the app is still not there - go to apkmirror.com and download the app(there are even system apps). Or just google "xxx.apk download"
After this you can restore your data from twrp!
Summary:
1. Flash recovery. Via fastboot mode
2. Restore your data via recovery
3. Full Wipe
4. Restart
5. If app is still not there - search for APK and install
6. Reboot to recovery (e.g. volume up and home at starting phone, google...)
7. Restore data
8. Restart to system.
I don't know if this Is work, but it's worth to try.
If this don't work: you can transfer data from phone to PC via fastboot mode and then you can flash custom ROM or stock rom,...
I hope this works!

I remember an easier way.
Maybe you can install app via ADB in recovery mode.
Therefore you need:
custom recovery
ADB tools installed on your PC
USB Driver installed
The APK downloaded from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=TouchPal
If you have done this - reboot to recovery.
Navigate on your PC to the adb tools folder where adb.exe is in it. Open CMD with right click on address line.
Then write in CMD:
adb devices
If your phone is found, adb commands are working.
Then copy the APK in the folder where adb.exe is in it.
Type in CMD:
adb push xxx.apk /system/app(the address where you delete apk)
So maybe this works
So first check:
- custom recovery flashed?
- adb tools installed?
- USB driver installed?
If you have further questions, let me know.

How would I find out the address where I deleted the apk? I already had adb, USB drivers, and custom recovery installed.

The files were deleted within the phone itself through Titanium Backup, so I have no idea where the file location is. As of now, I can adb push the apk, but I don't know where to push it to.

Sorry for the late reply.
The command "adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/xxx.apk" doesn't work for some reason. It says it is not a directory. (I changed the name from xxx to the actual apk name by the way)
