Looking at the specs of this phone, can we say it's Gingerbread ready according to Google's Gingerbread hardware requirement list?
Looking forward for some techy feedback.
Will running motoblur be a reason that it would get the update to gingerbread later than other phones? I know that the Droid 2 DX had 2.2 right away but I do not think the Droid Pro is a fan favorite like those guys and because of that maybe Motorola will not be in a huge rush to update it. I do not know the answer. I am just as curious as you.

Everyone knows (or should know) that we just got 2.2 released in early January and was pulled for a bit due to bricking issues, but was re-released recently. I personally would love to see this phone get 2.3 soon, I just installed the official gingerbread launcher and virtual keyboard on mine and oddly enough it wonders for the phone especially with the launcher. I'm eligible for an upgrade in august so I'm highly doubting we'll see it before then even though I would really love to.
So I pose you guys with a question do you think we will see Gingerbread by the end of this year, or do you think Samsung/Sprint is going to skip our phones for this update? Curious to see what you guys think on it.
"Springtime" for Froyo upgrade according to VM.
VM still hasn't gotten the official Froyo update yet?
Android Froyo 2.2 for Samsung Intercept will be available around March 25th.
I wouldn't try to guess, but I'd think 2.1->2.2 is more important than 2.2->2.3 anyways. #amirite
I have it
I ported gingerbread to my intercept and it is running right now

How is that so?
Basically I have the launcher, keyboard and a gingerbread theme on this phone so that's about as close as anyone has gotten to giving this phone gingerbread because its not that big of an upgrade for low end phones, it's built for high end phones.
hi guys. i own atrix since a month. im from europe. we would recieve gingerbread update middle november. can you tell me what are the improvements in gingerbread for atrix. i heard it has been optimized for tegra chips and ui would be updated

If you search YouTube for "motorola atrix gingerbread update" there are a few videos of people running though the AT&T update that America got a few months back.
I would say it is safe to assume the European update will look similar. The majority of the updates between FroYo and Gingerbread are probably going to be cosmetic to most users...
The GB system is more stable and fast. The update will bring you the new version of the ****y Motoblur, which is actually somewhat usable compared to the one in the Froyo roms...
Wow ICS is comning out and you guys are just getting Gingerbread? You could have just flashed one of the custom roms which would be an improvement to the stock regardless.
Here's a good place to read about the change log.

Wow, so I am not the only Atrix user in Europe (other than the UK)? I almost thought I was. For sure, I am the only Atrix user in Romania... Anyway, looking forward to the GB update and maybe, sometime, to the ICS update (wishful thinking). I LOVE this phone, I think it's the perfect combination of screen size and power and I want to hold it as long as it lasts.

i like atrix more than nexus, but nexus will receive ics in dezember, atrix will recieve gingerbread in november. very stupid situation.
i hope that i can flash ics on atria one day.
Today I have an anouncement.
I will be doing all MIUI development for the X, D2 and D2G. Also, I will be making an update for my barebones CM rom once a month from here on out. Lastly, I will be working on an Ice Cream Sandwich rom from the SDK later this week to have something ready for when source drops. As for my Milestone 2 rom, I am probably going to release what I have and see if someone else can figure out how to get data working with it. I do not have a job where I can constantly be SBF'ing my phone anymore and that rom was the fastest way to break the phone. I still am planning on working on a sense port but that will be far down the road after ICS is out.
Secondly, Since I am working on so many devices right now, expect delays to be there but things still coming out at least. I am taking donations to get my thinkpad working again (since it got killed) that way I can have 2 dev machines. Any phones I can get will help too. Whether it be an X, D2G or D2. Simply put, I don't have enough hardware right now to crank them out very fast and I am asking for donations to expedite releases. I am posting this in the X forum since I will be developing for that device now.
I appreciate anything you guys have given to me before (you guys kept me afloat during my unemployment). I look forward to be doing more releases, but if you guys have anything left to give... It will make this much faster for me. Developing with my phone I use has just become almost out of the question.
Edit: ICS will be my primary rom in development until we get it running. Once DXC does his last release I will be doing just maitenence releases for MIUI.
I like this guy

Can't wait to see ics!
I'd contribute if I could... But thanks for remembering us!
You'll be on my list of guys to drop coin to after the first of the year. I'm loving MIUI on my D2 and definitely look forward to future updates.
P.S., I know it's a tiny thing but if you get the chance to code so that the alt lock key works that would be awesome.

Now a days a tons of android phones are receiving the new ICS update. But phone's with lower processors, resolution, *older phones* and all of that are receiving the new ics update, which brings me to this question. Knowing how the continuum is do you guys think we'll ever get an update or that we'll ever make our own version 4.0 for the continuum? Would like to know your opinions..
Personally, I don't think it's going to happen, but I would LOVE to be proven wrong.
I thought verizon discontinued the continuum so I dont think that they will be purchasing any more updates and rolling them out, so probably not.
Trailblazer and I may be able to pull off something in future, I got classes for another month, hopefully may be in time for christmas?

So I have a new android device called Samsung Rugby Smart friend gave it to me cause he didn't needed it, and they just ported 4.0.4 with cm9 from 2.3.6. And I have to say I'm very impressed with the way it feels and looks. I honestly would love to see ics ported or made for the continuum. It would definitely improve the phone a lot. we're almost there! Keep up the good work.
