My compass is not working anymore in DK28. I don't want to have to downgrade (yet) to DI18, I'll do that when the official update comes out. But when I do move to the official update, will my compass work again, or is it pretty much messed up for good?
If you're rooted, there's a fix. Open a terminal (I use terminal emulator) and type:
su
/system/sensorcalib_yamaha
Follow directions, reset phone. This fixes rotation lag and compass from my experience. hope that helps!

You can also download the GPS Status app from the marketplace and do this without needing root.

I just unrooted my Epic 4G back to stock 2.1 DI18 with Odin using the SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 file and my orientation is not working. None of the apps, when running, will auto rotate to horizontal unless I open the keyboard. Anyone know of a fix for this (or having the same problem)?
The home screens do not rotate with DI18. Not sure why your apps are not. Might be a corrupted file.

This one always works for me.
Had the same problem after I did the sensor calibration in the Froyo Rom and then flashed back. Wouldn't rotate in any apps. Downloaded a few leveling apps and tried their calibration tools but nothing fixed it.
The sensorcalibutil_yamaha calibration utility in this thread fixed it for me. I didn't have to delete the .cfg file but somebody else I linked to this thread a while ago with the same problem had to do that to fix theirs. Assuming you're rooted I just ran mine from a terminal app but you can do it through adb as it says.

Fix for orientation/auto-rotate problem in Epic 4G
***MUST BE ROOTED***
1. Download a terminal app from the market - (Android Terminal Emulator)
2. Enter one line at a time.
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
3. Follow the onscreen directions, while making sure you device is flat.
pay attention to the bump at bottom on back.
After you're done, reboot.
I recently received a T-mo G2, and tried to root&rom it.
I perma-rooted it, and although it seemed to work (i have the superuser app etc.)
when i try to install rom manager, it claims that my device isn't rooted. (superuser not found, blah blah)
Anyone else had that problem? i already searched the forum, not to find much.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
How did you root? What happens when you type SU in the Terminal emulator?
rooted with visionary+ (temproot and then permroot)
Don't have any terminal emulator, so i don't quite have an answer to that.
I have the superuser app though, and visionary+ appears in the permission list, if that's any help
Check if you have S-OFF, because it happened to me when I got my G2 rooted by a friend of mine.
Also, post the method of rooting, because there are several, so more knowledgeable users help you out.
Look up xda wiki for htc vision. Current best practice is rage and gfree.

I'm a little confused guys.
I pretty much followed the instructions for part 1 and 2 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12631216&postcount=2911
I flashed my phone back to 1.2.6 then ran the before update script. Then updated, then ran the after update script. I am able to download .apk files and run them without being pestered. But I tried to run boot strap, and nothing would happen when i hit "Recovery boot". I know the gignger blur installation instructions says to make sure I'm plugged in to an AC charger so I did. Didn't work. I plugged it into my car charger. Didn't work. Tried my USB cable connected to the PC for sh*ts and giggles, but still nothing.
So I though maybe my phone isn't rooted properly? I googled a little and found this: http://androidforums.com/32282-post3.html
I installed the terminal app and ran su and it said permission denied. But I think I am able to access /data/app-private (I type in cd /data/app-private and it doesn't do anything so I assume I'm in the app-private directory, no?)
...So I guess I'm just here to ask, am I going in the right direction to check to see if my phone is rooted? Any other way of checking to see if I'm rooted correctly? I'm not exactly looking for the easy way, I'm looking for the correct way.
Any help is appreciated =)
If you are properly rooted, there will be an application called Superuser in your app tray.

I have that app, how come when I su in terminal it denies me permission?
Open up Superuser and make sure it is in your "allow" list.

When I open up superuser it only says "No apps in list" under my Apps tab. And hitting the menu button (the button with the 4 squares) does nothing whenI'm in the Apps tab.
Strange... So when you type "su" in the terminal, does it give you a pop-up to allow superuser access?

Nope, just says "Permission denied"
Try switching usb settings from none to storage then back to none, and also uncheck usb debug and recheck it. I know when I updated my phone to restore root that is what I had to do or I would get premission denied.

Still no luck, I think I might have lost root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12685034&postcount=3303 )
How do you even loose root?
Yes, you don't have root. I was in a similar situation when I first tried the Mac version of aRoot. There was a bug in the script so I didn't actually get rooted, but it installed superuser anyway so I thought I was. Anything that requires root will simply fail.

How did you fix your problem?
Hi guys, I know there was a thread on here before about how to fix the fingerprint scanner after a bad restore in TiBU but for some reason those methods aren't working for me. I am using Terminal Emulator and when I enter in adb.exe shell it gives me an error and I can't get past there. Can someone please guide me through because I don't really feel like doing all this work to get back to 1.57 rooted again and then install all the extra goodies again as well

If you're using a terminal emulator on the phone it self then you skip the step that says adb.exe and just type su then everything else that follows

try running fix permissions from terminal :
type su(press enter)
fix_permissions(press enter)
And reboot
Then,
try installing the app "cachemate for root users"
from the market, check power clear option, and clear cache
Then try running rom manager, if it still doesnt work, try uninstalling and reinstalling

I get something similar. Also, after doing the full root, I lose root after a reboot...and even after I have root...no root commands work.
