Cant Boot winmo with SD card in - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have to take my SD card out for windows to boot up, is there a way to fix this its such a PITA to restart my phone

Do you use an auto loader like EBL?

yes, i think you might be using an autoboot for android like EBL with booting time like 3 seconds

no i start just like normal, my screen stops at the pink and white stick together and stays that way unitl i remove the SD card, then the radio version come on at the bottom and it boots like normal but if i dont remove the SD card it will just stay at teh stick together sreeen

You may get this issue if the sd card is corrupt. Try checking it for errors using a card reader on your pc.
Also I had issues with winmo when my card was almost full. I deleted one of my android builds and winmo loaded and ran fine.
Or it could possibly the files on your card not readable by windows. I always wondered about those files that started with .files (starting with a period)

I cant turn my phone off

For some reason i cant turn my phone off. I've used 5 different versions of android and the first two roms worked fine, i could turn my phone off normally and start android right up again. But for some reason i get the error cant find rootfs on root of sd card when i try and reboot my phone after the first boot. so basically my phone cant run out of battery otherwise i have to clear out my memory card and redo everything all over again.
i dont know why this is happening but i am currently running on Omega v13 gtx rom.
Please help me try and find a way to fix it because it really sucks having to reformat my memory card every time my phone dies. Thank you
Reformat (2 or 3 times) and reinstall.
Ensure you read the "readme" file from whatever rom you are using on the SD card.
Last ditch.... consider that HTC is sending new SD cards to those who call and complain their card is unrecognized. (You may have a bad card; and HTC will replace for free.... Search these forums for info).....
i've tried that and i still havent been able to get things fixed, and im pretty sure my sd card isnt defective since only the newer builds have been doing this

HD2 Android - What am I doing wrong?

Hi.
I have installed ChuckyROM (gone through the HSPL process).
I have then downloaded several different android builds and the same thing happens when I follow the SDCARD instructions.
I load the files onto a 2GB SDCARD, Plug it into my device, restart the device, tap the CLRCAD.exe first then tap HaRet.exe
I loads into a black screen with some very small text in the top left corner, then this text slowly fades away and nothing happens.
Any ideas?
I've heard you need at least 1.5 gig of free space on your SD card to install android, so make sure you don't have other files on it.
Also, give it 15 minutes to let it do it's thing on first boot, a lot of stuff has to be created and initialized.
Being going for over 30 mins now, and I completely reformatted the SD card before I put the android files on it.
Try re-formatting your SD card within Windows and ensure it is formatted to 32kb clusters, this is one of the things that can cause an issue.
ps what radio are you using?
SORTED
Reformatted my SDcard and now its working.
Thanks.
Got Android with HTC Sense running - and it is awesome.

[Q] HELP: android wont start up for some reason?

NOTE: i posted this in the development thread by mistake, reposting here. sorry
hey everyone
i tried searching the threads but i cant find anyone with my exact problem (or something similar at least).
anyways ive been running dutty's winmo rom, i have a proper .50 radio running, and i have been able to successfully boot into darkstones superram v1.5 for the past few weeks just fine.
one night i forgot to charge the battery so it drained out, in the morning i had to work and i needed a number which was on the android OS of the phone, so i immediately turned on the phone after starting to charge it and booted into android, the phone didnt have enough power though and shut off while it was checking the SD card for errors.
after this point, i started up the phone again after 2 minutes to give it some time to charge, and it was able to get into android, however on hte way to work i tried listening to music and/or getting pictures from my SD card (using astro to search the SD card) but when i clicked on a file everything force closed, the music player froze up everytime i tried to get music going, and things like the sound options in the android settings menu would force close as well.
i figured somethnig messed up on the SD card so i backed up some stuff and formatted the SD card, and reinstalled a fresh version of darkstones superram (new data.img and everything).
when i tried launching android it went to the green HTC screen for a few seconds, then the screen goes black and the phone restarts into winmo.
this kept happening so i figured maybe something went wrong with the windows mobile rom, so i installed an energy rom just now and hte same thing is still happening.
what im going to do today is try it on a different SD card to see if thats the problem, and try another SD android ROM to make sure.
but if anyone can save me some time and knows whats happening here please let me know!
any help is appriciated! thanks!
[Dec 18][RAM] darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 [kernel: Hastarin custom]
I am assuming you are using the above.
It sounds like your SD card was "damaged", try refreshing it this way.
Assuming you are using Windows PC.
Download SD Card Formatter 3 and install.
Insert SD card into card reader
Start up SD Card Formatter 3, it should detect your SD Card.
Click on OPTIONS button
Format = FULL (ERASE ON)
Format Size Readjustment = ON
Click OKAY then START
When done, put only important stuff back, like music, documents, videos, etc..
Then start Darkstone Froyo from scratch, in case those files were damaged before the backup.

[Q] SD Card doesn't work anymore after phone crash.

I have been using NAND Android for a couple of months now without any issues, but the other other day my phone totally froze as I was starting Angry Birds. I had to remove the battery and put it back in. It booted up again, but right when the phone asked for my SIM pin-code it "restarted". Meaning, it freezes for a bit, before the white "quietly brilliant" animation shows up again. And this went on forever. It just show that animation over and over. So I removed the battery and booted the phone back up, same issue.
Then I tried removing the SD-card and voilĂ , the phone works again. No problems.
So I put the SD-card back in after the phone was properly booted and I had entered the PIN number etc, but it froze as the "preparing your SD card" message appeared.
Did the phone corrupt my SD card?
I don't have a card reader for a micro SD-card, so I haven't been able to check if it works outside of my phone..
I can't really remember which ROM I used, but it's a clean stock build.
here is some information from my phone:
Android "model number": HTC Desire A8181
Radio version: 2.15.50.14
Kernel: 2.6.32.15-prjv4
Build nr: 2.29.405.5 CL293415
Software nr: 2.29.405.5
SD-card: Sandisc 8GB HC
Yes it's close to be sure (what's why I only use NAND).
Anyway, just try to format your SD, of course not from android but MAGLDR or CWM. Don't remember which of the two can do this as I always use the reader of my laptop.
If this doesn't work delete/recreate your partition (one of the two can play with SD partitions).
You can also use the USB from MAGLDR (I know it corrupt data... bla bla bla) as you have no reader.
Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else experience something similar.
I found out that my SD-card was corrupt. Buying a new one was the only option and everything works fine again.
In case of software fail, you can only corrupt data on SD, but not hardware of SD-card. May be there is not Android problem, but problem of SD card yourself on hardware level. I lose all data at my SD-card after sortware errors, but I always can format SD card once more for restore partition.

[Q] HTC HD2 Freezing on startup. Please help

Hi people. Sorry for my english. It is very bad ))
I'm using this rom on my HD2 Leo about a year without any problems.
The version of stable rom on my device is MIUI-STABLE V5.1
I was not trying to set up another rom and i don't install any applications for a long time. So i was doing nothing with the phone. But yesterday my phone was discharged to 0% and shutdown. When I came home, I plug in the charging cable. The device try to startup. Go Go Go screen OK, then HTC HD2 screen (this one) OK and then animated picture is going to infinite loop. When i removed SD card, the system started up. Then I plug in SD card, but I havent shortcuts on my desktop and cannot start many applications, which was on SD card. In Settings->Program manager i can see all of this applications. I can see all the volumes on my SD card and system shows it capacity. I have check the ext partition with GParted. It's OK... What can I do to bring back my applications and the phone to startup with my SD card? May be there is some easy way without repartitioning the SD?

I had the same problem once with the jelly bean 4.1.2 rom. I discharged the battery, the device shut down normally and when i put the charger in, same thing, magldr started fine but went on a infite loop on the android boot image.
i reinstalled the whole thing to fix this problem
you should do the same :fingers-crossed:
Maybe someone can suggest the reasons for this behavior?
