Tried to installl oclf on Nero beta 2 get error message - Vibrant General

Just tried to install oclf in Nero beta 2 and it kept coming up with error message: unable to due to device busy. I followed all of the steps that I was given to the letter.oes any one know what means or how to fix it? I have never run a lag fix before and am quickly starting to feel I was better off just leaving it alone. Any help is appreciated.

It might mean it's not compatible with the rom.
Not sure I've never used Nero.

It works I'm using it but I've never seen this error before
Runnin nero+dow+oclf

It means you have apps installed on your sd card. You will have to move them to main app storage first. I think it is:
menu...settings...applications...manage applications...on sd card.

Thanks so much for the kind replies. I ended up unmounting my external sd card and than mounting it again and for whatever reason it now works . Oclf is installed and appears to be running as the device is much faster than it has ever been..

Make sure battey is fully charge or 42%.

I disabled the oclf and also the EXT2 etc. and things got back to normal. WOW just checked and had 82% battery left and did CWM back up and all of a sudden about 10 mintues later I had 12 % left!!!! I use Battery Pro and have never had a problem with it.I have no idea what is going on!!!! Any one else have this situation? Any ideas what could have caused it or what I can do to rectify it?

Android was running fine, Then SOD started happening..(FIX)

This has happened to me, however Format FAT32 is a fix, but I chose to just scandisk the card. Found a couple errors, and I deleted the temp files and fired up Haret. All is good again.
Long story short some errors on the card happen and a quick scandisk/chkdsk should fix them and Android should be happy again.
You can perform this on your computer or with any storage card tools in Windows Mobile prior to launching Haret.
Hope this helps some people...
Just an idea, can we add a chkdsk command in android boot loader?
I have same issue before.
SODs are caused by sd card errors?
i didnt realize that.. is it really only errors on sd cards that are the cause of SODs? or are there other underlying factors affecting SODs such as mayb speed class of SD cards?
im using the class 2 8gb which came with my hd2 and my phone gets SODs despite having the same setup as many people who are using the same android build as others who do not have SODs and have used android back-to-back for days without falling back to Winmo..
I'm no expert or anything but I use the 16 gig SD card that came with my HD2 and I've formatted it, I've tried every trick I know with the sd card ad I still get SODs, I'm going to keep looking for a fix here. I'll post back if I find one. Let me know if any of you do.
thankx,
Kn0t
the android boot loader should already check all the mounts before mounting them.
i would say try a different winmo rom..
im using the miri cht one with 2.12 radio.
I think every time we boot android the card is automatically checked for errors! I have seen it in the test that scrolls while android is booting!

The problem is actually in the format of the SDCard (fat32) and the way files are organize when we transfer/save/backup files onto it. A scandisk plus a defragment will make a difference. I always do it when I transfer music files, take pics, make backups o just installed a new build. even the fsck finds non-contiguous files every time you boot android (pay close attention be4 the sound is loaded)
and you are right, the sdcard is checked for errors but not fixed. what the bootloader get "automatically fixed" is not the sdcard, but some files which might not be configured/located where they should. I recommend a scandisk and a defragment everytime you load a new build/change many files. u will notice the difference.
So which chdsk/defrag program do you recommend ?

Every Windows pc comes with its scandisk and defrag utility.
according to some peeps at computer forums
you should NOT defrag a thumb drive or sd card, because its a different tpe of memory than hard drive and may cause some sideffects.
cna someone confirm that?
I formatted my SD card. Upgraded my radio. I took everything off of MT SD card that was windows mobile. I just left music movies and android and I've been running android 19 + hours with zero problems nor sods.

it doesn't make any sense, this two thing isn't related at all. hard drive type and defrag. data just fragments, no matter hdd type, format. so you need to defrag it.

Thank you for this tip. I had installed Modern Combat: Sandstorm and put a good amount of music on my phone, and after that I was getting SOD's fairly frequently.. I'm attempting this trick now to see if it has any positive effect.
I don't know if this will help anyone but it works great for me. In addition to repairing errors when I formatted my 16 gig class 2 that came with the phone I set cluster size to 64 and its always ran fast since with no sod. I don't see that much of a storage loss. Barely using 5 out of 16 gigs on the card with almost 3 gigs of music loaded.

I also don't know if this will help anyone but I used to get the SOD to happen ALL THE TIME. Sometimes I would get lucky for a couple hours but then they would happen sometimes every TWO minutes. I have 3 different SD cards. One stock 16gb, one class 4 8gb. and a spare 16gb. I tried everything I found here from switching to a faster card. reformatting. Using a higher cluster size. Nothing worked. Then I tried switching radio's from 2.08 to 2.12. PROBLEM 100% fixed. I havent had a SOD in over two weeks. Ive read that the radio is NOT a fix for this problem but for some reason it fixed it for me.

MY SOLUTION FOR SOD...
Hey all... I am new to this forum. I own a Galaxy Note GT N7000. I am using stock JB rom. I have been having SOD's since 3 months. Even wen i was on ICS. I have tried many custom roms, changed kernels, got my phone bricked n got a motherboard replacement under warranty. Guess what... SOD persisted. I was goin mad. I tried usin phone without external SD, overclocked my device to 500 Mhz.
And hell... SOD persisted. Have been through almost all forums regarding SODs.
What helped was... changing WIFI settings.
Go to... Settings... WiFi... Go to options menu.... click ADVANCED...
CHANGE... "KEEP WI-FI ON DURING SLEEP" option to "NEVER"
Bingo....
No SOD... since last 4 days.
Hope it helps. I know some ppl are havin SOD even without using WIFI.
But for those who r using WiFi, its worth giving a try.

Mediaserver + SD card = 100% CPU (HELP!!)

Ok this is driving me off the wall. The process called "mediaserver" is using 100% of my CPU time even while the screen is off. It forces my phone to go to max clock the whole time.
When I unmount my sd card (which has music, files, etc) it goes back to 0% instantly and the CPU clocks down to normal. The SECOND I remount it, BAM it goes back to using 100% of my CPU. The battery drain is incredible.
I have googled the issue and there are several single post threads with no response or solution.
Can someone please help me?
whats is your rom and kernel? is it an app? if it is, uninstall it.

It was happening on virtuous and ultimatedroid. And from the above post we can see that it is happening on CM too. It is not app related. Ending everything using a task manager and/or restarting the phone doesn't fix. I did a complete wipe of data/chache/davik before flashing roms.
Simply put, if your sd card has media on it (music, pics, etc), mediaserver will go nuts.
Hoping the awesome people at x-da can help us out!
I just got the 32 GB SD card yesterday and the same thing started happening to me today. I did a factory reset, different roms, back to normal and it still is happening. My verizon extended battery lasted about 5 hours today...and it was unusually hot as well. Does this happen to others on smaller SD cards?
I had this problem a while back. Turns out it was a corrupt movie file. Something vlc played fine, but the media scanning app hated and drained my battery every 3 hours for two days until I figured it out.
Remove all media from your sd card, pics, movies, music and see what happens. Add it back slowly. If that is the problem.
Another potential issue is a corrupt sd card. You can try reformatting it or scanning it for bad sectors, but my guess is that its a bad file.

Mediaserver is an app not part of the OS so just uninstall it. It hasn't been updated for Froyo anyway judging from whats on the market.

When I'm in storage mode.......

.....connected to my laptop all the apps I have located on my ext SD card disappear which I understand but when my Atrix is unplugged the apps I have stored don't reappear on my home screens.
They have to be manually put back on.
Does anyone know why this is.....it's doing my head in.
I'm running the Alien 4 rom with Faux123 kernel if that matters.
Cheers
Paul

I don't understand why people move apps to sd on a phone that doesn't need it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
For the same reason you cant access anything else on the SD card when in storage mode, the OS has to unmount it while the computer has access, thus you cant use anything on it including apps, this is normal.
To the first reply, cause I want to and to the second, read my question again. I said I know why they disappear when connected but don't know why they don't return when the device is unplugged.
Never had the problem on either of my 2 desires and wondered if it was Atrix or maybe ROM specific.
Don't post unless you can help. Thanks.
Ah i missed that part :-(..... In that case no idea never tried it as I have 1.2GB free of app storage.
Do they appear in the apps list?
Tried restarting the phone?
Tried a media scan (not sure if it will pick up apps)
Sounds like your ROM is not scanning the sdcard after remounting it.

No probs Nap and thanks Dennis, tried it mate but no joy.
Looks like I'll just use internal storage for ease from now as it gets boring adding them all back after a while.
Thanks anyway tho
you could always buy the dual mount SD program, best .99c I have spent so far. It allows you to mount and still access the sd on the phone. it is very helpful for me.
I had an issue with my ringtones that are located on storage being jacked up during mounts. the issue would occur when I had a notification, call, text, anything that made a noise that used a custom tone while mounted to a PC. After unmount the notification would either revert to default or choose a completely random tone.
I downloaded dualmount a few months back and that issue was resolved. I havent had to reset my notifications except when I flashed to CM, and I can live with that

Workaround for Slow Data transfer speeds to SD card in AOSP Roms.

I recently ran into a problem when I was trying to transfer 13GB of Music to my EVO running MIUI. I had the phone hooked via USB cable to my laptop and was only seeing about 800k/s in transfer speeds on a class 4 micro sd card. Eff that I say.
So I did some digging and this seems to be a known issue with AOSP roms with no real fix.
There are a couple work arounds though.
1. Turn off the phone and pull the card to transfer directly.. this sucks.
2. Reboot into recovery mode and mount the sd card. This still sucks.
3. (This is what I did) Install "Dual Mount SD" from the market. I think there's a similar version that's free but the reviews weren't that great. This will allow your phone keep the sdcard mounted in Android and allow your computer to mount it too. The app has a setting that will force Android to rescan the card when you unmount from the computer. This work around get's me back up to the expected 3.8Mb/s transfer on the micro sd card.
Hope this helps someone else out there.
Its the version of Linux they use for the kernels which causes the issue. I'm not sure which kernel doesn't do this (I want to say it was savaged-zen) not possitive but with that kernel the speed vamp up to what you would expect.
It could be any kernel but I have only used savaged-zen, tiamat, and godmode. So one of those is the key to faster transfer speed. Figured I throw that out there, goes with your post
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I'm running tiamat 4.0.8 and still see the issue.
I'm using GoDm0dE and have pretty fast data transfers don't remember the speeds from my last backup but 7gb only took about 3mins or so to transfer
Edit: I'm gonna be backing up my card later tonight or tomorrow so I will note my xfer speeds and post em here when I'm done
Running tiamat and seeing this getting about 1.1 mb a second which really is bs
I had this problem also..A while back I ran into a topic where someone found a fix on the cyanogen bug tracker or something.
I really can't remember but I can tell you flashing these two files worked for me on every cm7 variant I ran. I didn't notice any bad effects and have no idea what it changes but it works.

Yeah because turning your phone off then opening it then removing the battery then removing the SD card then putting it in an adapter then transferring then all that in reverse is faster than 1.1 mbs lol

Hi, do you know if this would work with Deck's 1.3 [2.3.7]? I'm having terrible speeds, my only "fix" thus far was rebooting into recovery and mounting usb from there. That gives me around 2x the speed.

welcome to the club, i am in the same boat.
my phone works fine all times without sd card but sometimes goes crazy (restaring / freezing constantly for 7-8h non stop!) with sd card in situ.
some of my apps are on internal 1.9gb memory, some on internal 11gb memory, some on external card. trying to figure out how to force on stock unrooted device to force all apps to internal memory (1.9gb or 11gb) to prevent these issues. or will try new card. my old card works fine on my htc desire. dont know if the htc folders present on sd card are causing soem issues
have tried with apps2sd pro and stock app mnager to move apps to internal 11gb memory. but the phone has a mind of its own and some stay on 1.9gb internal memory some go to 11gb internal memory and some go to external sd card and i cant seem to force moveable apps to internal 11gb memory only instead of sd card as mentioned in the other concurrent thread today on this topic.
Hi,
I also had similar problem like this. It appears that the Android Program at times cannot seem to access the Ext SD card program/s installed and that will cause a reboot and repeated so.
I really do not why this is happening? It will seem to work fine ant reboot when the Ext SD is removed - but those programs installed in the Ext. SD will no longer be accessible.
There is a hidden folder in the Ext. SD ".android_secure" which contain all the programs transferred to that Ext. SD. If you empty this folder of it programs by transferring them to your PC and reinsert the Ext. SD card, it will function normally and you can access your file like photos, videos, music, and ebooks. But you will not be able to access your programs in the Ext. SD.
I had tried un-installing the apps in the Ext SD and re-installing them into Phone memory it will work but it will not transfer to Int. SD (the 11 GB) and keep informing me there is no Ext SD. This of course will eat up all the 1.9 GB of the Phone memory, which is not what I had wanted. Although I still have a lot of memory in the Int. SD (about 8 GB) it will not transfer there, why I am not sure.
Can some of the Android expert please look into this problem and advise. Thank you.

Hi,
How do you make sure all the Apps are located in the Internal SD?
I have an Ext SD and some apps are transferred there. I cannot transfer these apps into the Int SD.
I uninstalled the apps and reinstall them without the Ext SD and then try to transfer to Int SD. It will not transfer and a message "you do not have an Ext SD card"
Will appreciate any assistance. Thank you.
I don't have any apps installed on the internal SD nor external SD, I notice this that everytime an app failed to complete (eg loading) it goes to looping reboots. The last one I was playing some game something called mission, cannot remember the game name, it was loading all the time then I decided to switch it off and turn it on again. It goes constant reboot. I need a good phone which doesn't rebooot all the time ...
