3G not invoking for MMS download - EVO 4G General

I'm using the EVO on another carrier, one that accepts foreign ESN's. I have loaded all the appropriate APN's and Data Profile settings so that 3G works and MMS works. The problem I have is that if I have Wifi turned on when trying to send or download a received MMS message, it doesn't activate the 3G to download the message, and the message send or download fails. If I turn off wifi and attempt it again, it works. So what is the trick to get 3G to activate when I try to send or download MMS messages? Is this APN related?

MMS Can't Download, need to break connection

I'm new to this, and well - when I'm connected to either to WiFi or GPRS, i get a window pop that asks me this:
" In order to send/download MMS, the current active connection must be closed (this may affect other application in use). Do you want to continue? "
Is there any workaround to this? (as in auto connect perhaps?) It's just that I get quite a few MMS and it's a bit annoying. I have always-on GPRS connection because of DirectPush, so I get this message every time I get a MMS.
you said you are always online. check the name of the connections. this name you have to write in the options of the mms connections. so the message will gone
The same problem here to...
for my internet connection i have a apn setup under my isp which i use for internet and directpush....and i have another connection setup under my work network which is a proxy apn and used for mms only....and i cant use the my isp apn as two are diffrent for mms and internet now when a mms came i need to do disconect the connection by clicking yes everytime...
does there have any work around that the disconect-downloading mms and again reconecting to my isp will occure automatically???

Exchange & MMS

Hi

I have my phone connected thru a exchange server and when someone send me a mms the phone cant connect to recive it, i must disconnect the exchange uplink=(internet).

Exchange ActiveSync & MMS
Hi Asik,
I have the same problem with MMS and Exchange Sync. When you have set MMS to automatically download, the X1 will try a few times to download the MMS without notifying me and after 8 days (in my network), I get the message that the MMS timed out and I'm no longer able to get it - VERY BAD
If you set the MMS to download manually, you will get notified that a new MMS is there! You can then click on "Download". The X1 then shows a message that it needs to disconnect Internet and connect to the MMS APN. You have to say "Yes" on the right Menu Now! Then, the MMS gets downloaded and afterwards, Internet gets reconnected for Exchange ActiveSync. Not very beautiful, but at least a workaround.
Does anybody knows of a better way?
Ok, so its not just me that have this problem....
I also use the above metod to get my MMS and it sucks that i cant get them auto to me...
Help us out here guys... this cant be the way to do it or ???

Exchange ActiveSync & MMS
Hi Asik,
another solution would be to use the same APN for Internet and MMS. Unfortunately, this does not work for me and probaly for most of us because:
My Provider has seperate APN's for MMS and Internet:
With the Internet APN, I cannot access the MMSC to download or send messages.
With the MMS APN, I can access both, Internet and MMSC, but it get's disconnected automatically after receiving an MMS or after about 2 Minutes. With this, ActiveSync would reconnect every 2 Minutes and this would be quite expensive, because a new 20kB Block would be charged and never used bevor the next disconnect.
The Telco's should provide an Internet APN that doesn't disconnect and also allows to connect the MMSC.
I think its the same for my provider...Telia Sweden

Receiving MMS

Hi,
I have an HTC Pure on AT&T network. I don't have a data plan with it since I'm always near Wifi access points.
So I have set up my connections to use the default "My Work Network" with no proxy server set up. (I also checked the "This connects to internet" checkbox)
I also turned Data Connection to off in the setting tab.
With this setup, I cannot access the internet without connecting to a wifi spot, which is exactly what I want.
However I also realized that I'm not able to receive MMS (I haven't tried sending yet). I would get a mesage of "Click to view MMS", and when I try to download it it says unable to download the message.
Is there is special setup which avoids all cell connection, while still keeping the ability to send/receive MMS?
P.S. I'm running udk Leo R4, if that makes any difference.

Htc wizard (cannot connect for an unknown reason after update to wm6) Please help.

I just did the update from wm5 to wm6 on my htc 8125. My phone is through ATT but did the TMobile Rom as suggested. Its now connected to the 3g network, I can receive texts but when I try to connect to the internet, it wont connect. Says, "cannot connect" Dialed wap.voicestream.com, cannot connect for an unknown reason.
Current connection setting:
T-Mobile Data
Cellular Line GPRS
wap.voicestream.com
User/pass-blank
I have an unlimited plan so I'm not sure whats going on, it just takes me to some t-mobile page when I click internet explorer.
Please help, thanks.
Enable AGPS on the TILT/Kaiser
I've been having the same issue where QuickGPS started giving me error messages, RDP couldn't connect, PIE would not connect, and OperaMini would connect whenever it wanted to.
I downloaded a cab file from SH4YD33 if I remember his name correctly. The cab did work for me for like an hour, then the QuickGPS message started coming up again. I found some other method that involves the registry and that worked for me
PIE, OperaMini, QuickGPS and RDP are all working again.
Ok this is how to enable it.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"EnableAGPS"=1
Good luck

Ok. I found this page from att about the Dialed: Cannot connect for an unknown reason.....
****://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=mmode&thread.id=13271
I had MEdia Net set, but under number I had ims.cingular, not allowing it to connect. I dunno where that setting came from, but I selected EDIT, and entered wap.cingular, follow the instructions and it worked. I have internet back.
Hope this helps someone.

Click to collapse
if your carrier is att then you are using the wrong network access point.

Cricket Wirless denies MMS & SMS when WiFi enabled

Hello,
Just switched from T-Mobile to Cricket Wireless and noticed that I cannot send or receive any SMS or MMS when WiFi is enabled. Is there a way to get the phone to only send these services via 4G and not over data?
Thanks,
DJ
