Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can fix the album art bug? All builds have it, for some reason the album arts get shuffled around a little and one specific album art will be tagged onto multiple random songs.
+1 for a fix
I don't have any problem on my side, no bug and all album arts are working correctly. I'm using the default ones created by Windows Media player.

I have Rick Ross album art on over 300 songs and I only have 6 Rick Ross songs. I agree, pretty annoying. We do so much with our SD cards I am really not surprised this happens. Would like to know why though.
I have no problem with album art.
I followed this guideline to do it:
- Put your music in the /media/music folder.
- I manually added mij album art by putting a "AlbumArt.jpg" file in every album / folder I have.
- Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Music (Select all applications first) -> Clear Data.
- Reboot android.
Hope this helps for you.

Rename the "Folder.jpg" to "hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg".
If you use itunes just drag an image into the album art box on the show info dialog box then copy the mp3 files to the phone. You can select all the songs in the album and do them at the same time. Don't use itunes' built in get album art feature, it doesn't work. I drag and dropped them from amazon.

Or use something like Media Monkey - Download Here. It's free and works for me.
I had a similar problem with my touch pro - ie i synced my music via windows media and the artwork never appeared. However, after inserting my memory card into the Touch HD, strangely all the artwork appeared! Not sure why it didnt show on the touch pro, but i guess its the same issue with the HD?

How do you use MM to put the album artwork in place though? I've taken my micro SD card, put it in my PC, added it to MM library and then a few tracks I've selected auto tag from Web. When it asks about album artwork I've selected to store it in the tag. The artwork shows in MM, but when I put it back in the HD it seems to have not worked

Been at this for hours today but so far this worked for me . . . .
I took the SD card out and put it into my PC via a micro reader - went to the 'My Music' folder on my SD Card. Made sure I was using MM from this point on. . .
Then I Right clicked on a track - chose 'properties' then went to the 'Album Art' tab - to check that the art has indeed gone there. I then went to my SD card - making sure that 'Hidden Folders' were displayed and deleted the 'once hidden' existing art files stored in the same folder as the MP3's. Shoved the SD card back into the HD and it worked ok.
My problem was that I had different art for the back and front artwork which was causing confusion both for me and the HD but I've learned that there is a lot more potential info stored on MP3 tags than I previously realised.
Nope, that doesn't work for me I still get the htc standard image.
When I put the memory card in the PC it could see the album art by the HD apparently can't?
Anyone else got any ideas?
How to get proper Album Art behaviour in TouchFLO 3D on Blackstone
So, just to make it even cleared:
Code:
SD CARD
--My Documents
----My Music
-------Artist
-----------Album
---------------Track 01.mp3/wma
---------------Track 02.mp3/wma
---------------Track 03.mp3/wma
---------------Track 04.mp3/wma
.
.
.
---------------hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg needs to be a 256x256 pixel image.
Do the same for other albums, there will be NO problem at all.
A good practise is to back up all your music from SD card to PC, delete everything music on SD card and recreate your music library from scratch, this time respecting what I outlined.
Cheers!
EDIT: Do not use embedded album art (i.e.: embedded pictures in tags) as it will only mess things up. Clean audio files with hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg file in album folder, together with the audio files.
EDIT 2: There are some Manila versions that use Folder.jpg as an album art reference. Other versions use ~htc_Albumname.jpg files. I've found this solution I described above to be the best solution.

Sorry mate but will post again if I come up with anything as some of the album art on my HD remains incorrectly associated with the respective MP3 and therefore needs further investigative work.
Perhaps someone more aware of the internal machinations of WM 6.1 & the Touch HD will be able to direct us to where the phone actually stores the info used by TouchFlo in relation to Album Art & MP3s.

You can find that info in Application Data\HTC\Audio Manager.
If you use my method and copy and organise files the way I described it (by simply copying them to device, via USB Storage Mode), there will be NO problems.
I have 50+ albums from 20+ artists and I keep changing the content, it updates on the fly, not a single glitch.
There is for sure a bug in the cover art of touchfow3d. It should use the embedded images in the MP3, but it does not. It will do that for only one file and all other files within that folder get the same cover art.
Of course you can work around this by grouping an artist/album in the same folder, the problem is that in my case I prefer the folder ordering done in time. It's of the 90's, 91's, 92's and so on.
Apparently the software thinks we all group our songs in albums so no need to scan the other files in that folder. Just reuse the same image found on the first MP3. I consider that a bug...
At present I don't store 'albums' on there, just individual tracks that I like, so this is a bit of a pain in the bum.
Setting up a folder for each track would be rather annoying...

Agreed - whole albums are something I store on my 80GB iPod not my phone.
However, as this is a 'bug' then it means I can stop trying to find a solution & just put up with naff album art being displayed alongside the MP3 being played. For me it's a minor issue on a phone that I am, overall, impressed with so far.

Even if you have singular files (rip from CD or whatever) and you update Album information from most players, they will regroup the in Artist\Album\Track order. Try to follow this.

OK - I couldn't resist and did exactly as you suggested. I did the following :
- created a folder in 'My Documents' on the SD card called 'My Music'
- for each track I created a folder named with the artists name
- inside the artists name folder I made another folder with the album name
- finally copied the track into the album folder
and all appears to be fine. I used Media Monkey to find and attach the album art to the MP3 and so far the correct album art is being displayed along with the correct track.
Thanks for the tips tnyynt - much appreciated & as all my other tracks (on my itunes/ipod) are already in the artist/album/track format then adding files will be a lot easier from now on - I just wont be able to drag and drop individual tracks into a single folder & expect the HD to organise itself.
What are the chances someone might find a 'fix' to this 'bug'? I really don't fancy all that messing about to be honest. Each time I have a few tracks I want to add, I have to be creating all those folders too

I would like to know this too , even image that worked in another folder doesn't work in different folder?
i dont understand why the default player only seems to find a few album covers whereas 3 music player finds them all. the id3 tags are a filled in correct. :L
I had to clear out and reset my ID tags and embedded album art multiple times to get the Desire music player to recognise them all.
Album art grabber is great.
i sort of got how it works, it's similar to Sense ui on winmo.
1. Get the cover, small res files are better (500x500 cover is good).
2. Rename the file as: ~hTC_album name.jpg (exact album name with spaces)
3. Copy the cover in the album folder and mark the file as hidden (right click on the file > properties > check hidden).
This one worked for me but some albums still won't get the cover from the folder.
I go into Gallery to view my albums of pics and unfortunately it not only puts a folder in the gallery for each folder of pictures I have but also for every single album or single in my phone/memory card (album art). uggggh I don't see any settings to disable that or omit certain folders. any hacks?
Yeah, I've got the same issue. Furthermore, the music app shows all of my additional ringtones and notification sounds. Haven't found a fix yet.

Same issue here, but to be fair I don't think it is a Vibrant issue, it's a general Android thing. My G1 always did this too pre and post froyo... I never bothered to figure out a fix though.
yeah I had this issue on my G1 also. Nothing new. I wish there was a filter setting or a watch-folder setting
mine does NOT put the album art in the gallery. i have my music on the sdcard in a folder called MUSIC
but my music app does give me every sound under the sun. it's annoying because i am now FORCED to make playlists without the erroneous phone sounds. never had to do that before. ;/

It's not a bug. A bug would be if the gallery app was *designed* to NOT show certain images. It's not. it's designed to show every image on the storage drives. It's a poor design, not a bug.
the Gallery just needs to have the ability to hide certain folders and files so you do not see them... Has been an issue for me since my G1 and 1.0!!
Hopefully your album art is in a different folder than your music. If so, stick a .nomeda file in the folder. (Just use notepad and save as type "all files" so it doesn't add a .txt to the end.) Works for hiding sound files too.
I don't have any album art showing in my gallery because I embed the album art in to each MP3 file's meta data. Use something like MP3 tag to do it (Winamp I think does it too). If you use WMP to Sync music like I do, the music player doesn't see most album art anyway. It's best to just embed the image in to the meta data.
Here's the solution:
rename all the .jpg in the music folders "Folder.jpg". This works for me. I'm assuming of course you have one folder for each album and each folder has 1 pic file for the cover art.

The best way to do it is to use something like MP3Tag to embed the album art in each MP3 file. This makes sure each song has the album part showing up. That way the gallery doesn't index your album art as well.

I've stopped using the gallery and uninstalled it. Moved onto an app called Just Pictures, you can hide and exclude folders and pictures and such.
And Music i've gotten rid of the stock music player and just run MIUI player. Has the option to exclude files under a certain size (good for avoiding ringtones).
on CM7 the following works:
using the stock file manager, go to the folder which contains the files you don't want to appear in the gallery / music player. Then go to settings and there you have "exclude from media scan".

Definitely best to embed the album art in the MP3.
I just bought the xperia x10 a while ago and started to listen music on it..
I download music on limewire and put them all on my 8GB micro sd...
Pop in the micro sd to my xperia x10, boot it, mediascape,... whats wrong?
Some of my songs shows up the wrong album art. and whats strange is that all the songs with the wrong album art HAS THE SAME WRONG ALBUM ART.
So its weird, for exemple:
I have for example on my phone:
Dj Nightlife : Display right album art
DJ Ravine: Display right album art
Akon: Displays DJ Ravine's album art instead of akon album art...
Lil wayne: displays dj ravine's album art instead of lil wayne album art
please help im getting pissed
thank you
I would try fining the album art on your SD and deleting in, make sure its the right stuff your deleting though and letting mediascape re scan it all. and make sure the mp3 files have thr right artist etc listing in their details [right click the mp3 file and properties, details tab]

If you sort music by album, there's a way to do:
You can grab the album cover pic from amazon, scan it yourself, or search, and put it to corresponding folder with audio files.
I did the same thing and I have album cover on every album folder.
I use mediamonkey to organize my mp3s and it has the ability to embed the cover art into the mp3 itself so it always stays with the music. Media monkey also has the ability to sync playlists using the media player usb mode on the phone.
where do you get media monkey? i don't see it in the market.

Yea, you wouldn't - it is a PC application.
It also has the ability to reencode all your music on the fly while transferring. I keep all my music in archive quality MP3 and Flac files, but I don't want it to take up that much space on my phone, so I have it automatically transcode everything to 64Kbps WMA on transfer, which sounds ok in my cheap earbuds anyhow. The downside is that I lose my embedded album art, so keep in mind that the embedded album art and the transcoding to save space are mutually exclusive if you use Media Monkey. Both features are great, you just have to pick which one is more important to you.

what does music player look for?
Where does the music player look for album art, and where? An image file with the same album name? It is ok with embedded art too?
If you use poweramp it will just re dl the set for you or you can manually do it through album art app. I know this didn't answer you exactly but it's a solution

I had this same issue and my way around that was to delete all of my old cover art and then use "Album Art Grabber" from the Market, which collects everything automatically and puts it into 1 folder.
In the end, I have 1 folder in "My Gallery" with all of my album artwork and everything is nicely organized in one place. I also think you can choose the folder you want to save your artwork to....At the very least, you could always copy the artwork folder and place it wherever you want (SD Card or Internal HD).
Hope that helps!

If you guys dont mind spending a little money Poweramp does all this automatically.

I listen to mostly hiphop and r&b and the audio is great. I plug it up to my car auido jack and sounds amazing through my ported subs. Also really good thru headsets.
I personally started using this program when stock android and touchwiz music player was playing the audio from installed games, ringtones, some videos, movies, and podcast.
This program only plays music form the folders you select. THis works great with the vibrant having 2 seperate memory cards. Because I have music in the internal/external.
Edit: I also wanted to add that cover art got on my nerves when I have atleast 100 albums on my sd cards. Its not always simple as adding a picture to the album folder. You usually have to rename them to Cover.jpg/Cover.jpeg/Albumart.jpg etc. I have majority of my music on my external 16gb and it had compatibility problems when having certain albums in the same folder. Poweramp takes care of all of that. I dont pay for a ton of apps but this one I would recommend.
if you get the "donate" version of cover art downloader, there is an option in the settings to "embed cover art into id3 tag (mp3 only).

I don't believe so because it is a flag used by the gallery app, not the music player app. Any application can behave however it is programmed of course, but most picture apps honor the file and most multimedia apps don't.
The best way is also the biggest pain-in-the-butt way.
Use a computer program on a desktop computer to embed the album art into the mp3 itself. Then transfer the mp3 files back to your vibrant.
I use MP3 Tagger, which also lets me correct MP3 ID data.
It is a work in progress for me. I have done all of my mp3 files beginning with 'A' and 'B'.
At my current pace I should be done in about 5 years.

I'm positive the .nomedia file will keep audio from showing up in the music player. I did this to keep lets golf sounds and other game sounds from showing up there. So that file would keep the image from showing up in the gallery, but also the mp3's wouldn't show up in music player either.
